Stan was born in Wichita, KS on August 11, 1938 to John Henry Lips, Jr. and Iris Christina (Olson) Lips Crawford. He was 82 years old. He passed away April 11, 2021, at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan, KS, at the age of 82. He moved with his family to Coffeyville, KS where he attended Coffeyville Grade School, graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1956. During this time, he was awarded the FFA State Farmer Degree. Stan studied Animal Husbandry at Kansas State University where he met Martha Jane “Marty” Diepenbrock. They were married on September 20, 1959 in Topeka, KS. Together they farmed and raised their family near Bartlett, KS. The couple moved to Manhattan, KS in the spring of 2019. They were married 61 years. Stan loved farming from the time he was a small child. He and Marty owned his family’s century farm, farming and raising cattle for most of Stan’s life. Stan served on several community boards. Most importantly, he served on the USD #506 School Board, helped organize Rural Water District No. 8, served as president of Labette County Farm Bureau and was on the Bartlett Co-op board. Stan was a member of the Bartlett Christian Church. Stan was a mentor and friend to Brent Mathes of Bartlett, KS. He appreciated and loved Brent as his son. They farmed and worked together for many years. He loved knowing that Brent continues his farming legacy. Woodworking was a hobby Stan enjoyed. He made many pieces of furniture for family and friends. He loved to read and never passed up a good museum. He took great pleasure attending his daughters’ and grandchildren’s activities. Sandra Faye Heideman, 66, of Alma, Kansas, died peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 8, 2021. She was a life-long resident of the area.

Sandy was born on June 12, 1954 in Topeka, KS the daughter of Donald and Elna (Garanson) TenEyck. She attended local schools and graduated in 1972 from Alma High School.

Sandy married Dickie Bill Heideman on October 21, 1972, in Alma. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1999.

Sandy worked over 40 years doing day care for children in her home. The children in her daycare were all very special to her. She loved to interact with them and especially enjoyed reading and singing with them.

Sandy was also devoted to her own family and was always present at her children’s activities even if that meant taking the daycare kids along with her. She loved to read and was known to share numerous Dr. Phill quotes. More than anything, she loved to spend time with her grandkids.

Sandy was a woman with a strong faith. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

Sandy is survived by her parents; her children, Kristin Coon (Scott), Alma, Branen Heideman (Brandy), Alma, and Kylie Mulanax (Brian Quackenbush), Dewitt, Nebraska; her grandchildren, Nathan Coon, Bailey Coon, Shaylee Heideman, Keaton Mulanax, and Evan Quackenbush; her sister, Susan Johnson (Richard), Olathe, and her brother, Jeffrey TenEyck (Irene), Dallas Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Kathryn Marie Berg, 88, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

Kathryn was born near Hiawatha, KS on December 10, 1932 to George Albert and Dorothy Anna Wilhelmine (Fiegenbaum) Onek. Kathryn attended schools in Hiawatha and graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1951.

Kathryn married Henry Mitchell Berg on April 4, 1954. Kathryn and Henry met through youth fellowship between area Lutheran churches. Henry was the love of her life. Henry preceded her in death on March 2, 2014. They were married almost 60 years. Together they owned and operated Berg’s IGA in Westmoreland and Berg’s Super Saver

in Auburn. After they sold the stores, she continued to work as a cashier for another grocery store chain. She raised five children. After she retired, she raised a granddaughter. Her pride and joy was her family. She loved having them all gathered together. She counted many of her kids’ friends as her own.

Kathryn was a woman of faith; she had been a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church and St. John’s &nbsp;Lutheran Church, Topeka, KS. In their younger years, Henry and she enjoyed square dancing. Kathryn liked doing embroidery, working puzzle books, and bird-watching. Henry and she would go out for long drives in the country, exploring the back roads. She was an excellent cook and baker; her family especially enjoyed her cinnamon rolls, chocolate sheet cake and meatballs and gravy. Over the last few years, she liked to watch the Game Show Network, TLC, and DIY home improvement shows.

Kathryn is survived by her children, Tim Berg, Topeka, Jeanette (Doug) Torok, Olathe, Scott (Becky) Berg, Topeka, Katy Lundgren, Kingsville, Missouri, and her daughter-in-law Margaret Carreno, Topeka; her “adopted” children, Yvonne Carreno, Cyndi Turner, John Berg, Doug Campbell, and Tim Manges; her three grandchildren, Mitchell Bowers, Addie Bowers and David Hall; her eight great-grandchildren; her siblings, Martha Biesenthal and Louis Onek; her brother-in-law Marvin Bosse and her sister-in-law Carolyn Onek. Jean was born August 19, 1925 to parents, Leon and Martha Knight in Great Bend, Kansas.&nbsp; They relocated to Marion in 1929 along with sisters, Barbara Lea and LaVerna Mae, where her father opened the J.C. Penney store.&nbsp; Jean joined the Valley United Methodist church in 1937 and remained a faithful member for the rest of her life. &nbsp;

Jean's father died suddenly in 1942, requiring the girls to summon the strength to help their mother through the hard time.&nbsp; She graduated from high school in 1943 and worked a number of jobs in Marion.&nbsp; Jean appreciated being recognized as someone who played hard, but was still a lady and a good sport. &nbsp;

Jean married Bud Pierce in 1946 and they served as stalwarts of the Marion community until his death in 2007.&nbsp; They were known throughout Kansas since Bud called square dances for 26 years.&nbsp; Jean enjoyed her work in Marion, and had a passion for gardening at 303 Locust Street. &nbsp;

Jean is survived by nieces and nephews Jill (Ron) Miller, Grapevine, Tx., Marty (Chuck) Heigert, Alma, Ks., Mark Kline, Istanbul, Turkey, and Brook Beaston, Jackson, Tn. 5 great nieces and nephew, 5 great-great nieces and nephew,&nbsp; and many good friends, all of whom she treasured. She was often referred to as a "fun" aunt, as well as being nurturing and supportive, as she had no children of her own.&nbsp; Family and friends always enjoyed her spirit, energy, and dry humor. &nbsp;

She appreciated the love and excellent care she received at Marion Assisted Living in her last years.

In lieu of flowers, it was Jean's wish that memorials be made to the Valley Methodist Church and the St. Luke Hospital Foundation.

Wilma Jean (Knight) Pierce August 19, 1925-April 8, 2021 (age 95)

Dale Herman Nielsen, 94, of Dunlap, passed away April 6, 2021.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born to N.H. (Herman) and Margarethe Nielsen on their farm near Americus, on June 24, 1926. After moving to a farm near Dunlap, he attended the Dunlap Schools.

Growing up during the Great Depression, hard work and sacrifice was the norm.&nbsp;&nbsp;He loved the outdoors and farmed as long as health permitted.&nbsp;&nbsp;He also worked for Western Grain Mill and drove trucks, not leaving much idle time for the fishing he enjoyed.

He, along with friends and neighbors were instrumental in starting the Dunlap Volunteer Fire Department and helped with many fundraising activities through the years.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was also a charter member of the Neosho Valley 4-H club, remaining involved in various project leadership roles as an adult.

He married a school teacher, Frances Cleveland, and they had four children: Darrel, Karen, David and Kala.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances in 1977, brothers: Chris and Ray and sister Esther Griffith. He is survived by his children: Darrel (Janice) Nielsen, of Dunlap, Karen (John) Bishop, of Emporia, David Nielsen, of Dunlap and Kala (Mike) Wengler, of Aurora, NE; 6 grandchildren; several great grandkids, who affectionately called him G.P. Pa; sisters: Elsie Anderson, of Americus, Mary Keen, of Edmond, OK and Dorathy Ratcliff, of Durant, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert Colman Bruce "Bob," 92, of Junction City, KS, peacefully passed away at his home with family at his bedside on March 19, 2021. Johnson Funeral Home of Junction City is assisting the family with cremation arrangements. A private graveside service will be held Saturday, April 24, 2021, 1:00pm, at the Highland Cemetery of Junction City, 703 West Ash Street, Junction City, KS 66441, followed by a Celebration of Life. Bob was born on July 17, 1928, Junction City, Kansas, to Colman and Nina (Archbold) Bruce. He grew up as a native of Junction City graduating from Junction City high School class of 1946. He met the love of his life, Vivian Louise Peck, and they married March 05, 1950. After a long year of being quarantined related to Covid-19, they were able to celebrate their 71st anniversary with lunch at Stacy’s Restaurant the day before Bob’s health decline. Lifetime residents of Junction City, Bob and Vivian have long been advocates for the city and instilled in family and others the importance of supporting local small businesses. Bob was always a hard worker. Even before his graduation of high school, he could be seen at his father's business watching and learning the family trade. He later came to own the business, Junction City/Fort Riley/Manhattan Transportation, and was not only the owner but also a dedicated mechanic. Bob's friendly face was a welcome sight at JC Transit several days a week up until two years ago! In his valuable spare time, he loved to work on his home. He was constantly upgrading and fixing things. He also had a love of woodworking. He was a member of the "McDonalds Breakfast Club" where he and several friends would meet for coffee. He and Vivian also met with other members of the class of '46 to have lunch at Stacy's Restaurant. Above all, Bob was a devoted husband, loving father, adoring grandfather and great-grandfather, and loyal friend. Bob was born on July 17, 1928, Junction City, Kansas, to Colman and Nina (Archbold) Bruce. He grew up as a native of Junction City graduating from Junction City high School class of 1946. He met the love of his life, Vivian Louise Peck, and they married March 05, 1950. After a long year of being quarantined related to Covid-19, they were able to celebrate their 71st anniversary with lunch at Stacy’s Restaurant the day before Bob’s health decline. Lifetime residents of Junction City, Bob and Vivian have long been advocates for the city and instilled in family and others the importance of supporting local small businesses. Bob was always a hard worker. Even before his graduation of high school, he could be seen at his father's business watching and learning the family trade. He later came to own the business, Junction City/Fort Riley/Manhattan Transportation, and was not only the owner but also a dedicated mechanic. Bob's friendly face was a welcome sight at JC Transit several days a week up until two years ago! In his valuable spare time, he loved to work on his home. He was constantly upgrading and fixing things. He also had a love of woodworking. He was a member of the "McDonalds Breakfast Club" where he and several friends would meet for coffee. He and Vivian also met with other members of the class of '46 to have lunch at Stacy's Restaurant. Above all, Bob was a devoted husband, loving father, adoring grandfather and great-grandfather, and loyal friend. Bob is survived by his loving family: wife, Vivian of Junction City, KS; his three sons, David (Dara) Bruce of Junction City, KS, Cary (Pam) Bruce of Olathe, KS, and Craig (Tammy) Bruce of Junction City, KS; six grandchildren, Erin (Paul) Iacobucci, Tyler (Kate) Bruce, Jordan (Jake) Persun, Michael Bruce, Megan Bruce, and Caleb Bruce; four great-grandchildren, Rocco Iacobucci, Talia Iacobucci, Alice Bruce, and Kieran Bruce; and a host of loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Virginia Hixon and Betty Miller. Robert Colman Bruce

Marilyn Jean Luthi, age 77 of Wakefield, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.

She was born on October 16, 1943 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and Florence Elizabeth (Adams) Duncan.

On February 12, 1965 in Leonardville, she married Gerald Dean Luthi.  He survives of the home.

Marilyn graduated from Crum’s Beauty School and following college, owned and operated Ole’s Place in Leonardville, cooked at the Clay County Medical Center and Leonardville Nursing Home and worked at Ray’s IGA during her career.  She was a member of the Clay Center Covenant Church and enjoyed gardening, flowers and sewing.  Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.



In addition to her husband Jerry, she is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Dugan and husband Charles of Leonardville and Jerrilyn Hendrickson and husband Ronald of Clifton; four grandchildren, Isabella Dugan (Nathan Birney), Cierra Dugan (Trevor Klein), Robert Hendrickson and Annalea Hendrickson; one great grandchild on the way and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Richard Duncan and Deana Duncan.


The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2021 at the Clay Center Covenant Church with Pastor Brad Mann officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in Wakefield.

Daniel Raymond Meek

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, friend, baseball fan, and public servant, Robert D. (Bob) Linder was at home in Manhattan, Kansas when he left this earth to be with his Lord early Easter Sunday morning&nbsp; April 4,&nbsp; 2021 at the age of 87. Born in Salina, Kansas, on 6 October 1933, he was the first of Orel Andrew Linder and Minnie Izetta Bickel Linder’s four boys. The Great Depression, which presented his working-class family with many hardships, was no indication of what future his talents, intellect, and hard work would produce, but the circumstances of his humble beginnings were a powerful force that would inform his perspective; the expansive, creative spirit of the Great Plains would never leave him. With faith in God, a good sense of humor, and a keen, curious mind, Linder was blessed with a rich life filled with family, friends, baseball, and scholarly adventure. From a young age, Linder developed a love for baseball, an interest he shared with his father who once, at great cost, took young Bobby on an overnight bus ride to see the St. Louis Cardinals play, then the closest professional team, where he cheered on Stan the Man Musial and other heroes of the day. He returned to organize his local neighborhood team into serious ball players by having them each sign a contract committing to a fee of 1 cent if they missed a practice. Linder excelled at sports during his high school days, setting track records and wrestling for Salina High School, from which he graduated in 1951. He also continued perfecting his game of baseball, playing with zeal and at a standard that put him on the path of playing professionally, but eventually turning down a Triple A contract with the White Sox to attend college. He would never fully leave his love of baseball behind and even taught a hugely popular course on the History of Baseball in American Culture, gave talks at Society for American Baseball Research conferences, and always enjoyed attending Kansas City Royals games, and spring training camps, especially in his latter years. After high school, Linder moved to Chicago to receive Biblical training at Moody Bible Institute, the institution he credited for developing his ability to write well; on the side, he washed windows part-time in downtown Chicago, amongst other jobs, to make ends meet. After his stint in Chicago, he returned to Kansas where he was awarded scholarships to study for his BS in Education with an emphasis in History from Kansas State Teachers College, now Emporia State University, earning his degree in 1956. While at college in Emporia, he discovered his passion for history and met and married his wife of 63 years, Jean Ann Burch. Around this time, while exploring different career paths, he also earned a couple of seminary degrees. From Emporia, he went on to the University of Iowa from where he obtained an MA and PhD in History in l960 and l963, respectively. In this period of his life, he also served in the US Army Reserves for eight years, retiring with the rank of Captain. Linder began his teaching career at William Jewell College, Liberty, Missouri, in l963. In l965, he joined the History Department at Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, where he went on to teach for more than 50 years. In 2003, he was named University Distinguished Professor of History and retired, Emeritus, in 2018. His years of post-doctoral study while on sabbatical, first at Oxford University, England in 1974 and again at Cambridge University, England in 1986, were among some of the happiest times of his life, particularly his days in Oxford when his family was alongside him and where on weekends they explored the nooks and crannies of the country’s storied castles, haunted places, and battlefields, and he enjoyed multiple trips to the European continent driving as far as from Oxford to Moscow by car. During his lifetime he wrote and published extensively in the fields of religion and politics, writing or editing 17 books and publishing more than one hundred scholarly papers and articles. His latest major project, a seminal work on the history of Evangelicals in Australia which he co-authored with Australian scholar, Stuart Piggin, was the culmination of 30 years of research and parts of multiple decades spent on the continent Down Under. Published in two volumes (2018 and 2020) the book has received critical acclaim. During his time there, Linder developed many close and enduring relationships with his Australian counterparts. He loved the Out Back as he did the Great Plains and acquired the nickname “Crocodile Bob.” A lifelong educator, Linder was also a public servant. Elected to the Manhattan City Commission in 1969 and again in 1975, he served two four-years terms that included two stints as mayor of the city. Among his proudest accomplishments on the city commission were his successful negotiations with Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, Nebraska to secure the railroad right of way for the city to build what is now Ft. Riley Blvd., his advocacy for the location of Manhattan Town Center in its current location to re-anchor the downtown as the city began to expand westward, and his work to desegregate the city cemetery in the 1970s. Issues of community and working for social justice were always high on his agenda. Linder may be best known for his passion for teaching, drive for excellence, and unquenchable thirst for knowledge which he felt compelled to share with the tens of thousands of students who passed through his many classes, a great number of whom he regarded as true friends. He also was known for and fond of saying, “the more you know, the more you know!!” His most precious treasure, however, was his family to whom he was dedicated, and his grace-filled wife who was his source of strength and north star. He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and missed them greatly whenever they were out of his presence. Wanda (Patnode) Shockey passed away on April 6, 2021 in Manhattan, Kansas, after a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s. Wanda was born on September 10, 1946 in Manhattan, the daughter of Orval and Dorothy (Sackrider) Patnode., she is the sister of Linda (Patnode) Letterman. Wanda was a life-long resident of the community. Wanda attended schools in Manhattan, and graduated from Manhattan High School in 1964. She was also a graduate of Kansas State University with a degree in Business Administration in 1968. After graduation she started working at the Manhattan Public Library. Wanda was the business manager at the library with responsibilities that included payroll and budget for more than 40 years. Wanda was joined in marriage with James Shockey in Manhattan and blessed with on son, Michael Shockey. Wanda was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Riley County Genealogical Society. She enjoyed researching her ancestry and discovering her French-Canadian origins. She was proud to know her ancestors were part of the first colonizers of “New France”, the Isle de Orleans, an island across the bridge from Quebec. Wanda enjoyed many hobbies, including her Barbie Doll collections and Elvis memorabilia. A special memory of hers was attending an Elvis Presley Concert in Kansas City in 1977. She also enjoyed watching the cooking show The Pioneer Woman, and collected various items from the Pioneer Woman Mercantile in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She enjoyed cruising down Poyntz in the “Frog”, her big green Buick, with her chocolate malt and cherry mash. Most recently Wanda enjoyed cruising with her son in his red Camaro. She took a pleasure in car racing at the Manhattan Raceway, where she won many trophies. As a child Wanda enjoyed constructing furniture for her sister’s dollhouse and was gifted in sewing clothes for many of her dolls. She inherited her skills in carpentry from her grandfather, Alvin Patnode. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Orval and Dorothy Patnode, and her ex-husband James Shockey. She is survived by her son Michael Shockey, sister Linda (Patnode) Letterman and her husband Winston, and her long-time friend, Don Ford; also, her many cousins and life-long friends. The family will greet friends during a visitation on Tuesday April 13, 2021 from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan. Wanda (Patnode) Shockey 

Jeanette Ann Auld, age 74, of Manhattan, died April 6, 2021, at Ascension Via Christi Village in Manhattan. She was born June 26, 1946, in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Calvin and Pauline (Murphy) Conwell. The family moved to Alta Vista early when she was about 1, and then lived with grandparents Conwell for several years while their house was being built. Jeanette graduated from Alta Vista High School. On September 25, 1964, at the Welcome Presbyterian Church in Alta Vista, she was married to James H. Auld. She was born June 26, 1946, in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Calvin and Pauline (Murphy) Conwell. The family moved to Alta Vista early when she was about 1, and then lived with grandparents Conwell for several years while their house was being built. Jeanette graduated from Alta Vista High School. On September 25, 1964, at the Welcome Presbyterian Church in Alta Vista, she was married to James H. Auld. Dr. Ann Elizabeth Liston, 83, formerly of Hays, died Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Wilson Care and Rehab in Wilson, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born August 6, 1937, and considered Harlan, Iowa, her hometown.

Ann earned her master’s degree from Michigan State University, was a fan of Spartan football and left her collection of American needlework (one of her areas of specific study) to MSU.&nbsp; Ann received her doctorate from Ohio State University.

She joined the faculty at Fort Hays State University in 1968 where she spent her entire career. She was a professor of history, an advisor, and retired as chair of her department.&nbsp; While at FHSU, Ann served on many committees, including the department scholarship committee, and she sponsored Phi Alpha Theta, a history honor society. &nbsp;She supported student involvement in the Ellis County Historical Society and served as curator of history at FHSU’s Sternberg Museum of Natural History.&nbsp;Ann also was a member of the Kansas Humanities Council Speakers Bureau.&nbsp;In the community, she was a Hays Public Library board member, an active participant in Friends of the Library, and encouraged library music programs. &nbsp; Ann was a member of the Hays Medical Center Auxiliary.&nbsp;She also led book discussions, part of the Talk About Literature in Kansas program of the humanities council.

Ann was an avid fan of jazz and other forms of music and, according to the musicians she knew, a great listener.&nbsp; Musicians and teachers&nbsp;Brad Dawson and Luke Johnson from the Hays area showed their appreciation by playing at Ann's birthday celebrations at Wilson Care and Rehab.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Ann’s father, Glen Liston, was a journalist, photographer and newspaper editor.&nbsp; Her mother, Mildred, was highly educated at a time when it was unusual for women.&nbsp; She taught home economics, currently Family and Consumer Science.

Survivors include friends Kate Dutton Coddington&nbsp;of Wamego, Kansas; Elaine Garrison&nbsp;of Kansas City, Missouri; and former students and colleagues at FHSU.

Honorary pallbearers are Richard "Junior" Brown; Dr. David Goodlett;&nbsp;Andrew Warren; Gerald Spaits; Ben Markley; and Clint Ashlock.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Ann’s longtime partner, the late “Frank” (Francis) Windholz, rests in the Gorham, Kansas, cemetery.&nbsp; Ann’s brother Philip, sister Susan, and their parents also preceded Ann in death.

Per her request, Ann has been cremated.&nbsp; While circumstances do not allow for a service now, a musical celebration of Ann’s life is planned for early August. &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Edmond “Ed” D. Gaumond, 43 of Chapman passed away Monday, April 4, 2021. He was born August 30, 1977 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Edmond W. Gaumond and step-mother Jennifer Gaumond. In 1998 he enlisted in the United States Army. He retired from the Army in 2017, serving 19 years 9 months. On February 13, 2015 he was united in marriage to Amanda Parrish in Abilene, Kansas.&nbsp; Ed was a member of the Chapman American Legion Post 240.

 He is survived by his loving wife Amanda of the home. Children: Adam Gaumond (Vicky); Eddie Gaumond (Samantha); Benjamin Gaumond; Mia Guamond; Hope Gaumond; Catherine Mitchell; and April Mitchell. Grandchildren: Effie Austin; Daxon Gaumond; Edmond Gaumond; and Owen Gaumond. His dad and step-mother, Edmond and Jennifer Gaumond. Step-brothers, Sean Lee and Justin Lee and his mother-in-law, Kerry Ware. He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene.

Family members noted that Gregory was born October 30,1956, to the late Velma Lee Deal and Hershel Hamilton Harris in Los Angeles, CA. Gregory served honorably in the US Army for over 15 years. He was employed as a Logistical Management &nbsp;Specialist at the United States Army Network Enterprise center on Fort Riley for 28 years.

Gregory was united in marriage to Yvonne on August 24, 1984 in Zweibrucken, Germany. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Harris, Daughter, Angela Hertlein, Son, Manuel Hertlein along with 5 grandchildren, Samantha Hertlein, Christopher Hertlein, Allen Hertlein, Juliana Hertlein and Vanessa Hertlein. Gregory also had 2 beautiful great granddaughters, Kaycee Hertlein and Towana Hertlein.

She was an usher, prayer bearer, volunteered in hospitality, was a Cell Group Leader, was in the prayer band, and participated in the Women's Ministry. She also had many interests and hobbies, but above all, she was a woman of God, devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and loyal friend. Donna Rae Woodward, 79 died April 3, 2021 in Clay Center, KS.&nbsp; She was born on September 25, 1941 in Manhattan, the daughter of Cecil and Beryl (Cross) Pickett. &nbsp;Donna married Delvin Woodward on January 5, 1981.&nbsp; She worked as a CNA at Centennial Homestead Nursing Home and at the Washington County Hospital.&nbsp; Donna also worked on livestock farms in Clay and Washington Counties and most recently, worked for Scott’s Specialty in Clay Center.&nbsp;&nbsp; She loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp; In her free time, Donna enjoyed sewing, flower gardening and never missed an opportunity to shop at a garage sales.&nbsp; Donna loved all animals, but dogs and cats were her favorites.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents and two great-grandchildren.

Greg is survived by his wife, daughter; Angela Hertlein of Junction City; and a son Manuel Hertlein of Zweibrucken, Germany; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Gregory Allen Harris, 64, of Junction City passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at his residence. Gregory was born October 30, 1956, to the late Velma Lee (Lacefield) Deal and Hershel Hamilton Harris in Los Angeles, California. Gregory served in the United States Army during Operation Desert Storm and served honorably for over 15 years. Greg was employed as a Logistical Management Specialist at the United States Army Network Enterprise Center on Fort Riley for 28 years. Mr. Harris was united in marriage to Yvonne on August 24, 1984, in Germany at the courthouse and spent time in Germany, Kileen, Texas, and Junction City, Kansas. Betty Louise Frotscher, 78, of Manhattan, passed away Monday, April 5th, at her daughter's home in Manhattan. Betty made friends with many people while working as a Salad Chef at the Hoildome and as a cashier in dietetics at Mercy Hospital. Betty was born in Webster City, Iowa on July 12, 1942, the daughter of the late Ruth Hill (Peterson) and Everett Hill. She was the wife of Robert Frotscher who survives at the home. Betty would spend as much time as possible at the WaterColor studio with her friend's painting. She enjoyed creating miniature artwork. She drew and painted some of the most amazing animals. Betty spent most of her time with her family, as her family was everything to her. Her love for her family and others was made known in everything she did. Betty is survived by her husband; two daughters, Sandi Wingfield, of Manhattan; Vickie Jo Jensen, of California; two sisters, Sandra Yates, of McMinnville, Oregon; Shirley Anderson, of Boone, Iowa and a brother, Gary Hill, of Missouri. Also, surviving are three grandchildren, Julius Merritt, Destiny Wingfield and Elena Jensen-Volak . She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Gayla Ahrens. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8th at Carlson's Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home &amp; Cremation in Manhattan. William "Bill" Sesler, 88, of Manhattan, KS passed away Friday, March 2, 2021 at the Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan.&nbsp;

Stanley Ray Gauntt, 71, of Junction City passed from this life on April 2, 2021 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS.

Stan was born on September 16, 1949 in Manhattan, KS to Herb and Esther (Lynn) Gauntt.  Stan was their firstborn named after famed St. Louis Cardinal Stan Musial.  He graduated high school at Junction City High School in 1967 and then attended Sterling College where he obtained a teaching degree.  In 1973 he taught 5th and 6th grade science at Lincoln School in Junction City.  Afterwards Stan ventured to southern California and spent the majority of his adult life there as an interior designer along with the occasional teaching assignment at UCLA and USC.

Stan returned to Junction City in 2009 and lived there until his passing.  Stan worked at Home Lumber &amp; Decor until 2018 and since worked delivering meals for the Geary County Senior Center.

Stan also served as a volunteer in many areas during his time in Junction City.  Those include serving as treasurer for the Junction City Arts Council, serving on the board for the Junction City Opera House, and on the elder board at First Presbyterian Church in Junction City. 

Stan was known by many for his pleasant disposition, his fondness for all types of fancy cars, his family, and most notably his black labrador Riley. He loved giving gifts, especially those of the white elephant variety.  He often took great pleasure in dressing up in unique ways for various holidays. He was very sensitive to anyone that may feel uncomfortable and went out of his way to make them feel at ease.

Stan was preceded in death by both of his parents Herb in 2003 and his mother Esther in 2017.  He is survived by his 3 brothers - John Gauntt of Topeka, Jeff Gauntt of Gardner, and Bryan Gauntt of Topeka along with his aunt Diana Gauntt of Atchison, plus many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service honoring Stan's life is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 12 at First Presbyterian Church in Junction City with visitation of family one hour prior at 10:00 AM. Masks are required inside the building.  There will not be a graveside service.

Memorial contributions can be made to the First Presbyterian Church and delivered there either in person or by mail.
