Junction City Lady Jay softball split their season opening doubleheader with Salina Central in Salina on Friday.

Junction City lost the first game 8-2 but won the nightcap 5-3.

In game two Junction City led 5-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning with one out on Salina Central when weather moved into the area. There was lightning and the game was eventually called due to the weather rule, said Lady Jay coach Aaron Craig. "Once you've played five innings they go back to the score at the end of the fifth and we were up 4-3. " So the game was called and will not have to be made up.

Junction City swept Salina Central in a pair of JV contests.
