Junction City opened with a 12-2 run against Great Bend, and with Chris Dixon leading the way with 26 points the Blue Jays defeated the Panthers 69-38 at the Shenk Gym in boys basketball Friday night.

Dixon dominated the game in the first half with 20 points including two dunks as Junction City led comfortably the entire game. There was a running clock in the fourth quarter.

Nick Perez, JCHS coach, thought Dixon played great early. "That helped his confidence. He's been having a little slump in practice. I keep telling him worry about the next shot, quit worrying about all those other shots that you're missing. Let's worry about the next one. I thought he was great defensively."

Junction City, 2-0, plays at Manhattan Tuesday.
