Blue Jay boys defeat Topeka Hayden, Lady Jays fall

The Junction City Lady Jays scored the first basket of the game on Tuesday night, and that was the only lead they would have the rest of the game as the Topeka Hayden Lady Wildcats defeated Junction City 58-20 on Tuesday night.

After a close first quarter, Topeka Hayden scored 21 points in the second quarter while holding the Lady Jays scoreless. The halftime score was 30-3 in favor of Topeka Hayden.

Shots began to fall in the second half for Junction City, as five players scored on the night. Three players had four points, and those players were Makenna Hatcher, Morgan Nabus, and Sara Rexrode.

With the loss, Junction City falls to 1-17 on the season.

The Blue Jays continue their hot streak and stay undefeated at home this season as Junction City beat Topeka Hayden 73-58.

The first half was very close, tied at the end of the first quarter, then Junction City leading 30-28 at halftime.

The Blue Jays exploded out of halftime by scoring 26 third-quarter points and holding the Wildcats to eight. The Blue Jay lead was 52-36.

Despite several comeback attempts from Hayden, the Blue Jays secured a 15-point win thanks to four players in double-digits. Junior Larkin Turner led the way with 22 points, Ja'Twaan Williams had 14, Lovell Autry added 12, and Jackson Austin and Tre Ruffin finished with 11 points.

With the win, Junction City improves to 16-2 on the season and will hit the road to take on Emporia on Friday.
