&nbsp;CSM (Ret) James B. "Jim" Mitchell, 83, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at his residence in Junction City, Kansas. 

A graveside service with full military honors and last call will take place 10 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2023 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Home. 

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are suggested to be given to The Greater Geary Community Foundation for the South Junction City Kiwanis Club, 922 Sunrise Hill Drive, Junction City, Kansas 66441 or to Friends of Geary County Rural Fire Department, 236 E. 8th Street, Junction City, Kansas 66441 Jim was born on October 25, 1939, in Harlan County, Kentucky the son of Charles Mitchell and Ruby Johnson. Jim served in the United States Army from 1956 until his retirement in 1986. During his thirty years of service, he served three tours in Korea, two tours in both Vietnam and Germany, and a total of nine years at Fort Riley with the 1st Infantry Division. Following his retirement from military service, Jim continued his career as a civil servant for seventeen years at Fort Riley. He was an active member of the South Junction City Kiwanis Club since 1986 and served as the President, Lt. Governor, and Master Instructor of the Kansas Kiwanis District. Jim was a volunteer member of the Geary County Rural Fire Department for over twenty three years.

He was also a member of the following organizations: Fort Riley Retirement Council, Kansas Armed Forces E-9 Association, National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) where served as past president, life member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion Post #45 in Junction City, Kansas. On October 2, 1990, he married Wally Gob in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Wally, of Junction City, Kansas; daughter, Kelly Mitchell of Copperas Cove, Texas; son, Patrick Miramontez and his wife Jane of Lenexa, Kansas; son, Mario Miramontez of Chapman, Kansas; six granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son James B. Mitchell, Jr.&nbsp;&nbsp;

CSM (retired) James B.  (Jim) Mitchell, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 as the result of a lawnmower accident. 

 Jim was a 23 plus year active volunteer with the Geary County Rural Fire Station and was assigned to Station 10 that covered the west side of Milford lake to include Laurel Canyon. 

 Jim, in addition to responding on fire calls, took pride and joy in making sure that Station 10 was clean and that Truck 110 was ready to respond on fire calls.

He was proud when earlier this month, there was an Open House at the new Station 10 and he was able to help show the station and the fire units off.

Visitation will be held on Thursday August 3rd from 5-7pm at the  Johnson Funeral Home located at 203 N. Washington in Junction City. 

 Graveside services along with the Last Call will be on Friday August 4th at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery located east of Ogden, Kansas at 10.00.

CSM(Ret) James B 'Jim' Mitchell

Jo Ann Royer passed away in her beloved Abilene, Kansas on July 25,2023. She was born January 1, 1940, in Elmira, New York, the third daughter of Lawrence and Helen (Ruff) Wilson. Jo attended the Horseheads, New York school system where she developed many close lifetime friendships with her classmates. She was a gifted singer and was invited soloist at many events. Always active, she was a high school cheerleader and frequent visitor, often with friends, to the family lakeside cottage at Watkins Glen, New York. After high school, Jo attended college, then chose to become a licensed cosmetologist and start raising a family. She became the proud mother of Kevin and Stacy and, early in their lives, relocated to Vine Street in Abilene. Her working years, in Abilene, saw her affiliated with the Etherington family real estate business, with both sales and office management duties, until her retirement from the work force. Jo also worked to create a home on Vine Street that was welcoming to those beyond her family. Friends and neighbors frequently visited to enjoy her hospitality, her cooking and baking, and her company. Her gardening skills provided a plant-filled backyard for both conversation and consumption. She also played host and caretaker to an uncounted number of cats who happened to find their way to her yard. Many of them chose to stay for years to enjoy her brushings, feedings and her loving companionship. Jo greeted thousands of costumed trick-or-treaters over the years as she passed out Twinkies, as part of her Vine Street tradition on Halloween night. In 1975 she and Robert H "Hank" Royer Jr. were married as he returned to Abilene with his newly minted law license. They had enjoyed a long dating relationship, but as a motivator, she declined to get married until he finished both college and law school and retired from his Topeka Police Department employment. Together they moved into their lifetime family home on Vine Street, with Kevin and Stacy. Providing for and helping both Kevin and Stacy grow to their potential then became her major focus. As finances permitted Jo ensured that each child had many growth and travel experiences. As Kevin and Stacy "left the nest" and began their college and life experiences, Jo and Hank continued to immerse themselves, usually as a team, in both local and distant activities. Travels took them to 48 states and more than 20 different countries, but Abilene was always her favorite place. Jo always worked to make life better for others. She spent decades as a member and officer of St John's Episcopal Church, in Abilene. She was an organizing member and 39-year volunteer and officer of the Abilene Hospice organization (now known as Hospice of Dickinson County). In 2004,the American Red Cross awarded her the "Clara Barton Humanitarian Award" in recognition of her many outreach achievements. In 2019, Jo contracted multiple lung infections. Lengthy antibiotic treatment controlled the infections, but her lung damage was permanent, and she required oxygen assistance for the balance of her life. This impediment only slowed her down a little bit, but did take additional international travel off the table. Family was always Jo's main love. Son, Kevin Dilmore, being based in Kansas City, with Hallmark, the past many years has allowed opportunities for regular get togethers. When Kevin's daughter, Colleen Rodriguez, and husband Guillermo, chose to move to Abilene in 2017 to both start their family and initiate their teaching careers, she was thrilled. As great-grandsons Lorenzo and Oliver joined their family, Jo was excited to be involved with their activities. Daughter, Stacy Royer Hoyt, and husband Adam,were first based in Arizona and then Overland Park, Kansas, before employment required their relocation, with grandson, Wilson McArthur Royer Hoyt to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2011. Wherever they lived Jo was always excited to travel and visit with them. She tried to attend many of Wilson's prep school activities in Tulsa. With his TCU college degree in hand, Wilson is now attending the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine in Oklahoma City. Jo was predeceased by her parents, sister Margaret and husband Jack Withiam and sister Anna Mae and husband Carl Gunshaw. She is survived by husband, Hank Royer, son Kevin Dilmore, daughter Stacy Royer Hoyt (Adam), grandaughter Colleen Rodriguez (Guillermo), grandson Wilson McArthur Royer Hoyt, great grandsons Lorenzo and Oliver Rodriguez, nephews Jim Withiam (Bev) and Jack Withiam Jr ( Lynda), and nieces Roberta Medema (Lee), Karen Tomkins (Ivan) and Carol Scott (Jim), and their families. Maddy, Smokey, Bandit and Chase, her loving cat companions also survive her.. Jo chose to be cremated, and rather than having a traditional funeral, she wished to invite family friends to stop into the Abilene Elks Club, at a to be determined future date and time,to visit and reminisce. Ethel Darlene (Jackson) Kahle, 88, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away at her home on Friday, July 21, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born to Pearl and Laura Jackson on November 19, 1934, in Emporia, Kansas area.&nbsp; Ethel graduated from Eskridge High School in 1952. Ethel and her family moved to Alta Vista, Kansas, after Red left the Army. She was a devoted farm wife and mother until moving to Manhattan in 1977. For the rest of her working years before retirement, she was the best lunch lady in the land for USD 383 at several schools, including Manhattan High School, where her grandchildren were fortunate enough to be fed and loved by her during their high school years. &nbsp; Ethel was married to Ivor (Red) Lee Kahle on December 30, 1951. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her daughter Phyllis (Kim) Padgett of Manhattan, Larry (Helen) Kahle of Manhattan, his Grandchildren, Stephanie (Brian) Kabriel, Ryan Padgett, Kendra Cowell, Chase (Corinne) Kahle, Chance, and Ashton Kahle, her Great Grandchildren Kaylee Kabriel, Maci Cowell, and Leon Kahle and a brother, Joe (Julia) Jackson, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ethel was predeceased by her parents, Pearl and Laura Jackson, an infant brother; her sister, Bonnie Cook; and her son, Scott Kahle. We take comfort in knowing that they were at the gates of Heaven awaiting her arrival. Ethel was a loving and caring friend, mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always on the move, sometimes a little stubborn, and not afraid to speak her mind. Ethel and Red loved traveling together and traveled with both their friends, children, and grandchildren across the United States. Sharing new places and life experiences with their family and friends was something they enjoyed doing together. Dining out and enjoying a good buffet couldn’t be beaten either—especially in the days of Sirloin Stockade or the recent days of Golden Corral. Fond memories include her cooking great family meals, playing card games and Dominoes with as many people as she could gather around the table, and finding the best garage sales on Saturday morning. Her graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 11:00 am, at the Prairie View Cemetery, 14979 Germany Rd, Alta Vista, Kansas. The family requests that donations be made in Ethel’s name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105. Ralph Leggs beloved husband, son, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2023, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS. Born on August 16, 1931, in Clearfield, PA, Ralph led a remarkable life filled with bravery, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his country and family. At the age of 18, Ralph joined the U.S. Army, embarking on a journey that would define the course of his life. He valiantly fought in both the Korean War and the Vietnam Wars, demonstrating his courage and resilience on the battlefield. Early in his military career, he served in the 2nd Ranger Company, attached to the 7th Infantry Division, which was the first and only volunteer, segregated, black Airborne Ranger unit commanded by black officers, which served with distinction in the Korean War from 6 October 1950 until 1 August 1951. Throughout his military career, Ralph's dedication and service to his country earned him numerous accolades, including the Purple Heart, the Unsung Hero Award and the Quilt of Valor, symbolizing his bravery and sacrifices. After retiring from the Army at Fort Riley in 1969, Ralph continued his service to the nation by working for the Federal Civil Service for an additional two decades. Ralph's love for his family was immeasurable. He will be deeply missed by his children: Annette Leggs Maggio and her husband Joe Maggio, Michael Leggs and his wife Joy Nisell, Mitchell Leggs and his wife Safak Paker-Leggs, Daniel Leggs, and his wife Sang Leggs. Ralph's legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Eva Leggs, Isaac Throckmorton Leggs, Julian Throckmorton Leggs, Jayden Leggs, and Jayson Leggs. Ralph is survived by his wife, Chong Leggs whose love and devotion remained a steady force, providing him with strength, comfort, and peace during his final days. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joung Sun Chay, his mother Frances Lyda, and his father Ralph Leggs Sr. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Jonathan Leggs, William Leggs, and Charles Leggs; and three sisters, Shirley Davenport, Willa Mae Keith Scoggins, Anna E. Jones. His memories and spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. May Ralph rest in peace, knowing that his life has touched countless hearts and inspired many to follow in his footsteps of bravery, love, and service. A memorial service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, Friday, July 28, 2023, from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery with full military honors.

Ralph's legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Eva Leggs, Isaac Throckmorton Leggs, Julian Throckmorton Leggs, Jayden Leggs, and Jayson Leggs. Ralph is survived by his wife, Chong Leggs whose love and devotion remained a steady force, providing him with strength, comfort, and peace during his final days. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joung Sun Chay, his mother Frances Lyda, and his father Ralph Leggs Sr. He was also preceded in death by his three brothers, Jonathan Leggs, William Leggs, and Charles Leggs; and three sisters, Shirley Davenport, Willa Mae Keith Scoggins, Anna E. Jones. His memories and spirit will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. May Ralph rest in peace, knowing that his life has touched countless hearts and inspired many to follow in his footsteps of bravery, love, and service. A memorial service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home, Friday, July 28, 2023, from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery with full military honors.

A graveside with full military honors will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023 at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. On July 12th the good Lord decided you needed to rest, so he called you home. As for your family we are very saddened by this, but you are up in Heaven resting. Mac, Grampa Mac as he was called, was born on March 1st 1943. His parents were Janette K. and George J. McNamara. He married Aurie and they later divorced. They had two sons, Carl and Patrick. In 1986 he married Miss Jo, as she was known to all in Milford. They had a small farm and enjoyed raising beef cattle together along with taking care of many acres of land , raking, baling hay and going to the sale barn together. He is survived by his two sons, Carl (Kristine) and Patrick both of Colorado, his two grandchildren from Carl and Kristine, Dylan and Peyton. He is also survived by the kids he gained in his marriage to Miss Jo - Sandra (Wayne) Tamashiro, Sheila (Jim) Hanson, Yvonne (Andrew) Snider, Robert (Mynda) Peters, Kelly Peters. As well as grandchildren Travis Tamashiro, Brenda (Emar) Diggs, Scott (Megan) Diggs, Timothy (Leann) Diggs, Justin (Desiree) Diggs, Matthew (Sara) Peters, Rebecca Peters, Lauren Peters, Emma Iacovella, Jacob (Liz) Snider, Jared (Izzy) Snider, Garrett (Tara) DeVoe, Chivaughnne (Charlie) Zorc. Marvin Yarrow, 91 died July 20, 2023, in Clay Center, KS. &nbsp;He was born on December 24, 1931, in Clay County, the son of Frank and Mary (Fowles) Yarrow. &nbsp;Marvin was raised in rural Clay County. &nbsp;He was a Class of 1949 graduate of Clay Center High School. &nbsp;Marvin married Darlene Keen on September 22, 1954.&nbsp; They made their home in Clay County where Marvin was a lifelong farmer and rancher. &nbsp;He loved raising animals and crops. &nbsp;Marvin was a member of the Clay Center Wesleyan Church. &nbsp;In his free time, Marvin enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and reading the bible. &nbsp;Darlene preceded him in death on September 12, 2020. &nbsp;He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Julia Adams and Letha Lloyd.

Arlyss J. Alexander, 85, of Clay Center, died on Monday, July 17, 2023 at the Clay County Medical Center. &nbsp;She was born on May 20, 1938 in Wheaton, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Vivian (Adams) Harrington.&nbsp;

Arlyss grew up in Wheaton, graduating from Wheaton High School in 1956, where she played basketball and once scored 50 points in a game, which was still the school record when it closed. &nbsp;She attended Clark’s Business School in Topeka and worked as a secretary at the Kansas Corporation Commission until she married Harold Alexander on March 4, 1973. &nbsp;The couple then farmed south of Green, Kansas. &nbsp;Harold preceded her in death on May 1, 2013. &nbsp;Arlyss was a member of the Green United Methodist Church and H.E.U. &nbsp;She enjoyed bowling and was an avid card player. &nbsp;Arlyss was socially active in the Green and Clay Center communities. &nbsp; She is also preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Dennis and Ronnie Harrington and 1 sister, Freda Chabira.

She is survived by her daughters, Audrey and husband, Paul Williams of Owasso, Oklahoma, Angie and husband, Justin Gilpin of Emporia, Kansas and Amy and husband, Brian Mellies of Phillips, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren and sister, Glenda Brunkow of Greely, Colorado.

Arlyss J. Alexander

Helen Evelyn (Asp) Heimerich, age 91, of Clay Center, KS died July 9, 2023, in Machias, ME, in the home of her daughter, Shelley Otto.

Helen was born April 23, 1932, in Hayward, WI. She was one of 11 children born to Elmer and Mary Asp. Helen grew up in Hayward and graduated from Hayward High School with the Class of 1951.

Helen moved to Kansas and later attended Newman School of Nursing, where she received her degree in 1962. &nbsp;She then returned to Clay Center, where she began working at Clay County Hospital as a Registered Nurse. &nbsp;She married Glen Heimerich on April 27, 1963, and together they raised three children: Shelley, Duane, and Pamela, on the family farm.&nbsp;

Helen worked at the Clay Center hospital for 35 years, she retired from the hospital in 1997. &nbsp;She kept herself busy after retirement by attending auctions and going antiquing but primarily enjoying her favorite activity, time spent with her grandchildren and her friends. Her last few years were spent in Maine, exploring a new area of the country and getting better acquainted with some of her grandchildren. She enjoyed all the scenic drives, high school sporting events, and making new friends.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen, seven brothers Gilbert, Wendell, Orville, Ted, Leonard, Irvin, and Roger; one sister Dorothy Asp; and four sisters-in-law Lois, Pat, Doris and Jeanette.

She is survived by her daughter, Shelley (William) Otto of Machias, ME, son, Duane Heimerich of Clay Center, KS, and daughter, Pamela (Tom) Farr. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sheldon Otto, Kalyn (Devonte) Stevens, Sarah Otto, Erin Otto, Andrew Heimerich, Kylie (Larry) Smith, and great granddaughters Avery and Kaelyn Smith, her sister Mildred Asp, brother Duane Asp, and sister-in-law Kathryn Asp. There are many other relatives and friends left behind, too numerous to list. &nbsp;

Services will be held Saturday, July 29 at 10 a.m. at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, KS.&nbsp;

Helen Evelyn (Asp) Heimerich

Fredrica V. “Freddie” Everett, age 88, of Manhattan, arrived at Heaven’s gate, May 5, 2023, at Stoneybrook Retirement Community in Manhattan. St. Peter is still double checking the arrivals list.

She was born October 3, 1934, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Ferdinand Voiland, Jr. and Cleta G. (Johnson) Voiland. Both were instrumental in nurturing her love of music and wit.

Freddie graduated from Topeka High School in 1952, and then attended the University of Kansas where she wanted to pledge Pi Beta Phi but her mother insisted that she be a Gamma Phi Beta. Being a legacy has its downfalls too. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education in 1956. She was recognized for her scholastic achievements by the Mu Phi Epsilon Honorary Music Sorority.

Upon graduation, she married and fulfilled her life’s dream of having 6 kids. She instilled a strong work ethic to start each day at the crack of dawn either doing laps at the natatorium, delivering papers for The Mercury, or practicing piano. And if one of her children hit a wrong note, she would be sure to yell out “F sharp” from two rooms away in the kitchen. Mom always had a close eye on her kids.

When she found time to relax, she enjoyed playing bridge, puzzles, board games, and singing around the piano.

She taught music at Seven Dolors Grade School and Msgr. Luckey High School for several years prior to working for USD # 383 for 25 years.

Freddie was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. But as she got older, she was more likely to spend her Sundays getting ornery with patrons at The Chef, her favorite breakfast joint that served her favorite food: a sliced-up crab cake Bennie. She was also involved in the community with the DE chapter of P.E.O.

She was preceded in death by one daughter Kimberly Brinton Everett, one sister Marimae McDonald, and one daughter-in-law Amy Everett.

St. Peter is still double checking the arrivals list.She was born October 3, 1934, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Ferdinand Voiland, Jr. and Cleta G. (Johnson) Voiland. Both were instrumental in nurturing her love of music and wit.Freddie graduated from Topeka High School in 1952, and then attended the University of Kansas where she wanted to pledge Pi Beta Phi but her mother insisted that she be a Gamma Phi Beta. Being a legacy has its downfalls too. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education in 1956. She was recognized for her scholastic achievements by the Mu Phi Epsilon Honorary Music Sorority.Upon graduation, she married and fulfilled her life’s dream of having 6 kids. She instilled a strong work ethic to start each day at the crack of dawn either doing laps at the natatorium, delivering papers for The Mercury, or practicing piano. And if one of her children hit a wrong note, she would be sure to yell out “F sharp” from two rooms away in the kitchen. Mom always had a close eye on her kids.When she found time to relax, she enjoyed playing bridge, puzzles, board games, and singing around the piano.She taught music at Seven Dolors Grade School and Msgr. Luckey High School for several years prior to working for USD # 383 for 25 years.Freddie was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. But as she got older, she was more likely to spend her Sundays getting ornery with patrons at The Chef, her favorite breakfast joint that served her favorite food: a sliced-up crab cake Bennie. Fredrica V. “Freddie” Everett

Roger A. Sink was born January 29, 1936 on his family farm in Esbon, Kansas. He was the only child of Emit and Neva (Black) Sink. Roger died July 23, 2023, in Manhattan.

The firm Sink, Gordon &amp; Associates LLP, Public Accountants, is the oldest and largest accounting firm in Manhattan, Kansas. The firm was originally founded in 1946 by Dale S. Van Valkenburgh. Roger went to work for the firm following his freshman year at Kansas State University on a part-time basis and then joined the firm upon graduation in 1958, after earning his bachelor’s in Business Administration. Roger has been with the firm for 65 years.

Roger has proven that corporate longevity symbolizes strength and security in an unpredictable marketplace. His company strives to exceed client expectations by combining traditional skills with the latest technology to deliver solutions.

He was a managing partner and works with clients in general taxation, management services and planning, client relations, business management services, estate tax planning and financial planning. He was a member of the National Society of Accountants and the Public Accountants Association of Kansas, of which he was a past president. He served as director of the board of the National Society of Public Accountants. Roger was inducted into the Accounting Hall of Fame in 2001.

Roger’s success is largely dependent upon his lifelong partnership with his wife, Connie. Together, they have forged a legacy that reflects their Midwestern roots. They have raised their children, Alan and Cindy, to be caring and contributing members of their communities. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his granddaughter Lisa and her husband Brady Kells.

Roger has a long history of giving back to the Manhattan community. His many areas of service included the Manhattan Airport Advisory Board, the Kansas Wildscape Foundation Board of Directors, and the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a past chair and member of the board of KS State Bank, board of trustee of the Master Teacher Institute for the Arts, trustee of the Greater Manhattan Community Foundation, and member of the K-State Endowment Association. He was also a Pizza Hut franchisee in North and South Carolina.

For K-State, Roger had served on the Mike Ahearn Scholarship Fund Board, the K-State Intercollegiate Council, and he and Connie are members of the KSU Foundation Board of Trustees. He was also a member of the K-State President’s Club and the Land Grant Legacy Society.

Roger was smart, hard-working, and set high standards of excellence for himself, his business, and his endeavors. He had a gift for achieving and exceeding established goals.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 27th, at the First United Methodist Church, 612 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502. Private family interment will be in the Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 P.M. Thursday in the Connecting Link at the church.

Roger A. Sink

Robert E. "Bob" Summers,&nbsp;94, passed away on July 13, 2023. He was born October 29, 1928 to Ralph J. and Ida Jane (Walker) Summers in Manhattan, Kansas. He married Elaine Farrell in Wamego on April 19, 1952.

Bob grew up on a farm east of Manhattan riding his horse “Bird” to the local school house, Swamp Angel. He attended school in St. George and Manhattan before enlisting in the Army Air Corps (later the US Air Force). As a child he traded in his violin for a guitar (much to his mother’s dismay). His music and singing were enjoyed around the barracks and then later around campfires, usually with his children at his feet clamoring for their favorite songs. After ranching in both Kansas and Colorado he began a long career as an over-the-road truck driver hauling everything from cattle to cars to chemicals. He received many awards for safe driving over millions of miles across the continental United States.

Bob and Elaine with their family spent many vacations camping in the mountains in Colorado, South Dakota, and Wyoming. After retirement he still enjoyed driving, spending many Sunday afternoons exploring the Flint Hills, and with an almost uncanny ability, spotting wildlife that most others would miss. He was a voracious reader and enjoyed increasing his knowledge of wildlife, airplanes and snakes, then going to bed with an old western book.

Bob is survived by children Kathleen “Kathy” Whitcomb (Ron) of Colorado Springs, Lynn Summers of Lawrence, Robert G. “Greg” Summers (Susie McConkey) of Overland Park, Sonja Summers of Berthoud CO, Everett “Bryan” of Manhattan, and Colleen Summers (Paul May) of Princeton, KS. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one sister Dorothy (Dottie) Lufburrow of Manhattan.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Elaine Farrell Summers, and one great-grandson, Ash Guiles.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:00 until 7:30p.m. Thursday July 27, 2023 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday July 28, 2023 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel in Manhattan. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery.

Robert E. "Bob" Summers

Mary “Kathy” Katherine Murdock, age 76, of Manhattan, passed away on July 10, 2023 with her husband of 55 years, Jon, and her two sons by her side.

She was born in Norman, Oklahoma as Mary Katherine Kuhlman, the daughter of John Henry and Inez Kuhlman.

She graduated from Norman High School in 1964, and the University of Oklahoma in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. She is a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.

She met her husband, Jon, on a snow day in 1960 while in high school and they married June 8, 1968 while she was attending college. In 1982, they moved to Manhattan, KS to take over Brewer Chevrolet Cadillac on Poyntz Avenue. She was very active as Scout den mother and a member of PEO. Her love of animals helped in establishing Sunset Zoological Park and Conservation Trust and the Red Panda exhibit at Sunset Zoo.

She loved traveling all over the world, spending winters in Scottsdale, AZ, enjoying everything and everyone, making new friends, and her mahjong partners.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend to all those around her. She is survived by her husband Jon, sons Kyle (Sharon) and Kevin (Jenny), and grandchildren, Ben, Josh, Andy and Katelynn, her brother John Henry Kuhlman IV (Dortha), and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at University Christian Church, 2800 Claflin Road in Manhattan on Monday, August 7, 2023 with visitation at 12:30pm and service at 2pm, a reception will follow. Interment will be in Oklahoma at a later date.

Mary “Kathy” Katherine Murdock

Ethel Darlene (Jackson) Kahle, 88, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away at her home on Friday, July 21, 2023, surrounded by her family.

She was born to Pearl and Laura Jackson on November 19, 1934, in Emporia, Kansas area. Ethel graduated from Eskridge High School in 1952.

Ethel and her family moved to Alta Vista, Kansas, after Red left the Army. She was a devoted farm wife and mother until moving to Manhattan in 1977. For the rest of her working years before retirement, she was the best lunch lady in the land for USD 383 at several schools, including Manhattan High School, where her grandchildren were fortunate enough to be fed and loved by her during their high school years.

Ethel was married to Ivor (Red) Lee Kahle on December 30, 1951. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her daughter Phyllis (Kim) Padgett of Manhattan, Larry (Helen) Kahle of Manhattan, his Grandchildren, Stephanie (Brian) Kabriel, Ryan Padgett, Kendra Cowell, Chase (Corinne) Kahle, Chance and Ashton Kahle, her Great Grandchildren Kaylee Kabriel, Maci Cowell, and Leon Kahle and a brother, Joe (Julia) Jackson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ethel was predeceased by her parents, Pearl and Laura Jackson, an infant brother,&nbsp; her sister, Bonnie Cook, and her son, Scott Kahle. We take comfort in knowing that they were at the gates of Heaven awaiting her arrival.

Ethel was a loving and caring friend, mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was always on the move, sometimes a little stubborn, and not afraid to speak her mind. Ethel and Red loved traveling together and traveled with both their friends, children, and grandchildren across the United States. Sharing new places and life experiences with their family and friends was something they enjoyed doing together. Dining out and enjoying a good buffet couldn’t be beat either—especially in the days of Sirloin Stockade or the recent days of Golden Corral. Fond memories include her cooking great family meals, playing card games and Dominoes with as many people as she could gather around the table, and finding the best garage sales on Saturday morning.

Her graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Prairie View Cemetery, 14979 Germany Rd, Alta Vista, Kansas. The family requests that donations be made in Ethel’s name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.

John Glen Pride, 77, of Manhattan, passed away Tuesday, July 18th, 2023 after a long illness. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. John was the service manager for more than 50 years at Countryside Mobile Homes and later Countryside Parks in Manhattan. John was also "2022 Man of the Year for the Kansas Manufactured Housing Association”

John and his twin brother Jim were born in Barstow, California on September 22, 1945, to the late Gerald Edgar and Lila Marie (Munson) Pride. He was a 1963 graduate of St. George High School. On May 29, 1965 he was united in marriage to Janice Fay Swart at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Manhattan. John and Janice are members of Westview Community Church where John served in the infant nursery for many years.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by a daughter, Angie Barnett, of Independence, Missouri; two sons Jeremy (Tonya) Pride, of Olathe; Nathan (Jessica) Pride, of Bumpass, Virginia; brothers Richard (Alice) Pride, Jim (Janet) Pride, Joe (Penny) Pride, two sisters Gerry (Raymond) Fink, and Lila Mae Pride. As well as six grandchildren Kayala, Becky, Calvin, Kimmie Barnett and Mason and Noah Pride and four great grandkids.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 25th at Westview Community Church in Manhattan, KS with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, July 24th, from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM at the funeral home.

John’s warm personality and friendly demeanor made him a cherished friend to many. He had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved in his presence. His genuine interest in people and their stories created lasting connections that enriched the lives of those who knew him.

 </figure>John Glen Pride, 77, of Manhattan, passed away Tuesday, July 18th, 2023 after a long illness. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. John was the service manager for more than 50 years at Countryside Mobile Homes and later Countryside Parks in Manhattan. John was also "2022 Man of the Year for the Kansas Manufactured Housing Association”John and his twin brother Jim were born in Barstow, California on September 22, 1945, to the late Gerald Edgar and Lila Marie (Munson) Pride. He was a 1963 graduate of St. George High School. On May 29, 1965 he was united in marriage to Janice Fay Swart at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Manhattan. John and Janice are members of Westview Community Church where John served in the infant nursery for many years.In addition to his wife, John is survived by a daughter, Angie Barnett, of Independence, Missouri; two sons Jeremy (Tonya) Pride, of Olathe; Nathan (Jessica) Pride, of Bumpass, Virginia; brothers Richard (Alice) Pride, Jim (Janet) Pride, Joe (Penny) Pride, two sisters Gerry (Raymond) Fink, and Lila Mae Pride. As well as six grandchildren Kayala, Becky, Calvin, Kimmie Barnett and Mason and Noah Pride and four great grandkids.A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 25th at Westview Community Church in Manhattan, KS with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, July 24th, from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM at the funeral home.John’s warm personality and friendly demeanor made him a cherished friend to many. He had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved in his presence. Claude Calvin Borger Jr., 75, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday (July 18, 2023) at his home in Wamego.

Born October 19, 1947 in Walnutport, Pennsylvania, Junior was the son of Claude Calvin and Naomi (Strausser) Borger Sr. &nbsp;He married Sandra K. Kobiskie on January 10, 1970 in Wamego, Kansas. &nbsp;She survives.

Mr. Borger served his country in the U. S. Army.

Junior enjoyed watching T.V., hunting and fishing and had a special place in his heart for animals. He loved spending time with his family.

Junior was employed at Steel &amp; Pipe for 39 years, retiring as a supervisor in 2009.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy; two sons, Keith Borger of Roeland Park, KS and Jonathan Borger (Lisa) of Berryton, KS; four grandchildren, Bradley Borger (Taylor); Tabitha Gilbreth, Chelsea Green (Chris) and Holden Green; five great grandchildren, Makayla Holloway, Alexis Holloway, Kingstyn Holloway, Ava Nelson and Amaya Nelson and a great grandchild due in just a couple of weeks. &nbsp;Also surviving are three sisters, Marietta Love (Arling) of Lehighton, PA, Sharon Ross (Charles) of Weissport, PA and Brenda Borger (Theresa) of Allentown, PA; two brothers, Melvin Borger (Linda) and Ray Borger (Sue) both of Whitehall, PA; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents.

Ronald Hal Stuewe, 81, of Alma, Kansas, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, following a battle with Pancreatic cancer. &nbsp;He was a long-time resident of the community.

Ron was born March 21, 1942, in Los Angeles, California, the son of Robert and Joan (Whittenburg) Stuewe. &nbsp;He graduated in 1960 from Alma High School. &nbsp;Ron then served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Lexington as a Boatswain’s Mate, a position known as the “heart of every ship”.

After his time in the military, Ron married Patricia Ann Guth on November 30, 1963, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Alma. After over fifty-nine years together, Patty survives at their home.

Ron retired from Goodyear Tire &amp; Rubber Company in Topeka in 2001 after working there for 35 years. &nbsp;He built tires for earth movers and radial trucks and was also a Union Steward for the Local Rubber Workers Union. &nbsp;There was no question that Ron was a dedicated and hardworking man. &nbsp;He enjoyed the outdoors and doing things like camping, cutting wood, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking and scuba diving. &nbsp;He was an avid bird watcher and especially loved his purple Martins. &nbsp;He kept busy taking care of his beautiful flowers, garden and lawn. &nbsp;Ron also loved traveling, old cars and music, especially the older top 40’s hits. &nbsp;He enjoyed playing cards and games and was a big K-State fan.

Ron is survived by his three sons, Curtis Stuewe (Sherely), San Diego, California, Mike Stuewe, Alma, and Craig Stuewe (Debra), Andover; his two grandsons, Alex Stuewe (Sarah), Wichita and Braden Stuewe, Manhattan; and his sister, Bobbie Jo Alberty, Claremore, Oklahoma. &nbsp;Ron was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Robin Dieter, and brothers-in-law, Bill Alberty and Steve Dieter.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Alma, Kansas. &nbsp;Father Mike Peterson will be officiating. &nbsp;The family will greet friends on Thursday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the church hall. &nbsp;They suggest memorial contributions to Holy Family Catholic Church, The American Legion, or Elara Hospice, and those may be sent in care of Campanella and Stewart Funeral Home.

Gary “Gabe” George Shandy, 85, Milford, Kan., passed away on July 9, 2023, in his home. He was born December 15, 1937, in Milford to George Payne and Dorothy Emily (Moyer) Shandy. The third of four children, he grew up in the “old town” of Milford, and he often recalled fond memories and stories of his childhood adventures with his friends and siblings. He graduated from Milford High School in 1957. He married Loretta Joy Luthi on September 29, 1962. Together they started a lifelong journey filled with love, friendship, and partnership.

Gary’s strong work ethic was evident early on. Starting as a young child, he regularly joined his father on fuel and oil deliveries to businesses, residences, and farms throughout Geary and Clay counties. After returning from Kansas National Guard training, he purchased and operated his father’s business, G. Shandy Oil Company, on through the mid-1970s. Gary started farming when he was 12 and continued farming in Geary, Clay, Dickinson, and Riley counties throughout his life. Farming was not just a job but his calling in life. He was proud that through his efforts, he helped feed the world.

Besides being a successful farmer, Gary schooled himself for most challenges he encountered throughout life. He moved houses when Milford Lake was being built, fixed his own farm equipment and vehicles, mastered HVAC and electrical systems, welded anything from hay trailers to wonderful sleds for his children, and was an accomplished finish carpenter, to name just a few of his many skills. A true Jack of all trades and master of many, he was the go-to man for helping others -- whether it was something fixed or welded, the use of a tool, his shop, or a piece of equipment, a tractor-tow off the beach, removal of snow from Milford streets so people could get to work, the literal coat off his back, or the gift of a few dollars. Gary never knew a stranger, and he enjoyed sharing his knowledge, pleasant greetings, and lively banter. He loved to make people laugh and smile. The local coffee shop and the campground were favorite places to meet new people and catch up with old friends.

Although he never considered himself retired, Gary and Joy enjoyed taking car trips, seeing the nation to all four corners. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren. He was thrilled to see four of them graduate this year.

Gary was a lifelong member and former deacon of the Milford Congregational Church, a member of the Milford City Council for eight years, mayor of Milford for four years, and a long-serving volunteer of the Milford Fire Department.

He leaves behind his loving wife and partner of nearly 61 years, Loretta Joy; his daughter Peggy Shandy Lane and husband, Winter, of Olathe, Kan.; daughter Dr. Dianna Shandy and husband Dr. David Power, of St. Paul, Minn.; son Gregory Shandy of Milford, and his beloved grandchildren Rhetta and Oran Power, Merritt Lane, and Kailee and Tabitha Wallace. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, lifelong friends, and his cats, Buddy and Norman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Kenneth (his first wife Iris Farlow and second wife Leona Kidd Hanson), and Ronald (BettyGene White), and sister Joan Martin (Bill), niece Annette Shandy Hardman, nephew Kyle Martin, and great-niece Rachel Shandy.

Visitation will be Friday, July 14, 2023, from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kan.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 15, 2023, 10:30 a.m. at Wakefield United Methodist Church with Pastor Dirk Westerman officiating. Following the service, burial will be held at the Milford Cemetery, with a luncheon back at the Methodist Church.

Charles Ray “C. R.” Patrick, 46, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Monday (July 3, 2023) at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

Born March 17, 1977 in Vincennes, Indiana, C. R. was the son of Steven Wayne and Pamela Raye Stiemel Patrick. &nbsp;He married Lee Ann Roe on July 4, 2001 in Korea. &nbsp;She survives.

An outdoor enthusiast, C. R. enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter of all types of fowl, especially duck hunting. &nbsp;He also enjoyed gaming, spending time with his friends on his X Box. &nbsp;C. R. and Lee Ann loved traveling the world together.

C. R. served his country for 22 years in the U. S. Army, retiring as a First Sergeant. &nbsp;During his career, he had deployments in Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Survivors include his wife, Lee Ann; two children, Sean Patrick of Wamego and Kianna McGregor (Tristan) of Littleton, CO; his mother, Pamela Raye Patrick of Washington, IN; two sisters in law, Libra Houser of Marysville, WA and Carla Melindez (Lino) of Waco, TX; several nephews; and his beloved service dog, Stevie.

&nbsp;C. R. was preceded in death by his father, Steven Wayne; and his niece, Elizabeth Houser.

Memorial services will be held Monday afternoon (July 24, 2023) at 1:30 p.m. at Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Military Honors will be performed by the U. S. Army Funeral Honors Detail and the Wamego American Legion Post No. 172 following the services at the funeral home.

Donald Joseph “Pops” Meister, age 74 of Blue Rapids, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on December 3, 1948 in El Cerrito, California, the son of Edward Joseph and Mary Eileen (Sullivan) Meister.

He married Virginia Hughes in 1978.&nbsp; She preceded him in death in 2005.

Pops served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and worked as a Pressman for the San Francisco Chronicle.&nbsp; He was a member of the E.C.V. and Hogs (Harley Davidson) and enjoyed riding his motorcycle and shooting pool.&nbsp; He loved spending time with his grandkids.

He is survived by two daughters, Bethena Marcotte of Blue Rapids and Cinde Earnest (Ken) of Red Bluff, California; one sister, Maureen Rosser of Kingman, Arizona; six grandchildren, Rick Seleska, Bob Seleska (Kim), Chris Lewis (Ashley), Kelly Hugart, Patty Hugart and Becky Hugart; many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Meister.

Cremation is planned with a Celebration of Life service to be held at a later date.

Donald Joseph “Pops” Meister

Thomas William Skinner, 90, died Friday July 7, 2023, at Meadowlark Hills in Manhattan, Kansas where he has been residing since 2021.

He was born January 14, 1933, in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Joseph William Skinner and Marjorie (Fisher) Skinner. &nbsp;He graduated from Manhattan High School (1951), Kansas State University (1955) and Chevrolet Dealer-Son School (1959).

He married Susan Rose Skinner July 27, 1954. &nbsp;They met the first day of freshman orientation at KSU and went on to celebrate 50 years of marriage prior to her death (2005). While she remained the love of his life, he was blessed to again find love with Neva Anderson with whom he enjoyed 12 years of companionship. &nbsp;

Following graduation from K-State he served as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force (1955-1957) in Little Rock, Arkansas and in the United States Air Force Reserves at Forbes Airforce Base in Topeka, Kansas until 1965. &nbsp;

He was a long-time prominent Clay Center businessman and community leader. &nbsp;He began learning the automotive business as a teenager when he pumped gas and cleaned cars for Brewer Motor Company in Manhattan Kansas (1949-1951). &nbsp;He joined his father in Skinner Motor Company, following the purchase of the Chevrolet franchise in Clay Center (1952). &nbsp;Upon fulfilling his military obligation, he returned to Clay Center to rejoin his father as a full-time salesman and later became President (1969). &nbsp;Skinner Motors served the community for 66 years. He founded the Clay Center New Car Dealers Association, represented the Kansas Dealers Action Council on Chevrolet’s Dealer Council (1970-1979). &nbsp;He was appointed by Governor Robert Bennett to the Dealer Licensing Board serving as Chairman (1977-1980). &nbsp;He was president of the Rocky Mountain Midwest Chevrolet Dealers Group and the Kansas Motor Car Dealers Association (1981-1982), and a National Automobile Dealers Association member. He received the Chevrolet Quality Salesman Award (1963). &nbsp;In 1983 he was recognized as the Kansas Quality Dealer of the Year and went on to be one of 62 dealers nationwide to receive Time Magazine’s Quality Dealer Award recognizing outstanding new car dealers in America. He was appointed by Attorney General Robert Stephen to the AutoCap Board to review dealer complaints (1983-85). &nbsp;Governor Mike Hayden appointed him Director of Motor Vehicles in the Kansas Department of Revenue (1987-1991).

He was president of the of the Clay Center Chamber of Commerce (1966) and Clay Center Rotary International Club (1968) where he was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. &nbsp;He was appointed by Governor Bennet to the Judicial Salary Committee (1975-78). &nbsp;He was a charter member of the Clay Center Loyal Order of Elks and 32nd degree member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a trustee of the Clay Center Carnegie Library. He served as director of the Colombia Savings and Loan, Home Federal Savings and Loan, and Northwest Financial Savings and Loan Boards. He was an avid golfer, serving as President of the Clay Center Country Club Holding Board (1975-1979), president of men’s golf and past chairman of the Little Saint Andrews Golf Tournament. &nbsp;Along with his wife Susan, they helped to organize the Clay Center Alcohol Rehabilitation and Treatment Program for referral and assistance for those in need. &nbsp;At the time, Clay Center had no public program of assistance for persons living with the disease. &nbsp;He later described this work in providing people a path to follow and witnessing their recovery as one of his proudest accomplishments.

His roots in KSU remained important throughout life. &nbsp;As an avid Wildcat fan, he was a patron and donor to many university programs. &nbsp;He served as a KSU Foundation trustee, Ahearn Scholarship Fund member, KSU Alumni Association life member and as president of the Clay County Wildcat Club (1972-78). &nbsp;He was President of the KSU Sigma Alpha Epsilon Alumni Association where he was awarded the Phoenix Award (1981)&nbsp;

He received the Future Farmers of America Outstanding Service Award (1966) and recognition from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (1980). &nbsp;He sponsored Junior Golf, girls’ softball, Boy Scouts of America and American Legion Baseball. &nbsp;For many years he chaired the local Red Cross Drive and co-chaired the United Way Campaign. He was a member of the US Highway 24 Improvement Committee organized to keep business in local communities. He organized the Milford Lake Association and spearheaded the “Play-A-Day” Midway USA campaign for which his work was recognized by Governor William Avery. &nbsp;

As the grandson of two ministers, his faith was always important to him. &nbsp;He was a member and trustee of the Clay Center United Methodist Church where he served on the administrative board and as Methodist Men’s Club president.

Throughout life he was active in Republican politics serving as county chairman for U.S. Senator Nancy Kassebaum, Governor Robert Bennet, Lt. Governor Dave Owen, and Senator Ross Doyen. He was chairman of Motor Car Dealers for Owen (1982) and Hayden (1986) and active with Car and Truck Dealers for Dole (1980). &nbsp;He was a delegate to multiple district and state Republican conventions. &nbsp;He and his wife Susan founded the Clay County Federation of Teenage Republicans (1971-1977).

He took great pride and joy in his family. Survivors include his two sons Michael Skinner, Junction City and Mark Skinner and husband James Matheson, Washington DC; three grandchildren Emily Schmidt and husband Mark, North Newton, Kansas, Alan Skinner and wife Sierra Hostetler, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Brian Skinner, North Newton, Kansas; four great grandchildren Zachary and Kaitlin Schmidt, and Gabe and Luka Skinner; Niece and nephews Amy Button Renz and husband Allen, Manhattan, Kansas, Dan Button and wife Cheryl Lippert, Cape Canaveral Florida, and John Button and wife Heather, Jackson, Tennessee and numerous great nieces and nephews. Neva Anderson, Manhattan, and her three daughters DeeJo Miller and husband Bob, Gardner, Julie Shaffer and husband Jeff, Decatur, Illinois, and Tamala Shaffer and husband Armstrong, London, England were an important part of his family. &nbsp;

Supporting his two sons living with severe hemophilia, along with care and advocacy to support others was a lifelong passion. &nbsp;Memorials may be made to the Susan Skinner Memorial Fund World Federation of Hemophilia U.S.A.  </figure>Thomas William Skinner, 90, died Friday July 7, 2023, at Meadowlark Hills in Manhattan, Kansas where he has been residing since 2021.He was born January 14, 1933, in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Joseph William Skinner and Marjorie (Fisher) Skinner. &nbsp;He graduated from Manhattan High School (1951), Kansas State University (1955) and Chevrolet Dealer-Son School (1959).He married Susan Rose Skinner July 27, 1954. &nbsp;They met the first day of freshman orientation at KSU and went on to celebrate 50 years of marriage prior to her death (2005). Thomas William Skinner

Ronald D. Dunn, age 86, died July 5, 2023, at the Linn Community Nursing Home in Linn, KS. He was born to Henry and Martha (McMahan) Dunn, on August 28, 1936, in Clay Center, KS.

 Ronald grew up on a farm near Idana. He was a Clay Center Community High School graduate. He married Delores Brown on February 2, 1957. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2022. Ronald wore many hats throughout his life and always stayed busy. He operated the road grater in rural areas, was a city employee for several years at the power plant and later picked up late shifts at Hutchinson Maywrath after farming during the day among other jobs. Ronald spent most of his life farming. At the request of his father, Ronald and Delores moved to the family farm to help with the farming operation. He also did custom cuts and baled hay around the surrounding area for rural farmers. Ronald and Delores moved into Clay Center in 1981.

 Ronald was a huge sports fan. He coached basketball for a girl’s league in Morganville for a few years and played baseball in Idana and Abilene. His love of sports did not end there, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, ice skating, and roller skating. Ronald’s children could always count on him to drop everything and be there to help them with anything at any time. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. You would usually always see a smile from ear to ear when they were around.

 In addition to his wife Ronald is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack and Dale Dunn; sisters, Betty James, Irene Sharp, Maxine Greenlee, Dorothy Tague and Jean Dunn
