Propelled by a stingy trapping defense the Junction City Blue Jays converted steals and turnovers into offense enroute to a 53-40 victory over Washburn Rural ( 8-11 ) on Senior Night at JCHS. Senior Howard Johnson led the Blue Jays ( 12-8 ) with 17 points in the win, including a trio of 3-point shots.
Johnson was among multiple Blue Jays recognized on Senior Night. Other seniors included Terrance Tedder, Seth Clark, Ismael Fadiga, Ethan Adguzi-Addo, Damarion Sellers and Alex Watts.

In girls basketball Washburn Rural ( 17-2 ) overpowered Junction City ( 2-18 ) 61-14 after jumping out to a 19-4 first quarter lead.
Three Lady Jay seniors were honored including Jada Nabus, Jayda Harris and Karen Exantus.
Junction City teams will now await their pairings for next week's substate tournaments.
