Edith K Hadle, 98, of Manhattan, KS, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020. Edith was born in Halstead, KS, on December 1, 1921, to Amelia Bahr and William Mierau. She graduated from Wichita North in 1938, and then attended W.U. and KSU. Edith served in the U.S. Army in the Women's Army Corps as a Laboratory Technician during World War II. On October 5,1946, she married Fred B Hadle and together they had two sons. She worked as a Biological Technician at Soil Conservation Service, USDA, for 17 years until retirement. Edith was a long-time member of the Ashland Community Church where she also served on the Church Board. Edith enjoyed being a member of the Ashland Ladies Aid Society, Ashland Fortnightly, FCE, NARFE, VFW Auxiliary, and the Blue Valley Rug Hookers Association. She received awards for her beautiful hooked rugs and enjoyed giving many of them to family and friends. She also found pleasure tending her lovely flower gardens. Edith is survived by her two sons Gary (Kathleen) Hadle, of Manhattan, KS; Stephen (Diana) Hadle, of Manhattan, KS; 13 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred Hadle, her brother William Mierau Jr., and one grandson Joshua Hadle. Lisa loved people and made many friends in her life with her compassion and sense of humor.&nbsp; If there was something you needed or a shoulder to cry on, she was there.&nbsp; She will be missed by many.&nbsp;

Lisa leaves behind her children and grandchildren, Amber and Chris Brown, Trevor, Keegan, Alexia and Jayden; Taylor, Charlee and Bo Kraus, Lance, Jackson, Hayden and Afton Phillips and a multitude of friends and family.&nbsp;

A celebration of life will be held in a private ceremony with her children.

Bruce Quentin McFadden, age 82 formerly of Circleville, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 at the Onaga Community Hospital.

He was born on January 10, 1938 in Riley, the son of John Buel and Grace Mae (Baker) McFadden. He graduated from Keats High School.  He spent most of his life in Riley before moving to Oregon and then eventually back to Kansas.

Bruce worked in security at Prairie Band Casino.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling the United States and doberman pinscher dogs.

He is survived by two brothers, Gerald McFadden of Nampa, Idaho and Byron McFadden (Carol) of Hillsboro; one brother-in-law, Larry Hinson of Holton and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John McFadden and Richard McFadden; one sister, Aloha Hinson and two sisters-in-law, Elisabeth McFadden and Marilyn McFadden.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2020 at the Riley Cemetery.

Kristopher L. Mock, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020 at his home in Leonardville at the age of 44. He was born November 10, 1975 in Salina, Kansas the son of Steven Mock. He graduated from Chapman High School and received his bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Arizona. Kristopher worked at Wardcraft Homes Inc. after graduation until 2006. He also worked at Walmart for 10 years before moving on to Smithfield Foods Inc. as a mechanical machinist. He enjoyed playing Magic the Gathering, computer games, antique cars, and was an avid tinkerer. He married Suzanne Perry on April 6, 2010 in Manhattan. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his sister Jessica Gramlick of Omaha, Nebraska, step son Tyler Perry of Leonardville, nephew Jason Gramlick of Omaha, Nebraska, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Steve, grandmothers Pricilla Louise Henderson and Pricilla Hosie. Cremation is planned. Joe Blackman passed away July 9, 2020. We are pretty sure he is now riding his Harley Davidson of his Bi Ole White Mule, Crystal, the two things he missed doing during his illness. He was born in Pennsylvania and later moved to Arizona where he was the sole miner at the world’s richest amethyst mine in the four peaks wilderness. After digging for the stone, he backpacked it down the mountain seven miles on his back. He hitchhiked all over the United States making more friends and having more adventures. He rode to Sturgis on his own when he was seventy one years old. He was seventy six when he left us for another adventure. He was a fine man and a great character, and he will be greatly missed. He was a strong man and endured two heart breaks of his life – the death of his beloved son Little Joe, and his sister Susan. He leaves behind a loving family, wife Nicci of almost forty seven years, a son France (Tia), a daughter Brooke, two granddaughters, brother Greg (Sandy), sister Wendy (Jim) along with nieces and nephews. Mary Ann (Carlson) McAdams, 88, died July 10, 2020 at Medicalodge in Clay Center.&nbsp; She was born February 12, 1932 on the farm east of Morganville.&nbsp; The family moved to Morganville in 1936. &nbsp;Mary Ann grew up in Morganville where she attended school all 12 years. &nbsp;She also attended church, Sunday School, singing in the choir, participated in youth fellowship, taught Sunday School and Bible School classes in Morganville.&nbsp;

Mary Ann married Max McAdams on April 13, 1952 and they farmed west of Morganville.&nbsp; In December 1993, they moved to Clay Center.&nbsp; She was a homemaker, farmer, and after moving to Clay Center, she was a volunteer for CASA for 10 years.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Max; children, Debra Kovarik (Ernie), Deirdre Moore (Bob) and Rodney McAdams (Caryn); grandchildren, Aaron Smith, Holly Koehn, Jesse Moore, Ashley Fischer, and Ryan McAdams; 9 great grandchildren; and her brother, Royal Carlson.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15 at Bloom Cemetery, rural Morganville, KS

Veryl Leone Tiemeyer, daughter of George and Grace Damman, was born July 6, 1934, in Palmer, KS, and peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on July 9 at the Sheridan at Overland Park.

Veryl was born at home in Palmer, KS, and is one of 10 children. She graduated from Clifton High School and then married the love of her life Freddie Tiemeyer on Feb. 1, 1953. &nbsp;Veryl raised four children and was a loving, caring mother and grandmother. She was a congregant of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center. Faith was important in Veryl’s life, inspiring her dedication to family and community. She was a member of the Clifton Art Buffs and supporter of her community, serving as a Clifton-Clyde Unified School District board member. &nbsp;Veryl received her B.S. in Psychology from Kansas State University at the age of 45 and went on to have a successful career in public administration, serving as executive director of March of Dimes, Salina Chapter, and was regional director of North Central Area Agency on Aging. Veryl was also a talented and accomplished artist winning several awards for her paintings. Her amazing impact and incredible love for her family and community is cherished and will be remembered.

Veryl Leone Tiemeyer

Jacqueline Mae Motley, age 89, of Manhattan, died Wednesday July 8, 2020 at her home in Manhattan. She was born on July 22, 1930 in Manhattan, the daughter Evelyn Chudej and her adoptive parents Raymond and Florence (King) Phelps. She grew up in Manhattan and attended local schools. On December 27, 1947 in Manhattan, she was united in marriage to Ed Motley. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2008. Jackie worked at the Manhattan middle school as a food service worker for 10 years. She enjoyed working on puzzles and listening to Elvis. She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren as often as she could, Jackie was always ready for family gatherings and holidays when they were all together. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Vawter and her sister, Betty Reid. Jacqueline Mae Motley, age 89, of Manhattan, died Wednesday July 8, 2020 at her home in Manhattan. She was born on July 22, 1930 in Manhattan, the daughter Evelyn Chudej and her adoptive parents Raymond and Florence (King) Phelps. She grew up in Manhattan and attended local schools. On December 27, 1947 in Manhattan, she was united in marriage to Ed Motley. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2008. A. Ramona Johnston, age 91 of Manhattan, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House.

She was born on September 8, 1928 in Olsburg, the daughter of Hans and Agnes (Rasmussen) Vandahl.  She graduated from Cleburne High School and Kansas State University with a degree in education.

On May 28, 1978, she married Robert Edward Johnston.  He preceded her in death in 2011.

Ramona’s first year of teaching was at Springside in Pottawatomie County.  After that, she taught elementary school in Fostoria, St. George, Rossville, Leonardville and Blue Valley Randolph.  She was a member of the Mariadahl Lutheran Church, Olsburg Lutheran Church, Delta Kappa Gamma and Green Valley FCE.  She enjoyed taking pictures, planting flowers and working in her garden.

She is survived by one sister, Kathryn Nelson of Manhattan; five nieces and nephews, Mark Nelson, Kent Nelson (Liz), Kathy Mignano (Tom), Carolyn Mohr (Ken) and Marjean Newcomer and many great nieces, great nephews and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by parents; one brother, Elmer Vandahl and one sister, Helen Holt.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at the Mariadahl Cemetery in Olsburg with Rev. Keith Wiens officiating.  Respect calls may be made from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.

Doris Nelmes of Manhattan, KS died at her home on July 3, 2020 at the age of 80. She was born in Manhattan, KS on September 23, 1939. Her parents were James and Ida Thomas. Doris Grew up in Herington KS but moved to Manhattan KS in 1955 and graduated Manhattan High School in 1957. She then moved to Washington DC after high school and was married to Arthur B. Fridinger, Jr. from 1960-1973. Later She married Edwin V. Nelmes on December 30, 1974 until his death February 1, 1993. Doris graduated from Phoenix University with a Bachelor of Science in 2000 at the age of 70. Early in her career, she worked t the National Bureau of Standards and was a dance instructor at the Fred Astaire Studio in Washington, D.C. She also worked for the National Transportation Safety Board of Dulles International Airport, Administrative Law Judges, NTSB and US Department of Commerce in D.C as an office manager. She met her husband Edwin Nelmes during her time at NTSB and they were married in December of 1974. She retired in 1990 after thirty-one years of government service. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Survivors include her sister Shirley J. Hyde-Luna of Garden City, step-children Ted and Ethel Nelmes, Pamela Merlin and Beverly Nelmes, niece Cindy Unger of Garden City, nephews James Lehr of Portland, ME and John Lehr of Junction City. She leaves numerous step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren and great nieces and great nephews. Her hobbies included singing semi-professionally in the D.C and Colorado areas. She loved classical music and dancing. She belonged to the Lions Clubs of Fairfax, Virginia; Boulder, Colorado; Conroe, Texas, Leawood, Kansas and Manhattan, Kansas. She was a very giving person and was proud of her work history and volunteering. There will be no service. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will occur at a later date in Pennsylvania where her husband is interred. The family suggests memorials to the Lions Club of Manhattan. Charley (Chuck) Elvin Abarr, age 89 of Manhattan, Kansas died July 8 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House. He had been a resident of Manhattan for 12 years. He was born on May 4, 1931 in Billings, Montana to parents, Joseph and Ester Abarr. He also grew up in Billings along with his siblings, Ellen and Joe. He attended Billings High School but completed his senior year at Miltonvale College in Miltonvale, Kansas. He enlisted in the Navy and was sworn in November 10, 1950. He was stationed in Alameda, California. He married Marjorie Faye Hudson of Billings on August 19, 1951 in Billings, Montana. They had three children, Debra Jean, Bobby Joe, and Randy Jay. He attended and graduated from Marion College in Marion, Indiana. He later attended the Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. He was in the restaurant business for over forty years. The highlight of his career was working for the McDonald's Corporation. He began at entry level and was promoted from store manager to regional supervisor to field consultant at the home office to International and ended his career as an owner-operator. He was a dedicated, hard-working, loyal, and honored employee and loved working and traveling for McDonald's. One of his proudest moments was being invited to attend and participate in the 1200th store opening in Southeast Asia. He retired from McDonald's Corporation approximately thirty years later. He loved retelling stories and reliving his experiences during those years. He enjoyed McDonald's double cheeseburgers well into his eighties. Chuck was a proud and loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He treasured being surrounded by his children, Debra Lamb(daughter) and husband Pat, Bob(son), and Randy(son), his grandchildren, Vance Lamb and wife Kate, Sean Lamb, Richard Abarr and wife Keli, Amy Abarr-Harris, and Aubrey Abarr-Brown and husband Matt, and his great grandchildren, Lucas, Parie, Breeonna, Wyatt, Raylee, Peyton, Tanner, and Tate. Dad was a sports enthusiast. His favorites were football, baseball, softball, bowling, and golf. He was a superior athlete that played many different sports. He was proudest of being selected to the All Navy Softball Team. He also had the special ability to coach anyone, from college golfers to Little League boys including his sons. He spent many joy filled hours at the Lake of the Ozarks teaching family and friends how to water ski. He owned Arabian horses for several years and enjoyed showing them competitively with his sons. He was a social person and loved telling stories and reminiscing. He would never turn down an invitation to lunch or dinner. He loved M&amp;M's, cashews, angel food cake, deviled eggs, and his own fried chicken &amp; gravy. The only thing he loved more was being involved with celebrations including his family. He was proud, supportive, loving, humble, lived simply, and shared everything he had. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ester Abarr, his sister, Ellen Waite, his former wife, Marjorie Eglin (1984), and sons, Bobby (2004) and Randy (2017). 1st Sgt. (Retired) Richard S. Strait, 79, of Junction City, died Sunday, July 5, 2020 at his home. Richard was born Feb. 9, 1941 in Pulteney, New York, the son of Stanley and Frances (Youngs) Strait. Richard was raised in New York and attended school there. Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army on Feb. 12, 1958 and spent over a 20 year career serving his country. Richard served in the Vietnam War and was twice wounded in battle, for which he received the Purple Heart, Silver Star, and Bronze Star. Richard was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army in 1978 as a 1st Sgt. After his discharge, Richard worked at Ft. Riley as Civil Service as a Building Inspector. Richard was a member of the Junction City Church of the Nazarene; the Geary County Sheriff's Posse; and the Earl Gormley, Post #45 of the American Legion, all of Junction City. Richard married Joyce M. Slater on April 25, 1959 in Hammondsport, New York. Joyce passed away Nov. 20, 2019. Survivors include: a son, David Strait and his wife Nancy, Bath, New York; a daughter, Deborah Strait, Rockford, Illinois; a brother, Larry Strait, Warrensburg, Missouri; a sister, Bonnie Mori, Woodbridge, Virginia; and 2 grandchildren, Joshua Strait and Courtney Strait. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gary Strait. It was Richard's wish to be cremated. 1st Sgt. (Retired) Richard S. Strait

Jerome "Jerry" Paul Schiess Sr.&nbsp; Passed away June 27th at home under hospice care, at the age of 73 after a yearlong battle. 

He was born on May 19th, 1947 in Chadwick IL. The son of Emil and Edith (Hess) Schiess. His parents would later divorce and his mother would remarry, John Burns.&nbsp; He attended and graduated from school in Rockford, IL. He met and fell in love with Della "Kathy" Jenkins and on June 12th, 1965 they were married, they had just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Together they would have 6 children and later adopt 1.

&nbsp; Jerry served in the US Army during the Vietnam War with the 75th Airborne Rangers and would later serve with The Big Red 1. In 1992 he completed his service with 25 years.

 After retiring from the US Army, he and Kathy made their home in Missouri where he drove and operated his own truck and he drove for the next 12 years. After retiring from driving they made their home in Clay Center, KS. He will always be known to those who loved and respected him as a true Bad Ass! Over the years their house was never empty, their fridge was never bare, they always had an open door whether it be a Soldier, Family, or Friend. Everyone of their children's friends called them Mom and Dad. When Jerry wasn't working you could always find him with a pole in the water waiting for the big one, Or in the kitchen making his amazing spaghetti. If you met him, you knew you had a friend forever. His family meant the world to him, and he would always give the biggest hug and you never left him without hearing I Love You. Jerome "Jerry" Paul Schiess Sr.&nbsp; Passed away June 27th at home under hospice care, at the age of 73 after a yearlong battle. He was born on May 19th, 1947 in Chadwick IL. The son of Emil and Edith (Hess) Schiess. His parents would later divorce and his mother would remarry, John Burns.&nbsp; He attended and graduated from school in Rockford, IL. He met and fell in love with Della "Kathy" Jenkins and on June 12th, 1965 they were married, they had just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Together they would have 6 children and later adopt 1.&nbsp; Jerry served in the US Army during the Vietnam War with the 75th Airborne Rangers and would later serve with The Big Red 1. In 1992 he completed his service with 25 years. After retiring from the US Army, he and Kathy made their home in Missouri where he drove and operated his own truck and he drove for the next 12 years. After retiring from driving they made their home in Clay Center, KS. He will always be known to those who loved and respected him as a true Bad Ass! Over the years their house was never empty, their fridge was never bare, they always had an open door whether it be a Soldier, Family, or Friend. Everyone of their children's friends called them Mom and Dad. When Jerry wasn't working you could always find him with a pole in the water waiting for the big one, Or in the kitchen making his amazing spaghetti. If you met him, you knew you had a friend forever. His family meant the world to him, and he would always give the biggest hug and you never left him without hearing I Love You. Kansas State University Professor and World War II Navy Veteran Kansas State University’s well-respected Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering, Bob L. Smith, Ph.D., P.E. gave his final farewells at age 94, surrounded by family and friends following a long bout with old age.

Dr. Smith was very much involved in the pursuits close to his heart and mind; education, educating youth in strategies to realize their full potential and becoming financially savvy, improving the quality of our educators, Legislative Committee work for Alzheimer’s, and living a life built upon the foundation of Christian values through his lifelong church family, Trinity Presbyterian Church. Dr. Smith was preceded in death by his late wife, Jean Ewing Smith and son Bill Smith. He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Jan Smith Langton (Scott), sister Betty Jean Fuller, Daughter-in-law Diana Smith, step son John Musselman (Alice), 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 4 great, great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews. Early Life: Bob Lee Smith was born on 1/26/1926 in Stormont Hospital Topeka, Kansas. Dr. Smith grew up in the Great Depression with his parent’s Caleb and Betty Smith, truck gardeners, and little sister, Betty Jean. Remarkably, those hard times were a positive influence. At the ripe old age of 8, Dr. Smith figured out there had to be a better way of making a living. He decided to go to college. Naval Career: After graduating from Emporia High School in 1943 he enlisted in the Navy V-5 Program and received 16 months of college. His Naval career continued in 1944; Navy’s V-12 Unit, Pre-Midshipmen’s school at Princeton University, Midshipmen at Chicago’s Northwestern University City College, and Honorable Discharge in 1946. Albert Einstein: While at Princeton, Dr. Smith had the great honor of going to Albert Einstein’s apartment and enjoy tea with this remarkable man. Education/Career: 1946: Kansas State College for Agriculture and Applied Science Began his teaching career while an undergrad student. 1948: Kansas State College for Agriculture and Applied Science BSCE with honors, inducted into Engineering’s Honorary, Sigma Tau. 1953: Kansas State University MSCE. 1953: Kansas State University Promoted to Associate professor 1958: Awarded the National Science Foundation Faculty Fellowship to work toward his Ph.D. 1964: Purdue University Received Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering. 1964: Kansas State University Promoted to Professor 1966: Texas A&amp;M National Science Foundation Faculty Research Program 1969: Dartmouth University visiting professor at Thayer School of Engineering 1990: American Society of Civil Engineers Edmund Friedman Professional Recognition Award 1992: Kansas State University Retired and named Professor Emeritus Published Author of 40 articles, most notably “Handbook of Traffic Control Practices for Low Volume Roads for County Engineers” published by Kansas Department of Transportation and “Practical Highway Esthetics” published by the American Society of Civil Engineers. Served as the executive secretary of the Kansas Water Resources Board in 1961. Directed the Annual Kansas Transportation Engineering Conference since 1964 till his retirement and served as a consultant for a series of national seminars on Dynamic Design for Highway Safety during the 1970’s. Served as the Co-Director of the Traffic Assistance Service for the Kansas project since 1979 and conducted and participated in seminars and short courses statewide. Served on 18 committees including Transportation Research Board, American Society of Civil Engineers, and Institute of Transportation Engineers and was a board Member of Meadowlark Hills Trustees and Manhattan City planning. Bob loved his Canadian fishing trips with his buddies, hunting deer and turkey, Wildcat sports, his bird feeders, and teaching. But nothing pleased him more than speaking with former students who expressed gratitude for the education they received while in his classes. Hazel Joan Walker, 94, died peacefully at Abilene Memorial Hospital on July 4, 2020.

 She was born in Coffeyville, Kansas, on October 2, 1925, to George and Anna Brown. She married George Walker in Independence, Kansas, on August 31, 1956, and they moved to Manhattan, Kansas, finally settling in Abilene, Kansas, where they attended St. Andrew’s Catholic Church. In later years, Hazel especially adored her dog, Governor, who was her faithful companion.

 She is preceded in death by her husband George Walker, daughter Sharon Lewis, son Michael Walker, sisters Mary Cornette, Myrtle Ellicock and Charlotte Brown and brother George (“Buddy”) Brown. She is survived by daughter Donna Walker of Milton-Freewater, Oregon and sons Jeff Walker of Salina, Kansas and Timm Walker (Karen Siebert) of Prairie Village, Kansas.

 Hazel chose to be cremated, so there will be a graveside service for family and friends at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Abilene at 9 a.m. on Thursday July 9. Because of public health concerns, there will not be a reception.

 Memorial donations in memory of Hazel may be made to Wakefield Care and Rehabilitation Center in care of Danner Funeral Home. Donations will support outings and activities for the many friends she made while in care there.

Charles “Charlie” John Naerebout, Jr. was born March 8, 1956, to Charles John Sr., and Donna Mae (Trim) Naerebout in Grand Haven, Michigan. Charlie attended Spring Lake, Michigan Schools and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married Teresa Lynne Anderson on November 19, 2007, in White Cloud, Michigan.

Charlie was a welder for Agco in Hesston, Kansas and worked in maintenance at Dura Automotive in White Cloud, Michigan. He loved his church Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

His loving family includes his wife, Teresa of the home; children, Chasity (Daryn) Warriner of Ozark, Missouri, Karen Hidalgo of Unadilla, Nebraska, Aprelle Naerebout, and Charles (Cassandra) Naerebout all of White Cloud, Michigan; siblings, Penny (Greg) Walker of Newton, Kansas, Richard Naerebout, of Bailey, Michigan, Donna Mae (Steve) Youngheim of White Cloud, Michigan and Larry Naerebout of Grand Haven, Michigan; 10 grandchildren, Elisha, Isaiah, and Shiloh Warriner, Micayla Harness, John and Liz Hidalgo, James and Naomi Thompson, Riley and Charles IV Naerebout; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Bennett, Josephine and Alistair; an aunt, Donna Raye Johnson and a great nephew, Bryce Naerebout; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. at Highland Cemetery with Pastor Ronnie Roberts officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to Accord Hospice. Shirley was born December 13, 1938, in Lantz, W.V. the daughter of Erskin and Marie (Nixon) Booth. Shirley worked as a CNA for many years in McKeesport, PA. She spent her working career caring for other people. When her children were younger she was a great homemaker and mother. She was known for her wonderful baking skills. She enjoyed baking cakes and cooking for her family. When she lived in Germany she volunteered for the American Red Cross. Shirley Ann Cogar

Clair W. Rupert, age 92 of Riley, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the Wakefield Care and Rehab Center.

He was born on May 8, 1928 in Ringtown, Pennsylvania, the son of Arthur and Emma (Horrox) Rupert.

On August 27, 1949, he was married to Laurel Alverta Yocum.  She preceded him in death in 2004.

Clair served in the U.S. Navy and was a metal worker for Kansas State University.  He was a member of the Riley United Methodist Church.

He is survived by three sons, Steven Rupert of Mayetta, Guy Rupert of Andover and Jamison Rupert of Orange Park, Florida; two daughters, Kathleen Woodring of Farmington, Missouri and Laurie Beavers of Mount Vernon, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Rupert.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., July 18, 2020 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home with Pastor Sandy Ferguson officiating.  Burial will be in the Leonardville United Methodist Cemetery.

Clair W. Rupert, age 92 of Riley, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the Wakefield Care and Rehab Center.He was born on May 8, 1928 in Ringtown, Pennsylvania, the son of Arthur and Emma (Horrox) Rupert.On August 27, 1949, he was married to Laurel Alverta Yocum. She preceded him in death in 2004.Clair served in the U.S. Navy and was a metal worker for Kansas State University. He was a member of the Riley United Methodist Church.He is survived by three sons, Steven Rupert of Mayetta, Guy Rupert of Andover and Jamison Rupert of Orange Park, Florida; two daughters, Kathleen Woodring of Farmington, Missouri and Laurie Beavers of Mount Vernon, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Rupert.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., July 18, 2020 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home with Pastor Sandy Ferguson officiating.
