UPDATE: As of 3:20 pm, according to Riley County Fire District #1 the fire is 95% contained with no evacuations and no injuries being reported.
Additional mutual aid has been supplied by Wabaunsee County Fire and Heinen Brother Agra Services.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
RILEY COUNTY - Fire has burned hundreds of acres on Monday afternoon east of K177 between Manhattan and Interstate 70.
Volunteer firefighters from Riley and Geary counties along with the Kansas Forest Service have responded to fight the growing wildfire.
Crews were called out to the report of a fire that started in the median of K177 and then jumped the northbound lanes and started burning the pasture to the east of the highway.
As of 2:40 p.m. the fire 75% contained, and crews continue to work to extinguish the fire.
