JCHS Hosts Two Play In Games Saturday

JUNCTION CITY, Kan. — The Junction City High School basketball teams will host a pair of Sub-State contests in Shenk Gym on Saturday, February 27th, according to a release from JCHS Athletic Director Matt Westerhaus. 

At 1 p.m., the 4-seed Junction City Lady Jays will host the 5-seed Lawrence Free State Firebirds in the play-in round of the 6A State playoffs, with the winner to travel to take on 1-seed Topeka High Trojans in the next round. 

On the boys' side, at 4 p.m., the 4-seed Junction City Blue Jays will host the 5-seed Topeka High Trojans, also in the play-in round of the 6A State playoffs, with the winner to travel to take on 1-seed Lawrence Free State Firebirds.

Attendance will be once again limited to two spectators per participant, due to COVID-19 mitigation efforts. For those listed as attendees to the events, tickets are $7 and gates will open 45 minutes prior to the start of each game. Shenk Gym will be cleared between the two games to allow for cleaning.
