LYON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a shooting have captured a suspect.

Just after 10a.m. Monday,&nbsp;Lyon County Crimestoppers received a tip that 37-year-old Logan Casteel was located at 1217 Exchange Apartment #3, according to Undersheriff John Koelsch.

Emporia Police, ESU Police, and Lyon County Deputies responded to the location and took Casteel into custody on a Lyon County Arrest Warrant without incident.

Just after 7:30p.m. Oct. 17, police responded to&nbsp;Newman Regional Health in Emporia after a man sought treatment for a gunshot wound, according to Sheriff Jeff Cope.&nbsp;&nbsp;Justin Smith, 38, of Fredonia reported that a man he knew identified as Casteel had shot him at a rural residence at 625 Road 160 .

Smith was later transferred to a larger hospital due to the serious nature of his injuries and the sheriff's office asked for help to find Casteel.

Casteel is described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Sheriff: Wanted Kansas shooting suspect captured

BELLE PLAINE, Kan. (AP) — An undersheriff in rural Kansas faces a manslaughter trial Monday for fatally shooting an unarmed man with a homemade beanbag round out of his personal shotgun, a case that comes amid a national reckoning on police violence.

Jury selection will start in the trial of Virgil Brewer, who was with the Barber County Sheriff's Office at the time of&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/48f367e57fc14cb39febf89f3d501feb">the deadly encounter with Steven Myers</a>&nbsp;in October 2017 outside a shed in Sun City, about 300 miles (555 kilometers) from the Kansas City, Kansas.

A civil lawsuit brought by Myers’ family against Brewer and then-Barber County Sheriff Lonnie Small was settled in 2020 after&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/8480d5726b3275a28130abeeea1faae0">county officials agreed to pay $3.5 million</a>.

Brewer’s criminal trial is expected to focus on whether his&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/03fbce83f90a495ba80be7f80a5ce4b2">lack of knowledge and training</a>&nbsp;with the less-lethal munitions amounted to reckless involuntary manslaughter.

Defense attorney David Harger did not respond to messages seeking comment on the case. Brewer has been on unpaid leave since his 2018 arrest. He has been free pending trial.

“The fact of the matter is that it is not going to be a good outcome for anybody, no matter whether or not he gets convicted," Steven Myers' widow, Kristina Myers, told The Associated Press on Thursday. "Yes, it will be over in that sense, but this one bad decision has ruined the lives of so many people.”

On the evening of Oct. 6, 2017, Brewer was carrying his personal weapon when he, along with the sheriff and a sheriff’s deputy, responded to a call about a man holding a rifle on a street after an altercation at a local bar.

About five minutes before the fatal shooting, Small said: “A little luck and he’ll just pass out and die,” a remark captured on the sheriff’s body camera as they searched for Myers. They eventually found him hiding in a shed.

Both Brewer and the deputy later told the Kansas Bureau of Investigation that they could clearly see that Myers was not armed when they confronted him outside the shed, according to the probable cause affidavit obtained by AP.

Body camera footage reviewed by investigators shows Brewer repeatedly told Myers to “get on the ground” before shooting him, while Deputy Mark Suchy gave conflicting commands to “put your hands up now.” Seconds later, Brewer shot Myers with one round.

Brewer told the Kansas Bureau of Investigation during an interview that he was in fear for his and the deputy’s lives when Myers continued to walk toward them, adding that he did not expect the beanbag round to penetrate Myers’ chest.

The deputy’s body camera video showed Myers was not making any aggressive movement at the time Brewer shot him, according to Bureau Agent Brian Carroll in an affidavit in support of the criminal charge against the undersheriff.

“Myers was never told he was under arrest, Myers was never warned that his failure to comply with commands would result in the use of the impending force,” Carroll wrote.

Brewer then discharged his personal weapon at too close of a distance and shot Myers in the chest, a lethal force zone.

Carroll’s affidavit contends that Brewer’s lack of knowledge and training regarding the proper use of less-lethal beanbag munitions recklessly caused Myer’s death. Proper training would have provided critical information about the proper distance to deploy the round and the proper target zone on a person.

Such training would have also informed Brewer about past problems with rectangular-shaped bean bags like the one he used, Carroll wrote. Those are known to penetrate subjects shot with them, and their use has been discontinued for years. The rounds used today are rounded, balloon-shaped bean bags, according to the affidavit.

Before coming to Kansas, Brewer worked in Texas where he was given the beanbag ammunition used the evening of Myers’ death. The affidavit revealed that the Kansas Bureau of Investigation interviewed Travis Martin, the deputy at the Freestone County Sheriff’s Office in Texas who gave Brewer the ammunition.

Martin, who is expected to testify, told the agency that after speaking with the beanbag maker, that type of ammunition would no longer be carried and should not be fired on a person.

Martin told investigators that he “thought he had talked with Brewer about not using the ammunition on a person,” according to the affidavit.

Medical Examiner Timothy Gorrill is also expected to take the witness stand. His autopsy found the cause of death to be a penetrating shotgun bag wound to the trunk with the manner of death ruled a homicide.

Kristina Myers said she has been subpoenaed, adding she hopes to be allowed to watch the trial after her testimony.

“It doesn’t bring him back, but it does give us a sense of justice,” she said. “Everyone, no matter their occupation, should be held responsible for their actions. All actions have consequences.”

Kansas undersheriff faces trial in fatal beanbag shooting

&nbsp;JOHNSON COUNTY —A Kansas man pleaded guilty to violating the Kansas Retailers’ Sales Tax Act and was ordered to pay nearly $120,000 in restitution and penalties, according to Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt.

Bryan Huff, 36, of Leawood, pleaded guilty yesterday in Johnson County District Court to misdemeanor charges of violating the sales tax act. Judge Thomas M. Sutherland accepted the plea and sentenced Huff to pay $79,436.72 in restitution, $39,718.36 in penalties and a $5,000 fine. Huff was also sentenced to serve 45 days in jail; his jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on six months of probation. He must serve 60 days on house arrest as a condition of his probation. The court also granted 20 days jail credit for time served prior to the plea as agreed to by Huff and the state.

The charges stemmed from Huff’s purchase of luxury automobiles, failing to report the accurate purchase price and therefore failing to pay the actual required sales tax on the vehicles. The case was investigated by the Kansas Department of Revenue.

Kan. man admits not paying required sales tax on luxury automobiles

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating an armed robbery and have made an arrest.

Just after 6pm Monday, police responded to an armed robbery in the 1900 block of South Hydraulic in Wichita, according to a media release. 

Officers learned that&nbsp;31-year-old Joseph Rest-Isaac just robbed the DD Smoke Shop at gunpoint demanding money, watches, cigarettes and fled on foot.

During follow up WPD Officer Dustin Nail and K9 Nash went to the last known location of Rest-Isaac and began searching. 

They located him a short time later in the 1800 block of South Ellis where he was hiding in the rafters of a garage with a small caliber handgun and methamphetamines in his possession. 

He was taken into custody and booked on requested charges&nbsp;of Aggravated Robbery w/dangerous weapon, Criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, and possession of opiates.

Police K9 found Kan. armed robbery suspect hiding in garage rafters

JACKSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspect after a traffic stop involving&nbsp; a U-Haul truck Thursday morning south of Holton, Kansas.

Just after 11:30a.m. Oct. 20, a sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop on a U-Haul truck near 190th Road on U.S. Highway 75 for a traffic infraction, according to sheriff Tim Morse. Through the course of the investigation, deputies located contraband during the stop.

  The driver, Timothy Wayne Lucas, 63, of Yukon, Oklahoma, was arrested on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, transporting an open container. 

 The passenger, Fredrick Andrew Gooch, 42, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was arrested on requested charges of distributing methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hallucinogenic drug and transporting an open container.

Martinez is being held in the Stevens County Jail.&nbsp; &nbsp;Police forward the case to the county attorney.&nbsp;Martinez has two previous convictions for burglary, according to the Kansas Dept. of Corrections.

RILEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a 76-year-old woman after shooting Friday night in Ogden.

Just after 9p.m., the Riley County Communications Center received a call from the woman stating she had shot her husband, according to a media release from the Riley County Police Department. When officers arrived on scene, they found a 75-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

The man was transported to Via Christi in critical condition and later life-flighted to Stormont Vail in Topeka for further treatment.

Just before 1a.m. Saturday, officers arrested Bernice Farmer, 76, of Ogden on requested charges of attempted second-degree murder. She is being held on a $100,000 Bond, according to the RCPD.

14, 16-year-old accused of arson involving Kan. sheriff's car

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect fentanyl poisoning overdose death and have made an arrest.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office was contacted about information related to a Wichita Police Department case involving the death of 24-<a href="https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/wichita-ks/corey-wontorski-10923684">year-old Corey Wontorski,</a> according to Sheriff's Lt. Benjamin Blick.

Sheriff's office investigators followed up and encountered 18-year-old Gage Smith. Deputies gathered enough information to arrest and book&nbsp; Smith into the Sedgwick County Jail on requested charges that include Distribution of a Controlled Substance; Causing Death, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Use/Possession with intent to Use Drug Paraphernalia and Violate Controlled Substance Laws.

Kansas teen jailed for role in fentanyl overdose death

SALINA—Law enforcement authorities and USD 305 officials are investigating an alleged school threat.&nbsp;

After school was dismissed for the day on Thursday, police received information that a student made a statement to three other boys regarding "shooting up the school," according to a media release from Salina Police.

" The four boys were seen putting their hands together, seemingly indicating they were all in agreement to participate. "The statement and handshake were witnessed by another student who was alarmed and reported it to their parent."

Following an investigation, police arrested four Salina South students including 17-year-old&nbsp;Colten Penn; 16-year-old&nbsp;Kaydence Muchow, 16-year-old&nbsp;Derek Eustice and 15-year-old and&nbsp;Aidan Bingham.

&nbsp;Police booked them into juvenile detention on a requested charge of aggravated criminal threat, a person felony.&nbsp;"

School officials identified the four students after reviewing the video recording from the Salina South cafeteria. Detectives and the school resource officer established probable cause to make the arrests and request criminal threat charges.&nbsp;

"This is an example where a citizen's tip has led to the quick arrest of individuals involved in criminal acts at Salina South High School," Salina police said. "As a reminder, citizen tips are often instrumental in helping clear criminal cases."

Since the beginning of the school year, police have investigated at least 14 criminal threat cases at Salina middle and high schools.

RCPD: Manhattan man accused of child sex crimes

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating four suspects on drug charges.&nbsp;

On Oct. 18, members of the Topeka Police Department Narcotics Unit served a search warrant in the 3700 Block SW 10th Avenue related to an ongoing investigation, according to Lt. Ronnie Connell.

While conducting the search warrant, officers located methamphetamine, marijuana, firearms and drug paraphernalia.

As a result police arrested 27-year-old Amanda Sibert, 31-year-old Casey Thomas, 34-year-old Matthew Smith and 40-year-old and Karwin Johnson all of Topeka. They were transported to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.

Amanda Sibert is being held on requested charges of Distribution of methamphetamine, Possession of drug paraphernalia with intent of distribution, Aggravated Endangering a Child,&nbsp; Criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, Violate offender registration, Possession of marijuana and&nbsp;Unlawful to acquire proceeds from Drug transaction. She was convicted of selling heroin, according to the Kansas Offender Registry.

Casey Thomas is jailed on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, Possession of drug paraphernalia and Aggravated Endangering a Child.

Police: Kan. registered offender accused again of selling drugs

SEDGWICK COUNTY —A woman arrested in connection with an alleged hit-and-run death of a man in Wichita made her first court appearance in the case Tuesday.

<a href="https://ssc.sedgwickcounty.org/sheriffinmates/SheriffInmateDetail.aspx?nameId=20079206">Ashley Corley, 36, Hutchinson, </a>is charged with first-degree murder, leaving the scene of an accident and a misdemeanor count of driving while license suspended or canceled, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

Police arrested Corley on Saturday in connection with a traffic fatality that occurred Friday in the 3000 block of West 9th Street in Wichita.

Just before 8a.m.,&nbsp; police responded to 9th Street North and St. Paul in Wichita where they found 41-year-old Rigoberto Rivas in the street. He had head injuries and died at a local hospital, according to Officer Chad Ditch.&nbsp;

Investigators learned that Rivas and Corley were seen running toward a gray car parked on the curb at 9th Street. Corley allegedly entered the vehicle and drove away at a high rate of speed with Rivas on the hood. The car swerved and Rivas fell from the car.

A follow-up investigation led officers to believe the car was stolen.

Police investigators arrested Corley in Hutchison, transported her back to Wichita and booked her into the Sedgwick County Jail

&nbsp;On October 31, attorneys in the case are scheduled to discuss future dates with Judge Jeffrey Syrios, according to the district attorney's office. She remains jailed on a $500,000.&nbsp;

Kan. woman charged in death of man who fell from hood of a car

FINNEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect for an alleged violent attack on a woman.

Just after 9p.m October 17, police&nbsp; were dispatched to the north part of Garden City after 911 communications received an inaudible call from a woman. She then texted 911 stating she needed help. 

Upon arrival, officers observed a woman in distress and learned she had been in a physical altercation with a man known to her.

The investigation revealed that the woman and the man, identified as Siraj Mohamad, 43, Garden City, got into an argument, and the woman attempted to leave. 

Mohamad allegedly became upset, struck the woman several times, and prevented her from leaving. 

Mohamad allegedly strangled the woman and upon letting her go, the woman was able to contact 911. Police arrested Mohamad on requested charges of&nbsp; Aggravated Domestic Battery and Criminal Restraint.

Police: Kansas man held on $300K bond for alleged sex crimes

A 39-year-old Kansas man was sentenced this month to more than 25 years in prison for raping a child in Ellis County.

According to court documents, Kenneth Geyer was arrested in January and charged with five counts of rape for assaulting a child under the age of 14 between May 2018 and December of 2020.

In September, Geyer pleaded no contest to two counts of rape and one count of aggravated criminal sodomy.

As a result of the plea agreement, Geyer was sentenced this month to 310-months in prison, according to Ellis County Attorney Robert Anderson.

Geyer will be subject to lifetime post-release and lifetime registration as a sex offender.

Man sentenced for child sex crimes in NW Kansas

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating an alleged arson fire and have a suspect in custody.

Just before 7p.m. Monday, fire crews responded to the report of a house fire at 710 SW Polk Street in Topeka, according to Fire Marshal Alan Stahl.

 Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from a two-story home. Due to the advanced fire conditions, fire crews began a defensive fire attack in an attempt to keep the fire contained to a single home. The fire did cause damage three other buildings before firefighters could bring it under control.

Neighbors reported there were possible people in the residence. Additionally, neighbors reported a person running from the building. 

Officers from the Topeka Police Department were able to locate the individual who was seen running from the house. A Topeka Fire Investigator arrived with Officers and began to question the individual. 

The suspect identified as 27-year-old Nathaniel Stanton told investigators that all occupants of the house were able to escape before the fire department’s arrival.

The Topeka Fire Department Investigation Unit and investigators from the Office of the Kansas State Fire Marshall responded to the scene to perform an origin and cause scene investigation.

That investigation indicates the cause of the fire as incendiary, intentionally set. Police arrested Stanton and booked into jail on requested charges that include 3 counts of Arson and 1 count of Criminal Trespass. The home was vacant and had sustained damage from 2 previous fires. The estimated dollar loss – $14,670, all associated with structural loss.

Man accused of setting fire that damaged Kan. home, 3 other buildings

JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas woman on multiple charges after a traffic stop.

Just after 10a.m. Oct. 16, a sheriff’s deputy stopped a 2001 Ford van west of Mayetta for an alleged registration violation, according to sheriff Tim Morse.&nbsp;

 A Jackson County Sheriff K-9 alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics inside the vehicle. 

The deputy arrested the driver, Nicole Eileen Jacobs, 49, of Lawrence, on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a hallucinogenic drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, interference with law enforcement, two counts of endangering a child and no insurance.

As a precaution, the school district along with local law enforcement activated and implemented the school district's emergency protocols included in the crisis plan.

Local and county law enforcement conducted a search of the Horton Elementary School, 300 East 16th Street and Horton High School, 1120 East First Avenue. After the search, law enforcement and school district officials issued an all clear and returned the schools to normal operation. All staff and students were accounted for, according to Cline.

Police released no additional details and have not reported an arrest.

Kammron C. Tucker, 27, faces Unlawful Use of a Weapon, two counts of Assault 2nd Degree and three Armed Criminal Action, while James L. Gant, 25, faces Unlawful Use of a Weapon and three counts of Armed Criminal Action, and Zabdiel B. Caballero-Ochoa, 23, faces Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Resisting Arrest.

According to court records, Kansas City Police responded to the area of Interstates 70 and 435 to assist Independence Police officers in pursuit of a vehicle that had individuals inside who had fired shots at the officers. During the chase, the suspect vehicle hit 100 mph. 

Police took into custody three suspects who fled from police on foot; a fourth suspect, who had been driving the vehicle, was taken into custody at the vehicle. Detectives reviewed surveillance video that showed a portion of the chase and showed gunfire from the suspect vehicle directed at the officers. A fourth suspect taken into custody was a juvenile.

3 charged for firing shots at police during I-70, I-435 chase

Two people were arrested on requested drug charges after a stop in southwest Salina Sunday afternoon revealed cash and more than seven pounds of marijuana.

Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus said this morning that at 2:55 p.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Oak Street, an officer stopped a maroon pickup because the registered owner had a suspended driver's license. The officer made contact with the driver, who was the registered owner, and a passenger in the vehicle.

The officer noticed the odor of burnt marajuana coming from within the pickup and had the two people exit the pickup, Hanus said. A search of the vehicle located cash and multiple bags totaling more than 7.5 pounds of marajuana.

Police arrested the driver Raul A. Guillen-Garcia, 20 and the passenger, identified as Azure E. Matson, 19, both of Salina.

Raul A. Guillen-Garcia is being held on requested charges of&nbsp;Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, Possession of marijuana, Felony possession of paraphernalia, Possession of paraphernalia, Tax stamp violation, Possession of drug proceeds and Driving while suspended.

 </figure>By LESLIE EIKLEBERRY Salina PostTwo people were arrested on requested drug charges after a stop in southwest Salina Sunday afternoon revealed cash and more than seven pounds of marijuana.Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus said this morning that at 2:55 p.m. Sunday in the 1400 block of Oak Street, an officer stopped a maroon pickup because the registered owner had a suspended driver's license. The officer made contact with the driver, who was the registered owner, and a passenger in the vehicle.The officer noticed the odor of burnt marajuana coming from within the pickup and had the two people exit the pickup, Hanus said. A search of the vehicle located cash and multiple bags totaling more than 7.5 pounds of marajuana.Police arrested the driver Raul A. Guillen-Garcia, 20 and the passenger, identified as Azure E. Matson, 19, both of Salina.Raul A. Guillen-Garcia is being held on requested charges of&nbsp;Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, Possession of marijuana, Felony possession of paraphernalia, Possession of paraphernalia, Tax stamp violation, Possession of drug proceeds and Driving while suspended.<figure>

Kan. traffic stop finds cash from selling drugs and 7 pounds of pot

KANSAS CITY —A Kansas man faces 2nd Degree murder and other felony charges for the Oct. 2, crash in downtown Kansas City that killed two individuals, including a driver stopped at a red light, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

Jose Angel Vega, 28, Kansas City, Kansas, faces two counts of Murder 2nd Degree for causing the deaths of two persons while he was fleeing from police, Resisting A Lawful Stop, two counts of Armed Criminal Action using his vehicle as a dangerous instrument while committing the felony of Murder in the 2nd Degree, DWI Resulting in Death and the misdemeanor of Driving While Revoked 1st Offense.

According to court records, about 3a.m. on Oct. 2, a Kansas City Police officer observed a 2004 Cadillac CTS doing donuts in the street. He attempted to stop the vehicle. It stopped, partially at Truman Road and Grand, then drove away northbound on Grand at a high rate of speed. 

The vehicle traveled through a red light at 13th and Grand and the officer disregarded the stop and turned off emergency equipment. At 11th and Grand, the Cadillac struck a truck stopped at a red traffic light.

 The officer detected the strong odor of alcohol from Vega, who was slurring his words and was confused. A later test of his blood showed a high level of alcohol. 

A passenger in the vehicle was extracted from the defendant's vehicle but the passenger later died. The driver of the truck that the defendant's vehicle hit also died of injuries sustained in the crash. An accident investigation of the crash by KCPD showed the defendant's vehicle was traveling 103 miles per hour one second before he hit the truck.

Prosecutors requested a $500,000/10 percent bond.&nbsp;

Kan. man fleeing police at over 100mph accused of double murder

JACKSON COUNTY, Kan.–Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas woman on multiple charges after a traffic stop.

Just before 4p.m. Friday, a sheriff's deputy stopped a 2011 Dodge Dakota pickup truck near 142nd and U.S. Highway 75 for a traffic infraction, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

 The traffic stop led to the discovery of contraband in the vehicle.  The driver, Sandra Groves, 64, of Topeka, was arrested on requested charges of unlawful possession of a prescription drugs, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a hallucinogenic drug, possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended and transporting an open container. 

Groves is being held in the Jackson County Jail. The Kansas Highway Patrol assisted with the arrest.

64-year-old Kan. woman accused of numerous drug crimes

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities&nbsp; investigating a fatal apartment complex shooting have a second suspect in custody.

On Monday, police arrested 22-year-old Dujontez Jaimandre Jerome Owens of Topeka, according to Police Lt. Donna Eubanks.

Just after 10a.m. October 1, police responded to the Meadowlark Apartments 1621 SW 37th Terrace in Topeka after receiving multiple reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located one man identified as&nbsp;Keith K. Gaylord Jr., 23 of Topeka. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. They located another individual with injuries believed to be non-life threatening. The injured individual was transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital.

As a result of the initial investigation, police arrested Bruce Holloway Jr., 20, of Lawrence, on a requested charge of first degree murder, according to Police Captain Jerry Monasmith.

This was the third homicide in Topeka during that final week of September, according to Monasmith.

2nd suspect jailed for Kansas apartment complex killing

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect involved in a hit-and-run accident that injured a 7-year-old boy.

Just after 1p.m. Saturday, at 1:15 pm, police were dispatched to a hit-and-run accident involving a child in the 2000 block of North Minnesota, according to Officer Chad Ditch.

 Officers arrived on the scene and learned a 7-year-old boy was riding his bicycle and was struck by a southbound vehicle on Minnesota Street. EMS transported the boy to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Investigators learned Thompson-Johnson was driving her gray 2004 Chevy Trailblazer southbound on Minnesota when the 7-year-old was crossing the street on his bicycle. 

Thompson-Johnson attempted to swerve and miss, struck the boy and sped off at a high rate of speed, according to Ditch.

&nbsp;Witnesses spoke to police and after a substantial amount of research, officers spotted Thompson-Johnson driving in a different vehicle away from a known location for her.
