JUNCTION CITY, Kan. – USD 75 announced on Friday, the North Central Kansas Music Educators Association said that Fort Riley Middle School eighth grader Lydianna Byington has been selected to the prestigious 2024-25 NCKMEA Middle School Honor Choir as an alto. By being selected, Byington, who had to audition for a spot on the honor choir, and is considered one of the top middle school singers in the KMEA North Central District.
She will join other selected middle school students from across the district on Saturday, Nov. 2 for a day of singing and a concert. "I have taught Lydianna for three years and I am so proud of how much she has grown as an artist. She is an exceptionally hard worker and a leader in our choir and drama program now as an eighth grader. I have no doubt she will shine in district choir,” said Jenny Towns, Fort Riley Middle School Director of Choir and Drama.
The KMEA North Central District consists of middle school students from Abilene Middle School, Bennington Junior High, Chapman Middle School, Clay Center Community Middle School, Concordia Middle School, Emporia Middle School, Eskridge-Mission Valley Junior High School, Fort Riley Middle School, Gypsum-Southeast of Saline, Hartford Junior High, Manhattan-Eisenhower Middle School, Manhattan-Susan B. Anthony Middle School, Marysville Junior High, Riley County Junior High, Salina-Sacred Heart Junior High, Solomon Junior High, St. George-Rock Creek Middle School, St. Mary’s Junior High, Wamego Middle School and Washington County Junior High.
