(Geary County, Kansas) – Live Well Geary County and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas announce $50,000 in grant funding to support an identified community need. The grant funding will go to support The Dorothy Bramlage Public Library.
The supported initiative features an installation of a fully accessible bursting pod, the first in the area, that will provide parents and caregivers with a clean, comfortable and private space for breastfeeding, pumping, infant feeding or attending to other caregiving needs. This dedicated space will allow the library to better support families who may otherwise would have to shorten or avoid visits due to a lack of private accommodations. Other enhancements to the library’s sensory and early learning spaces are also planned.
“Our library is more than a place to find books—it is a place where families come together to learn, play, connect, and feel a sense of belonging,” said Donna Porter, Director of the Dorothy Bramlage Public Library. “Creating a private nursing space and enhancing our sensory and early learning areas will help ensure that families with young children can fully participate in everything the library has to offer. We are incredibly thankful to Live Well Geary County and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas for helping us create a space where every child and caregiver feels welcome.”
