Junction City girls fall to Hays, boys win and stay undefeated

Girls recap

The Junction City Lady Jays were defeated by the Hays High School Lady Indians on Friday night in Junction City. Despite a close first quarter, and a 10-0 run in the second half, the final score was 55-21. 

Only three players scored for the Lady Jays. For the second time this season, Freshman Makenna Hatcher led the team with nine points. Both seniors, Amyah O'neal and Sara Rexrode finished the night with six points each. The Lady Jays record falls to 0-3.

Boys recap

The Junction City Blue Jays defeated Hays 58-48. Despite trailing after the first three quarters, the Blue Jays scored 24 points in the fourth quarter and completed the comeback.

Three players scored in double-digits, sophomore Lovell Autry had 22 points, with 19 of those in the second half. Also in double-digits was junior Larkin Turner with 20 points, and senior Michael Boganowski adding 14 points. With the win, the Junction City boys team improves to 3-0 on the season. 

It is a quick turnaround as both the Lady Jays and Blue Jays are back in action on Saturday evening with Dodge City as the opponent.
