Willard Lane Hodges, 66, of St. George, Kansas, died Thursday, April 30, 2020, at Via Christi Hospital in&nbsp;Manhattan. &nbsp;He was a lifelong resident of the community.

Willard was born March 29, 1954, in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Loran and Irene Ward Hodges. &nbsp;He attended local schools and graduated in 1972 from St. George High School, where he was a champion pole vaulter.

Willard was a union iron worker and welder. &nbsp;He worked many years on the family farm as well as in the construction industry in Kansas, Texas, and Colorado.

Willard was a jack of all trades, was known for his ability to fix and drive fast cars, and was always tinkering and working on some project. &nbsp;He was an artist and excellent cook. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and riding four wheelers and motorcycles. His greatest passion was the time he could spend with his grandchildren. Willard had many friends, was outgoing and sociable. He will be greatly missed.

Willard married Barbara Drown. &nbsp;Two children were born of this union. They were later divorced. &nbsp;He then married Janelle Norris with a daughter born of this union. They were also later divorced. &nbsp; On December 15, 1989, Willard married Jeanette Volpert in Fort Collins, Colorado at which time he gained an additional daughter and five sons were born of this union. She survives at their home in St.George, Kansas.

Willard is also survived by his children; Daina Zolck (Joe, Wamego, Joe Hodges, St. George, Rachelle Dinger, Rifle, Colorado, Cory Norris, Spicewood, Texas, Ryan Hodges Manhattan, Jordan Hodges (Amanda, Nicholas Hodges, Colby Hodges (Riley) and Taylor Hodges, all of St. George; his grandchildren; Kynedee, Mikaela, Amylyn, Emma, Alex, Isabella, Ryatt, Remydee, Makinzee, Shelby, Aiden, Kathrin, Layne, Payton, Elliot, Lillian and Addalynn; and his great-grandchildren, Jack and Scarlett; his brothers, Russell “Butch” Hodges, Dennis Hodges (Sherill, Gary “Doc” Hodges, and Edwin “Ed” Hodges (Cheri, all of St. George. &nbsp;Willard was preceded in death by his parents.

Willard will lie-in-state on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego. &nbsp;Cremation will follow and a celebration of life service and inurnment in St. George Cemetery will be held at a later date. &nbsp;The family suggests memorial contributions to Campanella-Evans Mortuary to help with funeral expenses.&nbsp;

Mary Yvonne Rice 83, of White City passed away May 1, 2020 at Morris County Hospital, Council Grove.&nbsp; She was born December 12, 1936 in St. Charles, Missouri to Joe and Lavaun Gieber. She grew up in Ogden, KS and attended Lucky High School in Manhattan, KS.&nbsp; She worked at the PX on Fort Riley where she met and later married William “Bill” Rice.&nbsp; They were married January 15, 1955 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ogden, KS.

She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much.&nbsp; They loved to travel and share trips with their grandchildren.&nbsp; She loved the lake, bowling, attending school activities, a good card game and family get togethers.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years Bill, daughter Jamie Schmidt and husband Tracy, sons Billy and wife Annette, Rusty and wife Ilona, all of White City. Grandchildren- Joey Rice and wife Dayna, Sydney and Camryn; Christin Parrish and husband Seth, Bode and Chandler, Autumn Wolff and husband Nick, Austin and Alyssa, Ryan Rice and wife Megan, Katelynn and Braden, Kellie Obermueller and husband Rob, Riley and Kaylee, Natalie McCullough and husband Clayton, Reese, Sloan and Harper, Justin Schmidt and wife Chelsey, Kayden, Marlee, Jace and Blair,&nbsp; Samantha Rice and Landon, and Amber Colvin and husband Matt, Regan Mary and Elliott.&nbsp;

Freddie (Fred) Harold Epperson, 87, was called to Heaven April 28, 2020, surrounded by family, in his Marion, Kansas home.

Fred was born to Flora Epperson (Gaugh) and Ed Epperson on April 14, 1933 in Clarksville, Arkansas.

Fred enlisted with the United States Army at the age of 16, and then by the age of 17 was on a ship to Korea where he served 22 months in the war and was a decorated soldier. In 1954, he married his sweetheart, Bertha and together they had 3 children. &nbsp;Through much of his adult life, he was employed with Love Box Company in Wichita, Kansas for more than 25 years. His career began as a truck driver, and he was then promoted to the position of logistics and manager of all Love Box transportations companywide across several plant locations. Fred very much enjoyed the outdoors, in fact, he was well known for having the most fantastic garden with an abundance of tomatoes, cucumbers, and green peppers. He had a love for all types of animals, especially his cats, Gidget and Buster who kept him company after the passing of his sweetheart in 2018. &nbsp;He and his wife enjoyed spending time outdoors together, where they would take motorcycle rides and camping trips to Table Rock Lake and nearby lakes.

He is survived by his children, Harold (Kim) Epperson, David (Susan) Epperson, Charlotte (Chris) Coleman, brother Jimmy (Maria) Balentine, and sister Carolyn (Don) Simpson; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Bertha Epperson, his brothers, Leroy Epperson and Everett (Bud) Epperson and sister, Charlotte Baskin.

Bernice was born on August 18, 1926, in Dallas, Texas to James and Annie (McCarthy) Dennis. She attended Lincoln High School and after her graduation, she earned an associates degree in the personal care services. She then moved to Junction City, Kansas, and became an independent business owner. She owned and operated a barber shop and liquor store. Bernice had also contracted with Fort Riley to be a barber for soldiers.

She enjoyed gardening and fashion and was a member of Ward AME Chapel of Junction City.

Bernice is survived by her loving family: her sister, Lee Gilmore of Dallas, TX; her close family friends, Freddie and wife Cassandra Edwards of Junction City, KS, and Patricia McDonald of Junction City, KS; many nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Annie Dennis and Ophelia Furlow, Flora Smith, and her brother, J.W. Dennis.

Ronald L. Rairden, 64, of Junction City, died Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at Geary Community Hospital. Ron was born March 21, 1956 in Leavenworth, the son of Henry Lee and Shirley A. (Werner) Rairden. The family moved to Junction City, and later to Clyde, where Ron graduated from high school.

Ron went through restaurant management training with the McDonald's Corp., and later managed the McDonald's Restaurant on 6th Street in Junction City for many years. He later joined the Denny's Restaurant Corp. and managed the Denny's in Junction City for 12 years.

Ron married Joan Potter on March 23, 1974 in Clyde. Joan survives of the home.

Survivors include: Joan, Junction City; 2 sons, Ronny Rairden and Arthur Rairden, both of Junction City; a daughter, Rachel Kinsland and her husband Travis, Junction City; 4 sisters, Penny Baustian, Cheryl Foxx, both of Leavenworth, Sheila O'Neill, and Dee Willyard, both of Winchester; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great granddaughters. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, William S. Rairden.

It was Ron's wish to be cremated and that there be no services.

Wayne was born June 24, 1935, in Stockton, KS, the son of Tom and Zora Dishman.

Wayne graduated from Junction City High School with the class of 1954. Wayne worked for Graves Truck Lines for many years prior to his retirement. Before working for Graves Truck Lines, he played baseball for the Junction City Hawks as a pitcher. His nickname was "Lefty". At one time, Wayne and several other area players had the opportunity to try out for the Kansas City A's. Unfortunately, travel arrangements didn't allow them to make the trip.

On June 24, 2005, on his birthday, they dedicated the Wayne Dishman Field at Field One at North Park in Junction City. In 2012, he was inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame for the Distinguished Kansas Sportsman Award. Wayne was involved in youth baseball for over 60 years in our community. He patiently encouraged many young players. Wayne was an avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan as well as an avid KU fan.

Survivors include his wife Ruth (Cameron) Dishman; two sons, Mike Dishman and Jeff Dishman all of Junction City. KS and seven grandchildren, Brandon, Derrick, Austin, Darin, Amber, Maddy and Gage and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Darrel, Lymon and Don; one sister, Matie Dishman-Northrup and one granddaughter Tiffany Canaday..

If love, or just plain orneriness, could have kept Bill Aron here, he wouldn’t have left us on April 25, 2020.

He was born on February 25, 1941, in Franklin, Louisiana, and he never slowed down. His wonderful parents, William Thomas “Bill Tom” Aron, Sr., and Mattie Cornelia (Pratt) Aron, were in Heaven waiting for him along with his little brother, Joe Edward Aron. We assume they are lighting things on fire and blowing stuff up like in the old days. It’s safe to assume he’s up there fixing something. Grandson Tommy Trotter was waiting to show him the fishing spots.

Bill didn’t want to, but leaves behind the love of his life, Mary Ellen (Lilly) Aron. Married for 60 years, he was a lucky man because no one else would have put up with him for that long.

Bill also leaves behind a smart-mouthed daughter, Shai Trotter; her husband, John Trotter; grandchildren Nicole Beck, Jessica and Joe Ehrlich with daughter Nora, Jason Beck, Jr., and Lewis Trotter.

He is also survived by his book-loving, sword-swinging son, Kenneth Aron; Kenny’s wife, Becky Aron; grandchildren Keith Aron, Kenton Aron, Chris and Kamella Garrison with children Kaleigh, Piper, and Fisher, and Morgan and Amanda Garrison with children Sean, Kenslie, Ellie, and Tristan.

To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he will always be Papaw.

Bill enjoyed two successful careers, first in the military and then working in information technology. He attended numerous schools while in the military and later took courses and earned certifications in IT.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1958 at 17 years old. He spent four years as an avionics repair technician, working on everything from jet fighters to DC-3 transports. His time working with aircraft inspired him to be a pilot, but his imperfect eyesight prevented him from flying as a Marine. After earning his GED, spending a year in Atsugi, Japan fixing Marine aircraft and earning the rank of Lance Corporal, Bill separated from the Marine Corps and enlisted in the US Army.

The Army was sufficiently desperate for helicopter pilots in Vietnam that they accepted flight school applicants with corrected 20/20 vision, which now qualified Bill as an applicant. As an enlisted soldier his path would take him to Warrant School, but to qualify for that path he first had to enlist and serve a term in Vietnam as a foot soldier, where he earned his first Bronze Star with V for combat valor.

After Bill’s first tour in Vietnam, he was accepted into Warrant Officer School and then to Helicopter Flight School where he graduated #3 in his class. He was offered a direct commission, which he declined to focus on flying. He returned to Vietnam as a Huey pilot and repair specialist. He repaired helicopters at night and flew around the country recovering downed helicopters during the day. This role put him near multiple combat actions where he recovered downed air crews, medevac’d casualties, and assisted combat missions. These mission assists earned him two additional Bronze Stars with valor, the Air Medal, the ARCOM (Army Commendation Medal, and the Distinguished Flying Cross, which he earned on a rescue mission under heavy fire that killed his copilot seated next to him and also qualified him for the Purple Heart, which he refused. Until recently, he considered this the worst day of his life. After Vietnam, he continued to fly helicopters, traveling around the USA and the world supporting Army Aviation Maintenance. This was a high-risk job recovering broken aircraft and test flying newly repaired aircraft to qualify them for return to the line companies. Chief Warrant Officer William T. Aron, Jr., retired from military service in 1988. A few months after retiring, he had the honor of commissioning his son, Kenneth, upon graduation from Army ROTC at Kansas State University. By retirement he had added two additional ARCOMs, three MSMs (Meritorious Service Medals) and Master Aviator wings. He wore the Valorous Unit Award for his combat tour with the 1st Infantry Division and the Air Medal with a ‘20’ device.

After retirement, he spent two years in school earning CNE, CNA, and EWCNA certifications in Information Technology. He served as a Network Administrator for Salina Office Systems (SOS) and then as Chief Information Officer for the Kansas Highway Patrol until his retirement in 2003.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Abilene First Christian Church. Interment will follow in the Abilene Cemetery. Married for 60 years, he was a lucky man because no one else would have put up with him for that long.Bill also leaves behind a smart-mouthed daughter, Shai Trotter; her husband, John Trotter; grandchildren Nicole Beck, Jessica and Joe Ehrlich with daughter Nora, Jason Beck, Jr., and Lewis Trotter.He is also survived by his book-loving, sword-swinging son, Kenneth Aron; Kenny’s wife, Becky Aron; grandchildren Keith Aron, Kenton Aron, Chris and Kamella Garrison with children Kaleigh, Piper, and Fisher, and Morgan and Amanda Garrison with children Sean, Kenslie, Ellie, and Tristan.To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he will always be Papaw.Bill enjoyed two successful careers, first in the military and then working in information technology. He attended numerous schools while in the military and later took courses and earned certifications in IT.He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1958 at 17 years old. He spent four years as an avionics repair technician, working on everything from jet fighters to DC-3 transports. His time working with aircraft inspired him to be a pilot, but his imperfect eyesight prevented him from flying as a Marine. After earning his GED, spending a year in Atsugi, Japan fixing Marine aircraft and earning the rank of Lance Corporal, Bill separated from the Marine Corps and enlisted in the US Army.The Army was sufficiently desperate for helicopter pilots in Vietnam that they accepted flight school applicants with corrected 20/20 vision, which now qualified Bill as an applicant. As an enlisted soldier his path would take him to Warrant School, but to qualify for that path he first had to enlist and serve a term in Vietnam as a foot soldier, where he earned his first Bronze Star with V for combat valor.After Bill’s first tour in Vietnam, he was accepted into Warrant Officer School and then to Helicopter Flight School where he graduated #3 in his class. He was offered a direct commission, which he declined to focus on flying. He returned to Vietnam as a Huey pilot and repair specialist. He repaired helicopters at night and flew around the country recovering downed helicopters during the day. This role put him near multiple combat actions where he recovered downed air crews, medevac’d casualties, and assisted combat missions. These mission assists earned him two additional Bronze Stars with valor, the Air Medal, the ARCOM (Army Commendation Medal, and the Distinguished Flying Cross, which he earned on a rescue mission under heavy fire that killed his copilot seated next to him and also qualified him for the Purple Heart, which he refused. Until recently, he considered this the worst day of his life. After Vietnam, he continued to fly helicopters, traveling around the USA and the world supporting Army Aviation Maintenance. This was a high-risk job recovering broken aircraft and test flying newly repaired aircraft to qualify them for return to the line companies. Chief Warrant Officer William T. Aron, Jr., retired from military service in 1988. A few months after retiring, he had the honor of commissioning his son, Kenneth, upon graduation from Army ROTC at Kansas State University. By retirement he had added two additional ARCOMs, three MSMs (Meritorious Service Medals) and Master Aviator wings. He wore the Valorous Unit Award for his combat tour with the 1st Infantry Division and the Air Medal with a ‘20’ device.After retirement, he spent two years in school earning CNE, CNA, and EWCNA certifications in Information Technology. He served as a Network Administrator for Salina Office Systems (SOS) and then as Chief Information Officer for the Kansas Highway Patrol until his retirement in 2003.Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Abilene First Christian Church. Interment will follow in the Abilene Cemetery. She was born on May 21, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of Aubrey Earl “Pat” and Wilma (Suebert) Adkins

On February 16, 1991, she married Carl Friedrich.

Marie held many jobs during her lifetime.  She was an assembly worker for Texas Instruments and Q-Tronics, waitressed at a number of restaurants and retired as the office manager for Charlton-Manley Insurance Company.&nbsp;  She enjoyed reading and watching basketball, especially the KU Jayhawks.



She is survived by her husband, Carl Friedrich of Randolph; one son, Patrick Friedrich and wife Aubrey of Eudora; one grandson, Landen of Eudora; one daughter, Teri Sewell; one aunt, Marie “Boo” Eccard of Maryland and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Patsy Streckfus.

Junior E. Jeffrey, age 89, of Salina, formerly of Solomon, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 at his home in Salina.

He was born November 16, 1930 in Manchester, Kansas the son of Earl E. and Thelma A. (Gasswint) Jeffrey. Following high school Junior served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Junior was a master electrician for several years working for various companies and then had his own company called Jeffrey Electric. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

On April 18, 1953 Junior was married to Charlotte Lane in Minneapolis. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his daughters Cindy Jeffrey of Salina, Jennifer Jeffrey of Salina, Marcia Jeffrey of Salina, Wendy Jeffrey of Abilene; sons Billy Jeffrey of Abilene, Curtis Jeffrey of Salina, Douglas and his wife Twila of Enterprise; brothers Clyde Jeffrey of Wichita, Jim Jeffrey of Raiford, Florida; 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert and sister Marge Isaac.

Raymond “Dale” Snapp, age 90, of Wamego, KS passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 at his home.

On August 3, 1929, Dale was born to James “Austin” and Ada (Scritchfield) Snapp near Westmoreland, KS.&nbsp; Dale graduated from Westmoreland High School in 1947.&nbsp; After working on the farm, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950 where he served during the Korean War until his Honorable Discharge in 1954.&nbsp; After his service, Dale worked in construction before beginning his 38-year association with Standard Oil Company. He was united in marriage to Alta Marie Boman on January 16, 1956 at the First United Methodist Church in Belleville, KS.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on January 29, 2017.

Dale enjoyed traveling. He and Alta traveled to Hawaii several times.&nbsp; After retirement, they spent many winters in Alamo, TX.&nbsp; He also enjoyed fishing for crappie and walleye, camping, and was an avid bowler.&nbsp; He was a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the American Legion, and a former mayor of Wamego.

He is survived by three daughters, Janet Seematter (Terry, Manhattan, KS, Connie Carr (Kent, Wamego, KS, and Pam Havenstein (Mark, Westmoreland, KS; one son, Randy Snapp (Lori, Holt, MO; nine grandchildren, Christopher Seematter (Janae, Wamego, KS, Caitlin Davis (Cody, Jackson, NE, Lindsay Bryant (Travis, Penokee, KS, Zach Havenstein, Westmoreland, KS, Brad Havenstein, Westmoreland, KS, Greg Snapp, Liberty, MO, Chad Snapp, Springfield, MO, Allison Snapp, Holt, MO, and Tyler Snapp, Holt, MO; four great-grandchildren, Westin and Anna Seematter, and Colton and Sierra Davis; one sister, Helen Beashore, Edwardsville, KS; and a sister-in-law, Rita Snapp, Westmoreland, KS.

Blake's life began on January 30, 1990 in Salina.  He was the son of Nick and Janet (Seidel) Mayes.  Blake was a 2008 graduate of Beloit High School and attended Cloud County Community College.  He was a wrestler in high school, winning State at the 152-pound weight class his senior year.  Blake began wrestling at the age of 4 and excelled at the sport.  As much as he excelled at wrestling, Blake's true passion was music.  He could play any instrument and wrote his own music and lyrics.  He could sit down, pick up an instrument and within a short time make it sound like he had played it for years. Blake had a strong believe in God, accepted Jesus as his Savior and shared those beliefs with others.

  His loving family includes his parents Nick and Janet of Wichita; brothers Braden Mayes and Braden’s wife Kacey of Wichita, and Blaise Mayes of Wichita; daughter Nevaeh Mayes and paternal grandmother JoAnn Putnam and husband Arden of Downs and many other relatives and friends.

Jerry Don Plett of Lincolnville died Monday at St. Luke Hospital in Marion on his 84th birthday.&nbsp; He was born April 27, 1936, to Dan and Rosella Plett of Lehigh.&nbsp; Jerry graduated from Lehigh Rural High School in 1954 and was led by his church traditions to be a conscientious objector regarding active military service.&nbsp; He served his country at the Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver from 1956 to 1957 as a subject of an experiment in dehydrated foods for service members in the field of battle.&nbsp;

After his discharge, he began a 64-year farming career around Lehigh and farmed at Lincolnville after 1964.&nbsp; Despite encountering health problems in September 2018 and undergoing hip replacement a year ago, he continued a Hereford cattle operation until his death.&nbsp; His wife, Rowena Lavonne Seibel, was a student at Tabor College when they met.&nbsp; They were married on June 11, 1966, at Garden Park Mennonite Brethren Church in Denver.&nbsp; They raised six children: Candace Krebs of Enid, OK, Dawn (Donnie) Hett of Marion, Angie (Matt) Ehlers of Superior, NE, Pam (Richard) Idleman of Herington, Jason (Amy) Plett of Lincolnville, and Josh (Renae) Plett of Hillsboro.&nbsp; He has 14 grandchildren: Sydney Idleman, Cole Ehlers, Morgan (Ehlers) Rugg, Lane Ehlers, Quinton Hett, Laura (Idleman) Hett, Jeremy Hett, Mekenzie Ehlers, Alli Hett, Jenaya Plett, Brogan Plett, Brady Idleman, Luke Idleman, and Landry Plett; five great-grandchildren: Camille, Sawyer, and Henry Rugg, Scarlett and Amory Jones-Idleman, and four on the way.&nbsp;

Jerry's greatest desire was that his children and grandchildren would have fulfilling marriage relationships.&nbsp; He taught them to appreciate the truly important things, and they held him in high esteem.&nbsp; In the eyes of his family, Jerry had a unique personality.&nbsp; He was a serious person who sought out wisdom and understanding and unpretentiously shared what he learned with family and in everyday contact with people.&nbsp; He lived conscientiously and set a high standard for himself in discipline, hard work, and honestly in dealings with others.&nbsp; His greatest regret was not living to see the fulfillment of the promise of a new world filled with truth and justice.&nbsp;

Jerry has three siblings Bob (Eileen) Plett of Reedley, CA, Joan Duerksen of Newton, and Carol (Bob Wright) Jantz of Highlands Park, CO.&nbsp; He is preceded in death by a brother in law Willis Duerksen.

Arnita R. (Price) Brown departed this earthly world on Saturday April 18, 2020 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Arnita was the eleventh child born to Surepty Jane (Johnson) Price and Fate Price Sr. on July 15, 1933 in San Augustine, TX. As a teenager Arnita loved basketball and it was at a basketball game that she met the man she would marry, Tellis Earl Brown. On September 1, 1949 Arnita was joined with Tellis in holy matrimony in San. Augustine, TX. To this union, five children were born, Shirley, Sharon, Sheila, Tellis Jr. and Earline.

In early 1950 Tellis and Arnita moved to Junction City, KS where they would raise their children. In Junction City, Arnita joined Second Baptist Missionary Church, where she served as a Deaconess and the church Treasurer for many years. Arnita was an inquisitive woman who valued education and loved to travel. Over the years, as a Deaconess, Arnita traveled the continental US representing her Church at various conventions and conferences. It was during these travels that Arnita was able to satisfy her inquisitive mind…though only for a time. Because of her love of education, Arnita pursued a college education; obtaining an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Administration from Brown-Mackie College in 1988. In addition on May 10, 1997 Arnita received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Bible-Management and Ethics from Manhattan Christian College. Arnita was a well-known fixture in Junction City and she was a resource to many residents. She was known to provide motherly advice to many and she would often offer suggestions on where to go and what to see. Arnita was known for greeting everyone with her beautiful smile and a hug, she never knew a stranger. She was a loving Mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren and an “adoptive” and “surrogate” mother and grandmother to a host of young women and men.

Arnita was a devoted wife for over five decades. Arnita was preceded in death by her parents, each of her siblings, her husband Tellis Earl Brown, one daughter Earline Brown and one son Tellis Earl Brown Jr.

Arnita leaves to mourn, three daughters Shirley Self (Frank) of Waxhaw, NC; Sharon Davis and Sheila Cox both of Junction City, KS; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren, one great- great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews; and a wide body of extended family. She will be greatly missed.

Burial will take place at Fort Riley Cemetery. It is the families wishes to have a Celebration of Life service possibly at a later date due to the current environment surrounding the coronavirus. Thank you for your understanding during this challenging time.

Arnita R. (Price) Brown departed this earthly world on Saturday April 18, 2020 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.Arnita was the eleventh child born to Surepty Jane (Johnson) Price and Fate Price Sr. on July 15, 1933 in San Augustine, TX. As a teenager Arnita loved basketball and it was at a basketball game that she met the man she would marry, Tellis Earl Brown. On September 1, 1949 Arnita was joined with Tellis in holy matrimony in San. Augustine, TX. To this union, five children were born, Shirley, Sharon, Sheila, Tellis Jr. and Earline.In early 1950 Tellis and Arnita moved to Junction City, KS where they would raise their children. In Junction City, Arnita joined Second Baptist Missionary Church, where she served as a Deaconess and the church Treasurer for many years. Arnita was an inquisitive woman who valued education and loved to travel. Over the years, as a Deaconess, Arnita traveled the continental US representing her Church at various conventions and conferences. It was during these travels that Arnita was able to satisfy her inquisitive mind…though only for a time. June O. Wiehl, of Junction City, KS, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of the 24th of April, 2020. She was in the care of her son, Hartley, who wrote the following poem about her shortly after her passing:

Forty-five minutes later, she began to yawn,

She said she wanted me to turn out the light,

So, I flattened her pillow and pulled the chain;

Thinking that tomorrow we'd do it all again.

For that was the last time I heard her speak,

Cuz, in the morning she was cold to the touch;

I knew I loved her, I just didn't know how much!!

June was born on the 3rd of June, 1921 to Theodore &amp; Bessie "Strong" Jensen. She was the 6th of 7 children and was raised on her parent's farm outside Kensington, in Smith County. She attended Norton Grade School, then went to Kensington High School, where she was the valedictorian of the class of 1938. She then, upon graduating from Brown-Mackey Business College in Salina, went to work for Capper Publications in Topeka. In 1941 she came to Junction City and started working for the Department of Defense at Fort Riley for 15 years. In order to be closer to her children, she then took a position in the John G. Willome Accounting Firm before returning to civil service as the supervisor of the Stanfins Section of the Finance and Accounting Office, at Fort Riley. She retired in 1981.

She married Raymond O. Boudrie on February 28, 1942 in Junction City. To this union one child was born, before the marriage ended in divorce. On the 1st of January, 1946, she married her high school sweetheart, Ralph S. Wiehl and they remained married until his death in October of 2008. There were four children born to this union.

June is survived by her loving family: two daughters Theodora "Boudrie" Brent-Gardner, of Phoenix, Arizona and Danette "Wiehl" Ford, of Algonquin, Illinois; two sons Dean Wiehl of Bixby, Oklahoma and Hartley Wiehl of the home. She leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her sister, Wauneta Robinson, of Beloit, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Terry, grandson Roger, and siblings Frieda Jensen, Lovella Myers, Harold Jensen, Birdie Thompson and Dulcye Haslett.

A memorial service will take place at a later date at the First Christian Church of Junction City. Johnson Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Mark Edward Gerard, 68, of Wamego, KS passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS.

On February 4, 1952 Mark was born to Donald and Helen (Gans) Gerard in Salina, KS.&nbsp; Mark graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He started his career working at Kansas Power and Light.&nbsp; In 1991, he moved on to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Bureau of Water, in Topeka, KS.&nbsp; Mark retired in 2011.&nbsp;

Mark was a faithful volunteer at the Wamego Animal Shelter for many years. He was also a supporter of many animal rights organizations.

He is survived by a brother, Guy Gerard, Miramar Beach, FL; and an aunt, Shirley Gans, McPherson, KS.&nbsp; He is preceded in death by his parents.

Mark will be interred at the Gypsum Hill Cemetery near Salina, KS at a later date.

Teddy Omar Hodges, age 97, died on Friday, April 24, 2020, at the Presbyterian Manor, in Salina, Kansas.

Ted was born on October 17, 1922, in Ravenna, Texas, to Omar and Effie (Jackson) Hodges. During the Depression, the family moved to a ranch in Mulberry, Texas. Ted grew up spending a lot of time outdoors, working hard, riding horses, swimming, fishing and hunting. If they didn’t go too fast, Ted and his brother Jack were allowed to drive a Model A Ford to their grade school. When their driving privileges were cut, they rode their horses instead, corralling them in the school’s barn. Ted graduated from high school in Bonham, Texas, and worked on the ranch until the start of World War II. Enlisting in the Army Air Corps with his brother and a friend, Ted ended up being stationed in Burma and India.

Back home in Texas after the war, on December 7, 1946, Ted met Nancy Lou Leslie. A seemingly chance encounter in the town square on a Saturday night, a flip of a coin and a movie date resulted in love and a proposal. The wedding took place in Bailey, Texas, at the First United Methodist Church on August 29, 1948. Ted was twenty-five. Nancy was seventeen. During their sixty-three years of marriage, Ted and Nancy lived in Texas, Iowa, Arkansas, Missouri, Michigan, Kansas and Egypt. They had three children, ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Ted missed Nancy greatly after her death in 2011.

Ted was thankful to have been able to benefit from the GI Bill to study engineering. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&amp;M, a master’s degree from Iowa State University, and a PhD from Michigan State University. Ted worked in the Engineering Department at Kansas State University, in Manhattan, Kansas, from 1959 to his retirement in 1989. Ted loved teaching. He was known for being a very formal professor, wearing a suit and tie to class every day. In addition to teaching agricultural and architectural engineering and construction science, Ted served as Associate Dean of Engineering.

During his very long life, Ted enjoyed spending time with family and friends, training his dogs, hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, gardening, doing yard work and being part of a church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, brother, sister and great-grandchild.

Survivors include his three children: Joe (Pam) Salina, KS; Mike (Judy) Mission Hills, KS; and Karen, Austin, TX; ten grandchildren: Bill, Steve, Sarah, Elizabeth, Hanna, Max, Alex, Ted, Leslie and Ben; eight spouses of grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Private family graveside services will be in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan with David Pape officiating.

Born on September 17, 1937 in Lebanon, to Mr. &amp; Mrs. Seddik Bechara and Marin Khayat. She lived in Lebanon until the civil war erupted in 1976 when she was forced to relocate with her family to Sao Paulo, Brazil. With profound faith and a good sense of humor, she adapted to the new language and culture. She was a busy homemaker, caring for her 5 children with great selflessness and unconditional love. Engine to the family alongside her husband, Victor, she always made sure that her family was always well fed both physically and spiritually. There were always delicious middle eastern treats to enjoy. She enjoyed cooking and was a meticulous craftswoman. She knitted hundreds of socks and vests for her relatives and even for people she did not know. Her ultimate desire to always be close to her children triggered her move to Manhattan, KS in 2008.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Victor S. Bedros, and her brother Rafael Bechara. She is survived by her children Fadia Bedros, Bassam Bedros, Mr. &amp; Mrs. Nabil Bedros, Mr. &amp; Mrs. Imad Bedros, and Dr. &amp; Mrs. Fadi Bedros, her seven grandchildren, Gregory, Joseph, Victor, Marilina, Rita, Victoria, and Christopher, many siblings, nieces, and nephews.

Myra Ann (Cooke) Pearson, age 79, passed away unexpectedly at her home on April 16, 2020, from complications related to lung cancer. She was born in 1941, in Denver, CO to Melville and Lettie (Gregory) Cooke, and was the youngest of 5 daughters.

Myra grew up in Denver and graduated from South High in 1959 and attended Colorado State University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She eventually got a job with United Airlines working in Reservations under a very handsome supervisor, who would turn out to be the love of her life- Bob Pearson! She and Bob were married in 1962 and soon had 2 children, Kimberly Ann and Eric Lee. They enjoyed many wonderful years raising their children in Aurora, CO, surrounded by wonderful friends, neighbors, and family close by.

In 1978 Myra and Bob and the family moved to Manhattan, KS where Bob joined his brother Terry in operating Kansas State Travel Agency. During those early years in Manhattan, Myra was Secretary for the Westloop Association and eventually began working reservations for the travel agency. Myra always treated her customers as friends and family- getting them safe and worry-free arrangements the best she could. Many of her co-workers and customers continued to remain very close to her heart. Both Bob and Myra finally retired from the travel agency in 2004 and enjoyed the rest of their years at home, spending time with each other and entertaining grandkids.

Myra will be fondly remembered for her constant smile and positive attitude, her witty sense of humor, and her strong and steady faith in God. The family rejoices in the fact that she is finally reunited with her husband, Bob, who died last year, and that she is finally healthy and at peace with her Lord.

Surviving family members include daughter Kim (Pearson) Robben - husband Doug and grandchildren Sean, Samantha, and Nicholas; son Eric Pearson- wife Lauri (Oppenheimer) and grandchildren Graham and Mary Hadley, and sister Betty Lou (Cooke) Cudworth of Lakewood, CO.

Both Bob and Myra finally retired from the travel agency in 2004 and enjoyed the rest of their years at home, spending time with each other and entertaining grandkids.Myra will be fondly remembered for her constant smile and positive attitude, her witty sense of humor, and her strong and steady faith in God. Robert "Isaac" Weixelman, age 39, 2020 died on February 22, 2020 in Manhattan, Kansas.

He was born in Colorado Springs, CO the son of Timothy S. &amp; Darleen (Ahlgren) Weixelman. Isaac had several jobs, but he enjoyed working at the sports memorabilia store in the Mall the most.

Private Graveside Services will be held at a future date in the Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan, Kansas.

Teresa Fay Mills of Marion, KS passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 after fighting 15 days from a massive brain bleed.

Teresa was born by Thurman and Louise Smith in Garden City, KS on March 19, 1953.

Throughout her life, Teresa grew up in Arizona, moved to Washington as a retired LPN and then moved to Marion, KS to be closer to family in 2018.

Teresa’s vivacious personality drew her to many enjoyments in life that included nature, hunting, her yorkie dogs, Billy and Bella, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Teresa was always known as the life of the party and found her calling as the Director of the Marion Historical Museum. Teresa would create craft workshops and history scavenger hunts for the children who would stop by the museum. She was honored to be welcomed into the Marion community and has left a footprint for those who miss her.

Go rest in peace, be free and see on you the other side of the rainbow.

Teresa is precede by death: Father (Thurman, Mother (Louise) and Sister (Janie, but survived by: Daughter Lisa (Dan) Elliott, Grandson Colby Elliott of Buhler, KS; Brother Ronnie Smith of Hillsboro, KS; Sister Barbara (Larry) Smith of Marion, KS; Sister Sharon (Vincent) Alfaro of Mesa, AZ; Sister Judy (Dennis) Kotterman of Show Low, AZ and many nieces and nephews.

Scott Eugene Karsting came into this world on July 11, 1952 in Hastings,
 NE the only son of Eugene (Gene) and Phyllis Karsting.  He went to 
heaven on April 22, 2020 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 
67 in Smyrna, TN.


	The first year he lived with his mom and grandpa and grandma 
Karsting while waiting to meet his dad who was serving in the Korean 
war.  He spent the next few years traveling with his parents while dad 
worked with the REA running the first electrical lines to rural farmers 
in South Dakota &amp; Nebraska.  Scott and his new sister Deb moved to 
Great Bend with his parents in 1956.  When he was 13, he moved to Smith 
Center, KS where he met many friends and graduated high school in 1970. 
 He went on an adventure and joined the US Air Force and received the 
rank of sergeant.  He was very proud to have served his country.


	His sister always laughed because her tough big brother loved to 
grow flowers and was always sending her pictures of them.  His great 
love was motorcycles.  He worked at Big Dog for many years with his best
 friend John Norton.  He joined a Christian motorcycle club, the cross 
Soldiers, and rode many events and enjoyed riding with many of his 
friends.  He loved his two dogs Charlie &amp; Chyna.  He was always 
bringing home strays when he was a kid.  He loved fishing and collected 
ancient shark teeth.  He was much loved.  His parents went to heaven 
before him in 2014 and 2016.


	He leaves behind his lifelong partner Cathy of LaVergne, TN. A 
daughter Nicole (Mike) Parks of Neenah, WI; sister Deb (Gary) Wagenblast
 of Smith Center, KS; nieces Stephanie (Rich) Schintler and Mindi (Todd)
 Searls; great niece Faith Schintler; great nephew Wyatt Searls; a host 
of family and friends.
