Girls recap

Despite the final score being 54-35 in favor of Topeka West, the girls matchup was much closer than the final score shows. The Lady Jays jumped out to a quick seven point lead, but the Chargers stormed back on a 10-1 run to end the first quarter and never looked back.

Junction City was led in scoring by senior Amyah Oneal, who finished the game with a career high 18 points, including five baskets from three point range. Fellow senior Sara Rexrode finished the game with 10 points, with freshman MaKenna Hatcher scoring six.

The Lady Jays fall to 0-5 on the season.

Boys recap

It was another comeback victory for the Junction City Blue Jays, who defeated the Topeka West Chargers 64-56. The Blue Jays trailed by five points at halftime, but jumped out to a quick second half lead and never looked back.

Junction City once again had multiple players in double-digits, which is always a key to success.

Junior Larkin Turner led the way with 18 points, Jackson Austin had 16 points, as well as Lovell Autry and Michael Boganowski both adding 10 points.

With the win, the Blue Jays stay unbeaten and improve to 5-0.

Both teams will host Bishop Carroll on Saturday afternoon in their final game prior to Christmas Break. Girls tip-off at 2:00 p.m. with the boys game immediately following.
