KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) — Charges against two men accused in a shooting at a crowded Kansas bar that left four people dead and five injured have been upgraded to capital murder, giving prosecutors the option of seeking the death penalty.

The amended charges filed Wednesday against Hugo Villanueva-Morales and Javier Alatorre in the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/89ad3f4bfea04cd2a2ee8a0f73fee663">Oct. 6 shooting</a>&nbsp;at Tequila KC Bar in Kansas City also include: one count of attempted murder; six counts of aggravated battery; one count of aggravated assault; and one count of criminal possession of a firearm by a&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/b8d881f9f12c458b91b3d8e806c1d300">convicted felon.</a>

Wyandotte County District Attorney Mark Dupree said he has not yet decided whether to pursue the death penalty.

Police have said the shooting stemmed from an earlier dispute at the bar, after which the men returned with guns and opened fire. Officers had responded to reports of a disturbance at the bar two hours before the shooting.

Alatorre was arrested shortly after the shooting but Villanueva-Morales fled and was&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/5a09203cf85e14350e86819a9456d7f9">arrested in Mexico</a>&nbsp;Dec. 12.

Villanueva-Morales could face more charges in reference to his flight but Dupree said he wanted to concentrate on the more serious crimes for now.

Capital murder charges filed in KC bar shooting that left 4 dead

SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a&nbsp; a former Kansas television personality on numerous charges after a drug bust at his home.

Just before 1p.m. Tuesday, police served a narcotics search warrant at a home in the 200 block of North Summitlawn in Wichita stemming from an ongoing narcotics investigation, according to officer Charley Davidson.

 During the search warrant, police&nbsp; located a pound of methamphetamine, two ounces of heroin, narcotic pills, a mushroom grow operation, drug paraphernalia, and seized two handguns.&nbsp;

They also arrested 37-year-old Aaron Wirtz of Wichita on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of a hallucinogenic with intent to sell, possession of nonnarcotics with intent to sell, unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wirtz served as the TV and radio personality for Super Car Guys brand in Wichita, according to his Linkdin page.&nbsp;

“The search warrant was conducted in reference to information received on illegal drug sales at the home,” WPD Captain Jeff Allen said.&nbsp;

Police: Mushroom grow operation, meth at former Kan. TV pitchman's home

The
 Shawnee Mission school district and four district officials have agreed to pay $165,000 to resolve a lawsuit alleging school officials 
failed to take action against a middle school student accused of 
sexually assaulting another student.

The district and officials 
agreed to the settlement in September but the amount was not disclosed 
until Monday, when U.S. District Judge Daniel Crabtree approved the 
settlement.

The assault happened during study hall at Westridge 
Middle School in Overland Park in 2017, when a male student “forcibly 
put his hands” down a female student’s pants and “penetrated her,” 
according to the lawsuit, which was filed in October 2017.

The 
lawsuit, filed by the female student (identified only as P.Y.) and her 
father, alleged the defendants had failed to report to law enforcement 
previous incidents of “unwelcome physical contact” involving the same 
male juvenile and three other female students.

The district 
insisted it handled the 2017 incident appropriately and swiftly, 
suspending the juvenile shortly after it occurred and then expelling 
him.

In December 2017, the juvenile was convicted of three counts
 of battery and one count of aggravated liberties with a child. He was 
sentenced to seven days in a juvenile facility, 21 days of house arrest 
and 12 months of probation and was required to register as a sex 
offender.

In addition to the district, the lawsuit named as 
defendants former Shawnee Mission School Superintendent Jim Hinson, 
Westridge Principal Jeremy McDonnell, Westridge Assistant Principal Jade
 Peters and former school board member Craig Denny.

As well as 
approving the settlement, Crabtree on Monday approved a provision 
allocating 45% of the settlement amount toward the plaintiffs’ attorney 
fees. Although he said it was “at the upper range of fee ranges 
appropriate for a settlement,” Crabtree found the fee award to be “fair 
and reasonable.”

The plaintiffs had asked Crabtree to seal the 
amount of the settlement, but Crabtree, citing case law, said there was 
“a strong presumption in favor of public access.”

A lawyer for the school district and other defendants declined to comment on the settlement.

Kan. school district settles sexual assault case for $165K

LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mo. — Two
 small children reported to have been in grotesque condition have been 
removed from a Livingston County house permeated with the odor of feces,
 urine, and rotting food.

A
 Livingston County Sheriff’s Office news release reports that, on 
Jan. 2, officers responded to a location in southern Livingston 
County after a resident reported possible child neglect.&nbsp;

The 
report indicated two small children were found to be in grotesque 
conditions with horrible odors of feces, urine and rotting food. One 
deputy reported he had to leave the interior of the home to vomit due to
 the conditions. The home also had no running water and the occupants 
were utilizing buckets for all their needs.

Sheriff Steve Cox says
 the children were removed from the home and taken to Hedrick Medical 
Center for examination. The children had reportedly been in the home 
since Dec. 31 when one or more caretakers had dropped them off so 
they could go party.

Division of Family Services was notified as was Senior Services due to the living conditions for an elderly resident.

Reports indicates the father has one or more outstanding arrest warrant.

Mo. children removed from house smelling of feces, urine, rotting food

SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal December shooting in Wichita and have made an arrest in Oklahoma.

Just before before 3 a.m. on Sunday Dec. 2, police responded to a shooting call at the 511 club, 511 North West Street in Wichita, according to Captain Brent Allred.&nbsp; Upon arrival, officers located 19-year-old Sonya Brown with a gunshot wound.&nbsp; She was transported to an area hospital where she died.

The investigation revealed a disturbance occurred between the shooting suspect 25-year-old Terranace Johnson and a male patron inside the business when Johnson fired multiple shots, which struck Brown police believe was an unintended and uninvolved victim.&nbsp; 

Through the investigation, investigators learned of Johnson’s involvement in the incident.&nbsp; He was located and arrested on Wednesday in Warr Acres, Oklahoma.&nbsp; On Tuesday, Johnson was extradited to Wichita and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on requested charges of first-degree murder.

Suspect in fatal Kansas nightclub shooting arrested in Oklahoma

Just after 7:30p.m. Monday, police were sent to the area of SW 8th and SW Fillmore in Topeka after several reports of multiple gunshots, according to spokesperson Gretchen Koenen.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a man with a non-life threatening injury initially believed to a gunshot wound. EMS transported the man to a local hospital for treatment.&nbsp;

Investigators&nbsp; located a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire at SW 6th and SW Fillmore. The vehicle also contained a significant amount of illegal drugs and the injured party refused to cooperate with the police investigation.

This incident centered on an attempted sale of illegal drugs that resulted in a robbery attempt which culminated in the listed related shooting incident.

The injured man identified as 19-year-old Amari L. Wilkerson of Topeka, was released from a local hospital, arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested criminal charges of Obstruction of Justice and Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute.

Kansas robbery suspect released from hospital, taken to jail

SHAWNEE COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects on drug charges after a traffic stop.

Just after noon Monday, a deputy stopped a vehicle in the 1000 Block of SW Wanamaker for an alleged equipment violation, according to the Shawnee County Sheriff's Department.&nbsp;

During the stop, deputies arrested two suspects. Christina Bailey, 41,Topeka, is being held on a felony warrant, according to the sheriff's department.

Deputies also arrested the driver identified Larry White, 44 Topeka, on a felony warrant and requested charges that include Possession of Meth, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Felony Interference with LEO, Identity Theft, Driving Under Influence, Tag Not Assigned, No Insurance and Driving Without a Valid License.

Sheriff: Two suspects found with drugs during Kansas traffic stop

Overland Park, Kan. (AP) — A burglary suspect has been arrested after leading police on a chase in a Kansas suburb of Kansas City that ended in a crash.

The suspect allegedly drove in the wrong lanes, onto sidewalks and through a fence before crashing into a tree in Overland Park on Tuesday. Radio traffic indicated that the chase reached speeds of about 60 mph through residential neighborhoods and 80 to 85 mph on major thoroughfares.

The suspect's name and details about whether he was injured were not immediately released.

Burglary suspect crashes in Kansas after high-speed chase

OKLAHOMA CITY &nbsp;(AP) — Two days of meetings and new searches are planned this week for two 16-year-old Oklahoma girls missing and presumed dead for more than two decades, authorities said Monday.

Investigators with the Craig County District Attorney's Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation will be joined by the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement for Lauria Bible and Ashley Freeman in and around the former town of Picher, about 85 miles northeast of Tulsa, said district attorney spokeswoman Michelle Lowry.

Lowry said a request from Republican U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma late last year prompted the federal agency's involvement.

“We don't have a (new) tip or a lead” prompting the search, Lowry said, “The federal agency brings additional equipment and expertise in dealing with underground and mine searches.”

Previous&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/a09ee76c3c0741dbac66b7efd00ba7dc">searches</a>&nbsp;for the girl's bodies both in&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/a700879e4c95551678ecfa385cc3e511">northeast Oklahoma and southeast Kansas</a>&nbsp;have been unsuccessful.

The OSMRE will use an underground camera and, if needed, lighting to examine the floors and walls of mine shafts in the area. Picher, which no longer exists as a town, was included in a&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews%2Ccom/99653ee48888418e9a84309266c69422">federally funded buyout</a>&nbsp;after a 2006 Army Corps of Engineers study revealed abandoned lead and zinc mines beneath the the area had a high risk of caving in.

Authorities said Bible was spending the night with Freeman on Dec. 30, 1999, when Freeman's parents, Danny and Kathy Freeman, were killed and their mobile home near Welch was burned.

The parents' bodies were found in the burned rubble and girls haven't been seen since. Authorities believe the teenagers were eventually killed and their bodies left in a pit in the Picher area.

A Kansas man, Ronnie Dean Busick, 68, was&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/d4e1e525f4f0452f997c4cc62c3202f9">arrested and charged</a>&nbsp;in 2018 with four counts of murder, two counts of kidnapping and one count of arson in the case.

Busick in December was&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/9e67f5e546c015921da13b34f4b2cc7e">found competent</a>&nbsp;for trial. He has denied knowledge of or involvement in the case.

Authorities said two other suspects in the case are now dead.

Kan. man charged with murder; another search planned for girls missing since 1999 

DOUGLAS COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a burglary and shooting that sent a man to the hospital.

Just before 4 p.m. Monday, officers from the Lawrence Police Department responded to a residence in the 2300 block of Wakarusa Drive in Lawrence regarding a possible shooting that had just occurred, according to police spokesman Patrick Compton.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim stated that he returned home and interrupted a white male subject of average height, wearing a white t-shirt and black pants, attempting to burglarize the residence.

While fleeing the scene, the suspect fired a weapon that he was attempting to steal from the victim’s home. That weapon was left on the premises. The suspect fled the residence east on foot.

Late Tuesday morning, police had not reported an arrest.

Police: Suspect shoots Kansas homeowner during burglary

SALINE COUNTY —An SUV owned by the University of Kansas Athletics and reported stolen in Lawrence was recovered following a Friday night incident in Salina.

Just after 11:45 p.m. Friday, police were dispatched to the Best Western Plus, 745 West Schilling Road in Salina for the report of damage to property, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester.

A motel employee observed two people removing a screen from room 107 and left the motel without paying the $24 outstanding balance on their room bill.

 They were seen leaving in a black 2019 Ford Expedition belonging to KU Athletics that had been reported stolen in Lawrence and was valued at $65,000.

While officers were working the case, another officer observed the SUV turn into the parking lot of&nbsp; the Comfort Inn, 715 West Schilling Road. When the officer attempted to make a traffic stop, the SUV drove around the patrol vehicle and headed east on West Schilling Road at a high rate of speed, according to Forrester.&nbsp;

The SUV failed to stop at the stop sign at the East Schilling Road-South Ohio Street intersection and attempted to turn north, but because of the speed hit the South Ohio Street curbing and came to a stop.&nbsp;

Forrester said the driver, Sarah Howe, 42, of Oregon, smelled strongly of an alcoholic drink and was found to be in possession of narcotics. 

Police arrested her on requested charges that include Flee and elude resulting in a motor vehicle accident, Possession of stolen property, Possession of opiates, No drug tax stamp, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Reckless driving, Speeding, Transporting an open container, Stop sign violation, Misdemeanor theft&nbsp; and Damage to property. The SUV was towed from the accident scene.

Police have not located the man observed removing the screen at Best Western Plus, according to Forrester.

Police: Woman arrested driving SUV stolen from KU Athletics

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects caught driving a stolen car.

Just after 8a.m. Friday, a Shawnee County Sheriff's deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a Chevy Malibu for failing to signal a lane change in the 200 Block of NW Jay Street, according to Deputy Shayna Anderson.

The vehicle stopped in a driveway and the passenger later identified as Justin R. Shumway, 37, Topeka, fled the vehicle on foot.&nbsp; While running, deputies observed Shumway throwing a 9mm handgun that was later recovered, according to Anderson.

Deputies arrested him on NW Studer while he was attempted to escape in another vehicle.

Deputies booked him on requested charges of criminal possession of a firearm by a felon, a federal warrant for a parole violation for a previous charge of felon in possession of a weapon.

The Chevy was stolen in Wichita, according to Anderson. Deputies arrested the driver identified as Tina M. Funk, 26, Topeka, on requested charges that include possession of stolen property, driving without a license, misdemeanor obstruction,&nbsp; an out of county warrant and additional traffic violations, according to Anderson.

Shumway has three previous convictions for forgery and for burglary, theft, aggravated battery and battery of a corrections officer, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Sheriff: Kan. felon tossed handgun after running from stolen car

SEDGWICK COUNTY —A registered Kansas sex offender, convicted of rape in 1996, made a first appearance in court Thursday in connection with a murder in November.

On New Year's Eve, police arrested William Lee Gray, 45, in connection with the shooting in a parking lot&nbsp;in the 2000 Block of South Rock Road in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson.

At the crime scene on November 17, police located a victim identified as 51-year-old James Storey of Wichita in the driver’s seat of a 2018 Chevy Silverado with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators learned a Dodge Ram pickup driven by Gray was parked next to Storey’s vehicle. The vehicle left for a short time and upon return Gray fired multiple shots at Storey’s driver’s side window striking him.

Gray is charged with first-degree murder and a violation of the offender registration act. He is being held on a total bond of $600,000, according to online jail records.

Gray is being held on a $500,000 bond. Police say he has previously been convicted on charges that include rape and aggravated robbery.

COWLEY COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects for an alleged burglary of Christmas gifts.

On December 18, officers took a report of a vehicle burglary that had occurred in the 300 block of North A Street in Arkansas City, according to a media release. The victims reported the theft of toys they were concealing from their children in the trunk of their car, in anticipation of Christmas. The total loss was estimated at $160.

The stolen items were purchased locally, so an officer contacted the store where they were purchased and made employees aware of the theft, in the event the items were returned for money.

On Dec. 27, police learned that two items matching the description of the stolen goods had been returned to the store for a refund. The officer was able to quickly identify a suspect, based on surveillance video from the store. The suspect, later identified as Shannon L. Clark, 40, Arkansas City was located and interviewed. A second suspect, later identified as Kadan Ray Armstrong 18, also was contacted and interviewed. 

Following the interviews, police took both suspects&nbsp; into custody without incident.&nbsp;Kadan Ray Armstrong, 18, was booked on suspicion of felony burglary and misdemeanor theft.&nbsp; He remains in custody.

&nbsp;Clark was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor theft. She posted bond and is no longer in custody.This case will be forwarded to the Cowley County Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

Winters had two drug convictions in Kansas, according to the Department of Corrections

KANSAS CITY (AP) — A man whose conviction was overturned after he served more than two years in prison is suing the federal public defender's office for malpractice.

Aaron Winters, 30, said his public defender urged him to take a guilty plea even though he was innocent.

Winters was arrested in Kansas City in October 2012 and was charged in federal court with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Williams was convicted in an earlier case for possessing marijuana without a tax stamp in Kansas and was sentenced to less than a year in prison. Under federal law, that conviction did not disqualify him from owning a firearm.

He served 28 months of his 30 month sentence before federal prosecutors recommended that he be released and his conviction overturned.

In his lawsuit against the Office of the Public Defender, Western District of Missouri, Winters alleges the public defender failed to perform basic legal research and improperly advised him to enter a guilty plea.

The Office of the Public Defender and its attorney did not respond to requests for comment.

Just after 6:30p.m. October 10, a suspect identified as Maggie Ann Lyon, 25, Englewood, Colorado, attempted to open a business account with AT&amp;T to obtain electronics.&nbsp; In addition to AT&amp;T, Metro Denver Sprinkler LLC is also listed as a victim in the alleged crime, according to Riley County Police Department PIO Hali Rowland.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On Thursday, police in Manhattan arrested Lyon on requested charges of "Forgery; Possess with intent to distribute written instrument; 1st conviction, Attempted theft of property or services; Value $1,500 to $25,000; Pocket-Picking and Making false information Identity theft; Defraud to receive benefits &gt; $100,000."&nbsp; &nbsp;She is being held on a$25,000 Bond, according to the Riley County Police Department Report.

Lyon was on parole after three convictions on similar charges at cell phone stores in Mesa and El Paso County Colorado, according to the Colorado Department of Corrections.

SALINE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating new child sex allegations from late 2014 to mid 2015 against a Kansas felon with a long history of criminal activity.

The latest incident allegedly involved a 7- to 8-year-old girl at&nbsp; a residence in southeastern Saline County,&nbsp;according to Saline County Sheriff's Lt. Michael Asher.

This incident came to light after a disturbance in the Salina Police Department lobby on December 28. At least eight people, including&nbsp; a suspect identified as 38-year-old Justin Thomas Lee Ingram of Canton were involved in the disturbance.

All those involved in the disturbance were either related or at one time had been in-laws. Three children all under age 14 were in the lobby at the time of the disturbance and were placed into police protective custody, according to Ascher.

Once police learned the alleged incident occurred in southeastern Saline County, they called in Saline County Sheriff's Office personnel and arrested Ingram on requested charges that include rape, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated criminal sodomy and battery.

Ingram has a prior conviction for attempted aggravated indecent liberties with a child in Dickinson County in 1999, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections. He has six additional convictions for burglary and theft and had been out of prison since 2009.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle but Coleman accelerated and a short pursuit started. Coleman pulled into a church parking lot in the 6000 Block of East Harry and fled from the vehicle on foot. He left the car running and in drive. The Nissan struck a handicapped sign and an unoccupied police patrol vehicle, according to Davidson.

Kan. teen left stolen car running, in drive when he ran from police

SHAWNEE COUNTY –Law enforcement authorities are investigating an armed robbery and have two suspects in custody.

Just after 8a.m. Tuesday, police responded to the area of the 2900 block of SW 31st Court in Topeka reference an aggravated robbery that had just occurred, according to Lt. Kelvin Johnson.

&nbsp;The victim, who was unharmed, was approached by the suspect who was armed with a knife during the robbery. The suspect was described as a white male approximately six feet tall and skinny wearing a black hoodie and was last seen east bound on foot. A neighborhood search was completed but police did not find the suspect.

Just after 7:30a.m. Wednesday officers on patrol located a vehicle that detectives had issued an attempt to locate in connection with the robbery The red Pontiac G6 was parked in front of 1910 SE Illinois. Officers knocked on the door and could see and hear people inside. The subjects refused to come out, but eventually two individuals came out about one hour later. The officers at the scene were given consent to clear the house. Officers at the scene were unable to clear the attic and saw signs that indicated someone had recently been up there. The home was secured and detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence. After several hours of attempting to make contact with anyone inside the residence, the warrant was executed. No other individuals were located inside.

Detectives developed information that the persons of interest in the robbery case were at another location. Police arrested&nbsp; 26-year-old Jordan J. Harper and 32-year-old John C. Riley II and booked them into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Aggravated Robbery, Burglary and Theft.

 </figure>SHAWNEE COUNTY –Law enforcement authorities are investigating an armed robbery and have two suspects in custody.Just after 8a.m. Tuesday, police responded to the area of the 2900 block of SW 31st Court in Topeka reference an aggravated robbery that had just occurred, according to Lt. Kelvin Johnson.&nbsp;The victim, who was unharmed, was approached by the suspect who was armed with a knife during the robbery. The suspect was described as a white male approximately six feet tall and skinny wearing a black hoodie and was last seen east bound on foot. A neighborhood search was completed but police did not find the suspect.Just after 7:30a.m. Wednesday officers on patrol located a vehicle that detectives had issued an attempt to locate in connection with the robbery The red Pontiac G6 was parked in front of 1910 SE Illinois. Officers knocked on the door and could see and hear people inside. The subjects refused to come out, but eventually two individuals came out about one hour later. The officers at the scene were given consent to clear the house. Officers at the scene were unable to clear the attic and saw signs that indicated someone had recently been up there. The home was secured and detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence. After several hours of attempting to make contact with anyone inside the residence, the warrant was executed. No other individuals were located inside.<figure>

 </figure>Detectives developed information that the persons of interest in the robbery case were at another location. Police arrested&nbsp; 26-year-old Jordan J. Harper and 32-year-old John C. Riley II and booked them into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Aggravated Robbery, Burglary and Theft.

SEDGWICK COUNTY —A paroled killer and a woman whom he had lived with arrested in the death of the man's girlfriend made their first appearances in court Tuesday, 

According to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office,&nbsp;Ahmad Bey, 39, was charged with first-degree murder and criminal possession of a firearem by a felon. Vanessa  Waner, 34, was charged charged with interference with law enforcement in connection with the death of 41-year-old Melinda Sprague.Wa

Just after 2p.m. on Christmas Eve, a co-worker of&nbsp; Sprague contacted police about her not showing up for work, according to Wichita Police Captain Brett Allred. Police made a missing person report.

During the investigation, police located Sprague's missing 2017 Ford Focus behind a business in the 1500 Block of East Harry in Wichita, according to Allred.&nbsp; They also located her body inside the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police developed information that led to the arrest of 39-year-old Ahmad Bey on a requested charge of first-degree murder and a Kansas Department of Corrections warrant and 34-year-old Vanessa&nbsp; Waner on a requested charge of first-degree murder, according to Allred.

Police investigators learned that Sprague and Bey were in a dating relationship, according to Allred.&nbsp; &nbsp;Bey and Waner lived together.

Police found Bey at a residence in Neodesha, Kansas and brought him back to Wichita. Both suspects were booked into the Sedgwick County jail early Friday, according to online jail records. He was released from prison in July after a conviction for second-degree murder in 1999, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Kansas man charged with killing girlfriend on Christmas Eve

SALINE COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man on a child sex allegations.

On Tuesday, police arrested Daniel Greer, 21, Salina, for allegedly inappropriately touch a 15-year-old girl and refusing to give the girl her cellphone, according to Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus.

The incident allegedly occurred between 6 and 8p.m. December 21, at Greer's residence in the 1000 block of East Ash in Salina.

The girl does not live at the residence, but is an acquaintance of people who do, according to Hanus. An acquaintance of the girl reported the alleged incident to police Tuesday.

Greer was being held on requested charges that include&nbsp;&nbsp;Aggravated indecent liberties with a child, Battery and Criminal deprivation of property.

Kansas man accused of indecent liberties with 15-year-old

SAND SPRINGS, Okla. (AP) — A man stole a pickup truck with a sleeping passenger and a goat inside it and drove it all the way from Missouri, through Kansas and into Oklahoma before releasing the terrified victim and animal and eventually being arrested, authorities say.

According to an arrest report, two men in the truck parked outside of an adult video store in Carthage, Missouri, early Wednesday morning. The driver went inside the store and the passenger fell asleep. When the passenger awoke, a masked man was driving the truck and pointing a gun at his head.

The carjacking suspect, 40-year-old Brandon Kirby, drove from Missouri through Kansas. During the 130-mile ordeal, Kirby took methamphetamine, pistol-whipped the victim and continually threatened him, according to the arrest report. He was eventually arrested in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, after he let the passenger and the goat out of the truck and the victim called 911, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

Kirby, who is from Mannford, west of Tulsa, was jailed on suspicion of kidnapping, pointing a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Jail records don't list an attorney who might speak on his behalf.

The Sand Springs Police Department said on Facebook: “OK 2020, it only took you 4.5 hours to get weird. Let's slow down on the carjacking-goatnapping calls for the remainder of the year.”

Police: Man carjacks truck with sleeping man, goat inside

HARVEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a man's death and have made an arrest.

Just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Harvey County Communications received a call via 911 reporting a disturbance in the 300 block of SE 4, according to a media release from police.

A woman advised she was involved in a physical disturbance with a man. A subsequent call from a different witness also advised there was another man down on the ground who was bleeding.

Officers arrived on scene and found the victim later idenfified by family&nbsp; as 53-year-old Robert Flores down on the sidewalk. The officers attempted live saving measures but Flores was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

Witnesses in the area gave a description of the suspect who was quickly apprehended on foot in the area.&nbsp; 

Andrew Martinez, 35, is being held on requested charges of first-degree murder and domestic battery, according to online jail records.

Authorities say a fight started inside the house, then continued outside where Flores was injured.

A spokesperson for the City of Newton says Flores and Martinez both lived at the home where the fight began.

Martinez has previous convictions for aggravated criminal threat and for drug distribution, according to the Kansas Department of corrections.

According to Flores' niece&nbsp;Debra Lee Flores-McCauley, he had allowed Martinez to move into the family home during his time of need, as she described on facebook., "After Martinez had an altercation with a girlfriend late Tuesday, Flores woke up and asked Andrew to leave his home which resulted in his death.

He died protecting his home and family. This is an extremely painful time for our entire family. We are all struggling. This is the most unimaginable thing and we are processing this one step at a time. We would like to thank the police and medical staff who were on the scene."
