CHASE COUNTY&nbsp;–&nbsp;The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has identified the man shot yesterday in an officer involved shooting incident on I-35.

The subject has been identified as 40-year-old Dustin S. Schultz-Bergin, of Olathe, Kan. He remains hospitalized in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing.&nbsp;&nbsp;

KHP troopers from Troops N and ESU were attempting to locate a wanted suspect when they came into contact with him at the Matfield Green Service Area on I-35. The subject fled in a black Nissan Altima heading north. A pursuit ensued, and a trooper in a separate vehicle was able to deploy stop sticks ahead of the suspect’s car. This caused the car to become disabled near mile marker 107, according to a media release from the KBI.

Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 1:25 p.m., the armed suspect exited his vehicle and a confrontation occurred which led one of the two troopers on scene to fire shots. A K-9 was also utilized. The suspect sustained at least one gunshot wound and several puncture wounds from the K-9. No troopers were injured.

EMS responded to the scene, and the man was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He is currently in critical condition.&nbsp;

The KBI will conduct a thorough and independent investigation into the shooting. Once completed the findings will be turned over to the Chase County Attorney for review.&nbsp;

Just before 1:30p.m. Thursday, Kansas Highway Patrol troopers were involved in a vehicle pursuit on the Kansas Turnpike in Chase County, according to Trooper Chad&nbsp;Crittenden.

Officers used a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle north of Matfield Green. There was a confrontation with an armed suspect and he was shot.

EMS transported the man to a Wichita hospital. No officers were injured, according to Crittenden.&nbsp; The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the investigation.

BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new charges after a drug bust at a home in Great Bend.

On Thursday morning, officers sere dispatched to 2311 Prairie Rose Drive&nbsp; to assist Central Kansas Community Corrections. When officers arrived Community Corrections personnel advised officers of suspected drug paraphernalia that they observed while inside the residence, according to the Great Bend Police Department.

Police arreste 41-year-old Jason Kober at the scene on unrelated warrants before a search warrant was obtained where officers located methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Kober was booked into the Barton County Jail on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He has previous convictions for drugs and theft, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Community corrections assists with arrest of Kansas felon

On January 16, officers executed a search warrant at the home of&nbsp; 46-year-old Brenton Jett in the 1000 Block of South A Street in Arkansas City, according to a media release.

The warrant was issued following an investigation into suspected drug use and sales at the house. During a subsequent search of the residence, items of both drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine were located by police.&nbsp;

They arrested&nbsp;Jett and Kaylin Marie Nichols, 24, on requested charges that include felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both were transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail.

Nichols remains in custody. Jett&nbsp; posted bond and has been released from jail. He has previous convictions for obstruction, unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance and for several drug violations.

Kansas felon with 6 previous convictions facing new charges

SHAWNEE COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas woman on multiple charges after an arrest.

Just after 11a.m. Tuesday, deputies served a search warrant on a residence in the 3400 block of NW Rochester Road, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

Deputies encountered the homeowner, Mary B. Kisner, 42, of Topeka, two other adult subjects, and Kisner’s toddler-aged child. Deputies seized methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and prescription medication from inside the residence.

They also arrested Kisner and booked her into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on multiple narcotics charges and child endangerment. 

Kisner’s toddler-aged child and other minor child, who was in school at the time of the search warrant, were placed into protective custody pending a hearing, according to deputy Christian.

Sheriff: Kan. woman in jail, 2 children placed into protective custody

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — A former Kansas State University student is suing a bar in the Aggiveille entertainment district where she was raped almost two years ago, alleging it lacked adequate security.

The lawsuit filed Tuesday in federal court said the woman was at O’Malley’s bar after midnight in February 2018 waiting for a friend to get off work. The woman said she had half a drink before stepping into the bar’s restroom, where two men stepped in behind her when the door failed to lock. One man raped her while the other pinned her against a wall, the suit says.

The suit also says the security cameras at the bar weren't working that night and that employees cleaned the bathroom before officers gathered evidence. No arrests have been made.

“I want these two men to be found and to answer for what they did. I want O’Malley’s to do better,” the woman said in a statement to The Star. She is asking anyone with information to come forward.

Lawsuit: KSU student raped in bathroom of Aggieville bar after lock failed

SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas man accused in the death of his 2-month-old son and of severely injuring the boy's twin sister made his first appearance in court Wednesday, according to&nbsp;the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

Marlin Williams Jr., 23, was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery and remains jailed on a <a href="https://ssc.sedgwickcounty.org/sheriffinmates/SheriffInmateDetail.aspx?nameId=18734677">$500,000 bond, according to online jail records.</a>

&nbsp;On December 10, police responded to an assist EMS call regarding a child not breathing at a home in the 2800 Block of South Emporia in Wichita, according to Captain Brent Allred.

Upon arrival offices located a 2-month-old boy identified as&nbsp;Marrell Williams unresponsive. EMS transported the child to a local hospital where it was discovered he had serious internal injuries, according to Allred.&nbsp;

Investigators learned the boy had a broken clavicle that was healing in addition to the injuries discovered during the EMS call. He died January 17.

 His 2-month-old twin sister had a healing broken femur, according to Allred.&nbsp; EMS transported her to a local hospital for treatment.&nbsp; 

A 1-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl at William's home were not injured and placed into police protective custody.&nbsp; The mother of the children was not at home at the time of the arrest.&nbsp;

23-year-old Kan. man charged in death of 2-month-old son

COWLEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas woman on drug and additional charges after a tip on social media.

On December 28, police took a report regarding a theft by shoplifting that had occurred earlier that day at the Walmart Supercenter, located at 2701 N. Summit Street in Arkansas City, according to a media release.

Through an anonymous tip via social media, Reyna Maria, 33, was identified as a possible suspect in the case.

On January 20, police located Lopez at a residence in the 200 block of East Birch Avenue after locating a vehicle belonging to her in that neighborhood. The vehicle, a gold 2000 Dodge Stratus, contained drug paraphernalia within plain sight of officers.

After they gained consent to search the vehicle, police also located counterfeit money inside. Police arrested her on requested charges that include felony of possession of methamphetamine and two felony counts of counterfeiting currency as well as one misdemeanor count each of possession of drug paraphernalia and theft.

She was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $9,500 bond, according to the release.

Social media tip leads to Kan. woman's arrest for counterfeit cash, drugs

NEWTON, KAN. (AP) — A&nbsp;man originally charged with capital murder for the deaths of three people in central Kansas in 2016 has avoided the death penalty by agreeing to plead guilty to four felonies.

Jereme Nelson, 39, pleaded guilty Jan. 10 to intentional second-degree murder, reckless second-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter and aggravated battery, Harvey County Attorney David Yoder said Tuesday. The plea deal calls for 39 years in prison.

Prosecutors met with the families of Nelson’s three victims before finalizing the deal or announcing it to media.

Nelson's girlfriend, Myrta Rangel, pleaded guilty in July 2018 to federal firearms charges. She admitted that she gave a gun to Nelson knowing he was going to the victims' home to collect a drug debt.

“This was a case that if we could get a substantial prison sentence, whereby Nelson would be serving most of the rest of his life behind bars, this was something we should look at,” Yoder said. “Nothing can bring back the three victims. ... Both decided that rather than take their chances at trial, this was a resolution everyone can live with.”

Prosecutors said Nelson shot and killed Travis Street, 33; Angela Graevs, 37, and Richard Prouty, 52, at a home in rural Moundridge where Street and Graevs lived. They were found dead in a driveway on Oct. 30, 2016. An 18-month-old inside the home was unharmed.

According to Rangel's plea agreement, Nelson drove to Street's home, where he shot all three victims in the head. Prouty was at the house to buy meth, according to the plea.

One of the witnesses to the crime died last year and another witness did not see everything that happened, Yoder said.

“The only other person alive that was at the scene was Nelson, and he did not make any statements,” Yoder said. “It came down to proof of premeditation. I don’t think there is any doubt to the killings, there is just how it all occurred at the scene and being able to reconstruct it.”

Nelson and Rangel were arrested Jan. 12, 2017, near Rosarito, Mexico. Nelson faces sentencing on Feb. 3.

Man pleads guilty to triple-slaying in central Kansas

JOHNSON COUNTY&nbsp;–&nbsp;A dispatcher from the Leawood Police Department was arrested after the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) investigated an accusation that she disseminated confidential Kansas Criminal Justice Information System (KCJIS) information to unauthorized individuals, according to a media release.

Just after noon Tuesday, Kallie R. Turnbow, 39, of Olathe, was arrested by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office at 1028 S. Valley Rd. in Olathe, Kan. 

She was arrested for violating restrictions on dissemination of criminal history record information, official misconduct, and unlawful acts concerning computers. After her arrest, Turnbow was booked into the Johnson County Jail.

The KBI initiated the case in October 2019 after receiving a tip to the Kansas crime line suggesting Turnbow was unlawfully sharing criminal history and driver’s license information. The crimes are suspected to have occurred between July 2018 and October 2019 while Turnbow was working as a dispatcher. She was placed on administrative leave in October of 2019.

The Johnson County District Attorney’s Office will prosecute the case.

KBI: Dispatcher arrested for alleged computer crimes

SHAWNEE COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects for burglary.

Just before 4a.m. Tuesday, a Shawnee County deputy located a vehicle near SE Branner Street and SE 6th&nbsp;Street that matched the description of a vehicle involved in recent burglaries in Shawnee County, including the Peck Subdivision, according to Sgt. Todd Stallbaumer.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The deputy noticed damage on the silver Mazda minivan, that matched damage shown from residential security system photos submitted from recent burglaries.&nbsp; 

The deputy conducted a traffic stop and found Narcotics and stolen property&nbsp; inside the minivan.&nbsp; He arrested the driver identified as&nbsp;&nbsp;Salvador Parga Rodriguez, 26, of Topeka on requested charges of Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Possession of Methamphetamine, Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property, Felony Warrants for Aggravated Robbery and Felon in Possession of Weapon and Registration Violations.

Sheriff's deputy finds Kan. man driving van with stolen property

COWLEY COUNTY— A Kansas felon with previous convictions that include identity theft and forgery is now in jail for alleged counterfeiting.

Just after 3 p.m. January 14, police responded to a restaurant in Arkansas City for a report of a person later identified as 43-year-old Amy Watterson, who had attempted to pass fake money, according to a media release from police.

Although she left before police arrived, officers quickly located and&nbsp;arrested her. Officers found she was in possession of several bills of fake currency. 

Further investigation determined she had attempted to pass the fake cash at multiple locations in the Arkansas City area, as well as in other jurisdictions.

“We are asking local businesses to be extra vigilant when accepting larger-denomination bills that potentially could be fake or counterfeit,” warned Police Chief Dan Ward.

&nbsp;Watterson remains jailed on requested charges that include counterfeiting as well as one misdemeanor count each of criminal trespass, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen property and theft.

Over the past ten years, Watterson has served prison time for arson, theft, burglary and for making false writing, ID theft and and forgery, according the Kansas Department of Corrections.

She is expected in court later this week on the new charges, according to district court officials.

Just after 10:30a.m. Sunday, police responded to report of a carjacking&nbsp; at the Trinity Lutheran Church in the 600 Block of South Erie in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson.

A 53-year-old woman at the scene told police as she exited her vehicle for church, two suspects assaulted her and took her 2019 Ford Escape. EMS transported her to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Just before 10a.m. Monday, the victim contacted 911 to report she was tracking the stolen car's movement using a Ford app. Officers were able to track the vehicle to a Quick Trip in the 700 Block of North Broadway. They found 21-year-old Ryan Dittmer and an 18-year-old with the car and detained them without incident.

Police arrested Dittmer on a requested charge of aggravated robbery and an outstanding Kansas Department of Corrections Warrant, according to Davidson.&nbsp; He has previous convictions for criminal possession of a weapon and theft, according to Davidson.

The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office.

Kan. church carjacking suspect caught; phone app found car

YUMA, Ariz. (AP) — Adolfo Cardenas smiles faintly at the memory of traveling with his 14-year-old son from Honduras to the U.S.-Mexico border in only nine days, riding buses and paying a smuggler $6,000 to ensure passage through highway checkpoints.

Father and son walked about 10 minutes in Arizona’s stifling June heat before surrendering to border agents. Instead of being released with paperwork to appear in immigration court in Dallas, where Cardenas hopes to live with a cousin, they were bused more than an hour to wait in the Mexican border city of Mexicali.

“It was a surprise. I never imagined this would happen,” Cardenas, 39, said while waiting at a Mexicali migrant shelter for his fifth court appearance in San Diego, on Jan. 24.

Illegal crossings plummeted across the border after the Trump administration made more asylum-seekers wait in Mexico for hearings in U.S. court. The drop has been most striking on the western Arizona border, a pancake-flat desert with a vast canal system from the Colorado River that turns bone-dry soil into fields of melons and wheat and orchards of dates and lemons.

Arrests in the Border Patrol’s Yuma sector nearly hit 14,000 in May, when the policy to make asylum-seekers wait in Mexico took effect there. By October, they fell 94%, to less than 800, and have stayed there since, making Yuma the second-slowest of the agency’s nine sectors on the Mexican border, just ahead of the perennially quiet Big Bend sector in Texas.

Illegal crossings in western Arizona have swung sharply before, and there are several reasons for the recent drop. But Anthony Porvaznik, chief of the Border Patrol’s Yuma sector, said the so-called Migration Protection Protocols have been a huge deterrent, based on agents’ interviews with people arrested.

“Their whole goal was to be released into the United States, and once that was taken off the shelf for them, and they couldn’t be released into the United States anymore, then that really diminished the amount of traffic that came through here,” Porvaznik said.

In the neighboring Tucson sector, arrests rose each month from August to December, bucking a border-wide trend and making it the second-busiest corridor after Texas’ Rio Grande Valley. Porvaznik attributes Tucson’s spike to the absence of the policy there until three months ago.

In late November, the administration began busing asylum-seekers five hours from Tucson to El Paso, Texas, for court and delivering them to Mexican authorities there to wait. This month, officials scrapped the buses by returning migrants to Mexico near Tucson and requiring them to travel on their own to El Paso.

More than 55,000 asylum-seekers were returned to Mexico to wait for hearings through November, 10 months after the policy was introduced in San Diego.

The immigrants were from more than three dozen countries, and nearly 2 out of 3 were Guatemalan or Honduran, according to Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse. Mexicans are exempt.

Critics say the policy is unfair and exposes asylum-seekers to extreme violence in Mexican border cities, where attorneys are difficult to find.

The American Civil Liberties Union and other groups asked to put the policy on hold during a legal challenge. The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments Oct. 1 and has not indicated when it will decide.

On Tuesday, critics scored a partial victory in a separate lawsuit when a federal judge in San Diego said asylum-seekers who are being returned to Mexico from California must have access to hired attorneys before and during key interviews to determine if they can stay in the U.S. while their cases proceed.

Immigration judges hear cases in San Diego and El Paso, while other asylum-seekers report to tent camps in the Texas cities of Laredo and Brownsville, where they are connected to judges by video.

In Yuma, asylum-seekers are held in short-term cells until space opens up to be returned to Mexicali through a neighboring California sector. Those interviewed by The Associated Press waited up to a week in Yuma, though Border Patrol policy says people generally shouldn’t be held more than 72 hours.

Volunteers visit Mexicali shelters to offer bus tickets or a two-hour ride to Tijuana, along with hotel rooms for the night before court appearances in San Diego.

Cardenas, who worked construction in the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa, said he feels unsafe in Mexico and that it was impossible to escape gangs in Honduras. “They are in every corner,” he said.

Enma Florian of Guatemala, who crossed the border illegally with her 16- and 13-year-old sons near Yuma in August, doesn’t know if she would stay in Mexico or return to Guatemala if denied asylum in the U.S. The grant rate for Guatemalan asylum-seekers was 14% for the 12-month period that ended Sept. 30, compared with 18% for Salvadorans, 13% for Hondurans and 11% for Mexicans.

“The dream was to reach the United States,” she said, holding out hope that she will settle with relatives in Maryland.

While illegal crossings have nosedived in Yuma, asylum-seekers still sign up on a waiting list to enter the U.S. at an official crossing in San Luis, Arizona. U.S. Customs and Border Protection calls the Mexican shelter that manages the list to say how many asylum claims it will process each day. The shelter estimates the wait at three to four months.

Angel Rodriguez, one of 143 Cubans on the shelter’s waiting list of 1,484 people, has had bright moments in Mexico, including a beautiful Christmas meal. But the 51-year-old rarely goes outside and he dreads the possibility of being forced to wait for hearings in Mexico after his number is called to make an initial asylum claim in the US.

“That’s sending me to hell again,” said Rodriguez, who hopes to settle with friends in Dallas or Miami. “If I’m going to seek asylum, I’m going to look to a country that is the safest and respects human rights. That country is the United States of America.”

Illegal crossings plunge as US extends policy across border

BARTON COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on&nbsp; new charges after three county high-speed chase.

Just before 4a.m. Monday, a sheriff's deputy on patrol in the 400 block of NW 10th Avenue in rural Barton County attempted to stop a 2010 Ford Fusion for a traffic infraction, according to Sheriff Brian Bellendir.

Sheriff's deputies ultimately were able to box in the suspect's vehicle just west of Albert, approximately one half mile west of the Barton/Rush County line.

Deputies arrested the driver Shaina Kuester, 23,&nbsp; of rural Barton County. She is being held on a bond of $10,000 on requested charges that include possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, felony flee and elude and a number of other traffic violations, according to Bellendir.&nbsp; She has two previous convictions for drug possession in Barton County, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Kansas felon leads deputies on 3-county high-speed chase

SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating two Kansas man on sex charges after an arrest.

On Thursday, the Wichita Police Exploited and Missing Children (EMCU) investigators received information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Wichita Office, of a 14-year-old girl runaway being in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson.

EMCU began investigating the case and located the girl at a residence in the 2700 block of North Amidon in Wichita.&nbsp; Police also located a suspect identified as 20-year Devin Miller on Amidon and arrested without incident.&nbsp; Police located a second suspect identified as 19-year-old Kyle Ellery at a residence in the 2300 block of North Sommerset. He was arrested without incident.

The investigation revealed, Ellery picked up the girl&nbsp; in Missouri and brought her back to Wichita for purposes of inappropriate relations, according to Davidson.&nbsp;

Ellery and Miller were booked on requested charges of aggravated indecent liberties with a child, sexual exploitation of a child, contributing to a child's misconduct, and aggravated interference with parental custody.

Police: Kansas man brought 14-year-old from Missouri for sex

SHAWNEE COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects caught during a home burglary.

Just after 8:00 a.m. Thursday, the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center received a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 2200 block of NW Tyler Street in Topeka, according to police spokesperson Gretchen Koenen. 

A short time later, officers from the Topeka Police Department arrived and located two men actively burglarizing the residence.

Police arrested 34-year-old Chad Kasey Kidd and 27-year-old Michael Allen-Deere Jaimez, both from Topeka. They are being held on requested charges of Burglary, Theft, Criminal damage to property andCriminal trespass, according to Koenen.

Police catch two suspects during burglary of Kansas home

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new charges after an arrest.

Just after 4:30p.m. Thursday, a deputy sheriff observed an individual acting suspiciously after pulling into a driveway in the 5100 block of NW Arroyo Drive, according to Sgt.&nbsp;Todd Stallbaumer.

The deputy, who is familiar with the owner of the residence, made contact with the individual to make sure he belonged.&nbsp; After speaking with the individual, it was confirmed that he did not belong at the house.&nbsp;

After investigating, it was determined that Jerry L. Lewis, 35, of Topeka, was driving a stolen Ford F-250 out of the city of Eudora, according to Stallbaumer.

2 people shot, injured as they drove along Kansas interstate

PAWNEE COUNTY –&nbsp;&nbsp;The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) and the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office have located and arrested Alejandro Alvarado, the subject who fled an officer involved shooting early Saturday morning.

Alvarado was arrested just after 8 a.m. at 551 R Rd. in Pawnee Rock, Kan. EMS responded and evaluated Alvarado, though he had not been shot during the earlier incident.

He was booked into the Pawnee County Jail on an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault out of Finney County. The investigation is ongoing.

The suspect in the officer-involved shooting near Larned is now in custody, according to Pawnee County Attorney Doug McNett.

Law enforcement authorities have released no additional details.

PAWNEE COUNTY&nbsp;–&nbsp;The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is investigating after an officer involved shooting occurred near Larned.

According to a media release from the KBI, the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office requested KBI assistance at approximately 2:10 a.m. KBI agents and the Crime Scene Response Team responded.

Preliminary information indicates that on Jan. 18, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a deputy from the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle along U.S. Highway 56, approximately three miles East of Larned. When the deputy approached the vehicle, he smelled marijuana, and two male occupants were asked to exit the vehicle. An altercation occurred during the pat down between the deputy and the male who had been the vehicle’s passenger. The deputy fired shots at the subject. The subject then fled on foot. He crossed the highway and was last seen running South from the area.

It is unknown if the subject was injured by gunfire. He remains at large. The deputy was not injured during the incident. The vehicle’s driver was taken to the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office for questioning.

Authorities ask for the public’s assistance in locating the subject, who has now been identified as Alejandro Alvarado, 21, from Lincoln, Neb., Alvarado is a Hispanic male, approximately 5 ft. 7 in. tall, weighing 150 lbs. He has a tattoo on his neck that reads “one hundred” in black script lettering. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark colored top with lighter colored sleeves.

Update: Suspect from Kansas officer involved shooting is in custody

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a murder and continue the search for the victim's body.

The suspect, 53-year-old Jeffrey Hill, made his first court appearance Thursday, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

He is charged with second-degree murder, criminal possession of a firearm, interference with law enforcement and for possession of narcotics and marijuana. He is being held on a $350,000.

Just after noon on December 29, a 58-year-old man reported to police that 53-year-old Jeffrey Hill had been involved a criminal homicide in the 2100 Block of South Water in Wichita, according to police captain Brent Allred.

The victim had taken to an unknown location outside of Wichita and buried.

Police later learned the victim was 50-year-old Jeffry Jones of Hutchison. The examination of evidence and witness interviews led police to arrest Hill after a traffic stop in Wichita on Monday, according to Allred.

When officers stopped the 1999 Chevy Suburban, Hill fled on foot. Officers quickly chased him down. Police also located meth, marijuana and narcotic pills in the SUV.&nbsp;

Hill is being held on without&nbsp;<a href="https://ssc.sedgwickcounty.org/sheriffinmates/SheriffInmateDetail.aspx?nameId=52197">bond&nbsp; for second-degree murder,</a>&nbsp;possession of meth with intent to sell, possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.

Police have not located the victim's body, according to Allred.&nbsp; &nbsp;They are also working to determine a motive for the crime.

Hill has previous convictions for aggravated robbery, burglary, theft, forgery, identity theft, drugs and for trafficking in contraband in a penal institution, according to Allred.

Felon charged, body of Kansas murder victim still missing

SEDGWICK COUNTY —A 2-month Kansas boy hospitalized with critical injuries on January 10 has died.

Marrell Williams of Wichita died Thursday night after he and and his twin sister were taken to a hospital with injuries in a case of alleged child abuse, according to officer Charley Davidson. This is the second baby who has died in child abuse investigations in two days.&nbsp;

On Wednesday, 9-month-old Maela Flores who was seriously injured January 10 died at a Wichita hospital, according Police Captain Brent Allred.

Just after noon January 10, police responded to an assist EMS call regarding a child not breathing at a home in the 2800 Block of South Emporia in Wichita, according Allred.

Upon arrival offices located the 2-month-old boy unresponsive. EMS transported the child to a local hospital where it was discovered he had serious internal injuries, according to Allred.&nbsp;

Investigators learned the boy also had a broken clavicle that was healing in addition to the injuries discovered during the EMS call. His 2-month-old twin sister had a healing broken femur, according to Allred.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested the children's father 22-year-old Marlin Williams.&nbsp; He was charged Tuesday with three counts o<a href="https://ssc.sedgwickcounty.org/sheriffinmates/SheriffInmateDetail.aspx?nameId=20064881">f aggravated battery</a>&nbsp;and is being held on a $250,000 bond.

&nbsp;A 1-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl at William's home were not injured and remain in police protective custody.&nbsp;The mother of the children was not at home at the time of the arrest.&nbsp;

Police will present the case to the Sedgwick County District Attorney for additional charges, according to officer Charley Davidson.

&nbsp;Maela Flores was also hospitalized with critical injuries since police were called to her Wichita home last week.

Her mother's boyfriend, 25-year-old Brietan Rader, was charged Tuesday with two counts of child abuse and two drug charges. Officer Charley Davidson said he expects Rader will be charged with first-degree murder in Maela's death.

Rader was arrested after officers found the girl critically injured in an apartment that had a marijuana-growing operation. Investigators determined the girl’s injuries happened while Rader was caring for her.

Police: 2nd baby this week dies after injuries from alleged child abuse

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AP) -A Kansas man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 22-year-old sister, Johnson County prosecutors said Thursday.

John Parker Mays, 27, Lawrence, was arrested Tuesday night in Douglas County after his sister, Layne Mays, was found dead, Overland Park police spokesman John Lacy said. He was charged Thursday and is being held on $1 million bond. Authorities have not said how Layne Mays died.

Layne Mays’s mother found her body and called police, police said.
