Motion for immunity from prosecution is denied

Junction City Commisssioner Al ( Alovence ) Gordon was in Geary County District Court Friday for a contested immunity motion hearing. Gordon and Corrieyonna Trice, who he had been in a relationship for nearly seven years, testified. Both face a misdemeanor charge of Domestic battery.

Authorities were called to their home on Jan. 23. Trice testified about a fight with Gordon revolving around hair clips that she had laid out to do her hair. The clips wound up in a shopping bag carried by Gordon with a dispute over who had initially possessed the clips. Trice claimed that during the argument Gordon grabbed her from behind and she was thrown on the floor, her shirt was ripped off and locks of her hair were pulled out. Supporting video evidence was submitted.

Trice claimed she did not hit Gordon in the face and didn't brandish a knife at him. Law enforcement testimony confirmed that her shirt had been ripped off and a back portion of her hair had been pulled out.

Prosecutor Krista Blaisdell argued Gordon was angry because Trice wanted her hair clips back. She urged that a defense motion for immunity by Gordon be denied. The court took the case under advisement and plans to to issue a written decision at a future time. Gordon has maintained his innocence during the case.

A May 5 status hearing and arraignment date has been scheduled for the defendant Gordon, and a May 19 status hearing for Trice.
