Blue Jays and Lady Jays Split with Emporia, Win Share of League Title

The Junction City Lady Jays had a tough night at Emporia High School Friday night as the Spartans defeated Junction City 39 to 7. The Lady Jays were shutout at halftime, trailing 27 to 0. Sophomore Naveah Rushing hit a 3-pointer in the 4th quarter, sophomore Breya Allen knocked down 2 free throws, and senior Sarah Rexrode scored with minimal time left in the game. With the big win, Emporia secured the Centennial League championship.  Junction city falls to 1 - 18 on the season.  

The Junction City Blue Jays go into Emporia and take care of business with another 15 point win, final score 56 to 41.  Junction City lead from start to finish including a 16-point halftime lead, 29 to 13.  Despite many efforts, and cutting the lead to 10 in the 3rd quarter, Emporia could not hold off the Blue Jays, lead in scoring by Larkin Turner with 21 points.  Sophomore Lovell Autry scored 12 points and spent most of the night in foul trouble.  With the win, the Blue Jays clinch at least a share of the Centennial League title.  With a win Tuesday night over Topeka High, the Junction City can win their first outright Centennial League championship.  The Blue Jays advance to 17 - 2 on the season with Senior Night next Tuesday at Junction City High School.
