Chapman Powerlifting teams have successful showing at Class 3A State meet

The Chapman High School boys and girls powerlifting teams competed in the class 3A State Meet this past Saturday in Iola, Kansas. The Chapman Lady Irish won the class 3A State Championship, while the boys teams took third place.

The Chapman powerlifting coaches are Jason Grider and Sawyer Havenstein.

Girls highlights – Class 3A State Champions

Cambree Obermeyer (114 lbs) - 1st in bench press (115 lbs)

Mckenzie Leighty (114 lbs) - 1st in squats (230 lbs)

Alyssa Calovich (123 lbs) - 1st in bench press (145 lbs), 1st in overall weight (480 lbs) *new state record for weight class

Taya Rowley (148 lbs) - 1st in bench press (145 lbs)

Madalynn Harold (156 lbs) - 1st in Clean (170 lbs)

Breslyn Francis (181 lbs) - 1st in squats (290 lbs)

Boys highlights - 3rd place in Class 3A

Marcus Reed (114 lbs) - 1st in bench press (205 lbs), 1st in squats (305 lbs), 1st in clean (205 lbs), 1st in overall weight (715 lbs) *new state records in bench and squat for weight class – Lightweight lifter of meet

Parker Heitman (123 lbs) - 1st in bench press (185 lbs), 1st in clean (185 lbs)

Brody Calovich (132 lbs) - 1st in clean (205 lbs)

Benson Smiley (181 lbs) - 1st in clean (280 lbs)

Aven Woods (220 lbs) - 1st in clean (350 lbs)
