Marcella McMahon, 91, of Abilene passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022. She was born November 29, 1930 in Falls City, Nebraska, the daughter of Patrick and Marcella (Coyne) McMahon. Marcella grew up in Falls City, Nebraska. The family moved to Abilene when she was a senior in High School. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1948 and continued her education and graduated from Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas in 1952 with an Education Degree. 

Marcella taught second grade for 44 years at Garfield Elementary. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Retired Teachers Association. Marcella is survived by her brother, Patrick McMahon Jr, of Hutchinson, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ella Jo Callahan, sister, Mary Neerman and brother-in-law Charles Neerman; sister, Marjorie Caldarulo and brother-in-law Dominick Caldarulo; sister-in-law Carolyn McMahon; nieces Joann (Caldarulo) Link; nephewsPatrick Callahan and Eric Hammerschmidt and infant nieces Cassandra Link and Bridgette Kentopp. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 11, 2022 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Abilene with Father Peter O’Donnell as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M., Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home with the family receiving friends following.

&nbsp;Henry Joseph “Joey” Stazenski Jr., 68, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Thursday (March 3, 2022) at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Born September 30, 1953 in Prescott, Arizona, Henry was the son of Henry Joseph and Marjorie Irene (Swope) Stazenski Sr.&nbsp; He married Cindy Stazenski on May 30, 1975 in Prescott, Arizona.&nbsp; She survives.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Henry served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Henry loved the outdoors.&nbsp; He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed nature by camping.&nbsp; He was a member of the Harold Johnson American Legion Post No. 172 in Wamego and the American Legion Riders.&nbsp; Henry loved spending time with his family, especially being “Papa” to his grandchildren.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Following his discharge from the Marines, Henry worked as a mechanic for the City of Prescott, AZ.&nbsp; He then became a slot machine technician and worked for the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for 28 years until his retirement.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Survivors include his wife, Cindy; a daughter, Naomie Stazenski Boatwright of Wamego; a son, Brian Stazenski of Salina, KS; eight grandchildren, Jasmine L. Boatwright, Marek J. Boatwright, Mary-Anne E. Stazenski, Briana J. Stazenski-Boatwright, Roy J. “R.J.” Stazenski-Boatwright, Alexandria L. Stazenski, Sabastain D. K. Danridge and Gabrielle R. Flitman; two brothers, Gary Stazenski (B.J.) of Prescott, AZ and David Stazenski (Berneda) of Carmi, IL; three sisters, Juanita Apolinar of Chester, ID, Elaine Barney of Chester, ID and Deborah Yesensky (Joe) of Quartzsite, AZ; two brothers in law, Dennis D. Taylor of San Diego, CA and Terry L. Taylor of Los Angeles, CA; &nbsp;and several nieces and nephews.

Leroy Dean Jackson Jr., 62, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022 at K.U. Medical Center St. Francis Campus in Topeka, Kansas.&nbsp;

Dean was the son of Leroy Dean and Joan (Palenske) Jackson Sr. and was born on October 2, 1959 in Wamego, Kansas.&nbsp; He married Gina Rogers on October 20, 1984 in Alta Vista, Kansas. She survives.&nbsp; Dean was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Wamego.&nbsp;

He graduated from Wamego High School and attended Colby Community College.&nbsp; He worked for various farmers and ranchers in the area before beginning his career with the Kansas Department of Transportation in 1984.&nbsp; After 33 years of service, he retired in 2017 as an Equipment Operator Specialist.&nbsp; Even though the work was hot on summer days and cold during snowstorms, he enjoyed the camaraderie of working with his fellow co-workers.&nbsp;

Dean loved family, friends, being outside, enjoying wildlife and hunting, animals, livestock, and helping on the farm.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;He was multi-talented like his father, and could fix almost anything and everything he worked on.&nbsp; With his talent and patience, he also enjoyed doing woodworking and gunsmithing.&nbsp;&nbsp; When his children Kurtis and Emily were enrolled in the 4-H Shooting Sports program, he became an instructor and coach. He enjoyed teaching many youth throughout the years. &nbsp;Each year, Dean was actively involved with the annual fundraiser for the Flint Hills Jr. Shooter Legion.&nbsp;

Dean was a Founding member, Assistant Chief, and Treasurer for the Wabaunsee Township Fire Department No. 8 serving as a member for 31 years.&nbsp; He lived in the townsite of Wabaunsee most of his life and took pride with being able to serve on the fire department.

Survivors include his wife, Gina; son, Kurtis Jackson (Savannah) of Manhattan, KS; daughter, Emily Rolph (Marc) of Olsburg, KS; and grandson, Myles Rolph which was his pride and joy.&nbsp; Parents, Leroy and Joan Jackson, brother, Duane Jackson (Carol); and sister, DeAnn Jackson (Brad Redemer) all of&nbsp;Wamego, KS, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by a brother in law, Mark Morgan, and father in law, Herbert Rogers.

Cremation arrangements were in the care of Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Private family graveside services were held in the Wabaunsee Township Cemetery with Pastor Jim Price officiating.

The family will host a Celebration of Life with a visitation on Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the KanEquip Arena Building at the Wabaunsee County Fairgrounds in Alma, KS.&nbsp; Friends and family are invited to attend.

Barbara Ann Runnels, 60, of Manhattan, KS, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 30, 2022. Cremation will take place under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home in Junction City, KS. A memorial service will be announced soon. Barbara was born February 15, 1962, in Junction City, KS, the baby girl of Elijah and Sondra (Hudley) Miller. Barbara was a beautiful, active, funny and a joy of laughter. She was high spirited woman who had a lot of pride in being in her own skin. She passed that spirit on to many other people. Barbara lived in the Junction City community for nearly sixty years. She was a large part of Junction City Middle School where she worked for a long time as para-professional. Her biggest legacy with USD #475 was assisting with the girls basketball coach. She also volunteered with the boys and girls club. She was a coach and instructor with discipline and always left her students with a smile on their face. She was certainly a Junction City Blue Jay! Barbara was a loving mother to her son Brandon Runnels. Brandon passed away June 22, 2021. Other survivors include one brother, Ernest Miller of Manhattan, KS and twin sisters, Janice Smith of Henderson, KY and Janet James of Manhattan, KS; numerous nephews, nieces and a host of other friends and family members. She is now reunited with those family members that preceded her in death including her parents and son Brandon. May she now rest in peace and paradise.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Heidi was born September 26, 1943, in Karlsruhe, Germany. Heidi worked as a child care provider for many years in Junction City, KS. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, window shopping, being outside walking her dog and spending time at the park. When she was able, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her family was very important to her. She was a member of Church of Our Savior. She married Calvin D. Dixon in 1972, in Germany. Survivors include her husband Calvin of Crystal Springs, MS; one son, Mandrell Dixon and his wife Stephanie of Junction City, KS; two grandchildren, Kainen and Alannah. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Helga.

Karen Sue McNee, 69 of Clay Center, died Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.&nbsp; She was born on September 5, 1952 in Clay Center, the daughter of Elmo and Wilma (Fyfe) McNee.&nbsp; She grew up in Clay Center and graduated from CCCHS in 1971.&nbsp; She worked at the Key Mill egg plant, Mac’s Diner, Cedar Court Restaurant and the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor.&nbsp; Karen was a member of the Clay Center Wesleyan Church. Bella Mae Haynie, beloved wife and mother, passed away on April 3, 2022, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan at the age of 96. Bella was born January 26, 1926, in Aurora, Kansas, to Ronald and Reina (Morrissette) Letourneau. She grew up on her parent’s farm in Aurora, and graduated from high school in May of 1943. The following summer, Bella studied at Kansas State University, where she received her teaching certificate, and at the age of 17, she began teaching in a one room school with 8 students. In December of 1944, Bella married Leo Wirtz and traveled with him to Chicago, Oklahoma, and Texas as he served in the US Navy during World War II. Their first son was born in November of 1945, just one day before Leo had to return to duty in Texas, pick up orders, and deploy to Panama. After the war, Bella and Leo settled in Manhattan, Kansas, where Leo received his degree in Electrical Engineering, and became a professor at Kansas State. During their 27 year marriage, they were blessed with 5 more children. Bella devoted her life to her home and family, nurturing, loving, and teaching her three sons and three daughters. Once her youngest child was well into school, Bella became a teller at Kansas State Bank, where she worked for more than 25 years... serving the community and balancing her bank drawer to the penny every day! Even while raising her family and working full time, Bella found joy in a myriad of hobbies and was never without a project. She helped design and build two of her homes, designed and crafted stained glass, sewed exquisite quilts, gardened with a passion, and painted ceramics. She loved to play bridge, regularly fed the wild birds that flocked to her yard, and in her later years enjoyed yoga and strength training at the senior center where she was an inspiration to her younger classmates. All six of Bella’s children were baptized at Seven Dolors Catholic Church and attended school there. She was a deeply spiritual woman, regularly attending mass, making holy hours, volunteering at the budget shop, and spending quiet hours at the adoration chapel. At home, she began her day with prayers, and ended it by saying her rosary at bedtime. When her husband, Leo, passed away suddenly in 1971, Bella was 45 years old, and a widow with six children. Though devastated, she persevered and was a source of strength for them. She was blessed when she eventually met Richard Haynie, and they were married in 1975. Bella and Richard were married for 47 years. They built a new home together, joined their lives and families, and deeply loved one another. Bella was an amazing, inspiring woman. She was greatly loved and will be desperately missed...but will remembered with such joy and so much gratitude for having known her. Survivors include her husband Richard of the home; five children: Ronald Wirtz (Karen) of Leawood, KS, Robert Wirtz (Fran Walker) of Atlanta, GA, Deborah Kirby (Steve) of St. George, KS, Thomas Wirtz (partner Korrina Kientz ) of Manhattan, and Patricia Wirtz (Doug Berke) of Mansfield, TX: The three additional children she gained when she married Richard: Richard M. David Allen Ramsey, 58, of Manhattan, KS passed away on April 3, 2022. He was born at Irwin Army Hospital, Fort Riley, KS on April 25, 1963 to Shirley L. (Ebberts) and Robert F. Ramsey, Lt Col. David grew up in Manhattan, Ks, graduated from Manhattan High School in 1981. After graduation he started his career in the car stereo industry, worked with his brother Radley at Team Electronics and then Radley’s business, Omni Electronics, in Lawrence. He returned to Manhattan and worked at Audio Junction in Junction City, KS. In 1991 he attended Manhattan Area Technical College studying computer repair technology. He graduated as a member of The National Honor Society in 1993 and began his 24 year career with Logan Business Machines. In 2017, he started Ramsey Home Repair, which he continued until he became ill and was no longer able to do the work he really enjoyed. In May 2021, he became ill with congestive heart failure and while being evaluated for a heart transplant at The University of Kansas he was diagnosed with a rare condition, AL Amyloidosis, which was the cause of his heart failure. David prided himself in being a true “townie”, spending his entire childhood growing up on Houston St. He was an avid KSU athletics fan, fondly remembering going to the Big 8 basketball tournaments in Kansas City as a child. His greatest fan experiences were attending the 1998 and 2003 football wins against Nebraska. He enjoyed gardening, taking pride in his well-kept yard, vehicles and home. He coached his sons and nephews recreational baseball teams, but got his greatest joy spending time with his sons and family at the lake skiing, boating and riding the Sea Doo with the boys. David married Melanie Marguerite (Martin) Ramsey December 30, 1995 at St Isadore’s Catholic Student Center. They have two sons, Ryan and Cole of Manhattan. He is survived by his wife and sons. His sister Jami Ramsey of Manhattan; father-in-law Don Martin of Clay Center KS; sisters-in- law Francine Martin of Topeka KS, Angela Martin of Manhattan KS; brothers-in-law Scott (Polly) Martin of Aurora CO, Steven (Charity) Martin of Terrell TX and Timothy (Roxanna) Martin of Clay Center KS; nine nephews and seven nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Radley Ramsey, of Manhattan KS, and Stuart Ramsey of Houston TX; mother-in-law Lois Martin of Clay Center, KS. Per David’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Friday, April 8 from 6:00-7:30 PM at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home. Heidi was born September 26, 1943, in Karlsruhe, Germany. Heidi worked as a child care provider for many years in Junction City, KS. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, window shopping, being outside walking her dog and spending time at the park. When she was able, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her family was very important to her. She was a member of Church of Our Savior.&nbsp; She married Calvin D. Dixon in 1972 in Germany.S

Esteban “Steve” Anguiano, 84, of Abilene, KS passed away on April 2, 2022. Steve was born at his childhood home in Manchester, KS on December 26, 1937 via a midwife. Steve is the second oldest of ten children, five boys and five girls, born to Silvestre Anguiano and Maria “Mary” Garcia Anguiano. Steve attended Manchester Grade School, went on to attend Abilene High School and graduated high school from Dickinson County Community High School in Chapman, KS in 1956. Following his high school graduation, Steve learned the trade of finishing concrete, working on Ft. Riley and the expansion of Abilene's historic Eisenhower Library.

 Steve enlisted in the United States Army in 1960, where he served for two years. He then served a third and fourth year with the Army Reserves and National Guard. Steve’s military service took him to Fort Carson, Colorado where he worked in communications. His military service also included Wyoming and Wisconsin for two weeks each summer. Steve was very proud of his military service. Steve worked for the City of Abilene, KP&amp;L power plant, Jeffrey Energy Center, KP&amp;L and Westar, finally retiring from Oneok in 1999. Following his retirement, Steve went back to finishing concrete for people strictly by word of mouth referral. Steve married his bride, Shirley Wetzel Anguiano, on September 4, 1965. He would say that it was love at first sight. Over the next several years, Steve and Shirley had three daughters: Kari Anguiano Hinkle (Tim) of Woodbine, KS, Natalie Anguiano Strickland (Michael) of Abilene, KS, and Jennifer Anguiano (Ryan Lovig) of Manhattan, KS. Steve then became the granddad of three grandsons; Trenton Weaver (Natalie), Rowe Hinkle (Kari), Mason Hinkle (Kari), a step-granddaughter, Bryce Strickland (Natalie &amp; Michael) and finally his granddaughter who he referred to lovingly as Granddad's Little Miss Bentley, Bentley Strickland (Natalie). Steve spent many summers on the softball fields. He coached softball for the Abilene Ike’s for 25 years, taking several teams to championship games. He was the first coach for the Abilene Ike’s to go undefeated through the regular season and postseason tournament. He coached two of his daughters, Kari and Jennifer during his tenure as a coach. His final coaching season was the summer of 2001.Steve lived a full life. He married the love of his life, worked hard every day, and enjoyed his family. Steve was always striving to better himself, not just for himself but for his family. He was an incredibly hard worker, very proud, and quite a perfectionist. Steve also loved sports, especially the game of basketball and girl's softball.He had a heart to help, always helping family and neighbors when needed. Steve was a member of the St. Andrew’s church for the majority of his life and a proud lifetime member of The Knights of Columbus.

Steve is survived by his bride, Shirley, his daughters: Kari, Natalie, and Jennifer and his grandchildren. He is also survived by his nine siblings: Nellie Barrett, Lucy Davis, Phil Anguiano, Patti Anguiano, Frances Sanchez, Joe Anguiano, Junior Anguiano, David Anguiano, and Celia Gonzalas; sister in-law Karen (Ron) Timm; sister-in-law in law Orrene Wetzel, as well as many nephews and nieces, extended family and loved ones. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Silvestre and Mary; his parents-in-law Raymond and Vivian Wetzel; brothers-in- law Sonny Davis, Gene Davis, Sam Gonzales, George Barrett, Henry Sanchez, and Kenny Wetzel; sister-in-law Kay Anguiano, nephews Greg and Dan Barrett, Matthew Sanchez, and Raymond Grimes; niece Becky Nielsen, and dear friend Kate Taylor.

Steve’s loss will resonate in our hearts and in our community. Mass of Christian Burial for Steve will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2022 at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Abilene with Father Peter O’Donnell as Celebrant. A parish rosary will be 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the church with the family receiving friends following. Steve’s final resting place will be in the Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Our beloved mother,&nbsp;Nadine Ruth Stueve, longtime resident of Wamego and active member of the Mt Calvary Lutheran Church, passed away on April 2nd, 2022. She was 91 years old.

Nadine was born May 18th, 1930, to Clarence and Esther (Snell) Karman in Junction City, Kansas. She graduated from Junction City High School in 1948 and worked as a bookkeeper for a few years.

On May 11th, 1950, she married Fred Stueve and moved to Abilene, Kansas where they lived for many years. She worked as a homemaker and her activities during this time centered around her four daughters. She served as a Girl Scout leader and was active in the PTA.

Nadine attended Kansas State University, graduating with a BS in Math Education in 1974 and an MS in Special Education in 1984. She taught in the Junction City and Manhattan school systems and enjoyed working with her math students. They appreciated her as well; she was approached many times by her former students who would thank her for being their teacher.

She played the organ at church, participated in Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), and volunteered at the Riley County Genealogy Society located at the Riley County Historical Museum in Manhattan. Nadine and her husband, Fred, were passionate Wildcat fans and held football season tickets at Kansas State for more than 40 years, just recently turning them over to her daughters. Nadine and Fred moved to Wamego, Kansas in 1977.Nadine is survived by her four daughters: Susan Lunas, Betty D’Elosua (Ralph), Bonnie Kurka (Miro), and Nancy Dekat (Greg); seven grandchildren: Lara Schwoebel, Britainy Schwoebel, Michaela Kemp, Matthew Kurka, Andrew Stanley, Andrea Leonard, and Ashley Oliphant; and six great grandchildren: Brooke Prockish, Nautami Niedfeldt, Rylar Halverson, Harrison Kemp, Kade Oliphant, and Cora Oliphant. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Fred Stueve, her parents, Clarence and Esther Karman, and her son-in-law, Les Lunas.We will remember her smile, her love for her family, friends, and students. Wanda Jean Zeckser, 95, of Alma, Kansas, passed away on Friday (April 1, 2022) at Oakley Place in Topeka, Kansas.

Born June 20, 1926 in Alma, Kansas, Wanda was the daughter of Wheldon and Ethel Horne Falk. She married August Junior Zeckser on November 28, 1944 in St. John Lutheran Church in Alma. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2001.

Wanda was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Alma where she taught Sunday School for many years and was active with the Friendship Circle and the Quilters.&nbsp; Wanda was an accomplished quilter and enjoyed sewing and arts and crafts.

Wanda was a 1942 graduate of Alma High School. She worked as a telephone operator and then as a secretary to Dr McKnight until her marriage.&nbsp; She later was employed in various jobs at the courthouse in Alma until she and her husband moved to a farm south of Alma in 1948.&nbsp; She helped her husband on the family farm and raised her family until her children were older.&nbsp; She then drove a school bus and was employed by the State of Kansas as a Motor Carrier Inspector at the weigh station on I-70 between the Alma and McFarland exits. Following her retirement from the State in 1988 she began driving the Wabaunsee County transportation bus and medical van for more than 10 years until her retirement.

Survivors include three daughters, Charla Hess (Alan) of Alma, Jean Kartman of Topeka, KS and Joye Richardson (Mike) of Topeka, KS; a son in law, Gerald McPherson of Kansas City, KS; a daughter in law, Georgie Zeckser of Molalla, OR; eight grandchildren, MinHo Zeckser (Samantha), Ingrid Zeckser, Jennifer Ralph (Tom), Mikki Romani (Joshua), Chrissa Webster (Matthew), Jeremy Hess (Julie), Michael Richardson (Vanessa) and Christopher Kartman (Holly); nineteen great grandchildren, Reed, Mary Eleanor, Stephen, Derek, Dylan, Nikko, Josephine, Julian, Emily, Faith, Isaac, Ellery, Mary Grace, Jillian, Olivia, Cruz, June, Louis and Heidi; a brother, Paul Falk (Adeline) of Topeka, KS; two sisters in law, Shirley Falk of Harveyville, KS and Evelyn Zeckser of Alma; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Zeckser was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, August Junior; a son, Stephen D. Zeckser; a daughter, DeLois McPherson; a sister, Maureen Woellhof; and three brothers, Gene Falk, Warren Falk and Larry Falk.

Donald R. Wagoner, 89, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Sunday (January 16, 2022).

&nbsp;Born May 17, 1932 in Wamego, Don was the son of Walter and Ada (Berroth) Wagoner.

Upon his graduation from High School, Don served his country in the U. S. Air Force for 4 years until 1955.&nbsp; While in the Air Force, Don met Mary Loy Seely of Denison, Texas and they were united in marriage on February 14, 1956.

Don was employed at Kansas State University for 35 years, last working at Umberger Hall.&nbsp; He retired in 1992.

Following his retirement, Don and Loy enjoyed spending time with their family and friends. Together they became involved as sponsors and traveled on several Santa Fe Trail trips with area youth.&nbsp; They also enjoyed helping serve with many mission trips.

Don lived a full life serving God and his family.&nbsp; He was an active member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in St. George, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Mary Loy Wagoner; three children, Mark Wagoner and his wife Nancy of Gurley, NE, Beth Zeilinger and her husband Frank of Wamego, KS and Paul Wagoner and his wife Kathy of Wamego, KS; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Andrew, Staci, Matthew, Bryan, Tiffany, Jenna and Megan; eleven great grandchildren, Rhyan, Braydon, Briahna, Brailey, Liani, Brenn, Blake, Trey, Jax, Kate and Ava.

Mr. Wagoner was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Greg Wagoner; and two brothers.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday (April 30, 2022) at 10:00 a.m. in the Lighthouse Baptist Church, 308 Lincoln Ave., St. George, Kansas with Pastor Jim Lowry officiating.

Kathryn Love, 70, of Manhattan and Wamego, passed away early Tuesday, March 29th, at Ascension Via Christi Health Hospital surrounded by loved ones.

Kathy was born January 18, 1952, in Westmoreland, Kansas, the daughter of Laura M. Enlow and John L. Brown. She was a treasured community builder who worked in support and service for all those she knew. She spent many years working in public service with the State of Kansas. Her fondest memories were working to build a home and home business with her late husband, Ernie Love. Kathy was the foundation of their horse boarding business where they kept horses and created families for those that boarded with them.

Kathy loved life and took every chance she could to enjoy the everyday miracles with gratitude and joy. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joys. She loved to dance and her laughter was medicine to those she shared it with. Always willing to give her support to those in need, Kathy was an example of a vibrant, loving-hearted nurturer. Kathy was an avid traveler who was always ready for her next adventure. She enjoyed traveling to the mountains of Colorado and Tennessee, the beaches in California and Florida, and she had a special fondness for Texas. She had a passion for great food and baking. Kathy was always looking for her next favorite recipe and spent days making delicious treats for friends and family during the Christmas season. Her soft sugar cookies, fudge, and white chocolate popcorn were an expected treat for those she loved. Over the years she grew fond of gardening and was excited to begin planting her garden this spring. She had just begun to get her garden in order as the days were growing warmer.

 Kathy is survived by her mother, Laura Crabs (Enlow); her sisters, Susie Hofmann (Brown) and Barbie (Brown); her daughters, Wendy Murphy and Marilyn Ortega, her grandchildren, Melanie Moss, Jordan VanderZee (Murphy), Malina Murphy, Nia Young, and Gracie Ortega; her great-grandchildren, Aubrianna Conard, Trinity Conard, Isaac Eytcheson, and Noah VanderZee; countless nieces and nephews; and all of her bonus family that she built over the years. Nancy was born in Manhattan, on January 11, 1952, the daughter of the late Emma Eveline (Spain) and B Sylvester Gourley. She graduated from Manhattan High School with the Class of 1970. She was united in marriage at the 1st Baptist Church, where she belonged, to Harvey J. Larson. Nancy was a member of the Post Office Auxillary Letter Carriers Auxillary Union; PTA/PTO at the Northview Schools; was a former and original board member of the Boys/Girls Club and loved to make crafts, wood painting, sewing, and other wonderful time sharing hobbies.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Harvey Larson of their home; a daughter, Angela Christine Motley, of Manhattan, KS; two sons, Allen Ryan Larson, of Phoenix Ariz.; Michael P. B. Larson, of Manhattan, a brother, Tom Gourley, husband of Gloria, of Neosha, MO; She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tyler Motley, Kaitlyn Motley, Ryan Larson, Alyssa Larson, and her great-granddaughter, Emma Mae Motley. She was born on December 9, 1960, in San Diego, CA, the daughter of Frank and Helen (Foster) Kemptmen. She grew up in San Diego and graduated from San Diego High School. Tracy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was living in San Diego, CA when she met her husband Jeff in 1983. They were together for 39 years. In 1990 they moved to Manhattan, KS where she began her career as a Customer Service Manager at Wal Mart. In 1999 they moved to Taylor, MI before returning to the Manhattan and Riley, KS area in 2010.

Survivors include her husband Jeff D. Hull of Riley; two children: Michele Chavis-Puett and Jeff D. Hull, Jr. both of Riley; one brother Stephen Noland; three grandchildren: Bryce (Shambrey) Chavis, Brittany (Jordan) McCord, and Amber Puett; and one great-grandson Sauyer McCord.Tracy was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Michael and David Noland, and her son-in-law Jason Puett.

Tracy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She loved listening to music &amp; singing karaoke, and we all know she loved her Coca-Cola. She never went anywhere without it. She enjoyed spending time with her family the most. Especially her grandkids. They were the light of her life. She loved cheering them on at their sporting events and other activities. Their grandma was their biggest fan! Her most recent pride and joy was her great-grandson, Sauyer. Her life was centered around her children &amp; grandkids. She cherished every second she spent with them. Tracy is leaving behind a large family that extends to many close friends. We are all going to miss her dearly.

Cremation is planned with the family to receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2022, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home. Private family inurnment will be in the Grandview/Mill Creek Cemetery north of Riley.

She was born on December 9, 1960, in San Diego, CA, the daughter of Frank and Helen (Foster) Kemptmen. She grew up in San Diego and graduated from San Diego High School. &nbsp;Roger Eugene Luthi, age 73, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away March 28, 2022, from pancreatic cancer at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, surrounded by his family. He was born May 15, 1948, in Abilene, Kansas, the son of the late Marion (Pete) and Vera (Coup) Luthi.&nbsp; Roger grew up in Wakefield, Kansas graduating from Wakefield High School in 1966. He attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, Kansas, and was a member of the Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity. Roger graduated in 1970 with a degree in Accounting. For several years, Roger served in the Kansas National Guard, was treasurer of the Riley County Democratic party and involved with the Manhattan Landlord Association. Roger was active in the property management business in Manhattan and owned Alliance Property Management. He was also formerly employed by Cundith CPA, Varney and Associates and Kansas Farm Bureau.&nbsp; Roger was married to Claudia Wright on February 27, 1971, in Lyons, KS. They divorced in 1993.

 Roger is survived by his two daughters, Andrea Hindes (Chad) and Amy Mitchell both of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Ethan McKnight (16), Brayden (16) and Taylor Hindes (19) and Caden Mitchell (13); fiancé, Kathy Dahnke of Manhattan, KS; and sister, Nancy Hillan (Richard) of Manhattan, KS, Stepbrother, Robert Lander (Joy) of Owasso, OK, and many cousins, several aunts, and an uncle.

Roger was a loving father and grandfather and was especially proud of his family. He made several trips to Overland Park to watch his grandchildren play sports. He was a Kansas State University sports fan and enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs. Roger was a generous and kind friend and mentor to many. If Roger wasn’t busy managing a rental property, he could be found reading one of his many newspaper or magazine subscriptions or enjoying a margarita at Carlos O’Kelly’s.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 8, at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas. Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. with the Service beginning at 2:00 p.m.&nbsp; Private burial service will&nbsp; follow.

Esta taught school in Alma, Alta Vista, White City and Fort Riley, KS. She later worked as a Secretary at Kansas State University. She later joined her husband Roland Lee Glessner with the family rental business in Junction City, KS.&nbsp; She had a strong membership with the Junction City Landlord Association and the Junction City Chamber of Commerce. She married Roland Lee Glessner in 1955. Survivors inlcude three sons, Philip Douglas Anderson of Junction City, KS, Marc E. Glessner of Junction City, KS and Grant L. Anita Marie Hummel, a resident of rural Hope, KS passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 3 p.m.&nbsp; at Memorial Hospital in Abilene, KS at the age of 80.

Anita was born May 15, 1941 at home in Hope, KS, the daughter of Joseph Frederick and Irene Grace Hinkle Altmann. Anita grew up in the small town of Hope, KS and attended all her years of schooling there. She graduated from high school in 1959. On June 12, 1960 she was united in marriage to Charles W. Hummel at The First Christian Church in Hope, KS. He preceded her in death on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 3pm. They built their life on the family farm and raised 2 children, Roger and Robin. Anita stayed at home while the children were young and in 1975, started her career at the Hope Coop as bookkeeper, where she worked for 28 years, watching the company grow and expand to (NCKC) North Central KS Coop. She retired in May 2003.

Anita managed the books and affairs of the family farm for as long as can be remembered, she never retired from this job. She excelled at being the Chief Bean Counter and Fierce Contender of Finances when it came to her home and farm. Hummel Farms, LLC is now in its 4th generation of farming.

Anita was a member of the Lyona United Methodist Church; serving as M.Y.F. sponsor, UMW, Board of Trustees, Pastor Parish Relations, helped with the parsonage remodeling, directed the Valley Singers choir, sang in the Cantata, orchestrated the making of homemade ice cream for the Annual Ground Hog Supper and so much more.

Anita also served on the TCT board of directors for 12 years, Dickinson County Extension Council, was 4-H Club Leader for the Mt. Ayr Go-Getters, served on Enterprise Estates board, member of the Abilene Christian Women’s Club, EEU, Women of Woodbine, and a member of Dickinson County Rural Life for over 60 years.

Anita loved to be active in her community, but she especially loved being active with her family. She coordinated and planned the annual Hummel Family Trip, spent countless hours teaching all her grandchildren how to bake and also to cook a nutritious, colorful meal. She loved her gardens and her flowers, loved going on bus trips (sometimes twice a year) and marveled at any cattle show, dog show, ball game, concert, banquet, etc. that her grandchildren were involved in. She was a proud Grandma indeed! She was a sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to her loving family.

In 2012, Charles and Anita were awarded Class of 2012 Master Farmer Master Farm Homemaker Award. This award was very important to Anita as she was committed to life on the farm and the importance of being caretaker of the land.

Anita is survived by her son, Roger Hummel and wife Sheila Hasselman Hummel of rural Hope, her daughter, Robin Hummel Volkman and husband Darrin Volkman of rural Hope. Grandchildren: Ryan Hummel and wife Jackie; Jill Krier and husband Zach, Tyler Hummel and fiancé Erin; Kyle Hummel; Justin Volkman and Kyanna Volkman. Great-Grandchildren: Kale Hummel and Camden Krier. Two sisters, Betty Schlesener of Hope and Nancy Rogers and husband Don of California. She was preceded in death by an infant sister Shirley, her parents Joe and Irene, and husband Charles.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Lyona United Methodist Church in rural Junction City, KS on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. Pastor Kris Brinlee will officiate. Burial will be at the Lyona Cemetery at 1850 Wolf Road, Junction City, KS. The family will have visitation at the Lyona United Methodist Church Monday evening, April 4, 2022 from 3-7 p.m. with the family present from 5-7 p.m.

Dolores Ann (O’Neill) Poole, 93, died Sunday, March 27, 2022 at Chapman Valley Manor after several months of declining health. She was born August 8, 1928 in Manhattan, KS to Bert Elija and Verona Anna (Thoes) O’Neill. She enjoyed her early years on the family farm on Deep Creek and attended Mineral Springs grade school. Her family later moved to Manhattan where she graduated from high school and took courses at Kansas State University. She, her cousin, and her best friend then struck out and attended an aviation communications school in Nebraska. She worked for United Airlines in Denver, CO for several years. Dee returned to KS when she married William Davis Poole on October 28, 1948. They farmed on McDowell Creek in Geary County with his parents, Grover and Louisa, and his brother, Grant and his wife Mickey. In her early married life she became a licensed pilot. She was also a school bus driver for many years on McDowell Creek and for Manhattan School District 383. In later years, she and other like-minded “Bullheaded Women” joined forces to protect and enjoy their special part of the Flint Hills. She and Willie made a lifetime trip to Switzerland with his cousins to visit Swiss relatives, and she carried on her mother-in-law’s tradition of baking Swiss bread. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, photography, and her zero-turn lawnmower, which she rode until she was 92. She had a life-long series of cat companions and recently enjoyed her son’s dog, Buddy. She was proud of her farm heritage and instilled a love of the farm in her grandson. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her sister-in-law Miriam Pick Poole. She is survived by her daughter Connie (Thomas Dorst) Poole of Springfield, IL and her son William Neil Poole of the farm, grandson Matthew Clark Poole Dorst (fiancé, Julia Middleton) of Los Angeles, CA, her brother-in-law Grant Poole, nieces Pamela (Cady) Engler and Kathy (James Millikan) Poole and nephew Joseph (Marcie) Poole.
