Betty Lou Say Walters was born on April 29, 1927, on a farm north of Ogden, Kansas, the daughter of Asa and Mildredth Say. She grew up on the farm south of Riley, Kansas, and attended the Grant School. She graduated from the Riley Rural High School in May of 1944. She went to work at SW Bell Telephone Co. in Manhattan after graduation in May of 1944. She married Joe Swinney in Manhattan on April 9, 1946, they were later divorced in 1949. She then married Dean Niemeier on June 2, 1952, also in Manhattan, he died on January 28, 1977, in Manhattan. On April 7, 1979, she married Clifford Walters also in Manhattan.

Betty retired from SW Bell Telephone Co. in March of 1982 with 27 years of service. Clifford and Betty enjoyed camping, fishing, square dancing, golfing, and attending the grandchildren in their sports games. After Cliff's retirement, they traveled some and spent 18 years wintering in Mission, Texas. They loved to watch and attend K-State sports (football and basketball) and the KC Royals on TV. Cliff died on April 9, 2008. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, son Ron Niemeier, 2 sisters Helen Thompson and Verla McMillan.

Survivors are her son Todd Niemeier and wife Rhonda of Blue Rapids, Kansas; grandson Asa Niemeier, Blue Rapids, Jennifer, Richard and Nick. Stepson Jeff Walters and wife Jennifer of Manhattan; stepdaughter Gail Dennis and husband Danny of Pueblo, Colorado; step-grandchildren Jessica Toland, Jake &amp; Kelly Walters, Jason, Steve and Aaron Sawyer; 13 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Joan Heim of Leesburg, Florida and many nieces, nephews, and friends. There will be a private graveside service at Sunset Cemetery. Jimmy Dale Cannon, 84, of Wamego, Kansas, died Monday, November 16, 2020, at his home. &nbsp;He moved to Wamego in 1970.

Jimmy was born on October 15, 1936, in El Dorado, Kansas, the son of Lester and Agnes Volkman Cannon.

Jimmy was born with Cerebral Palsy but was able to overcome his condition and worked for over twenty-five years as an operator for RW Milling in Wamego. &nbsp;He worked at the plant and also drove truck. &nbsp;Jimmy also worked for the City of Wamego.

He married Sue Ellen Eakins. &nbsp;She preceded him in death on August 12, 2014.

Jimmy loved to mow and voluntarily mowed along the Union Pacific railroad tracks near his home for forty-eight years. &nbsp;He enjoyed tinkering, and in earlier years talking on his CB to the truckers passing through the area. &nbsp;Jimmy enjoyed going to the Wamego Senior Center.

Jimmy is survived by his long-time friends, Brian Brockish, Timothy Weixelman, and Amber Barber. &nbsp;He was also preceded in death by his parents, and a sister.

Graveside inurnment services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Wamego City Cemetery. &nbsp;Reverend Rick Hernandez will be officiating. &nbsp;Memorial contributions are suggested to the Community Care Ministry or the Wamego Senior Center, and those may be sent in care of Campanella-Evans Mortuary.&nbsp;

Dr. Richard Brenneman Cattell, a resident at Meadowlark Hills, passed away Sunday November 15, 2020 at the Good Shepard Hospice House surrounded by his family’s love. Richard was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 11, 1927. He served in the US Army as a PFC from 1945-1946, and graduated from Williams College and Harvard Medical School. He was married to Judith Frances Boland on Sept. 7, 1951 in Duxbury, Massachusetts. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to everyone. As his nephew said, ‘We wish fair winds and following seas for the Skipper of the Pequod.’ Richard was a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst in private practice for about 40 years in Denver and then worked with the Veteran’s Administration, and also helped found the Denver Psychoanalytic Institute. Richard was an avid outdoorsman, who loved backpacking, fly fishing, skiing, and sailing. He loved tennis and played almost daily throughout his life. He even continued after recovering from spinal surgery. He was on the Williams College Nordic Cross Country team, and continued to ski jump for fun after he, his wife and daughter moved to Colorado for his psychiatric internship at Denver General Hospital and his residency at Colorado Psychopathic Hospital. He downhill skied in Vermont as a teenager, and encouraged his son, daughter and wife to learn in Colorado. The family soon had a tradition of a ski trip to a different ski area each Christmas or spring break. Dick took Augusts off, following his family’s tradition, and took the family on car camping trips (even with bunk beds for Eric and Cindy in the very large canvas tent). Dick and Judy both wanted to get away from the crowds, and soon switched to backpacking. Dick even started sewing, first a tent, then sleeping bags and other gear (from Holubar kits). The August trips often involved backpacks, and eventually Dick and Judy backpacked in almost every Colorado wilderness area, as well as Wyoming and Hawaii. They also travel and hiked throughout most of the southwest‘s national parks and monuments. When he and Judy could no longer carry backpacks, they switched to llama packing. Even into their 70s, they took their grandchildren on two-week long llama packing trips. Richard instilled in his children and grandchildren a love of the outdoors. He was infamous for always wanting to “go just a bit farther” for a better campsite or view. Even now, wanting to go a little bit longer, is referred to by in-laws and grandchildren as “being a Cattell”, or going on a “Cattell walk”. Dick was a keen sailor, growing up in Boston with summer racing in Duxbury. Being landlocked in Colorado, he longed for sailing, so he, Judy and family went on three bare boating charters in the Caribbean, and Dick was able to enjoy the wind in the sails. The family also chartered sailboats in the Greek islands and along the western cost of Turkey to visit the ancient sites of Ephesus, Bodrum and the island of Rhodes. In retirement, he and Judy trailered their sailboat, the Pequod II, across the country from Lake Mead, to the Texas coast and Duxbury, Massachusetts. Richard was also an adventurer, who rafted down the Danube River from Germany to Yugoslavia, and the Grand Canyon and Green Rivers in the southwest; and hiked the Machu Pichu trail in Peru, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska, and the Annapurna trail in Nepal, and bicycled through China. Mount Vernon, Colorado was a very important part of Dick’s life, where the family lived from 1958 until 2011. He was honored to serve on the Board of Directors several times and worked with the community to improve wildfire protection through thinning the forests of dead limbs, beetle kills and creating defensible spaces, as well as promote construction of the Club House sewer treatment facility and the new tennis complex with clay courts and platform tennis. In May 2011, Dick and Judy moved to Meadowlark Hills in Manhattan, KS to be closer to family and have enjoyed making new friends and attending frequent McCain Auditorium and Hale Library music concerts at Kansas State University. Dick also had the opportunity to get in one last sail several years ago on Tuttle Creek Reservoir with the help of the Blue Valley Yacht Club. Richard is survived by Judith, his wife and co-adventurer of 69 years, daughter Cynthia Cattell (John) of Minneapolis, MN, son Eric Cattell (Connie) of Manhattan, KS, grandchildren Keith, Alex, Elizabeth, and Phillip, and great grandchildren Ursula and Laszlo, and his sister Jeanne Cattell Rhinelander and brother-in-law William Dunmore. Marcia A Wikoff, 88, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 15, 2020, at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community, in Manhattan, Kansas. She was born on February 10, 1932, to Frank and Ada Winegardner. She was born and raised in East Lynn, Missouri, where she had her beloved puppy companion Petee. She married Maurice Wikoff in 1954 while attending Kansas State University, together they had two children Diane and Dan. Marcia began her career as a teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School, in Manhattan, Kansas before moving due to Maurice being a member of the Airforce. As a family, they moved to San Angelo, Texas, Moultry Georgia, and even Labrador in Newfoundland, Canada. After separating from Maurice, Marcia moved to Arizona and taught in Scottsdale and Litchfield park for 25 years. After the death of her parents, she spent time in Sequim, Washington, and then moved to Laguna Hills, California for 12 years before returning to the midwest to be closer to family. Marcia frequently played both the organ and the piano at the United Methodist Church in Manhattan, Kansas, where she attended. Marcia loved being a teacher and her impact on the young Arizona children was incredibly rewarding for her. She is survived by her daughter Diane (Rod) Quinn of Fort Collins, Colorado, her son Dan (Carla) Wikoff of Manhattan, Kansas, and her grandchildren Stephanie (Mickey) Zimmerman, Brittani (Jordon) Poland, Rachel (Greg) Janitell, Danny (Dee) Quinn, her great-grandchildren, BraeLynn, Piper, Phoenyx, and Bryson Zimmerman, Jackson and Sammy Poland, and Adalynn and Reed Janitell. Services are private at the behest of the family. Marcia A Wikoff - February 10, 1932 - November 15, 2020

Lynn Lentell, age 99, of Council Grove, passed away November 15, 2020 at Diversicare of Council Grove.&nbsp; Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, private services will be held.&nbsp; A Celebration of Lynn’s life will be held at a later date.

&nbsp;Lynn Lentell was born on Oct 15, 1921 at his Mother’s family (Randle) farm in Diamond Springs, KS. He was raised on the Ernest Linwood Lentell family farm in Wilsey, KS. He attended Olive Branch rural grade school, in Delavan, KS and graduated from Wilsey High School in 1939. In high school he played basketball and baseball. He loved baseball throughout his life, and he was a big fan of the Kansas City Royals in his later years. He attended Emporia State Teachers’ College for one year, before moving to Wichita to work at Beech Aircraft. He met his wife, Edith Pauline (Polly) Holmes at Beech and they were married in her hometown of Newton, KS on October 12, 1942.

Lynn was drafted into the Navy in 1942 and did his basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, where upon completion he was reassigned to Marine Corps Avionics. His advance training as a radar servicing technician was in Utah and Texas. He shipped out to the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific in late 1943 or early 1944. He was in Bomber Squadron VMB-413 based on Emirau until the Japanese surrender in 1945. He was discharged from the Marines in August 1946.

Lynn attended Kansas State University on the GI Bill and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1949. His son Randall Lynn Lentell was born there during his last semester at KSU in 1949. Upon graduation he moved the family to Council Grove, KS where he worked for the REA (Rural Electrification Administration) for two years. Lynn returned to work for Beech Aircraft in 1951, initially at the Herrington, KS airport facility. Lynn subsequently moved the family back to Wichita to again work at the local Beech Aircraft facility. Their daughter Paula Kyle was born in Wichita in 1953. In 1958 Lynn was transferred to Beech’s Aerospace Division in Boulder, CO to work on their NASA Project Mercury manned-space program contract.

In 1965, Lynn went to work for General Electric in Daytona Beach, FL to work on their NASA manned-lunar landing program contracts. At GE he worked on Projects Gemini and Apollo. He would go to Cape Canaveral, FL to monitor launches until the manned space crafts were in orbit, and vectored off to the moon, at which time he would fly to the Johnson Space Center in Houston to monitor the flights in lunar orbit. Once the lunar activities were over and the crafts were on the return trip back to earth, he would return home to Daytona. He and his family were very proud of his NASA related work, and he had many astronaut mementos and program memorabilia around his home.

In 1973, Lynn’s aerospace contract work was completed and GE transferred him to Washington, DC to work on their Navy and Commercial nuclear power programs. His work primarily revolved around Nuclear NQA-1 Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs. Lynn and Polly lived in the Northern Virginia suburbs of DC. During his time working on GE’s nuclear power programs, he and Polly had extended stays on projects in Pasadena, CA and Syracuse, NY. They enjoyed their project travel assignments and they were always active in their local churches. He retired from GE during his final Washington, DC assignments in 1986 and he and Polly moved to their final home in Council Grove, KS, near his boyhood home of Wilsey.

Lynn &amp; Polly loved retirement in small farm-town Council Grove and were both active in community groups. Lynn was Secretary for the local Historical Society for 16 yrs and Polly was actively involved as well. They were members of the local “Country Club” and were socially active there until he finally quit playing golf when he was 88+ yrs old, when he could no longer drive over “200 yds”…. Polly was very actively involved in the Morris County Hospital Axillary. Lynn was a long-time member of the Council Grove Masonic Lodge #36, and the Isis Shrine &amp; Scottish Rite, Salina, at the highest levels. He &amp; Polly were both very active in the First Baptist Church in Council Grove for many years.

Lynn suffered a stroke in 2019 and he subsequently moved into Diversicare of Council Grove. The compassionate staff of Diversicare provided loving care for him during the last year of his life.

Lynn will be buried with full military honors.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; wife Polly; and sisters Margret and Ellen.&nbsp; He is survived by his son Randall Lentell and wife Sue, of Boise, ID; daughter Kyle Dike and husband Kenny, of Wilsey; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Lynn Lentell, age 99, of Council Grove, passed away November 15, 2020 at Diversicare of Council Grove.&nbsp; Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, private services will be held.&nbsp; A Celebration of Lynn’s life will be held at a later date.&nbsp;Lynn Lentell was born on Oct 15, 1921 at his Mother’s family (Randle) farm in Diamond Springs, KS. He was raised on the Ernest Linwood Lentell family farm in Wilsey, KS. He attended Olive Branch rural grade school, in Delavan, KS and graduated from Wilsey High School in 1939. In high school he played basketball and baseball. He loved baseball throughout his life, and he was a big fan of the Kansas City Royals in his later years. He attended Emporia State Teachers’ College for one year, before moving to Wichita to work at Beech Aircraft. He met his wife, Edith Pauline (Polly) Holmes at Beech and they were married in her hometown of Newton, KS on October 12, 1942.Lynn was drafted into the Navy in 1942 and did his basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, where upon completion he was reassigned to Marine Corps Avionics. His advance training as a radar servicing technician was in Utah and Texas. He shipped out to the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific in late 1943 or early 1944. He was in Bomber Squadron VMB-413 based on Emirau until the Japanese surrender in 1945. He was discharged from the Marines in August 1946.Lynn attended Kansas State University on the GI Bill and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1949. His son Randall Lynn Lentell was born there during his last semester at KSU in 1949. Upon graduation he moved the family to Council Grove, KS where he worked for the REA (Rural Electrification Administration) for two years. Lynn returned to work for Beech Aircraft in 1951, initially at the Herrington, KS airport facility. Lynn subsequently moved the family back to Wichita to again work at the local Beech Aircraft facility. Their daughter Paula Kyle was born in Wichita in 1953. In 1958 Lynn was transferred to Beech’s Aerospace Division in Boulder, CO to work on their NASA Project Mercury manned-space program contract.In 1965, Lynn went to work for General Electric in Daytona Beach, FL to work on their NASA manned-lunar landing program contracts. At GE he worked on Projects Gemini and Apollo. He would go to Cape Canaveral, FL to monitor launches until the manned space crafts were in orbit, and vectored off to the moon, at which time he would fly to the Johnson Space Center in Houston to monitor the flights in lunar orbit. Once the lunar activities were over and the crafts were on the return trip back to earth, he would return home to Daytona. He and his family were very proud of his NASA related work, and he had many astronaut mementos and program memorabilia around his home.In 1973, Lynn’s aerospace contract work was completed and GE transferred him to Washington, DC to work on their Navy and Commercial nuclear power programs. His work primarily revolved around Nuclear NQA-1 Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs. Lynn and Polly lived in the Northern Virginia suburbs of DC. During his time working on GE’s nuclear power programs, he and Polly had extended stays on projects in Pasadena, CA and Syracuse, NY. They enjoyed their project travel assignments and they were always active in their local churches. He retired from GE during his final Washington, DC assignments in 1986 and he and Polly moved to their final home in Council Grove, KS, near his boyhood home of Wilsey.Lynn &amp; Polly loved retirement in small farm-town Council Grove and were both active in community groups. Lynn was Secretary for the local Historical Society for 16 yrs and Polly was actively involved as well. They were members of the local “Country Club” and were socially active there until he finally quit playing golf when he was 88+ yrs old, when he could no longer drive over “200 yds”…. Polly was very actively involved in the Morris County Hospital Axillary. Lynn was a long-time member of the Council Grove Masonic Lodge #36, and the Isis Shrine &amp; Scottish Rite, Salina, at the highest levels. He &amp; Polly were both very active in the First Baptist Church in Council Grove for many years.Lynn suffered a stroke in 2019 and he subsequently moved into Diversicare of Council Grove. Funeral services for Steven R. Wilson, age 76, of Manhattan, formerly of Salina and Abilene will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2020 at the Bethel Cemetery near Abilene. Steven passed away peacefully with his loving family on Friday, November 13, 2020. He was born February 19, 1944 in Abilene the son of Bert and Catherine Zelma (Fawcett) Wilson. He attended local schools and graduated from Abilene High School. Steve worked for A&amp;R Freight in Denver for many years as an accountant and eventually drove a truck for Price Truck Line retiring in 2009. He enjoyed collecting coins, and horses, fishing, reading, especially his Bible, and watching his beloved Denver Broncos. But his greatest joy was his family especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his two beautiful daughters Cheryl McCormick and her husband Brian, Stephanie Chitwood and her husband Dan both of Manhattan, their mother Josephine, and four grandchildren. Sandra “Sandie” K. Fahey, a Chapman resident since 1979, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020 in her Chapman home.

She was born March 1, 1941 in Robinson, Illinois, the daughter of Max M. and Mary E. (Shaw) Polly. She was united in marriage to Kenneth J. Fahey on November 16, 1957 in Newton, Illinois.

They started their married life in Hopkins, Minnesota. Together they raised four children: Kim Kali-Schultes (Brian,); Ren Fahey (Christine); Brent Fahey (Jamie); and Kyle Fahey (Cathy). They lived in a variety of places, to include Tucson &amp; Phoenix, AZ; Salt Lake City, UT; Albuquerque, NM, Denver, CO and Cincinnati, OH before settling down in Chapman, KS.

Sandie was a cosmetologist in her early years and worked in a variety of different settings. In her later years, she was the co-owner of the Chapman Grocery Store and Shamrock Estates Mobile Home Park. Sandie believed in serving others through random acts of kindness to those less fortunate and was often an unseen hero to friends and those in need.

During her illness, Sandie fought a long and courageous battle over the last two years of her life and was able to remain in her home with the support of her family, her caregiver, Jane Kobetich and Dickinson County Hospice staff. The family wants to thank each of these individuals for their loving care of her.

Sandie is survived by her loving husband Ken of the home, her four children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Philip.

Due to the current pandemic, friends may visit on Thursday, November 19, 2020 from Noon until 7 p.m. at Londeen-Overlease Funeral Chapel in Chapman. Private family graveside services for Sandie will be Friday, November 20, 2020 at Indian Hills Cemetery in Chapman.

Ilene Marie (McClure) Colbert, age 92, of Manhattan, died November 15, 2020, at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community. She was born September 14, 1928, at Wabaunsee, Kansas, the daughter of Ulis and Stella (Bach) McClure. Ilene grew up in the Tabor Valley Community south of Zeandale and went through 8th grade at Tabor Valley School, and then went to Manhattan High School, graduating in 1946. She was married to Earl Junior Colbert on September 15, 1946, in Manhattan. Pooch worked for Coles Military Store for two years, the Junior High Cafeteria for four years, the Riley County Treasurer’s Office for two years, and for 19 years at the Riley County Clerk’s Office. She served as the Riley County Clerk from 1989 to 1997. She was also the Elections Coordinator working with approximately 400 people and performing the duties prescribed by the state for elections. Ilene was also a member of the First Lutheran Church and served on the Church Council, was a member of the PTA while children were in school, BPW and the Republican Women. Pooch had traveled to Mexico, Jamaica and 32 states, enjoyed crafts, fishing, working in her yard and taking walks. Most of all Ilene loved her family and attended all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren events. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Junior Colbert on May 16, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her three children: Deanna Anderson, Roxie Pelfrey and her husband Darin and Vaughn Colbert all of Manhattan; five grandchildren: Todd and Shawn Maguire, Kinsey Griffin, Ian and Dusty Moore; 12 great-grandchildren: Brittni Champion, Casey Maguire, Erin Shearouse, Hunter, Ella, Brianna, Reagan, Colter and Isaac Griffin, Tyrus and Cy Moore, and Logan Moore; three great-great grandchildren: Adrianna and Dominik Champion and Ronin Maguire. Margaret Ann Frost,&nbsp;61, of Wamego, Kansas, died Sunday, November 15, 2020, at the Wamego Health Center. &nbsp;She was a life-long member of the area.

Margaret was born July 11, 1959, in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer and Fayetta Mae McGinty McHugh. &nbsp;She attended

local schools and graduated in 1977 from Manhattan High School.

Margaret was a Certified Nurse’s Aide and was also a Certified Medication and Home Health Aide. &nbsp;She worked many years for Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan. &nbsp;She also had worked at Good Samaritan Society – Valley Vista in Wamego.

Margaret married John Blessing, Sr. on March 4, 1978, in Enid, Oklahoma. &nbsp;He preceded her in death on February 24, 2009. Margaret then married Edwin Frost on June 9, 2012, in Manhattan. &nbsp;He survives at their home.

Margaret was a SAL member of American Legion Post 17 and loved spending time there dancing and listening to music. &nbsp;She was a life-long animal lover and especially loved her own “fur babies”. &nbsp;Margaret collected angels and dolls and loved to read. &nbsp;Her books of choice were Stephen King novels. Margaret was known for her wonderful cooking. &nbsp;She was a very kind, and caring person and loved by her family, her co-workers and the residents at Meadowlark Hills.

Margaret is also survived by her children; Angela Blessing, Wamego, John Blessing, Jr. (Amanda), Wamego, Eric Blessing (Chastity), Jacksboro, Tennessee; and like-family to her, Emmie Devins, Manhattan, and John Long, Wamego; &nbsp;her siblings, Cherry Stewart, Manhattan, Peggy McHugh Tacoma, Washington, Carolyn Flippin, Tacoma, Stanley McHugh, California, Clyde McHugh, Mandan, North Dakota, and John Paul McHugh, Manhattan.

Leola's life began on December 13, 1920 in rural Ellsworth County, Kansas.&nbsp; She was the daughter of Albert and Ella (Pflughoeft) Haase.&nbsp; Leola attended St. Paul's School thru 8th grade in North Ellsworth County. She was united in marriage to Edward L. Neuschafer 80 years ago on November 3, 1940.&nbsp;

Leola was a farm wife, tending to livestock, driving tractor, milking cows and working on the farm.&nbsp; She also worked as a nurse's aide and cook at the Lutheran Home of Herington, and as a cook at the Hope School.&nbsp; Leola was a volunteer with the Museum of Hope, the Hope Library, the Hope school, and the Memorial Day serives.&nbsp; She was a member of the Hope American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Trinity Lutheran Church in Ramona and was honored as Parade Queen for the Hope Heritage Fesitval parade.&nbsp;

Her greatest joy was her family which includes her children Gary (Judy) Neuschafer of Lindsborg, Sheri Burt of Salina, and Kathy (Larry) Ryan of Lenexa; grandchildren Daran (Kendra) Neuschafer, Doug (Michelle) Neuschafer, Stephani (Larry) Graytak, Kelly (Alie) Burt, Staci (Todd) Ellison, Heather Ryan, Tom Ryan and Mike Ryan; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; her brother Lloyd (Erna) Haase of Ellsworth and several nieces and nephews. Mary Christine “Christy” Wilhite, 68, of Junction City, KS, peacefully passed away and joined the Lord on November 14th, 2020. Johnson Funeral Home of Junction City is assisting the family with cremation arrangements. A Memorial Mass Funeral and celebration of life, date yet to be determined, will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 218 N. Washington St., Junction City, KS. Christy was born on June 17th, in Junction City, KS, to Clarence and Jeanne (Davin) Ehm. Being a lifelong resident of Junction City, Christy attended, and graduated from, St. Xavier Catholic School, the same parish where she remained a member of for the entirety of her life. On April 8th, 1972, she married the love of her life Richard Wilhite, with whom she enjoyed 48 years of marriage, love and happiness. Family was always first for Christy, and she took great pride in raising her family with Richard. In doing so, she spent the first part of her career working as a caring homemaker and mother. As her family grew, she started to work part-time at KJCK radio station, before moving on to work for USD 475 as an administrative assistant at the Middle School, for many, many years. In the recent past she made a final career-move, working at the family business, Wilhite Moving and Storage. Over the years, Christy had many interests and hobbies; early in her life, these were her children, their activities and all things involved; and later in life these graduated to her grandchildren. Aside from her love of family, Christy was artfully talented and she loved teaching herself new things such as calligraphy, photography, and “making photo shows” of, and for, her children and grandchildren. Christy was an avid "sewist", loved to read, and write, and had an inherent love of nature and the outdoors. She loved flowers, planting with her husband, and bird watching, the latter an appreciation she gained from her mother. Christy was a dog-lover. Once her kids were grown and gone, she and Richard became parents to two, large, golden retrievers that she loved dearly. Christy was a devout catholic and never, ever, missed Mass. Above all, Christy was a devoted wife, loving and caring grandmother and a loyal friend. Christy is survived by her loving family: husband Richard Wilhite of Junction City, KS; her two sons, Brian (Darcy) Wilhite of Wichita, KS and Michael Wilhite of Junction City, KS; her sister, Karen Blanken of Topeka, KS; her brother Sonny Ehm of Junction City, KS; her sister-in-law, Theresa Fitting of York, PA; three grandchildren that she greatly loved and adored, Genevieve and Adelyne Wilhite, and Davin Wilhite; as well as a host of loving family and friends.

Nancy Rae Haldeman, age 68 of Manhattan, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House.

She was born on July 23, 1952 in Westmoreland, the daughter of Howard and Ena Mae (Maskil) Strifler and graduated from Westmoreland High School.

On April 17, 1971 she married Craig Haldeman.  He survives of the home.

Nancy was an underwriter for Farm Bureau Insurance Company from 1970 until 2013 and worked at All About Quilts from 2012 until 2019.  She was a member of the Sedalia Community Church, where she served as chairman of the church and as a Sunday school teacher and was strong in her Christian faith.  Her biggest hobbies were quilting and spending time with her grandsons.  She loved sitting outside enjoying her flowers and hummingbirds.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Danelle Woodard and husband Jesse of Manhattan; four grandsons, Jace, Brendon, Kadrick and Mason Woodard of Manhattan; two sisters, Linda Smith of Manhattan and Donna Carley and husband Danny of Wamego and one brother, Dave Strifler and wife Sharon of Westmoreland.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother-in-law, Robert Smith.

Junior L. Clark, 87, of Wamego, Kansas passed away November 12, 2020 at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas.

Junior was born September 8, 1933 in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Leland and Hazel (Campbell) Clark.&nbsp; He attended school in Beloit and graduated from Beloit High School in 1952.

On February 7, 1954, Junior was united in marriage to Kathleen Studer at the Zion Lutheran Church in Beloit.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by Kathleen on May 28, 2018.&nbsp; To this union were born five children.&nbsp; He is survived by those five children:&nbsp; Jeanne Bowen (Ed) of Wamego, KS, Jennifer Oskarson (Dan) of Wamego, KS, Jay Clark (Kim) of Wamego, KS, Jeff Clark (Cindy) of Wichita, KS, and Janelle Wolf (Bill) of Manhattan , KS; 10 grandchildren:&nbsp; Adam Bowen (Abby), Amy Stubblefield (Aaron), Ann Ten Eyck (Mark), Emily Humm (Andrew), Will Clark (Sydney), Nicole Clark, Tyler Clark, Hallie Kristalyn (Seth), Hayden Wolf (Andrea), Elise Wolf; and 9 great-grandchildren:&nbsp; Bradley, Aubrey, and CC Bowen, Avery and Myles Stubblefield, Cara and Cameron Ten Eyck, Gwendolyn Kristalyn Hannah Humm.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Emmot, and a brother Donald Clark.

For the majority of his working career Junior was the General Manager of Wamego Telephone Company now WTC, from 1960-1998.&nbsp; He also served on WTC’s Board of Directors for 58 years.&nbsp; During his sixty years in Wamego, Junior served and dedicated his time to many activities in the community.&nbsp; He served on many boards, including the Wamego Recreation Commission, Wamego Country Club, and First National Bank.&nbsp; He also served as the Mayor of Wamego as well as being selected Citizen of the Year.

Junior had a passion for golf.&nbsp; If he wasn’t at home he could be found on the course. He was club champion numerous times.&nbsp; This passion for golf was passed down through the generations.&nbsp; He and Kathleen seldom missed any game, program, or birthday of any of the grandkids as well as great-grandkids.&nbsp; He was definitely a family man as well as a loving husband.

Donald Lee Tidquist, age 81, of Manhattan, died November 11, 2020 in Wamego. Don was born on December 11, 1938 in Manhattan, the son of Thure and Flossie (Mitchell) Tidquist. He graduated from Cleburne High School in 1957. He served in the United States Army from 1957 until 1960. Don worked for many years as a repairman for the United Phone Company. He retired after 32 years. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors. He loved to sit and relax spending time with family and friends drinking a beer and visiting about life and events. He was a good hardworking and caring man. Don is survived by his wife, Laura Phillips, of Manhattan; step-children, Ron Phillips (Linda), of St. George, Rick Phillips (Vickey), of Ohio, Donna Hatfield (Roger), of Claude, TX, and Darla Paquette (Dennis) of Amarillo, TX; also his sister, Betty Mullet, of Manhattan, and his nieces Lisa and Nancy, and his 18 step-grandchildren, 29 step-great-grandchildren, and 1 step-great-great grandchild. Private services will be held for Donald at the St. George Cemetery. A public service will be held at a later date when it is safe for all to attend. Donald Lee Tidquist, age 81, of Manhattan, died November 11, 2020 in Wamego. Don was born on December 11, 1938 in Manhattan, the son of Thure and Flossie (Mitchell) Tidquist. He graduated from Cleburne High School in 1957. He served in the United States Army from 1957 until 1960. Don worked for many years as a repairman for the United Phone Company. He retired after 32 years. Don enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors. He loved to sit and relax spending time with family and friends drinking a beer and visiting about life and events. He was a good hardworking and caring man. Don is survived by his wife, Laura Phillips, of Manhattan; step-children, Ron Phillips (Linda), of St. George, Rick Phillips (Vickey), of Ohio, Donna Hatfield (Roger), of Claude, TX, and Darla Paquette (Dennis) of Amarillo, TX; also his sister, Betty Mullet, of Manhattan, and his nieces Lisa and Nancy, and his 18 step-grandchildren, 29 step-great-grandchildren, and 1 step-great-great grandchild. Private services will be held for Donald at the St. George Cemetery. A public service will be held at a later date when it is safe for all to attend. Virginia May “Ginger” Garwick, 88, of Manhattan, KS, passed away Wednesday evening, November 11, 2020, at her residence. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, John Zook Garwick. Ginger was born in Minneapolis, MN, on April 14, 1932, the daughter of the late Frances Eleanor (Wynn) and Harold Richard Smithson. She was a member of the University Christian Church in Manhattan. Ginger will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who gave unconditional love to her entire family. She was a daycare provider for 30+ years. She loved bowling, sewing, and knitting, and was an avid reader. She was an active volunteer for many years for Mercy Hospital, Medi-mates, and Meals on Wheels. Ginger was a member of the Gamma Lambda Chapter of the ESA Sorority, the Hi-Wives Club, and multiple bridges playing clubs. She and her husband were recipients of the Volunteer Service Award from Mercy Hospital and the 2001 Little Apple Chorus Award of Harmony. Ginger is survived by two sons, Ken (Cindy) Garwick of Manhattan and Tim (Celinda) Garwick of Panama City, FL; two daughters, Lori Garwick of Manhattan and Heidi (Terry) Francis of Manhattan; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild and one sister, Gwen Jennen of Federal Way, WA. Patty Rose (Higbee) Duffy, 73, of Manhattan, KS, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020. Patty was born in Arkansas City, Kansas on November 3, 1947, to Wilda (Coggins) and Denton Higbee. She spent her early life in Cowley County, Kansas on the family farm and attended grade school in a one-room school house. In 1958, the family moved to Tribune, Kansas. She graduated from Greeley County high school in 1965 and went on to attend Cowley County Junior College where she graduated with an associates degree. Patty moved to Manhattan in 1969 working in various positions around town. She worked as a bookkeeper for over 30 years at Goetsch-Irvine Motor Company, and for the past several years at Manhattan Motors. Patty was an avid K-State fan, attending the K-State Women’s Basketball games for several years as a season ticket holder and many home football games. She enjoyed fishing, boating and relaxing on any body of water. She also loved planning trips with her sisters, and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She was a long time member of First Christian Church in Manhattan, where she was a dedicated volunteer and leader. She loved the friendships she had with the congregation and especially with the women in the Russell Group/Faith Sisters Group. Patty is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer (Greg) Piazza, of Dallas, TX; Ange (Kurt) Jones, of Wichita, KS; her sisters, Billie Ochsner, and Kay Crow, and her grandchildren Kaylin Jones and Kyle Jones. Dorothy May (Fisher) Tanner went to be in the arms of the Lord on November 12, 2020 at the age of 101 at the Vintage Park Assisted Living in Wamego.&nbsp; She was born August 7, 1919 near Delavan, Kansas at the home of her parents, Herbert Harrison Fisher and Alice May (Burton) Fisher.&nbsp; The baby sister to two older brothers, Ernest and Willis, both preceded her in death.

Dorothy graduated in 1933, from District 60, Gilbert Grade School in Morris County.&nbsp; She was valedictorian in the class of 1937 at Delavan High School.

Dorothy married John William Tanner of Wamego on September 8, 1940 at the home of her parents.&nbsp; He preceded her in death September 18, 1991.&nbsp; They lived on a farm south of Manhattan for a short time and then moved to the Laclede community northeast of Wamego. &nbsp;They farmed and John had a carpentry business.&nbsp; Dorothy worked on the farm and raised chickens.&nbsp; She kept the books for both businesses.&nbsp; To this union were born two daughters, Barbara Marie and Mary Johnette.

Dorothy was a woman of many talents, a hard worker, faithful to her family and community.&nbsp; She loved to trace family history and Laclede community history.&nbsp; She spent countless hours at her word processor recording history as well as tracing family genealogy.&nbsp; She was a member of the Laclede Baptist Church after being baptized December 5, 1948.&nbsp; She served as a Sunday School Superintendent and a teacher both in Sunday school and vacation Bible School.&nbsp; She was Church clerk from 1955 till the time when she was not able to attend church, because of her health, all the time keeping accurate records of the church history.&nbsp; She was a member of the American Baptist Women of Laclede, officer in the Tri-River and A.B.W. Association.&nbsp; She was a member of the Laclede F.C.E. for over 75 years.&nbsp; She was a volunteer for the national weather service from 1966-2002.&nbsp; She was also active with the Wamego Senior Citizens, Widow to Widow Support Group, and volunteered at the Columbian Theater in Wamego.

She was a member of 4-H winning trips to Chicago in 1939 and Washington D.C. in 1940.&nbsp; She worked in the Morris County Extension Agents Office before her marriage.&nbsp; Later, was a member of the Kansas Master 4-H Club.&nbsp; She was a former 4-H Who’s Who Club member.&nbsp;&nbsp; She served as club leader and sewing leader at the Tannerville 4-H Club for over 25 years.&nbsp; She won the Kansas 4-H Alumni award in 1959.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Barbara Marie (Don preceded her in death) Rezac, and Mary Johnette (Larry) Looka; five grandchildren, Lance (Deb) Rezac, Jay (Stacy) Rezac, both of Onaga, Kim (Gary) Robbins, Emmett, KS, Chris (Jennifer) Looka, Dallas, GA, and Lane (Tina) Looka, Holyoke, CO; thirteen great-grandchildren, Nicole (Luke) Harrison, Kelsey (Ryan) Mattie, Garrett Rezac, Jayme (Corey) Lundberg, Russell (Tiffany) Rezac, Matthew (Alexa) Rezac, Tanner Robbins, Kassidy (Bryan) Nelson, Stephani Robbins, Cody (Shannon) Looka, Hope Looka, Zachary Looka, and Lauryn Looka; eight great-great-grandchildren, Carissa and Adelynn Harrison, Evelynn and Brody Rezac, Jayden and Kenzie Lundberg, Lily Looka and Livia Looka; and three strep great-grandchildren, and four step great-great-grandchildren.

Private Services for Dorothy will be Thursday, November 19th, 2020 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the Wamego City Cemetery.&nbsp; Dorothy will lie in-state on Wednesday, November 18th&nbsp;from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with social distancing and masks required.

Frank Martino, Jr. 91, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family. Cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of life service will take place. Frank was born September 10, 1929, in Junction City, KS, the son of Francis Anthony and Gladys (Marie) Martino, Sr. Frank graduated from Junction City High School with class of 1949. He attended Kansas State University on a football scholarship for one year. After attending Kansas State University, he worked as a auto body mechanic at Reed Body Shop in Junction City, KS. He was drafted to serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He later worked for the Railway Express for nineteen years. In his final years of employment, he owned and operated Martino Janitorial and Carpet Cleaning until his retirement. He married Eileen Heldstab November 10, 1950, in Junction City, KS. Survivors left to mourn his loss are his wife Eileen of the home in Junction City, KS; one son, Doug Martino of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Brenda Hall of Excelsior Springs, MO; four grandchildren, Seth Hall, Kristin Fish, Travis Hall and Brandon Martino; eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son Mike Martino and one sister Mary Frances Adams.
