SHAWNEE COUNTY –Law enforcement authorities investigating a jewelry store theft asked the public for help to identify a suspect.

Just before 2 p.m. Monday, the suspect involved in this incident, identified as Javier Hernandez, 31, of Topeka, turned himself in to the Shawnee County Law Enforcement Center.

He was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on a requested charges that include 13 counts of of Theft; Shoplifting, according to online jail records.

Just after 4:30 p.m., August 9,&nbsp; police responded to a reported theft at Kay Jeweler’s at West Ridge Mall, 1801 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka, according to a media release.&nbsp;

 The alleged suspect, as shown in security camera images, left the area in a light blue Chevrolet Malibu with front end damage. He was last seen wearing a purple t-shirt, faded jeans, white shoes and silver chains around his neck. He has a tattoo on the top of his right wrist and on his upper left arm.&nbsp; On August 14, police asked the public for help to identify him.

Suspect faces 13 charges for theft from Kansas jewelry store 

LONDON (AP) — Two weeks after organizers&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/austria-extremism-arrests-security-taylor-swift-7ece0b264f6e4152b8214c9fba8c425b">scrubbed Taylor Swift's concerts in Vienna</a>&nbsp;amid a foiled terror plot, the singer issued her first statement on the cancellation.

“Having our Vienna shows cancelled was devastating,” she wrote in a statement posted to Instagram on Wednesday. “The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows.”

She thanked authorities — “thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives,” she wrote — and said she waited to speak until the European leg of her Eras Tour concluded to prioritize safety.

“Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows,” she wrote.

In the wake of the cancellations, Swift's representatives did not respond to multiple requests for comment from The Associated Press and other news organizations and her social media pages had gone dormant.

“In cases like this one, ‘silence’ is actually showing restraint, and waiting to express yourself at a time when it's right to. My priority was finishing our European tour safely, and it's with great relief that I can say we did that,” she added.

Authorities said a 19-year-old suspect had planned to target spectators outside the Ernst Happel Stadium with knives or homemade explosives, hoping to “kill as many people as possible.”

That suspect and another 17-year-old were taken into custody on Aug. 6, the day before the shows were announced as canceled. A third suspect, 18, was arrested Aug. 8.

Taylor Swift breaks silence on cancellation of Vienna shows 

SHAWNEE COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects on multiple allegations after tracking down a stolen vehicle with a child left inside.

Just after 4 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a reported aggravated robbery of a vehicle near SW 29th and Macvicar Avenue in Topeka, according to police spokesperson Rosie Nichols.

It was reported that the vehicle was stolen by individuals who are known to the vehicle owner and a child was inside. The child was quickly located in the 3200 block of SW Central Park and was taken into police custody.

A short time later, officers located the stolen vehicle near SE 35th and Indiana in Topeka and initiated a traffic stop. The driver fled and initiated a short pursuit, which ended when the vehicle struck a pole near SE 29th and Minnesota where two suspects ran from the crash. Officers then located and took them into custody. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Around 8:30 a.m., police received the report of an unresponsive man in the 2200 block of SE 29th Street. Officers responded and located the individual, who was transported to a local hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. Police investigators believe the two incidents are related.

As a result of the investigation, Lorenzo A. Pattmon III, 21, and Rammelo H. Boatwright, 24, both of Topeka, were arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department on requested charges Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Battery and Aggravated Child Endangerment.

Police found vehicle stolen in Kansas with child inside

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are asking the public for help to locate a suspect who didn't show up for a scheduled sentencing hearing for his role in a homicide that occurred in 2023.

According to Wichita Police, 64-year-old&nbsp;Kevin Harris was out on bond&nbsp; and&nbsp; cut off his ankle monitor.

In August of 2023, police arrested Harris of Lawrence after a 16-hour standoff in Lawrence for the death of&nbsp;51-year-old Jose Lumbreras of Wichita.

Just after 11 p.m. August 22, police learned Harris had fled Wichita and was believed to be inside an apartment in the 1400 block of Bristol Terrace in Lawrence, according to Police Sgt. Drew Fennelly

While working to gather more information from Wichita, officers in Lawrence set up a perimeter on the apartment building, and gathered information that led investigators to believe Harris was there.

The Lawrence Police Crisis Response Team was activated and responded to the area, as well our Crisis Response Negotiators and&nbsp; the Unoccupied Aerial Vehicle team.

Crisis Negotiators were able to establish contact with people in the apartment and verified Harris was there. The Lawrence Police tactical team then began methodically evacuating the apartment building when it was clear the suspect was not going to come out, and was allegedly armed.

After multiple hours of discussion, negotiators were able to convince Harris to allow a woman in the apartment to leave.&nbsp; Following multiple additional hours of discussion, negotiators convinced Harris to also leave the apartment and he peacefully surrendered at&nbsp;3:30 p.m., according to Fennelly.

Kan. man who cut off ankle monitor, skipped sentencing is still missing 

KANSAS CITY —Sheriff Deputies seized enough fentanyl during an arrest last week to kill 327,000 people.

On August 15, deputies located and arrested 21-year-old Josiah J. Langston in the 3900 block of N. Skiles Avenue, according to a media release from the Clay County Sheriff.

Deputies were looking for Langston due to a prior warrant he had for drug trafficking. When deputies approached him, he rammed a patrol car in an attempt to flee, but he was unable to. No one was hurt, and deputies took him into custody.

Inside Langston’s vehicle, investigators located 1.5 pounds of powdered fentanyl, and 0.4 pounds of methamphetamine. They also found $2,000 in cash. Just two milligrams of fentanyl can be a lethal dose, meaning the amount of fentanyl seized could have killed nearly two-thirds of the population of Kansas City, Missouri.

Langston has been charged with two counts of first-degree drug trafficking and one count of resisting arrest. This is in addition to his prior drug trafficking charge. He is now in the Clay County Detention Center on a $450,000 bond. More charges – including federal charges – are possible.

This arrest and seizure were a joint operation conducted by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office’s Drug Task Force and Special Operations Squad.

Police: Suspect wanted for Kan. jewelry store theft turns himself in

ATCHINSON—Law enforcement authorities are investigating an alleged violent crime that sent a victim to the hospital.

Just after 9:30a.m. August 16,&nbsp; police responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 1000 block Kansas Avenue in Atchison, according to Police Chief Mike Wilson.

 A 59-year-old woman reported being pushed down a stairway by 37-year-old Bryan Harris causing injuries. EMS transported the victim to Amberwell Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Police arrested Harris for aggravated battery and domestic battery. He remains in custody, according to online jail records.

According to the Riley County Police Department activity report, 21-year-old Devin Phelps of Manhattan, lost control of a vehicle in the 300 Block of North 9th Street and collided with three parked vehicles.&nbsp;

Phelps was arrested in the 1100 Block of Freemont Street on requested charges of DUI, aggravated battery, and interference with a law enforcement officer.&nbsp; He remains jailed on a $7,000 bond, according to the RCPD.

As a result of the investigation, deputies arrested&nbsp;Duncan Orion Benedict, 39 and Jade Graf, 32, both of Holton. They were booked into the Jackson County Jail on requested charges of distribution of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia and&nbsp;interference with law enforcement.

Sheriff: Couple were selling meth from Kansas home

SEDGWICK COUNTY —A man was sentenced to prison this week in connection with human trafficking in the Wichita area.

 District Judge Christopher Magana sentenced 56-year-old Alan Jones of Wichita, to 92 months with lifetime post release, according to the Sedigwick County District Attorney's office.

On June 25, Jones pled guilty to attempted commercial sexual exploitation of a child, promoting the sale of sexual relations, aggravated assault, attempted robbery, criminal threat and criminal damage to property.

The Judge Magana also ordered $4,961.41 in restitution go to his victims, $2500 to the Human Trafficking Assistance Fund, and $800 to the Sedgwick County Child Advocacy Center.

 </figure>SEDGWICK COUNTY —A man was sentenced to prison this week in connection with human trafficking in the Wichita area. District Judge Christopher Magana sentenced 56-year-old Alan Jones of Wichita, to 92 months with lifetime post release, according to the Sedigwick County District Attorney's office.On June 25, Jones pled guilty to attempted commercial sexual exploitation of a child, promoting the sale of sexual relations, aggravated assault, attempted robbery, criminal threat and criminal damage to property.The Judge Magana also ordered $4,961.41 in restitution go to his victims, $2500 to the Human Trafficking Assistance Fund, and $800 to the Sedgwick County Child Advocacy Center.

Kansas man admitted promoting prostitution 

KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities captured a wanted suspect after a chase on the Interstate in the Kansas City area, according to a social media report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

This driver chose not to stop for troopers. Shortly after, the vehicle crashed into a tree line off the interstate.

The driver was arrested for felony flee and elude. The passenger had 2 felony warrants with full extradition from Arizona for kidnapping and criminal threat.&nbsp;

Troopers found weapons in the vehicle. The KHP did not release the name of the driver or passenger.

The Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation in a federal lawsuit accuses the Jackson County sheriff of threatening to arrest tribal police over a tax dispute with a gas station on the reservation.

The lawsuit against Sheriff Tim Morse signals an escalation in longstanding tensions over law enforcement jurisdiction on the nation’s land.

Joseph “Zeke” Rupnick, Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation chairman, said the sheriff does not collaborate with the nation.

“We have really had a checkered past with Jackson County, specifically the sheriff,” Rupnick said, noting Morse and his wife are former employees of Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

In late May, the lawsuit says, Jackson County sheriff’s officers interfered with tribal police who were trying to serve cease and desist orders at Snak Atak. The nation alleges the gas station failed to charge and report tribe-specific taxes.

Last week, the nation was granted an order of exclusion, allowing tribal police to escort management from the business and to close its doors.

Snak Atak opened in March in the space formerly known as Indian Country Mini Mart. It sits just off northbound U.S. Highway 75, within the bounds of Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation reservation.

Prairie Band Potawatomi Tax Commission officials arrived on site after several months of the business selling “contraband cigarettes” — which means they don’t have the tribal tax sticker — and failing to submit necessary reports, the lawsuit says. The&nbsp;<a href="https://kansasreflector.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Complaint-PBPN-v-Jackson-Co-Sheriff.pdf">court filing</a>&nbsp;alleges tax commission officials were denied access to investigate the store.

Tax commission officials left to seek a cease and desist order. When they returned to the business on the same day, May 28, with tribal police to serve the order and to chain the doors of the business, Jackson County sheriff’s officers arrived and told tribal officials they could be subject to arrest if they did not leave.

“Our civil regulatory authority is absolute within the boundaries of the reservation,” Rupnick said. “Plus (Snak Atak) agreed to abiding by our laws.”

According to the court filing, Snak Atak applied for, and the tax commission approved, liquor, tobacco, business and motor fuel licenses. The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.pbpindiantribe.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/PBPN-Tribal-Tobacco-Wholesaler-Retailer-License-Application-revised-9.13.22.pdf" target="_blank">licenses state</a>&nbsp;the applicant “be bound by and comply with all laws of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and do hereby consensually submit to the jurisdiction of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.”

Raja Rain, manager at Snak Atak, said he did not know about the implications of his store with Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and the tribal police until they showed up at the business in May. Rain said, in an interview before the shuttering of his business, he was not part of the permitting and paperwork phase of the business, but has managed the store since it opened.

“We don’t mind paying the taxes, but they need to make it clear: are we paying state or tribal?” Rain said. “They need to figure out to who we need to pay the taxes.”

Rain said he pays taxes to the state and has “everything legal,” since he and the owners are not members of Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

The nation maintains that tribal membership is irrelevant to following its laws if a business is on the reservation.

Rain expressed concerns about maintaining the business if it has to pay additional taxes.

“We came to have a business,” Rain said. “How (are) we going to survive?”

Rupnick said the business, which is registered as Wamego Store LLC, did not appeal the cease and desist order in Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation District Court. Prairie Band Potawatomi Tax Commission officials returned in June on two additional occasions to investigate compliance, according to the order of exclusion.

The order of exclusion, granted by the nation’s district court to the tax commission, restricts the business from operating on the reservation and permits tribal police to escort employees from the reservation and to secure the business.

The tax commission and tribal police enforced the order without interference from sheriff’s officers on Aug. 8, according to a press release from the nation.

“They’ve pretty much made their own bed,” Rupnick said in an Aug. 7 interview with Kansas Reflector. “So I think that it’s time for us to end our relationship with them.”

Snak Atak’s attorney did not return requests for comment.

The lawsuit against Morse points to the jurisdictional disagreement at Snak Atak, but cites several additional instances, some related to parking violations, where Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation argues county law enforcement overstepped its bounds by dealing with civil, rather than criminal, actions.

The complaint says Morse and his office have “repeatedly and intentionally overstepped their lawful authority and interfered with the nation’s authority over activities on its reservation.”

Morse did not respond to requests for comment.

The nation, according to its complaint, seeks a declaration from the sheriff that the department lacked the authority to interfere at Snak Atak and lacks civil jurisdiction within the reservation, as well as a permanent injunction prohibiting sheriff’s officers from interfering in the nation’s civil-regulatory jurisdiction on the reservation.

“You would think that you would want to work together,” Rupnick said. “If you don’t have to dispatch an officer down to the reservation, why not try and work together with that?”

<a href="https://narf.org/tribal-state-jurisdiction/#kansas" target="_blank">Public Law 280</a>, established in 1953, gave Kansas civil and criminal jurisdiction on tribal lands, which, according to a&nbsp;<a href="http://plainshumanities.unl.edu/encyclopedia/doc/egp.law.044" target="_blank">University of Nebraska Lincoln publication</a>, led “to virtually continuous disputes” and “jurisdictional uncertainty between tribal, city, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.”

<a href="https://nativegov.org/news/its-time-to-end-public-law-280/" target="_blank">Native advocacy groups</a>&nbsp;have called for the end of the law, claiming it cedes power from the tribal police to the county. Rupnick said the same.

Rupnick said he has tried to develop a memorandum of understanding with the sheriff to establish which entity has jurisdiction where, but he said Morse was unwilling. He said he hopes the lawsuit can help forge a greater understanding and collaboration between the law enforcement agencies.

“We shouldn’t be adversaries,” Rupnick said, “Of course, I don’t want crime, but I also don’t want my sovereignty infringed upon either.”

Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation asks federal court to resolve jurisdiction dispute with sheriff

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a school threat in Shawnee County and have made an arrest.

Just before 9p.m. Thursday, an attentive parent contacted the Shawnee County Sheriff's office to report pictures and a text message they found on their child's cell phone, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

The photos and text messages had been sent to the child from another juvenile's cell phone and referenced a potential school shooting.&nbsp; Law enforcement were able to confirm the identity of the juvenile responsible for sending the pictures and threatening text messages

Following an investigation, home assessment and interview with the parents of the juvenile responsible for sending the text message, the 12-year-old was transported to Juvenile Intake and Assessment, according to Deputy Christian.&nbsp; Deputies also seized a black Glock Airsoft pistol.

Law enforcement takes every threat seriously. Parents are strongly encouraged to talk with their children about the seriousness and potential consequences of this type of conduct. The sheriff's office applauds the parent in this matter who came forward and immediately reported it to law enforcement.

12-year-old in custody for alleged Kansas school shooting threat

SEDGWICK COUNTY—A Kansas man accused in a gunfight at a funeral in Wichita has admitted his role in the crime and will face reduced charges.

Last week,&nbsp;Demetrious Carter, 19, pled guilty to aggravated endangering of a child, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.&nbsp; He had&nbsp; originally been charged with with two counts of aggravated assault.

On June 16, 2023.&nbsp; police were dispatched to a shooting call at Life Center Church in the 1100 block of North Oliver in Wichita, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.

First responders encountered a chaotic scene and a crowd of more than 50 people running in different directions. During the initial response officers located an 18-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his right forearm and provided life-saving measures. The 18-year-old victim later identified as Carter was treated for his serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The investigation revealed that several suspects arrived at the parking lot of the church and confronted a large group of people attending a funeral right outside the main door.

After a brief verbal altercation between both groups, an unknown number of people from both groups started to shoot at each other. After initial interviews, officers arrested Carter and transported him to investigations for further questioning before an arrest.

During the incident, several vehicles, and residences around and in front of the church’s parking lot were hit with gunfire. Police also recovered several firearms from the scene.&nbsp;

Charges reduced for Kan. teen in gunfight outside church funeral

KANSAS CITY— Eighteen members and associates of the Pagan’s Motorcycle Club have been indicted by a federal grand jury for a series of armed assaults against members of rival motorcycle clubs, according to the United State's Attorney.

A law enforcement operation conducted Thursday resulted in 15 arrests along with the execution of seven search warrants; two of the defendants were already in custody. More than a dozen law enforcement agencies were involved in the operation that also resulted in the seizure of more than 40 firearms, thousands of rounds of ammunition, body armor and a marijuana grow operation. According to the indictment, Pagan’s is a violent criminal organization that engaged in racketeering, an enterprise that involved illegal drug trafficking. Pagan’s maintains chapters in numerous states, including multiple active chapters in Missouri and Kansas.

Gattis, also known as “Dro,” 40, of Panama City, Florida, were charged in a five-count indictment returned under seal by a federal grand jury in Kansas City, Mo., on Aug. 7, 2024.

The federal indictment was unsealed and made public today following the arrests of the defendants.

The indictment alleges that Pagan’s is territorial and protects its territory from rival motorcycle clubs through violence and intimidation. The primary rivals to Pagan’s in Missouri include the Hells Angels, Outlaws, El Forastero, Galloping Goose, Sons of Silence, and the Bandidos. When members of rival motorcycle clubs were in areas Pagan’s believed to be under its control, says the indictment, Pagan’s threatened and intimidated them with violence. Pagan’s tried to eliminate other motorcycle gangs completely from their territory by assaulting, robbing, extorting and sometimes attempting to murder them, according to the indictment.

The indictment alleges a series of assaults were committed as part of Pagan’s racketeering enterprise.

McGowen and Jeremiah Hahn are charged together in one count of assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering. &nbsp;The indictment alleges they assaulted a rival motorcycle gang member with a dangerous weapon on May 30, 2022.

The indictment alleges they discharged a firearm during an assault on Sept. 17, 2022.

Cottman, Hammer, and Crump are charged together in one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury in aid of racketeering. The indictment alleges they seriously injured a rival motorcycle gang member during an assault on July 20, 2023.

Feds accuse motorcycle club members of crimes in Kan. and Mo.

KANSAS CITY —A Missouri woman was arrested Friday morning on federal charges in connection with an alleged scheme to defraud Elvis Presley’s family of millions of dollars and steal the family’s ownership interest in Graceland, the former home of Elvis Presley, located in Memphis, Tennessee, according to the United State's Attorney.

Lisa Jeanine Findley, also known as Lisa Holden, Lisa Howell, Gregory Naussany, Kurt Naussany, Lisa Jeanine Sullins, and Carolyn Williams, 53, of Kimberling City, Missouri, was charged in a criminal complaint unsealed Friday after her arrest. Findley will make her initial appearance later Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri.

“As alleged in the complaint, the defendant orchestrated a scheme to conduct a fraudulent sale of Graceland, falsely claiming that Elvis Presley’s daughter had pledged the historic landmark as collateral for a loan that she failed to repay before her death,” said Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Nicole M. Argentieri, head of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division. “As part of the brazen scheme, we allege that the defendant created numerous false documents and sought to extort a settlement from the Presley family. Now she is facing federal charges. The Criminal Division and its partners are committed to holding fraudsters to account.”

“As a Memphian, I know that Graceland is a national treasure,” said U.S. Attorney Kevin G. Ritz for the Western District of Tennessee. “This defendant allegedly used a brazen scheme to try to defraud the Presley family of their interest in this singularly important landmark. Of course, all homeowners deserve to have their property protected from fraud, and the Department of Justice will vigorously prosecute anyone who commits financial crimes or identity theft.”

According to court documents, Findley allegedly posed as three different individuals affiliated with a fictitious private lender named Naussany Investments &amp; Private Lending LLC (Naussany Investments). Findley allegedly claimed falsely that Elvis Presley’s daughter had borrowed $3.8 million in 2018 from Naussany Investments, pledged Graceland as collateral for the loan, and failed to repay the debt. 

To settle the purported claim, Findley allegedly sought $2.85 million from Elvis Presley’s family. Findley allegedly fabricated loan documents on which Findley forged the signatures of Elvis Presley’s daughter and a Florida State notary public. 

Findley then allegedly filed a false creditor’s claim with the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles, and a fake deed of trust with the Shelby County Register’s Office in Memphis. Findley also allegedly published a fraudulent foreclosure notice in&nbsp;The Commercial Appeal, one of Memphis’s daily newspapers, announcing that Naussany Investments planned to auction Graceland to the highest bidder on May 23. Finally, when Naussany Investments was sued by Elvis Presley’s family in Tennessee state court as part of an effort to stop the sale of Graceland, Findley allegedly submitted false court filings.

After the scheme attracted global media attention, Findley allegedly wrote to representatives of Elvis Presley’s family, the Tennessee state court, and the media to claim falsely that the person responsible for the scheme was a Nigerian identity thief located in Nigeria.

“Fame and money are magnets for criminals who look to capitalize on another person’s celebrity status,” said Inspector in Charge Eric Shen of U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) Criminal Investigations Group. 

“In this case, Ms. Findley allegedly took advantage of the very public and tragic occurrences in the Presley family as an opportunity to prey on the name and financial status of the heirs to the Graceland estate, attempting to steal what rightfully belongs to the Presley family for her personal gain. 

Postal Inspectors and their law enforcement partners put an end to her alleged scheme, protecting the Presley family from continued harm and stress. This is an example of our relentless investigative work and commitment to bringing criminals to justice for their illegal activity.”

“Today’s announcement of charges and law enforcement action shows our broad approach to investigating allegations of identity theft and mail fraud, which can affect people from all walks of life,” said Special Agent in Charge Joseph E. Carrico of the FBI Memphis Field Office. “We will continue to vigorously pursue cases against individuals, in the United States and abroad, who would steal an identity and use fraud to benefit themselves personally.”

Findley is charged with mail fraud and aggravated identity theft. If convicted, she faces a mandatory minimum of two years in prison for aggravated identity theft and a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for mail fraud.

 </figure>SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are asking the public for help to locate a suspect who didn't show up for a scheduled sentencing hearing for his role in a homicide that occurred in 2023.According to Wichita Police, 64-year-old&nbsp;Kevin Harris was out on bond&nbsp; and&nbsp; cut off his ankle monitor.In August of 2023, police arrested Harris of Lawrence after a 16-hour standoff in Lawrence for the death of&nbsp;51-year-old Jose Lumbreras of Wichita.Just after 11 p.m. August 22, police learned Harris had fled Wichita and was believed to be inside an apartment in the 1400 block of Bristol Terrace in Lawrence, according to Police Sgt. Drew FennellyWhile working to gather more information from Wichita, officers in Lawrence set up a perimeter on the apartment building, and gathered information that led investigators to believe Harris was there.The Lawrence Police Crisis Response Team was activated and responded to the area, as well our Crisis Response Negotiators and&nbsp; the Unoccupied Aerial Vehicle team.Crisis Negotiators were able to establish contact with people in the apartment and verified Harris was there. The Lawrence Police tactical team then began methodically evacuating the apartment building when it was clear the suspect was not going to come out, and was allegedly armed.After multiple hours of discussion, negotiators were able to convince Harris to allow a woman in the apartment to leave.&nbsp; Following multiple additional hours of discussion, negotiators convinced Harris to also leave the apartment and he peacefully surrendered at&nbsp;3:30 p.m., according to Fennelly.If you know Harris or know where he is call police.

MCPHERSON COUNTY —Law enforcement across Kansas continue to  see more drivers traveling well above the posted speed limit. Despite a statewide campaign to crack down on excessive speeding.

Kansas Highway Patrol Lieutenant Rust stopped a vehicle going 101 mph in a 60 mph construction zone in Southern McPherson County on Thursday, according to a social media report from the patrol. The driver had no insurance, no current registration, and a warrant out for their arrest.

Lieutenant Rust made an arrest and transported the individual to jail. The speeding violation alone is $828.00, according to the KHP.

Driver caught traveling over 100mph in Kan. construction zone

LOUDON COUNTY, Virginia —Law enforcement have identified a suspect and a warrant has been issued for the burglary at Trump Campaign Headquarters, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.

&nbsp;Deputies also secured a warrant for the arrest of Toby Shane Kessler, 39, on the charge of Burglary; Entering dwelling house, etc., with intent to commit larceny, assault and battery or other felony) in connection with the break in at the local office of Trump for President 2024 campaign in Ashburn, VA, Sunday.

 The office, in the 20000 block of Ashbrook Place, is being leased by the Trump campaign and also serves as the headquarters of the Virginia 10th District Republican Committee.

Just after 9p.m. Sunday, the sheriff's office was contacted about the burglary and deputies responded. Investigators have video surveillance of the suspect. He is a white adult male, wearing dark clothing, a dark cap, and a backpack when he entered the location.

“It is rare to have the office of any political campaign or party broken into,” said Sheriff Mike Chapman. “We are determined to identify the suspect, investigate why it happened, and determine what may have been taken as well as what may have been left behind.”

On Thursday afternoon two 14-year-old girls from Augusta were arrested for first-degree murder connected to Johnson’s death.

 Johnson was discovered deceased in her residence on September 3, 2023.The teens are being held at separate juvenile detention centers. Formal charges are pending.

In May, Governor Laura Kelly has issued an executive order offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who provides information that led to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for Johnson’s murder. 

Under the same conditions, the family of Joanne Johnson has offered to match the reward for information, increasing the total reward to $10,000.

14-year-olds accused in the murder of  93-year-old Kansas woman

RENO COUNTY — Two people were arrested following a Wednesday chase in Reno County. 

On Wednesday, the Reno County Sheriff’s Office was informed that a victim of a previous theft had spotted the suspect in Pretty Prairie. The Sheriff’s Office responded to the area and found Brian Palmer and Krystal Estes leaving a residence.

 The pair were in a Brown Chevy truck with a flat bed. Deputies attempted to stop the truck, but it fled the area. After a lengthy chase, the Brown Chevy came to a stop and both Brian and Krystal attempted to run. Neither were successful and were apprehended. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the Brown Chevy truck had been stolen in Stafford County. 

Estes was arrested on a requested charge of Possession of the stolen truck and Interference.

Palmer was arrested on requested charges of Flee and Elude, Possession of the truck, Possession of Meth, Criminal Damage and several out of County Warrants. In addition, Palmer was also arrested for several other crimes that occurred over the last several months. These charges include 2 burglaries, Felony Theft and Trespassing.&nbsp;

 </figure>RENO COUNTY — Two people were arrested following a Wednesday chase in Reno County. On Wednesday, the Reno County Sheriff’s Office was informed that a victim of a previous theft had spotted the suspect in Pretty Prairie. The Sheriff’s Office responded to the area and found Brian Palmer and Krystal Estes leaving a residence.<figure>
