State Wrestling Results after Day 1 for Junction City

The Junction City Blue Jay wrestling team had ten wrestlers competing on the first day of the state tournament at Hartman Arena in Park City. 

The girls started the wrestling on Thursday afternoon, and all three Junction City girls advanced to day two. 

 Charly Goodwin (wrestling at 110 pounds) and Juliana Villanueva (wrestling at 115 pounds) both won two matches on Thursday and advanced to the semifinals today. As for Victoria Perez (wrestling at 190 pounds), she lost her first match and then advanced on the consolation side of the bracket, courtesy of a bye. On the boy's side, seven Blue Jay wrestlers competed on day one at state. 

Jayden Melton (wrestling at 106 pounds) and Avery Florence (wrestling at 285 pounds) were both eliminated on Thursday. 

The other five wrestlers won at least one match on the day. All five remaining wrestlers are on the consolation side of the bracket. These wrestlers are Jaime Villanueva (wrestling at 138 pounds), Josh Brookshire (wrestling at 157 pounds), Cooper Bogenhagen (wrestling at 165 pounds), Griffin Bohanan (wrestling at 175 pounds), and Chris Coy (wrestling at 215 pounds).
