JUNCTION CITY, Kan. - The Junction City High School basketball teams dropped a pair of Centennial League games Friday night at the hands of Washburn Rural 72-32 in girls play and 61-42 in the boys game.

In the girl's contest, the Lady Jays held tough with the #4 ranked team in Kansas class 6A for the first quarter, trailing 17-14 after one period. Then, the Lady Blues looked every bit of their ranking, out pacing JCHS 55-18 for the rest of the game.

The Lady Jays get back to action Saturday afternoon, taking on another top-ranked 6A opponent in Topeka High in Shenk Gym.

In the boy's game, Washburn Rural lead the entire way, as JCHS could never get in an offensive rhythm. Trailing by just five at halftime, Rural raced out to a 16 point lead at the end of the third period, and JCHS could never recover.

The boy's team will be back in action Thursday night at 7 p.m. from Dodge City, taking on the Red Demons in the Tournament of Champions.
