Lady Jays fall in second basketball game of the season, Blue Jays improve to 2-0

The Junction City Lady Jays were defeated by the Salina South Cougars on Tuesday night in Salina. The Cougars defeated the Lady Jays 57-21. 

Senior Sara Rexrode led Junction City in scoring with eight points, all of them coming in the paint. Fellow senior, Amyah O'neal, finished the night with five points. The two seniors combined for 13 of the teams 21 total points.

The Junction City Blue Jays defeated Salina South by a score of 66-41. Junction City jumped out to a 12 point lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. 

The Blue Jays had three players score in double-digits. They were led in scoring by junior guard, Jackson Austin, who finished the night with 17 points. Austin has made four three pointers in both games this season. Also in double digits was fellow juniors, Ja'Twaan Williams with 13 points, and Larkin Turner with 12 points. 

With the win, the Blue Jays improve to 2-0 on the season.

It remains a busy week for both teams, as games on both Friday and Saturday await. On Friday night, Junction City hosts Hays High School, and on Saturday night, Dodge City travels to Junction City.
