馃帴 UPDATE: Kan. winter sports will not be delayed; fans prohibited

The Kansas winter sports season will begin on schedule after a vote of the board of directors of the Kansas High School Activities Association.

KSHSAA rules will allow play to begin on Dec. 1, with a moratorium on activities from Dec. 23 to Jan. 7. Practices can resume Jan. 4, and games will be allowed to resume Jan. 8.

No fans will be allowed to attend high school and middle school games Dec. 1 to Jan. 28, with local jurisdictions making the determination of resuming attendance Jan. 29. The issue of spectators could be taken up by the KSHSAA board at a later date.

Other items resulting from the KSHSAA Board of Directors Meeting:

路 Basketball may have a maximum of 20 games, exclusive of the postseason.

路 Swimming and Diving may have a maximum of 10 competitions, exclusive of the state meet.

路 Boys and Girls Wrestling may have a maximum of 18 events and no more than 30 competitions points, exclusive of the postseason.
