Marla Joyce Hewitt, 78, of Council Grove, Kansas passed away with family by her side, at Morris County Hospital, July 29, 2020.

She was born August 13, 1941, the daughter of Leslie and Margaret Thimes Bass, in Emporia, Kansas.&nbsp; She attended Americus High School.&nbsp; Marla married the love of her life, Jimmy Hewitt on December 21, 1958.&nbsp; They had three children: John, Mary and James.

Marla was a lifelong member of Council Grove Christian Church.&nbsp;&nbsp; Marla worked at various jobs throughout her lifetime.&nbsp; She worked as a cook and retired from USD 417 after 10 years of service. Marla loved taking care of her husband Jimmy…he was her world! She loved cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jimmy; son John Hewitt; brother Bob Bass; and sister Elaine Casper.&nbsp; Marla is survived by her daughter Mary Hewitt and fiancé’ Lee Garrett and James (Bill) Hewitt and fiancé’ Nicole Hobbs; sister Jeanette Borgs; daughter-in-law Carol Hewitt; brothers: Tom and Dan Bass; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.&nbsp; Marla will be sadly missed by all.

Robert Larson, age 77 of Kansas City, passed away Friday, July 24, 2020.



He was born on March 26, 1943 and grew up in the MayDay community, graduating from Clay Center Community High School.  He attended Kansas State University where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.  He moved to Kansas City and was a long time employee of IBM.



He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Anna Larson and his brother, Bruce Larson.

In 1958 he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving 4 years active and totaling 26 years with active and reserves. On February 2, 1985 he was united in marriage to Diane Denise Southward in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.&nbsp; Lee worked for the California High Way Patrol for 25 years before moving to Abilene.

 Lee is survived by his loving wife Denise, four sons - Robert White (Cindy), Randy White (Terry), James White and Greg White, and one daughter, Melody White, two step-daughters - Medina Earl (Jeffrey) and Demecia Segura, six grandchildren and two sisters, Rosa Lee Northam (Richard) and Mary Miller and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

William F. (Bud) Potter, 80, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020. He was born February 5, 1940 in Junction City, the son of Walter F. and Ferne J. (Nelson) Potter. Growing up in Abilene, he attended local schools and graduated from West Plains, Missouri High School with the class of 1958. As a young man, he competed in rodeos as a bull rider while training as a plumber and working construction. He worked for USD 475 and retired in 2002 as a master plumber. Bud had a life-long love of raising greyhounds. On March 22, 1969, he married Mary McCoy, spending their married life in rural Abilene.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Abilene; daughter, Beth Gentry of Wichita; son, Brent Potter of Abilene; sister, Janie Hicks of Salina; 2 brothers, Rick Potter and Dan Potter of Abilene; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Clayton's life began on December 3, 1934 in Benton, KS.  He was the son of Arthur and Erlean G. (Berg) Hamm.  Clayton was a 1952 graduate of Marion High School.  He was united in marriage to Wanda Lubinus on November 22, 1953 in Claflin, KS and they enjoyed 66 years of marriage.  Clayton started his working life working for the Riddle Quarry and then later transitioned to hauling bulk milk, picked up on the farm and delivered to the dairy.  He worked for American Milk Producers when it was Tip Top Dairy, and later went to work hauling ice cream for Baskin-Robbins out of Hillsboro.  Clayton was happiest driving truck, hauling anything to anywhere.  Even in his retirement he went to work hauling wheat on the Siefert farm.  Clayton enjoyed NASCAR and driving trucks.  He was a good provider, husband and father to his family.

  Clayton's loving family includes his wife Wanda Hamm of Marion, children Shirley (John) Riffel of Newton, and Dennis (Grace) Hamm of Jefferson, SD; grandchildren Mandy (Brad) Thomas of Mission, Justin (Erin) Hamm of Logansport, IN, Jackie (Dale) Schoenherr of Riverside, IA, Jennifer (NIck Robinson) Smith of Logansport, IN and Daniel Delgadillo of Sioux City, IA; great grandchildren Nash, Jace, Dylan, Hunter, Taylor, Bella and Melody; brother Garry Hamm of Marion and several nieces and nephews.

  Clayton passed away at St. Luke's Living Center on Monday July 27, 2020.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Larry and Dale Hamm and sister Marjorie Hamm.

Clayton Dean Hamm - December 3, 1934-July 27, 2020 (age 85)

Reed Christian Hoffman, aged 97, died July 24, 2020 in Manhattan, Kansas. He was born September 6, 1922 in Enterprise, Kansas, son of Walter L. Hoffman and Mary Elizabeth Carpenter Hoffman. Graduated Enterprise High School 1940 and the University of Kansas. He was an employee, on the board of directors, and involved in the Dickinson County Bank from 1947 to 2020. He became President of DCB when his father died in 1967. In 1952 he attended the Republican National Convention in Chicago that nominated Eisenhower for President. In 1956, he unsuccessfully contested Homer Hoffman for the Republican nomination for State Representation. In 1958 he was elected to that office, for which his grandfather Christian Hoffman and his half-uncle Christian Balzac Hoffman had been elected. In 1960 he was an unsuccessful candidate against Gordon Mark for the state senate Republican nomination. In 1972, he was an unsuccessful candidate for the GOP nomination for state representative. During time of the Civil Rights movement, he served on the Kansas West Methodist Church Board of Christian Social Concerns, actively supported a distant cousin, John Salter Jr. nationally pictured sitting in a Woolworth store restaurant in Jackson, Mississippi. Reed established a history section at Enterprise Library, on whose board he served. He was married to Carolie Wolfenbarger McKeeman. Reed was active in the lives of his daughter Deriece Monette McKeeman and son Kevin McKeeman (Lorine Anderson). He is survived by Kevin &amp; Lorine McKeeman and their children, Trevor McKeeman (Leah), Brent McKeeman (Amanda), and Monette McKeeman Murdock (Chris) and their families. He is also survived by his 7 great grandchildren Fynn McKeeman, Wyatt McKeeman, Cora McKeeman, Gage McKeeman, Emma McKeeman, Connor Reed Murdock, and Logan Murdock. In the summer of 1947 Reed started writing a newspaper column, Teller Tales, in the Enterprise Journal. It has continued to appear in the weekly newspapers since, briefly as an advertisement. At University of Kansas, he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, of which his father and uncles were charter members. He was a member of many civic organizations. He was interested in sports, played tennis, and six-man football, attended the Detroit-St. Louis World Series in St. Louis in 1934. He actively supported the Methodist Church. He was a member of the Mt. Hope Cemetery Board. He financially supported the erection and restoration of the Hoffman Grist Mill on the property of the Abilene and Smoky Hill tourist railroad. After reaching the age of 70, he ran three marathons, the last in under four hours. Reed actively jogged for over 20 years. Reed was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Walter Hoffman Jr., and sister Mary McDonald. He is also preceded in death by his wife Carolie and daughter Deriece. Nelda Jo (Hanne) Elder, age 79, died of complications of ovarian cancer, on July 25, 2020, at Good Shepard Hospice, in Manhattan, Kansas. She was born to June Louise (Redfield) and Hugh Edwin Hanne in Wickenburg, Arizona on November 5, 1940. After World War II, the family returned to Bucklin, Kansas where both families had earlier established roots. Nelda graduated from Bucklin High School and went on to earn degrees from Wichita State University, Emporia State University, and Kansas State University. She married John Elder in 1962, and they divorced in 1970. She lived in Manhattan, Kansas from 1972 until her death. Nelda earned a B.A. from Wichita State University in 1963, and an M.L.S. from Emporia State University in 1970. After working at Indiana University and the University of Nebraska Libraries, she accepted a position at Kansas State University Libraries where she worked for over 38 years, retiring as Professor Emerita in 2011. During her tenure at K-State Libraries she held various positions in government publications, interlibrary loan, the social sciences/humanities division, and collection development. As head of collection development, she oversaw the addition of the second million volumes to the collection and spearheaded the transition to electronic media. She provided leadership in cooperative collection development ventures with other Regents universities, the Big 12, and the Greater Western Library Alliance. She was an active member of the Emporia State University chapter of Beta Phi Mu, and the Kansas State University chapter or Phi Kappa Phi. After retirement, she pursued her interests in crafts and the arts, as well as her life-long dedication to reading. She completed a B.F.A. in Art with a painting emphasis. Her activities included painting, drawing and quilting, traveling, gardening, and participation in the Konza Prairie Quilters’ Guild, Columbian Artists, and the Flint Hills Masterworks Chorale. She is survived by her son Edward John and his family, wife Sara Markle-Elder, and grandchildren Elizabeth and David; her brother Robert Earl Hanne and wife Christy Smith Hanne, and nephews Matthew, and Benjamin and his wife Britt Bradley, as well as many cousins on both sides of her family. At her request, Nelda was cremated. Memorial services will be held on a date to be announced. After retirement, she pursued her interests in crafts and the arts, as well as her life-long dedication to reading. She completed a B.F.A. in Art with a painting emphasis. Her activities included painting, drawing and quilting, traveling, gardening, and participation in the Konza Prairie Quilters’ Guild, Columbian Artists, and the Flint Hills Masterworks Chorale. She is survived by her son Edward John and his family, wife Sara Markle-Elder, and grandchildren Elizabeth and David; her brother Robert Earl Hanne and wife Christy Smith Hanne, and nephews Matthew, and Benjamin and his wife Britt Bradley, as well as many cousins on both sides of her family. At her request, Nelda was cremated. Memorial services will be held on a date to be announced. Agnes Marie Peterson, 93, of Manhattan, Kansas, formerly of Monument, Kansas, and Troy, Ohio, died Monday, July 20, 2020, in Manhattan, Kansas. Marie, baptized child of God, was born on November 23, 1926, in Thomas County, Kansas, to George and Elma Theimer (Kistler). Marie married Winston E. Peterson on August 15, 1948, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Page City, Kansas. Together they raised five children on the farm east of Page City. Winston preceded her in death in 2017. Marie was a dedicated teacher. She began her career in 1946 in a one-room school house near Page City and later taught in Monument and Oakley, Kansas. She was guided by her belief that every human being is of great value and deserves respect and equal opportunities. Marie graduated from Page City High School, and received her Bachelors of Arts degree from Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas and her Master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colorado. Marie received the Kansas Master Teacher Award in 1987 and was inducted into the Kansas Teacher’s Hall of Fame in 1995. As a longtime member of the Democratic Party, Marie worked within the political system to provide quality education for all children through public schools and for the professional rights of teachers. Her belief in the value of every human being led her to work for equal rights for women and other issues that would help those who were not born with advantages. Marie worked on many political campaigns at the local, state and federal level. She helped nominate and elect two United States presidents (Carter and Clinton) as a voting delegate to the national conventions. Marie will be remembered for her love for children and her love for music. She taught herself to play the piano and the organ and was organist at Bethesda Lutheran Church for many years. Marie and Winston would travel many miles to be able to listen to grandchildren perform. The performances of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra were a special treat when they lived in Troy, Ohio. Marie continued to play her piano until the end of her life. Marie is survived by her children: David Peterson (Ingrid), Kathy Swenson (Daniel), Kristine Polansky (Adrian), Timothy Peterson (Rebekah) and Julie Peterson (Rex Brown). Pat S. Hartman, age 94, of Manhattan, died July 22, 2020, at Meadowlark Hills - Lyle House. She was born March 9, 1926, in Shidler, Oklahoma, the daughter of Frank L. and Ruth (Russell) DiVall. Ruth, Pat’s mother passed away when Pat was 10 and Pat and her siblings were then raised by Frank and Frances Sine DiVall. Pat graduated from Shidler High School and earned her Associate Degree from Oklahoma State University in business. On June 6, 1947, in Shidler, Oklahoma, Pat was married to John H. “Jack” Hartman. They lived in Coffeyville, KS, from 1955 to 1962 and Carbondale, IL, from 1962 to 1970, before moving to Manhattan in 1970 when Jack was hired to be the head men’s basketball coach at Kansas State University. Pat was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was devoted to her family and faith, collegiate sports, the bridge table and the golf course. Pat was preceded in death by her husband Jack on November 6, 1998. She was also preceded in death by two brothers: Robert Divall and Frank DiVall, Jr; and one sister Mary Bogert. Survivors include her three daughters: Jana Hartman Perkins and her husband Ed Perkins of Corinth, TX, Davy Hartman Campbell and her husband Jim Campbell of Liberty, MO, and Jackie Hartman Borck and her husband Lee Borck of Manhattan; three grandchildren: Christopher Hartman Cleveland, Michael Warren Cleveland and Stephanie Aaron Cleveland; two great-grandchildren: Norah Ann and Jack Henry Cleveland; and one sister Dorothy Douglas of Oklahoma City, OK. Clifford Joseph “C.J.” Walsh, 30, of St. George, Kansas, died July 22, 2020, as a result of an automobile accident in Jackson County. &nbsp; He was a life-long resident of the area.

C.J. was born April 28, 1990, in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Clifford Jay and Bettie Gray Walsh. &nbsp;He attended local schools and graduated from Rock Creek High School.

C.J. was an all-around Handy Man, and enjoyed helping people with whatever job was needed. &nbsp;He also had worked in the coal crew at Jeffries Energy Center. C.J. loved to fish, hunt, trap, and go mudding. &nbsp;He was also know to enjoy blowing things up. &nbsp;He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help someone in need. &nbsp;He will be missed by many friends and family.

Jessica's life began on April 4, 1984 in Lawrence, KS.  She was the daughter of Darren Smith and Judy Kay Bickford.

  Jessica was a 2003 graduate of Centre High School.  She was happiest spending time with friends and family.  Jessica enjoyed visiting the zoo, going to concerts and just being out the friends.  She had a helper's heart and was always there for her family and friends.

  Her loving family includes her mother Judy (Bobby Thornhill) Bickford of Ramona; father Darren (Nicole) Smith of Tenn.; daughter Abagail Smith of Florence; siblings Chelsea (Andrew) Weber of Cedar Point, Jeremy Smith, Noah Smith and Jadean Smith of Tenn. and Jess Birdwell  of Tenn.; and her nephews Tucker and Paul Weber.

  Jessica passed away at her home on July 22, 2020.  Her family will gather with friends at a later date to celebrate her life.

Jean Kelly, 98, formerly of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on July 19, 2020 at Chapman Valley Manor, Chapman, Kansas. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be will be held at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Gnanasekar Kulandi officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Riley Cemetery. Due to Covid-19, services are for immediate family only. Jean was born on January 9, 1922, to Lawrence and Minnie (Corpstein) Noll. She was raised on a farm in the Mooney Creek, KS area before moving to Effingham, KS in 1935. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1939. She obtained a normal teaching license and taught in a one room school from 1939 to 1941. She then went on to graduate from St. Mary's School of Nursing, Rochester, MN in 1944 as a Registered Nurse. She married Charles E. Kelly February 10, 1945 in Vancouver, WA. His Army career took them to various states as well as Japan over the next 28 years. She worked as a RN at the Atchison Hospital, Atchison, KS; Vancouver Memorial Hospital, Vancouver, WA; Tokyo Army Hospital, Japan; Geary Community Hospital (1963-1966, 1969-1977) and Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, Melrose Park, IL. She and Charles lived in Junction City for many years before retiring to New Braunfels, Texas where they lived for 24 years. They returned to Junction City in 2001. Jean enjoyed golf anytime and anywhere (had 2 hole in ones), singing and playing the piano, writing letters and journals, quilting, tole painting, flower gardening and was an avid reader. She was a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church, the Troubadours, St. Xavier's Circle, the JCCC Ladies Golf Association and the Landa Ladies Golf Association, New Braunfels, TX, where she served as President two terms and tournament chairman for three terms. She was proud to be a nurse, especially from St Mary’s Hospital. The highlight as a nursing student was assisting the Mayo brothers (Mayo Clinic) in surgery. She was also proud to be an Army wife and to share the military life with Charles. Jean is survived by her four children, John Kelly, Pamela (Art) Schmidt, Jane (David) Simms and Pat (Aubrey) Small; her brother, Jim Noll of Effingham, KS; her sisters, Helen (Elmer) Karezewski of Easton, KS and Ruby (John) Foret of Shawnee Mission, KS; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Timothy L. "Timmy" Rudolph, the amazing son of the late Dan Rudolph Sr. and Maggie Ruth(Green) Mickens died July 17, 2020 at Geary Community Hospital.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Chapel. Cremation will take place following the visitation. Due to Covid-19 masks will be required to attend the visitation and please maintain the guidelines of social distancing. Tim made his debut into this world on November 25, 1958, Fort Riley, KS. From the beginning of life Timmy had to fight, his mom would sometimes share stories about him being the shoe box baby because when he was born they weren’t sure he would make it! But boy did he show them! Timmy attended Junction City high school where he became quite the star leading the Blue Jays Wrestling Team as a two time state champ making news throughout the state of Kansas. He later graduated in 1977 and attended Hutchinson Community College for 2 years! After college Timmy served his country from 1982- 1985 in the U S Army which he was so proud of. During that time he met the love of his life Therese Rudolph and the two were married in 1982 and a year later became the proud parents of a beautiful baby boy that they named Tyrell Lee Rudolph. Timmy loved to travel and most of all he loved to tell stories, boy did he have them no matter what it was Timmy had a story. Timmy is the 3rd child out of 6 which includes three brothers, Dan Rudolph Jr. (Debbie) of Junction City, KS, Gregory Rudolph (Johnni) of Hutchinson, KS, Undray Rudolph also of Junction City, KS and two sisters, Ylanda Carson of Colorado Springs, CO and Faye Rudolph of Cleveland, OH. Timmy also leaves to cherish his memory Tyrell (Tayronda) Rudolph his one and only son and his grandchildren the 3T,s Taeja, Tyree, and Tezrik, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and good friends. Timmy was preceded in death by his father Dan Rudolph Sr. and his maternal and paternal grandparents.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Timothy L. "Timmy" Rudolph, the amazing son of the late Dan Rudolph Sr. and Maggie Ruth(Green) Mickens died July 17, 2020 at Geary Community Hospital. Visitation for family and friends will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Chapel. Cremation will take place following the visitation. Due to Covid-19 masks will be required to attend the visitation and please maintain the guidelines of social distancing. Tim made his debut into this world on November 25, 1958, Fort Riley, KS. From the beginning of life Timmy had to fight, his mom would sometimes share stories about him being the shoe box baby because when he was born they weren’t sure he would make it! But boy did he show them! Timmy attended Junction City high school where he became quite the star leading the Blue Jays Wrestling Team as a two time state champ making news throughout the state of Kansas. He later graduated in 1977 and attended Hutchinson Community College for 2 years! After college Timmy served his country from 1982- 1985 in the U S Army which he was so proud of. During that time he met the love of his life Therese Rudolph and the two were married in 1982 and a year later became the proud parents of a beautiful baby boy that they named Tyrell Lee Rudolph. Timmy loved to travel and most of all he loved to tell stories, boy did he have them no matter what it was Timmy had a story. Timmy is the 3rd child out of 6 which includes three brothers, Dan Rudolph Jr. (Debbie) of Junction City, KS, Gregory Rudolph (Johnni) of Hutchinson, KS, Undray Rudolph also of Junction City, KS and two sisters, Ylanda Carson of Colorado Springs, CO and Faye Rudolph of Cleveland, OH. Timmy also leaves to cherish his memory Tyrell (Tayronda) Rudolph his one and only son and his grandchildren the 3T,s Taeja, Tyree, and Tezrik, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and good friends. Suzanne Marie Pavelka, 61, of Manhattan, passed away Sunday, July 19th. &nbsp;She had worked as a legal assistant for Oleen Law Firm, USD 383 as a librarian at the &nbsp;Manhattan High School and the Amanda Arnold Grade School. Suzanne was born in Kyoto, Japan on March 6, 1959, the daughter of missionaries, the late Joann Marie (Friederich) and David Lloyd Lindberg. &nbsp;Thirty-seven years ago she was united in marriage on September 18, 1992, in Lincoln, Nebraska to &nbsp;Richard L. Pavelka, who survives of the home. &nbsp;She graduated from the South Shore High School in Chicago, Illinois.

Anna Marie (Ann) Noll, 108, of Manhattan, passed away on Saturday evening, July 11th, at the Meadowlark Retirement Community. Miss Anna Noll was born in Topeka, on November 24, 1911, the daughter of the late Ida (Umscheid) and Henry Noll. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Flush, KS until her junior year.&nbsp; She then transferred to Sacred Heart Academy in Manhattan where she graduated.&nbsp; After many years on the family farm she moved to Manhattan and worked as a sales clerk at Coles Department Store, which later became Brown’s Department Store, until retiring. She was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and was a member of the Church Women's Circle. She spent many years volunteering&nbsp;at the Seven Dolors Budget Shop, and the Flint Hills Bread Basket until she was well into her 90’s.&nbsp; Ann’s passion for hand stitched quilting resulted in over 400 quilts that she made for her family and friends. Many of her quilts were given to the Church for raffles and other fund raisers. Ann was known by all her nieces and nephews as Aunt Ann. She is fondly remembered for always being ready for a hike in the&nbsp;Colorado&nbsp;mountains, wading in the waters at Tuttle Creek, baking pies, and peeling potatoes or frying chicken for a hungry family. She was a sharp Pitch player and she loved following her K-State Wildcats. Aunt Ann always delighted in holding all the new babies of the family in her arms. She was our family historian and would frequently share stories about life on the farm as a little girl, the Depression, the floods, and caring for ill family members. She lived a quiet but spirit filled life and her gentle presence will be dearly missed. Anna is survived by an extended family and a host of friends. Anna Marie (Ann) Noll

Alice Marie Michaelis, 98, of Paxico, Kansas, died Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at the Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center in Wamego.&nbsp; Alice was a long-time member of the community.

Alice was born on October 16, 1921, in Fenton, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Alvira Patterson Rasmussen.&nbsp; During the depression they moved to Kansas City, Missouri.&nbsp; She graduated from Ruhl-Hartman High School in Kansas City, Missouri.

Alice worked at the GM plant during the Korean War where they built jet airplanes.&nbsp; She then worked as a clerk for Allis-Chalmers and Simmons Mattress Company.&nbsp; After her retirement she moved to Paxico and worked for a USDA survey service.

Alice married Sam Roberts and they were later divorced. They had two children, Buddy and Georgia.&nbsp; She then married Alvin Michaelis on December 27, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri. They had a son, Bob. Alvin preceded her in death on July 2, 1995.

Alice and Alvin enjoyed many family vacations fishing in Minnesota.&nbsp; Alice fondly signed her name on cards as “Old Grandma” a title she was very proud of.&nbsp; She will always be remembered as having ice cream available for anyone that came by, and always had various baked goods (springerle cookies, chocolate Christmas Balls and other varieties galore).&nbsp; She loved her Sudoku and crossword puzzles, and her Wednesday quilting meetings.&nbsp; Alice loved sports, especially Kansas State and always had front row seats at all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s games.&nbsp; Alice had a great love for her family and her faith.

Alice was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a member of the church’s altar sodality.

Alice is survived by her son; Bob Michaelis (Carol), Paxico; her grandchildren, Allison, Ryan, Tracy, Shannan, Carrie, Clint, Rex, Becky, Bradley, Tom and Jasen; her thirty-three great-grandchildren, her six&nbsp;great-great grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Garnet Roberts.&nbsp; Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, her parents; her children, Buddy Roberts and Georgia Silvey; her brothers, Jim Rasmussen and George Rasmussen; and grandchildren, Gregory Roberts and Bill Roberts.

Wanda Lee Hedgespeth, 73, lifetime resident of Morris County, Kansas passed away July 21, 2020, at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

She was born March 29, 1947, the daughter of Neil and Jessie (Burnett) Williams. She graduated from Council Grove High School in 1965. Wanda married Ralph Hedgespeth on September 24, 1965.

Wanda worked at different places throughout the years in Emporia, while raising her family.&nbsp; She retired in 2008, after working 28 years in food service for USD 417.&nbsp; She enjoyed cooking and loved feeding her family.&nbsp; After retirement her and Ralph enjoyed traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters: Helen, Lucille and Karen.&nbsp; Wanda is survived by her husband Ralph; sons, Brian Hedgespeth and wife Melanie, of Salina and Paul Hedgespeth, of Council Grove; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother Dale Williams and wife Elie, of Council Grove.

Wanda Lee Hedgespeth

Pam’s life began on October 4, 1963 in Waseca, MN.  She was the daughter of Duane and Ernestine (Tincher) Goerend.

  Pam was a 1981 graduate of Salina High School and attended Kansas University to study Criminology.  She was united in marriage to Brad Schick on June 11, 1988 in Salina.  Pam and Brad operated K4A2Z gun shop near White City and she was a shooting enthusiast.  Pam was a good shot and loved to shoot her guns at the range.   She loved cross stitching and made treasured family Christmas stockings.  She loved to go camping at the Roaring River in Missouri where they would fish and she caught her first trout on one of those camping trips. Pam was very caring of others and would always worry about others before herself.

  Her loving family includes her husband of 32 years, Brad Schick of White City; parents Duane and Ernestine Goerend of Salina; sisters Kimberly Sue Willingham of Salina and Linda Sue (David) Rohleder of Salina and several nieces and nephews.

  Pam passed away on July 21, 2020 at Salina Regional Medical Center.  Yazel-Megli Funeral Home in Herington is serving the family and a private family celebration will be held at a later date. Pam’s life began on October 4, 1963 in Waseca, MN. She was the daughter of Duane and Ernestine (Tincher) Goerend. Pam was a 1981 graduate of Salina High School and attended Kansas University to study Criminology. She was united in marriage to Brad Schick on June 11, 1988 in Salina. Pam and Brad operated K4A2Z gun shop near White City and she was a shooting enthusiast. Pam was a good shot and loved to shoot her guns at the range. She loved cross stitching and made treasured family Christmas stockings. She loved to go camping at the Roaring River in Missouri where they would fish and she caught her first trout on one of those camping trips. Pam was very caring of others and would always worry about others before herself. Her loving family includes her husband of 32 years, Brad Schick of White City; parents Duane and Ernestine Goerend of Salina; sisters Kimberly Sue Willingham of Salina and Linda Sue (David) Rohleder of Salina and several nieces and nephews. Louann M. Sanders, RN, 70, of Junction City, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.

She is survived by Husband, Ernie Sanders of the home. She was preceded in death by their son, Scott Sanders.

Lynnette Byrne Niemeier, 63, of Manhattan, KS, formerly of Junction City, KS passed away on July 16, 2020. Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home of Junction City, KS is assisting the family with arrangements. Nett was born on April 1, 1957, in Fort Riley, Kansas to Edward and Loretta (McGuire) Byrne. She graduated Junction City High School with the Class of 1975. She attended Kansas State University majoring in Art. Nett worked for USD 475 as a Photographer and Media Specialist for over 25 years shaping and influencing the lives of many. Lynnette was a very talented, creative, kind, hard working person. She was an avid painter. Kansas was a constant source of inspiration for her. She loved its quiet beauty. She was equally adept artistically with camera lens or brush. Her greatest loves had four paws. She was known for her wit and her ability to make others smile, she was loved and will be greatly missed. She was active in the Democratic Party and very involved in the task of helping people register and vote. Lynnette is survived by her loving family: her sister, Marcella and husband Peter Heesch of Aldie, VA; sister-in-law, Maria Byrne of Bedford, NH; two nieces Kathleen and husband Brian Eccles of Arlington, VA, and Kelly and husband Jon Sharbo of Seattle, WA; two nephews Patrick and wife Tanya Byrne of Newburyport, MA and Michael Byrne of Santa Ana, CA plus many cousins, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James Byrne. Due to current events, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donna J Gasswint, 83, passed away Monday, July 6, 2020 in Abilene.

 She was born June 9, 1937 in Manchester, the daughter of August and Grace (Rector) Steinborn. Parents and siblings preceded her in death. On December 18, 1961 she married Roy Gasswint. All their married life was spent in Abilene. They were married 51 years when he passed away. She had worked at the telephone office in Manchester and as a maid at Preim's Pride in Abilene.

 Donna is survived by her daughters Lori (Scott) Wiley of Detroit KS, Dayna (Brad) Shaffer of Salina KS, Nita Dalton of Salina KS and her son Roy (Lisa) Gasswint of Abilene KS. 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

 Donna had donated her body to the KU Medical School. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials can be made to American Cancer Society. They may be sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home 501 N. Buckeye Abilene, Kansas 67410. Danner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
