The 12th St. Community Garden is a program of Live Well Geary County in partnership with ICARE. The funds for the garden are held by the Kansas Rural Communities Foundation in Wamego. The garden is governed by a board who oversees the distribution of the funds for operating expenses.
This year Live Well will be able to participate in their online match event to raise funds for the garden. They are working on several things for the garden including a new utility shed, more raised beds and possibly a greenhouse. This past season the garden was in full production with all of the raised beds and plots being utilized. Gardeners were able to grow vegetables for their families and extra produce was donated for community meals for use in cooking, to neighbors receiving meals and the Food Pantry.
