This is the first time the Buffaloes are visiting Manhattan since 2009. K-State is 15-17-1 all-time against CU in Manhattan, including wins in each of the last two meetings in 2007 (47-20) and 2009 (20-6).

K-State’s Senior Day Contest Set for Morning Kick

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Patrick Mahomes threw for a season-high 352 yards, Kareem Hunt ran for 104 yards and a touchdown, and Harrison Butker's fifth field goal of the game gave the Kansas City Chiefs a come-from-behind 23-20 overtime victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Rashee Rice had eight catches for 141 yards, including two crucial ones on the Chiefs' tying touchdown drive in regulation and another in overtime, after Kansas City (6-5) had forced the high-powered Colts (8-3) to punt on a fourth consecutive three-and-out.

Butker ended the game with a 27-yard field goal with just under two minutes left in overtime, potentially keeping the Chiefs' playoff hopes alive. The reigning AFC champions had lost their previous two games, and another defeat against one of the hottest teams in the NFL on Sunday would have left Andy Reid's team needing a whole lot of help to make it back to the postseason.

The Colts blew a 20-9 fourth-quarter lead thanks in part to some questionable play-calling — and some worse execution.

They went almost entirely away from running back Jonathan Taylor down the stretch, putting the game instead in Daniel Jones' hands.

He wound up with 181 yards passing and two touchdowns, but most of that production came in the first half. Jones was just 8 of 18 for 83 yards in the second half, which allowed Mahomes and Co. to mount a comeback that injected some life in a dim season.

Taylor, meanwhile, only carried 16 times for 58 yards in his first game since a record-setting performance against the Falcons, when the Colts' star ran for 244 yards, piled up 286 from scrimmage and reached the end zone three times in an overtime win.

The Chiefs have struggled all season with turnovers at inopportune times, and another set the tone for the first half. Mahomes had a pass from his 4-yard line batted by Laiatu Latu, who brought it in himself for the defensive end's third pick of the season.

Two players later, Jones hit Michael Pittman to give Indianapolis a 7-0 lead.

The Chiefs answered with the first of two grinding, eight-plus minute first-half drives, but each netted just a field goal. And when the Colts moved briskly downfield again, and Jones found Drew Ogletree in the back of the end zone, they had built a 14-3 advantage.

The Colts were still clinging to 20-9 lead as the game headed to the fourth quarter.

Just as he's done so many times in his career, though, Mahomes mounted another comeback. He marched Kansas City 56 yards before Hunt's touchdown dive, then Mahomes found Rice for a 2-point conversion to close within a field goal with 8 1/2 minutes to go.

The Chiefs defense proceeded to step up, forcing a series of three-and-outs by the league's No. 1 offense.

Kansas City took over after the second one with 4:43 left at its 6. Mahomes hit Rice for 47 yards, then he found him again on fourth-and-3 near midfield for a 19-yard gain. Hunt's dive on third-and-1 gave the Chiefs first down at the Colts 2 with a minute to go, but he was stuffed on the next play, Mahomes threw incomplete on the next, and he was sacked on third down.

Butker banged through his fourth field goal, a 25-yard chip-shot as time expired, to send the game to overtime.

Turned out the Chiefs would give Butker another chance a few minutes later, this time to win the game.

Colts: WR Ashton Dulin left in the second half with a hamstring injury.

Chiefs: LG Trey Smith left in the second half with an ankle injury. TE Noah Gray finished the game in the concussion protocol.

The Chiefs visit the Cowboys on Thursday.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Devon Dampier threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more, including&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/Utah_Football/status/1992395003990319611">a go-ahead 1-yard score</a>&nbsp;with 56 seconds left, and No. 13 Utah rallied from a 12-point deficit midway through the fourth quarter for a wild 51-47 victory over Kansas State on Saturday.

The game turned on an unusual play. After KSU took a 47-35 lead on Joe Jackson’s third rushing touchdown of the game, the Wildcats went for 2, but Utah’s Tao Johnson intercepted a tipped ball and returned it to the Kansas State end zone for 2 points to make it 47-37.

Dampier’s 20-yard TD toss to Larry Simmons got Utah within 47-44 with 2:47 left. After the Utes forced a punt, Dampier led the winning drive, setting up his go-ahead score with a 59-yard run to the 1 on fourth down.

<a href="https://x.com/Utah_Football/status/1992396075463004167">Lander Barton intercepted Avery Johnson's pass</a>&nbsp;with 49 seconds remaining to seal it for Utah (9-2, 6-2 Big 12, No. 12 CFP), which kept alive its hopes for a league title and a College Football Playoff berth.

Jackson rushed for a school-record 293 yards for Kansas State (5-6, 4-4), topping Darren Sproles' mark of 292 yards set in 2004. The Wildcats finished with a program-record 472 yards rushing, the most by a Division I team in a loss since Army ran for 534 in a 52-49 loss to North Texas on Nov. 18, 2017.

Dampier threw for 259 yards and rushed for 94. Byrd Ficklin rushed for three touchdowns and Wayshawn Parker had 100 yards on 19 carries for Utah, which had 551 yards of offense to 574 for Kansas State.

VJ Payne knocked the ball out of Dampier's hand and Cody Stufflebean recovered the fumble at the Utah 26-yard line to set up Jackson's 24-yard TD rush midway through the fourth.

Dampier found Dallen Bentley for a 38-yard TD reception and Ficklin ran for his third TD to put Utah up 35-31 early in the third quarter. But Johnson threw to Garrett Oakley for a TD on fourth down and Luis Rodriguez added a 36-yard field goal to put KSU ahead 41-35 with 8:51 to play.

Utah’s defensive leader, John Henry Daley,&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/a8a7711d680f7a0a7ba6a93b304bad70">left the game with a leg injury</a>&nbsp;late in the first quarter, when the defensive end already had two sacks and 3 1/2 tackles for loss. Daley grabbed his leg on a non-contact play and was helped to the locker room.

Accepting coach Chris Klieman’s challenge to play “big boy, physical football,” Kansas State had 348 yards rushing in the first half, including 225 in the second quarter as the Wildcats led 31-21.

Kansas State gashed the Utah defense on its way to five consecutive scoring drives — four TDs and a 22-yard field goal. Jackson gained 236 yards in the first half with TD runs of 66 and 80 yards. Antonio Martin Jr. and Johnson also rushed for scores.

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Rocco Becht threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns, with two scores and 73 yards going to Brett Eskildsen, and Iowa State defeated Kansas 38-14 on Saturday.

The Cyclones (7-4, 4-4 Big 12) earned their first win against the Jayhawks (5-6, 3-5) since 2021 and came away with their first home victory since Sept. 27 against Arizona.

Carsen Hansen rushed for 99 of his 120 yards in the first half, including a 4-yard score to put Iowa State ahead 14-0 early in the second quarter. Kyle Konrardy added the second-longest field goal of his career from 55-yards out to extend the lead 17-0 with 10:32 remaining before the break.

“(Hansen) has that physical ability to fall forward every time he runs the football," Iowa State coach Matt Campbell said. “He plays like that, and keeps that consistency all the time.”

The teams combined for four straight touchdown drives in the third quarter, with Iowa State leading 31-14 entering the fourth.

“Getting into a rhythm is beautiful,” Eskildsen said. “It’s huge momentum, you get the crowd into it and it’s just (big) having things like that.”

Aiden Flora capped the scoring with 1:07 left in the fourth with his first rushing touchdown of the season for the Cyclones.

“Execution today is the biggest word,” Becht said. “We had a confidence in one another knowing that everything was clicking and everyone was doing their jobs.”

Jalon Daniels was 13-of-23 passing for 154 yards and an interception for Kansas. Boden Groen had five catches for 76 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown from backup quarterback Cole Ballard.

“We've got to coach it better,” Kansas coach Lance Leipold said. “We've got to continue to find ways to execute.”

Becht looked much more confident in the first half against Kansas after completing his first 10 passes. He finished 18 of 23.

Kansas is in danger of missing out on bowl eligibility for the second straight season under Leipold.

🏈 Iowa State snaps 3-game skid with victory over Kansas 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) —Pryce Sandfort scored 21 points and Reink Mast added 20 for Nebraska in an 86-85 victory over Kansas State on Friday night, winning the Hall of Fame Classic for the first time in program history.

Nebraska (6-0) went on a 15-0 run in the first half to lead 19-7. Kansas State (5-1) clawed its way back to close the gap to 45-35 at halftime.

The Wildcats took the lead with 7:51 to go in the second half, and Nebraska responded every time Kansas State tried to push in front.

With 2:28 to go Sandfort sank a 3-pointer to put the Cornhuskers up 81-80. PJ Haggerty hit a jumper and a free throw for the Wildcats, but Sam Hoiberg and Mast scored layups to put Nebraska up two. Haggerty's layup tied it at 85-all with 27 seconds left.

Sandfort missed a 3-pointer, Hoiberg corralled the rebound and was fouled in the process, sending him to the line in the final second. He made the first of two foul shots for the win.

Haggerty led the Wildcats with 27 points. Abdi Bashir Jr. added 26 and Nate Johnson had 12.

Nebraska now has the nation’s longest win streak with 10 straight victories dating back to Mar. 31, 2025, with an 86-78 win over Arizona State in the College Basketball Crown tournament, which the Huskers won. This was the 224th meeting between the two programs, with the first game occurring on Feb. 19, 1905, a 50-14 victory for Nebraska.

🏀 Sandfort scores 21 for Nebraska in Hall of Fame Classic win over K-State

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — P.J. Haggerty scored 37 points, Nate Johnson added 14, and Kansas State turned a tight halftime lead into a runaway, beating Mississippi State 98–77 on Thursday night.

Haggerty shot 13 of 21 from the field, hit four 3-pointers and went 7 of 8 at the line, repeatedly beating closeouts off the bounce. Johnson knocked down two 3s and handed out four assists, while Abdi Bashir Jr. chipped in 12 with four makes from deep.

Kansas State (5–0) buried 14 threes and assisted on 22 of its 37 field goals. Leading 44–36 at the break, the Wildcats broke the game open with a 13–5 surge. Haggerty sliced to the rim for a layup, Johnson drilled a transition 3 and Haggerty followed with another from the left wing for a 52–41 cushion.

Mississippi State (2–2) briefly countered behind Jayden Epps, who hit back-to-back 3s to close the gap to 57–47, but David Castillo answered with a 3 of his own.

McGriff scored seven straight points in the final stretch, Castillo knocked down two free throws, and Bashir buried a corner 3 to push the lead past 20 with under three minutes left.

Blue Jay Football Celebrates End of Year Banquet - Award Winners announced

NEW YORK (AP) — Cameron Boozer had 18 points and 10 rebounds, twin brother Cayden made a couple of big second-half baskets and fifth-ranked Duke outlasted No. 24 Kansas, defeating the undermanned Jayhawks 78-66 on Tuesday night in the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/ap-top-25-mens-college-basketball-3c18427817e906bc679c1b14dc92a032">annual Champions Classic</a>.

Isaiah Evans scored 16 points and Patrick Ngongba had 13 on 4-of-4 shooting for the Blue Devils (5-0).

The Jayhawks (3-2) were still without their best player, freshman Darryn Peterson, the nation's top recruit and potentially the top pick in next year's NBA draft, because of&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/kansas-darryn-peterson-mens-basketball-348cbc7e304cea3d70a5c62a2ef0367c">a lingering hamstring injury</a>. Peterson has missed three consecutive games since hurting himself during a shootaround.

Peterson's absence was enough to make a difference at Madison Square Garden even though the Blue Devils were less consistent than in their previous four victories. Kansas rattled Duke with some fast-break points early before getting worn down by foul trouble and a depth disparity.

All five Kansas starters had at least one foul and three had two apiece in the first half, and Duke closed it out on a 17-5 run to lead by eight. The Jayhawks trimmed their deficit to 67-64 on Melvin Council Jr.'s 3-pointer with 4:59 left.

The foul trouble showed in some tired legs. Flory Bidunga picked up his fourth with more than seven minutes left, and Bryson Tiller fouled out with 3:04 remaining.

Evans hit a 3 coming out of the under-4-minute timeout, and Cameron Boozer scored four of the eight points in an 8-0 run by Duke to pull away.

Tre White tried at every turn to keep Kansas in the game, scoring 23 points and grabbing nine rebounds.

Kansas: Faces Notre Dame on Monday night in each team's opening game of the Players Era tournament in Las Vegas.

🏀 Cameron Boozer scores 18 points as Duke outlasts Kansas 

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — P.J. Haggerty scored 25 of his 29 points in the second half and Kansas State rallied from a five-point deficit in the final 49 seconds to beat Tulsa 84-83 on Monday night.

Myles Rigsby hit two foul shots to give Tulsa (3-1) its largest lead at 83-78 with 49 seconds to go. Haggerty hit two free throws and a jumper following a Tulsa turnover to cut it to 83-82 with 31 seconds left.

Khamari McGriff stole the ball from Miles Barnstable and fed Danny Castillo for a go-ahead layup 13 seconds later. Barnstable missed a 3-pointer and David Green missed a jumper in the final 7 seconds for the Golden Hurricane.

McGriff had nine points and Abdi Bashir Jr. scored eight to help the Wildcats (4-0) take a 39-34 lead at halftime. Nine different players had first-half points for Tulsa.

DENVER (AP) — At this point in the season, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are usually cruising toward another division title and being touted as Super Bowl favorites.

Instead, they're losing the close games they used to win and, at 5-5, they're looking up in the AFC West at the Denver Broncos (9-2) and the Los Angeles Chargers (7-4).

It's all new territory for Mahomes and the startled Chiefs.

Sunday's 22-19 loss to the Broncos on Wil Lutz's 35-yard field goal as time expired makes a record-tying 10th straight division crown a long shot. The Chiefs are currently out of playoff position; they haven't missed the postseason since 2014.

Rarely have the Chiefs appeared this vulnerable — or maybe this dangerous?

They're relying on the experience of going to five of the last six Super Bowls — winning three — to spark a late-season surge. But the clock is ticking with seven games remaining. They need to go 5-2 to reach double-digit wins, which coach Andy Reid has done every season but one since taking over in KC in 2013.

“We’re in a beautiful spot, probably not the most amazing spot, or where we're used to being in, but we still have an opportunity,” defensive tackle Chris Jones said. “Give me an opportunity, that’s all we ask for.”

In recent seasons, Kansas City was so used to winning tight games that it almost seemed inevitable. The Chiefs were 12-0 in one-score games a season ago, extending their NFL record to 17 consecutive triumphs in games decided by eight points or fewer.

The Chiefs had the ball with just over four minutes remaining in a tie game Sunday. That’s typically a recipe for Mahomes’ magic. But the Broncos defense forced a three-and-out, and KC didn't get the ball back.

“It sucks. Don’t get me wrong,” said Mahomes, who was sacked three times and intercepted once while throwing for 276 yards and a score. “You’ve got to feel that. But you’ve got to be able to kind of use that energy to push it into the next week, into the rest of the season.

“We’ve been losing these close games recently, but we’ve played some good football in spurts. It’s just about being more consistent.”

The Chiefs were facing a banged-up team in the Broncos, who where missing their top cornerback (Pat Surtain II) and running back (J.K. Dobbins) along with their top tackler (Alex Singleton). Relying on a stalwart defense, the Broncos found a way to persevere for their eighth straight win.

And they've pushed the Chiefs to the brink. But feeding Kansas City's hopes is that its three toughest remaining games are all at home, starting next weekend with Indianapolis (8-2).

“The goal is to get into the playoffs and try to make a run at it,” Mahomes said. “We’re at that point where we've got to find a way just to win football games.”

The Chiefs were out of sync despite entering the game well-rested coming off a bye. It started early, with Mahomes unable to connect on three deep passes on the first series. Mahomes also threw an interception in the red zone in the third quarter.

The Chiefs committed 10 penalties for 69 yards. Harrison Butker had an extra point blocked.

Kansas City's defense had a chance to bail out the offense. But on a third-and-15 at the Denver 21 with 2:05 remaining, Bo Nix connected with Courtland Sutton for a 20-yard gain. A few plays later, Nix completed a 32-yard pass to Troy Franklin that set up Lutz’s game-winning kick.

“It’s frustrating,” cornerback Trent McDuffie said. "After the game, I told everybody, ‘We can’t keep our heads down. We have a whole year ahead of us.’ Positivity is everything, and we've got just get back to work. We've just have to get back to KC defense.”

There was one milestone — Travis Kelce caught a 21-yard TD pass from Mahomes for his franchise-record 84th touchdown. It gave the Chiefs a 19-16 lead with 9:57 remaining.

“He deserves it,” Mahomes said. “He’s a leader."

Which the Chiefs need right now — from Kelce, Mahomes and the rest of their veterans.

“It’s not always been just championships. We’ve dealt with adversity,” Mahomes said. “Obviously, this is something that we haven’t dealt with so early in the season, but at the same time, I know the guys in that locker room, and know how they’re going to respond.

“All we can do is stick together and push ourselves to be even better and try to do what we can to win this next week.”

🏈 Forget winning the AFC West. Mahomes and Chiefs in danger of missing playoffs after loss to Broncos

DENVER (AP) — Wil Lutz kicked five field goals, including&nbsp;<a href="https://x.com/Broncos/status/1990218327000797565">a 35-yard game-winner</a>&nbsp;as time expired Sunday, pushing the Denver Broncos past the Kansas City Chiefs 22-19 for their eighth straight victory.

The Broncos (9-2) all but buried the Chiefs (5-5) in the AFC West, which Kansas City has won ever year since 2016. Chiefs coach Andy Reid fell to 27-5 following a bye week, counting the playoffs and his time with Philadelphia.

Bo Nix set up the game-winning kick with a 32-yard pass to Troy Franklin that got Denver to the Kansas City 15 with under a minute remaining.

Patrick Mahomes gave Kansas City its only lead on a 21-yard touchdown toss to Travis Kelce — the veteran tight end's 84th career TD, one more than previous Chiefs franchise record-holder Priest Holmes. That put the Chiefs up 19-16, but Harrison Butker's extra point was blocked by Frank Crum.

The Broncos tied it at 19-all on Lutz's 54-yarder with 4:10 remaining.

Denver's defense forced Kansas City to go three-and-out when Ja'Quan McMillian sacked Mahomes on third-and-10 from the Chiefs 36.

The Broncos chewed up the final 2:59 by driving 58 yards in 10 plays. They won their 11th straight game at Empower Field, where they haven't lost since October 2024.

Kelce's TD followed a 46-yard pass-interference flag at the Denver 29 on cornerback Riley Moss on an underthrown pass from Mahomes to Hollywood Brown. That came on third-and-19 from the Kansas City 29.

The Broncos' eight-game winning streak is their longest since 2012, when Peyton Manning led Denver to 11 consecutive victories. As a result, the Chiefs' nine-year reign atop the AFC West is in jeopardy.

Jaleel McLaughlin, playing in place of injured starter J.K. Dobbins, who underwent season-ending foot surgery last week, bullied his way in from 4 yards out to break a 6-6 tie in the third quarter.

The Chiefs seized the momentum, however, when Mahomes found Tyquan Thornton for a 61-yard gain to the Denver 11. That set up Kareem Hunt's 2-yard run that tied it at 13. That was KC's first touchdown at Empower Field in 11 quarters.

Both offenses struggled to move the ball against stingy defenses, and the first half featured four short field goals and ended in a 6-6 tie.

Chiefs: LG Kingsley Suamataia left in the third quarter to be checked for a concussion.

Broncos: Rookie WR Pat Bryant was evaluated for a concussion after his 48-yard catch with 26 seconds left in the third quarter. ... The Broncos were without several starters, including CB Pat Surtain II (pectoral), ILB Alex Singleton (testicular cancer) and Dobbins (left foot), who will miss the rest of the regular season.

Chiefs: Visit the Indianapolis Colts next Sunday.

Broncos: After a bye, visit the Washington Commanders on Nov. 30.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Flory Bidunga scored a career-high 25 points, hitting 10 oi his 11 field goal attempts, as No. 25 Kansas beat Princeton 76-57 on Saturday.

Kansas (3-1) used a 17-3 run midway through the second half to blow open a close game. Tre White added 18 points for the Jayhawks.

Princeton (2-2) was led by Dalen Davis with 21 points. Jack Stanton had 15 and Jackson Hicke added 12.

After Kansas opened up a 10-point lead at the start of the second half, Princeton's Jack Stanton hit a pair of 3-pointers, one on a 4-point play, to trim the deficit to just 39-36. The Jayhawks had trouble pulling away, and when Davis hit a 3-pointer with 14:23 left, the lead was just 44-43.

But when Jayden Dawson made a 3-pointer less than two minutes later, Kansas again led by double digits. The Jayhawks' largest lead was 73-51.

Princeton played at its pace in the first half, holding an 18-13 lead at the 10:44 mark. A 9-0 run that took more than five minutes gave Kansas the lead, but the Tigers stayed close. Kansas finished the half on a 7-2 run and led 37-29 at halftime.

Bidunga stepped up late in the half and led all scorers with 15 points. Davis led Princeton with 13 points.

Both clubs will be in action Tuesday night. The Tigers take on Iona in New Rochelle, N.Y., while Kansas will face Duke in the State Farm Champions Classic in New York.

Zane Flores passed for 233 yards for Oklahoma State (1-9, 0-7), but he threw two interceptions and lost two fumbles. Oklahoma State has lost nine straight, and seven straight under interim coach Doug Meacham.

The Wildcats got a first down by penalty after it appeared the Cowboys stopped them on a fourth-and-1, and Jayce Brown caught a 34-yard touchdown pass from Johnson on the next play. The extra point put Kansas State up 7-6 — a score that held up at halftime.

An interception by Oklahoma State's Parker Robertson early in the third quarter set the Cowboys up deep in Kansas State territory. But Flores fumbled when stripped by Cody Stufflebean, and Kansas State's Zashon Rich recovered to preserve Kansas State's lead.

Kennedy, 77, began calling Shocker men's basketball full time during the storied 1980-81 Elite Eight season and has since become one of the most enduring and respected voices in college athletics. On Nov. 17, 2023, he reached a remarkable milestone, calling his 1,400th consecutive Wichita State men's basketball game—a streak that stands as one of the longest in the nation.

Over nearly five decades, Kennedy has chronicled the full arc of Wichita State history, including NCAA Tournament runs, conference championships, postseason triumphs, and countless memorable moments across basketball, baseball, volleyball and football. His signature cadence, deep institutional knowledge, and steady presence have connected generations of Shocker fans to the teams they love.

"This has not been an easy decision, as you can imagine, but after a great deal of thought and consideration, I know in my heart, it's the right time to take this step," Kennedy said. "At the forefront of my decision is a desire to be able to spend more time with my family. I have been truly blessed to do something I love for a university I love for 46 years now. Over that time, there have been so many great moments and memories, but above all, has been the opportunity to develop so many longstanding relationships and friendships with coaches and administrators, student-athletes, fellow broadcasters, and the fans. Chris Bell made 7 of 9 from the arc and scored 27 points and Dai Dai Ames hit 5 of 6 3s for 25 points for Cal (3-1), which shot 56% and made 15 of 28 3-point attempts. Justin Pippen added 14 points.

The Wildcats led 55-34 at halftime and were up 24 early in the second half before the Golden Bears rallied behind the 3-point shooting of Ames and Bell, who combined for 39 points after the break. Ames hit five 3s over the first 10 minutes of the second half then Bell made five in the final 4 1/2 minutes.

Bell's last 3-pointer made it a six-point game with 38 seconds left. The Wildcats made just 1 of 6 free throws in the final half-minute but a couple buckets from Semetri Carr weren't enough to bring the Golden Bears all the way back.
