6A girls regional wrestling tournament was a success for Junction City

Junction City High School was one of the host sites for the 6A girls' regional wrestling tournament on Saturday.

17 girls' wrestling teams traveled to the Blue Jay Event Center for a chance to compete and eventually go on to the state wrestling tournament.

Several wrestlers had success for Junction City, with three girls advancing to the state wrestling tournament.

The three girls who qualified for state are, senior Charly Goodwin, who wrestles at 110 pounds, sophomore Juliana Villanueva at 115 pounds, and freshman Victoria Perez at 190 pounds.

Villanueva took first place in the 115-pound weight class and continues her undefeated season. As for Goodwin and Perez, both finished with a second-place finish in their respective weight classes.

The 6A state wrestling tournament is at Hartman Arena in Park City and is Feb. 22-24.
