TOPEKA, Kan. - The Kansas State High School Activities Association held a special Board of Directors meeting Wednesday to discuss amending the spectator restrictions for high school events.

Currently, the KSHSAA allows up to two spectators per participant to attend events at schools, with schools having  the ability to allow no fans or spectators at their own discretion.

The amendment would allow up to four spectators per participant beginning on January 29th, with adequate social distancing and mask wearing still required.

The amendment also states that "Local school districts may choose to have stricter limitations based on seating and local health department guidelines."

The amendment would also continue through the end of the winter sports season in the state of Kansas.

The KSHSAA Board of Directors voted in favor of the amendment, with it passing 46-27. Thus, beginning on Friday, January 29th, schools may allow up to four spectators per participant at events.
