Geary County Rural Fire Chief Garry Berges outlined plans Monday to apply for an airpack grant totaling $824,000. If the funds are received new airpacks could be obtained for the county's rural firefighters and those in Grandview Plaza and Milford.&nbsp;

The new airpacks would replace equipment that is 18-20 years old.

These grants are difficult to obtain so Berges noted that a New York grant writer will provide assistance. There is a five percent local match.
