Jasper “Junior” Boggs, Jr., 93, of Manhattan, KS, passed away on May 8, 2025, at Stoneybrook Assisted Living in Manhattan. Born November 23, 1931 at Roxana, Letcher County, Kentucky, Junior was the youngest of 10 children born to Jasper and Mahala (Maggard) Boggs.

“Junior” enlisted in the Ohio National Guard and was activated in May of 1953 to serve his country during the Korean War, as a Mortar Specialist. While stationed at Fort Riley, he met and married Leona Ruby (Stilley) on April 25, 1955, in Manhattan, KS. Corporal Jasper Boggs Jr. was honorably discharged from United States Army Reserves in May 1961.

He enjoyed anything in the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a devoted Christian and supporter of Pottawatomie County law enforcement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and infant son Charles Lee Boggs; 9 siblings: Lester, Susan, Mary, William, Rosie, Sam, Cora, Joe, and Boyd.

“Junior” is survived by six children: Dale (DD) Boggs, of Wamego; David (Donna) Boggs, of Texas, Sharon (Dana) Wahl, of Wamego, James (Lori) Boggs of Wamego, Mark (Lorrie) Boggs of Kentucky, and Jay (Melissa) Boggs of Florida, 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, and nephews.

Interment will be at the Louisville Cemetery, Louisville, KS.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Carlson's Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home and Cremation.

SFC (RET) Martin "Marty" John Wanecek, 94, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Valley View Senior Life Center in Junction City, Kansas.

A private graveside service with full military honors will be held at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery.

Martin was born August 22, 1930, in Covert, Michigan the son of Frank and Helen (Shimanek) Wanecek.

Martin served in the United States Army until his retirement. He joined the Army at the age of seventeen. He loved serving in the Army and traveling with his family. Martin enjoyed woodworking and target practice in the desert.

On October 31, 1949 he married Luise Bacher. She passed away May 17, 1996.

Martin is survived by one son, Frank Wanecek of Junction City, Kansas; two Daughters, Helen K. Williams of Junction City, Kansas and Diana Sandoval of Hinesville, Georgia; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Leta Faye King (née Kramer), 68, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025.

A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Junction City on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

Leta was born on November 8, 1956, in Junction City to Elmer and Leona Kramer, and was proud to call the city her lifelong home. She dedicated many years of service to the City of Junction City, working at the airport before stepping away from her career due to health reasons. She then returned home to focus on what she cherished most: caring for her family.

A devoted mother to Jasmine, Michelle, and Emily, and a beloved grandmother and "bonus mom" to many, Leta had a boundless capacity for love and kindness. She adored babysitting and was a familiar, welcoming face to countless children — especially her grandchildren — after school from nearby Sheridan Elementary.

Leta was endlessly creative, with hobbies including gardening, sewing, painting, and crafting. She had a special passion for up-cycling and re-purposing old items into something beautiful and useful. Before leaving the workforce, she studied to become an EMT, driven by her deep desire to help others.

A lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Leta’s faith and generosity shaped the way she lived. She was known for her&nbsp;

joyful smile, compassionate spirit, and legendary hugs. Her love extended not only to people but also to her cherished cats, dogs, and grand-dogs.

Leta was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Leona Kramer, and her nephew, Joshua Kramer, and her two best friends, Wanda Coleman and Sylvia Niemczyk.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney Dean King; her daughters, Jasmine Stewart (Mike), Michelle King, and Emily King; and her beloved grandchildren: Audrienna, Alaina, Colton, and Julian. She is also survived by her siblings: Sybil Kramer, Annette Kramer, Janice Kramer, Judy (Jerry) Palmer, Alvin (Mary Menard) Kramer, and Ron (Kathy) Kramer. Robert Joseph “Joe” Hood, 81, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Thursday (May 1, 2025) at his home.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Born January 24, 1944 in Wamego, Kansas, Joe was the son of Robert Joseph and Isabelle (Seele) Hood Sr. He married Patricia L. Eckart on July 9, 1966 in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Wamego.&nbsp; She survives.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Joe was a 1962 graduate of Wamego High School.&nbsp; He had a long career in sales starting with the Allis-Chalmers Implement Company in Topeka and later became self employed in auto sales in the Wamego area.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Joe was a member of the Wamego Senior Citizens.&nbsp; He had a soft spot in his heart for his pet cats “Willie” &amp; “Breezy” and was an avid “car guy” who loved the older cars, especially his 1957 Chevy.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Patricia; four sisters in law, Sister Rosann Eckart O. S. B. of Atchison, KS, Catherine Ukena of Manhattan, KS, Mary Weeking (Jim) of Lenexa, KS and Annette Pierce of Wamego, KS; five brothers in law, John Eckart (Sandy) of Carmichael, CA, Stephen Eckart (Sue) of Versailles, MO, James Eckart (Betty) of&nbsp; Longmont, CO, Michael Eckart (Mary Lou) of Lynnwood, MO and Benedict Eckart (Jane) of Manhattan, KS; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A proud graduate of Manhattan High School's Class of 1964, Nancy pursued her interest in finance by taking courses at Kansas State University, which lead to 33 years of employment as a Collections Specialist, there. Her loyalty reflected a lifelong commitment.&nbsp;

Faith was the cornerstone of Nancy's life. She led the prayer group through her church, Keats Lydia chapel and sang in the church choir. Nancy was an active volunteer at her local food basket, offering time and care to those in need. Her deep knowledge of the Bible inspired those around her. Nancy loved cooking, baking and sewing. She also had a passion for genealogy and spent countless hours tracing her family history with curiosity and devotion.&nbsp;

Nancy shared 57 devoted years of marriage with her husband, Cris Backman and is also remembered by their only child, son, Scott E. Backman. Nancy also leaves a sister, Lynn (Byrd) Holtman, brother Rodney Byrd, niece Carrie Lewis, grandchildren, Dallas Backman, Alexa (Backman) Hughey and 2 great grandchildren, Josephine and Preston Hughey. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Marguerite "Peggy" Byrd, as well as three siblings; Dennis, DeAnne and Norma.&nbsp;

Susan J. (Humphreys) Blackford, age 69, passed away unexpectedly April 25, 2025, at her home in Manhattan, KS. Susan was born January 22, 1956, to parents Kenneth L. Sr and Thelma E. (Macomber) Humphreys, in Emporia, KS. She graduated from Emporia High School in 1974.

Susan is survived by her sister Mary (Louis) Lowery, Dickson, TN; her brother Sam (Lynn) Humphreys, Emporia, KS; sister-in-law Jan Blackford (Pat) Dukes, Oklahoma City, OK; nieces: Michelle (Todd) Vermilyea, Dickson, TN; Lisa Lowery, Dickson, TN; Sunnin (John) Keosybounheuang, Emporia, KS; Serrell Humphreys, Kansas City, MO; Samantha (Luke) Rhoads, Emporia, KS and nephews Mike (Alice) Lowery, Leon, KS; Jason (Diane) Lowery, Augusta, KS; Dusty (Amanda) Humphreys, Emporia, KS; Jason (Meredith) Dukes, Yukon, OK; many cousins, great nieces and great nephews.

She met her husband Joseph Blackford II while they were employed as Park Rangers at Fall River State Park in Fall River, KS. They were united in marriage on October 9, 1983.

Susan obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology and her Master’s degree in Cartography. She worked in McPherson, KS, as a Cartographer for several years. She and Joe moved to Manhattan, KS, where she worked as a Biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service until her retirement. She was involved in a number of clubs and organizations over the years, including the Prairie Falcon Northern Flint Hills Audubon Society as the Committee Chair for the Butterfly Garden, The Widows Circle as well as many others that reflected her wide-ranging interests and generous spirit. She charitably gave her time to a number of causes, including Prairie Paws Animal Shelter, among many other organizations that benefited from her dedication and compassion.

Susan had a deep love for the outdoors, finding joy and peace in nature. Whether hiking, birding, kayaking, bike riding, walking her beloved dogs, Punkin and Monkey by Milford Lake or simply enjoying the beauty of a sunrise or sunset, she felt most at home surrounded by the natural world.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Joe II and their dogs, Punkin and Monkey; her parents, Kenneth Sr. and Thelma Humphreys; her brother, Kenneth Humphreys, Jr. and her parents-in-law, Joseph I and Jeanne Blackford.

Dorothy Ann Dyer, age 88, of Manhattan, passed away Friday April 25, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.

She was born on April 3, 1937, in Manhattan, the daughter of Dean and Katherine (Marks) Blasing. Dorothy grew up in the Ogden area. She attended Seven Dolors Grade School and then Sacred Heart High School and graduated with the class of 1955. After graduating she attended Kansas State University and earned her bachelor’s degree.

Dorothy worked at Putnam Hall at KSU in housing and dining services and later at the Entomology Department. In 1983 she became an accountant for the Kansas Wheat Commission and worked there until she retired in 1999.

Dorothy was married to Ralph McHugh. They were blessed with five children. She and Ralph later divorced.

She was united in marriage to Eldon Dyer on September 10, 1999. Dorothy and Eldon enjoyed traveling the country in their RV and camping all over the country. Eldon preceded her in death on October 18, 2015.

Dorothy enjoyed going square dancing, she loved to do embroidery, she made many baptismal shawls for the church families over the years. When she was able to have some time to read a delightful book. Her family was so important to her. Dorothy loved being with her kids and grandkids as often as she could. She attended as many of the kids and grandkids sporting events and activities as she could, trying not to miss any of them.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Cecilia, Larry, and Mary Kay.

Dorothy Ann Dyer, age 88, of Manhattan, passed away Friday April 25, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan.She was born on April 3, 1937, in Manhattan, the daughter of Dean and Katherine (Marks) Blasing. Dorothy grew up in the Ogden area. She attended Seven Dolors Grade School and then Sacred Heart High School and graduated with the class of 1955. After graduating she attended Kansas State University and earned her bachelor’s degree.Dorothy worked at Putnam Hall at KSU in housing and dining services and later at the Entomology Department. In 1983 she became an accountant for the Kansas Wheat Commission and worked there until she retired in 1999.Dorothy was married to Ralph McHugh. They were blessed with five children. She and Ralph later divorced.She was united in marriage to Eldon Dyer on September 10, 1999. Dorothy and Eldon enjoyed traveling the country in their RV and camping all over the country. Eldon preceded her in death on October 18, 2015.Dorothy enjoyed going square dancing, she loved to do embroidery, she made many baptismal shawls for the church families over the years. When she was able to have some time to read a delightful book. Her family was so important to her. Dorothy loved being with her kids and grandkids as often as she could. &nbsp; Roger K. Freeman was born in Junction City, Kansas July 16, 1957 the son of Ivan and Mary Lou (Curran) Freeman. He passed away April 25, 2025 at his home. He grew up in the Chapman community and graduated from Chapman High School. After graduation he worked for Walker Stone, after working for Walker Stone he moved to Gotebo, Oklahoma and drove for Squire Trucking.Following his time in Oklahoma he returned to Chapman and again worked for Walker Stone as a rock truck driver. He had also worked at the Chapman Coop and then drove a loader for Bayer construction. He also worked at Freeman Farms as well as a motor grader operator for Noble Township.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter Courtney Laun of Abilene and his son Kevin (Lindsey) Freeman of Dodge City, Kansas as well as his sister Tammy Riffel (Ryan) of Hope brother Jeff Freeman of Chapman and six grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.Roger enjoyed fishing and collecting toy tractors and oil lamps. He could often be found tinkering with old tractors in his shop but one of his greatest joys was picking on his grandchildren and feeding and watching birds.

&nbsp; Jo Ann (Scott) Davis passed at her home Thursday, April 25, 2025.She was born on June 15,1936 in Benton, Arkansas to Elmer Edell Scott and Irma Evangeline (Davidson) Scott. They moved to Hope, Kansas when she was one year old, where she grew up on the family farm.She attended Mr. Ayr grade school until her eighth-grade graduation. She graduated from Hope High School in 1954. She then graduated from Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina, Kansas. After graduation she worked for the State Soil Conservation Service.

She married Calvin Dee Davis on May 12, 1956. They were married for 66 years. They had 3 daughters.Jo Ann’s joy was raising her family. She was very involved in her children’s activities. She was a 4-H foods leader, FHA chapter mother and attended hundreds of sporting events. Her house was “the house” for the “country girls” to go to before ballgames for a meal. Her family spent many weekends camping at the lake. Later she enjoyed all her grandchildren’s events also. She was also a caregiver to many family members. 

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hope. Jo Ann was a charter member of the Hope Saddle Club. She and Ardis McMahan created and led the drill team of the saddle club. In retirement, Jo Ann and Calvin took many trips to Branson, MO, where they camped with a group of friends.Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband Calvin Dee Davis, Grandson Dustin Sandow, brother and sister-in-law Bill and Laurel (Plank) Scott.She is survived by daughters Brenda (Mark) Meuli, Becky (Dave) Drury, Bobbie (Jeff) Hostetter. 13 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren.

&nbsp; Paul Joseph Schmitt, 91, of Abilene, Kansas, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025. He was born on March 16, 1934, in Kinsley, Kansas, to Alfons N. and Hildegard J. Schmitt.After graduating from Kinsley High School, Paul joined the Army in 1953 and served 2 1/2 years. Paul met his future wife Iris Mae Truan of Walker, KS, at a cousin’s wedding and married Iris on September 7, 1957. The Schmitt family moved to Abilene in 1967. They raised three sons, Steven P., Michael D., and Gregory L. They were married 67 years.

Paul enjoyed a long career in the USDA’s Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) where he served as District Director of 13 counties in Kansas. He always had a great interest in agriculture and farming, so it was a fitting career. Paul retired from the ASCS after 34 years and spent many of his retired years as a crop adjustor for various insurance companies. Paul also served on the Board of Directors at Abilene Memorial Hospital for several years.

Paul loved the outdoors and had many hobbies, which included wood working, golf, hunting, fishing, trap shooting, bird dogs and field trials, gardening and roses, just to name a few. He was always busy and preferred to stay active.Paul’s true love was his family and grandchildren. He never passed up an opportunity to get together with family and friends and was available to lend advice or help, if needed. Paul was a member of the St. Andrews Catholic Church and had a deep faith.Paul is preceded in death by his son Michael, parents, brothers Harold, Alfred and LaVern, and sister Jane. He is survived by his wife, Iris of Abilene, brother Charles, sister Phyllis, sons Steven (Sonnie) of Olathe, KS, Gregory (Lisa) of Fleming Island, FL and daughter in law Leona Schmitt (John Tomich) of Auroa, CO, and grandchildren Samantha, Garrett, Skyler (Sydnee), Makayla, Connor, Bryson and Troy.

&nbsp; Anita (Rickenbach) Gilkey found rest on April 23, 2025, in the home of her oldest daughter, Patsy, after many years battling her health. She was born in Chadron, NE, to Max and True Rickenbach on December 24, 1943.Anita grew up alongside her two brothers, Rick and Bob, on a ranch north of Oelrichs, SD. She attended all her school years in Oelrichs where she met her high school sweetheart, Pat Gilkey. She and Pat were married on December 11, 1964. They had two daughters, Patsy in 1968 and Jodi in 1973. During their early married years, they moved to other areas and tried different careers, but the love of ranching brought them back to the Rickenbach ranch. 

They spent nearly 50 years farming and ranching north of Oelrichs.After finishing her degree at Chadron State College, she put it to good use at several different jobs in her life - including the VA, Montgomery Wards, Hubbard Milling Company, and Fall River County Courthouse. Her proudest work accomplishment was being elected Register of Deeds for Fall River County after many years working at the courthouse. She retired as Register of Deeds after 23 years of service to Fall River County.After retiring she divided her time between South Dakota and Kansas, attending as many events as she could with her grandkids. 

She moved to Kansas soon after her brain surgery where Patsy, Don and their kids helped her through her numerous health battles. Her love for the ranch and Fall River County never left her. She continued to talk about getting back to the ranch and having cows even in her final days. Anita was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit and providing love and support to those around her. She loved her family and friends above all else. She fought through many tough battles to reach family milestones. She is remembered for her sweet tooth, her silly laugh, snapping her gum, her bell collection, and the endless hours she spent playing solitaire.

Anita leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth and unwavering compassion. Left on this earth to live out her legacy are her daughters, Patsy (Don) LaMothe of Abilene, KS; Jodi (Shawn) Banzhaf of Pheonix, AZ; grandkids Ashley (Cory) Stoneberger of Vassar, KS; Zach (Nicky) Banzhaf of Chadron, NE; Jenna Phillips of Chattanooga, TN; bonus grandkids Justin LaMothe of Antlers, OK; and Amanda (JT) Fredericks of Abilene, KS; eight great grandkids, and many nieces and nephews.She is also survived by her brother Rick (Marilynne) of Eden Prairie, MN; Sister-in-law Sharon Rickenbach of Chadron, NE; Brother-in-law Vaughn Meyer of Commerce City, CO; and Brother-in-law Barry (Allison) Butler of New South Wales, Australia. Ronald Robert "Ron" Reddy, 75, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Ron was born September 2, 1949, in Syracuse, New York the son of Leonard and Mary Reddy.

Ron served in the United States Marine Corp. He served several tours in Vietnam. He was a POW survivor.

Ron worked Casey Industrial for over forty years. He was a superintendent having managed many people. He had the nickname "Cat Fish" and "Bird Dog" among his employees. He loved his family and adored his granddaughter Rosalie. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outside.

On January 20, 2016, he married Elizabeth Diane Clark in Syracuse, New York.

Survivors include his wife Beth of Junction City, Kansas; one son, Daniel Fenimore of Junction City; one daughter, Katie Fenimore of Junction City, Kansas; one son-in law, Alex; one granddaughter, Rosalie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and one sister.

Richard L. "Rick" Williams, 70, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Wakefield Care and Rehab in Wakefield, Kansas. This date marked the one year anniversary of the passing of his beloved wife Marcia L. Williams who died April 26, 2024.

Cremation will take place. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska.

Rick was born July 18, 1954, in McCook, Nebraska the son of Cecil Richard and Lenore Irene (Brandt) Williams.

Rick worked for Comcast Cable Company as an installer for many years. He also worked as an automotive technician for Sears.

Rick was a devoted hobby person. His hobbies kept him going. He was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast having owned several bikes. His favorite bike was the 1969 Harley Electra Glide. As a rider, he made the trip to Sturgis, South Dakota several times. He also made several toy runs while residing in the State of Washington. He had a passion for woodworking. He was known for his intricate woodworking abilities making inlaid wood items consisting things of nature scenes. To this day, many friends and family members have items that were gifted to them.

Richard L. "Rick" Williams, 70, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Wakefield Care and Rehab in Wakefield, Kansas. This date marked the one year anniversary of the passing of his beloved wife Marcia L. Williams who died April 26, 2024.Cremation will take place. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska.Rick was born July 18, 1954, in McCook, Nebraska the son of Cecil Richard and Lenore Irene (Brandt) Williams.Rick worked for Comcast Cable Company as an installer for many years. He also worked as an automotive technician for Sears.Rick was a devoted hobby person. His hobbies kept him going. He was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast having owned several bikes. His favorite bike was the 1969 Harley Electra Glide. As a rider, he made the trip to Sturgis, South Dakota several times. He also made several toy runs while residing in the State of Washington. He had a passion for woodworking. He was known for his intricate woodworking abilities making inlaid wood items consisting things of nature scenes. To this day, many friends and family members have items that were gifted to them.Survivors include his daughter Nicole Gore and her husband Adam of Junction City, Kansas; four grandchildren, Magnolia, Olivia, Dean and Samuel; his mother, Lenore Williams and one brother, Steven Williams both of Gering, Nebraska.

&nbsp;Lyn was born on October 12, 1956, in Kermit, Texas, to parents Alfred Richard "Dick" and Melba Lee (Bonds) Posey. She met Marne Louis Haller in 1983 and began a life filled with duty to their community and faithfulness to God.

&nbsp;Lyn wore many hats throughout her journey, but her proudest professional achievements came as Activities Director at Alma Manor for over 12 years. There, she spread joy and cared for the residents until life presented her with physical challenges. Prior to this role, she spent many years with the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service.

&nbsp;Lyn’s affectionate nickname, "Nana," was lovingly given to her by her family and the younger generations she warmly welcomed to her home and family. Lyn's hands and spirit were always in service to others, from her active participation in Sunday school and school room mother while raising her children to her devotion as a volunteer at a homeless shelter in Topeka. Her other nickname, “Sneaky,” came from deeds of kindness, so often done quietly and without recognition, that would catch her family by surprise. Lyn’s love for her family was evident in her presence at every special event she could attend, including traveling to Texas to support her nieces and nephews. Let’s not forget her baked goods that earned her a special place in the hearts of those who tasted her yummy desserts.

Otis Arthur Boardman, Sr., 88, of Westmoreland, Kansas, died Thursday, March 27, 2025, at his home.

Otis was born on February 10, 1937, in Summersville, West Virginia, the son of James and Prudence (Brown) Boardman. He attended local schools and then joined and served in the United States Navy.

Otis worked most of his adult life as a welder for the Boilermakers Union. He worked on power plants around the United States.

He married Linda Jo Reid on July 16, 1960, in Junction City. They shared over sixty-four years together and lived in numerous places in Kansas, Louisiana, and Florida. Otis loved to travel, so no matter where they lived, they would explore the country. Linda says she was swept off her feet when they meant with his good-looks and charm. Linda survives him at their home.

Otis also enjoyed antique cars and owned six different Kit Cars. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union 83, in Kansas City, and was an active member of the Masonic Lodge and Shriners. He enjoyed camping, fishing and he loved the time he could spend with his family. He was an outstanding father and grandfather.

Otis is also survived by his daughters; Susan Hollinghead (Jay), Caryn Lloyd (Terry), and Catherine Hensley (Emery); his grandchildren, Sarah Brady, Kristen Gilliland (Jack), Amanda Vathauer (Brady), and James Lloyd; his great-grandchildren, Addison Brady, Ethan Brady, Caitlin Kahrs (Cody), Benjamin Vathauer, Brooks Vathauer, and Raelynn Vathauer; his two great-great grandchildren and four half-sisters; and his brother John Boardman. Otis was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Otis Boardman, Jr., his granddaughter, Alysia Sue Powell, his brother, James Boardman and his sister, Ethel Boardman.

William Coy Liming, 66, also known as Willie, passed away at his home in St. George, Kansas, on April 23, 2024, with his wife, Shari, by his side.

&nbsp;Willie was born in Coffeyville, Kansas, on April 7, 1959, to parents Jimmie Lee and Ida Filena (Hutcheson) Liming.

&nbsp;Willie married Sharon “Shari” Smith on October 22, 1988, in Manhattan, Kansas. They shared their lives for 36 years, enjoyed raising their children, and were a part of their community in St. George. Willie served as a groundskeeper for the City of Wamego for 25 years, retiring in 2017. While serving Wamego, he spearheaded efforts with the yearly Wamego Tulip Festival and was instrumental in building the Christmas light display until his retirement. He was knowledgeable about all types of grass and trees and loved sharing this knowledge with anyone who gave him the time. After retirement, Willie went to work for himself as a landscaper and could be found working outside until his passing.

&nbsp;Willie had a knack for sarcasm, dark humor, and getting a rise out of people. To those who knew him well, his heart was as big as his stubbornness. He was a frequently present figure at his children's sporting and extracurricular events. He was a Scoutmaster for Troop 123, St. George, for 15 years while his sons participated. Additionally, he coached youth sports in St. George for five years.

&nbsp;Willie leaves behind his “bag”, also known, as his wife Shari; their three children Austin (Madie) Liming, Sara (Skylar) Liming King, and Cody (Haley) Liming; two grandchildren, Nora and Atlas; his siblings Violet (Kent) Carter, Sherry (Robert) Garretson, Robert Liming, Greg Allen, Alysia Johnston, Bart Allen, Julia Allen, and Frank Allen; nephews and nieces, Shawn, Brandi, Shiana, Shaun, Mike, Lori, and Brian; and great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.

&nbsp;Willie now joins his parents, both in-laws, brother Larry Liming, sister-in-law Gaylene Liming, and brother Mark Allen. Heaven's landscaping just got an upgrade.

Charles Floyd Pauley passed away peacefully at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, Kansas on April 13, 2025. Floyd was born on March 15, 1936 in Herington, Kansas to Charles Leroy Pauley and Pauline Lucille (Buckman) Pauley.

Floyd attended school in Herington and graduated in 1954. Immediately after graduation, Floyd started working for Rock Island Railroad where he started out as a brakeman and then promoted to Conductor in 1960. He worked for three railroads until 1998 when he retired after 43 and a half years. He worked for Rock Island Railroad, Southern Pacific and finally in 1995 he joined Union Pacific.

In 1955, he joined the United States Army and went to Camp Chaffee in Arkansas for 8 weeks to complete basic training and an additional 8 weeks for more training. From Camp Chaffee, he was then stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma where was got a job working in personnel as a clerk typist. After three months in Fort Sill, he volunteered to go to Germany in 1956 where he was stationed in Frankfurt and was an Officer’s Clerk in the IG Building.

On June 2 of 1957, while in Germany, he met the love of his life Gisela Brattig at the Oberursel swimming pool. He thought she was the most beautiful girl he ever saw. It was LOVE at first sight. He proposed and she said yes. He went to Varel a short time later to meet Gisela’s parents. He did not speak much German but they got along greatly but did not like that Gisela would be going to America. Floyd and Gisela got married on November 6, 1957 in Frankfurt and rented an apartment for one month before they left for the United States. Floyd had to pay for Gisela’s flight since he was only a SP3 and she had to go on her first airplane by herself since they had to fly separately. Gisela stayed with Floyd’s boss’ grandparents in Queens, New York for a week before he was discharged from the military. Floyd was discharged from his service on December 14, 1957 in Chicago where Gisela flew to meet him and they boarded the same flight and flew to Kansas City. From there they boarded a train to Herington and arrived in Herington at around midnight. Needless to say, Gisela felt shocked over how deserted it was when they arrived.

Floyd than returned to work with the railroad on January 1, 1958. Where Gisela had a lot to adjust to since Floyd was gone a lot working for the railroad. Gisela adapted and was able to raise their beautiful and thriving family.

In 1970, Floyd and Gisela took the children to Germany. The first time Gisela’s dad was able to meet them. Her mother was able to come to the United States when Bruce was born, and later when her Dad passed in 1972, her mother was able to visit two more times.

Floyd and Gisela were happily married for 67 years that were filled with love, laughter and beautiful memories.

Floyd is preceded in death by his parents and in-laws.

Floyd is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Gisela and his children; Michael (Vickie) Pauley, Bruce (Kathy) Pauley, Angela (Neal) Barten. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life for Floyd will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 10:30 am in the Meadowlark Hills Chapel located at 2121 Meadowlark Rd, Manhattan KS.

Sandra “Sandy” Rosann Simmons Maike, 78, passed away in the early hours of Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at her home.

Sandy was born on October 29th, 1946, in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the only child of Virgil Simmons and Sylvia Henderson Simmons.

Sandy grew up in and attended schools in Eskridge, Kansas. She graduated from Eskridge High in 1963. Sandy’s first love in life was music. Sandy won State competitions in flute and violin. She also played piano and organ.

On July 8th, 1962, Sandy married John “J.R.” Rau Maike Sr. in Eskridge, KS. J.R. passed at their home in Hessdale, KS., on October 9th, 2011.

Alongside her husband, Sandy helped run multiple family businesses. Some included, Sandy’s Kennel, which was the largest commercial kennel in the United States, Maike Pheasant Farm and Shooting Preserve, and Briarwood Farms LTD, a gourmet food manufacturing company with stores in five malls. She and J.R. were true entrepreneurs.

One of her favorite pastimes was watching her children or grandchildren play sports. She was an animal lover and always had time for her pets. Sandy was an avid reader, a passion that she passed down to many of her children and grandchildren. There were two places that Sandy loved, being at her husband's side and Hawaii, where they spent countless vacations together.

She is preceded in death by her parents, in-laws Adolph and Alice Maike, her daughter-in-law Jackie Maike, and grandson Jordan.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning (April 28, 2025) at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Alma with the Rev. Robert Grimm officiating. Burial will be held in the Swedish Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow.

Sandra “Sandy” Rosann Simmons Maike, 78, passed away in the early hours of Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at her home.Sandy was born on October 29th, 1946, in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the only child of Virgil Simmons and Sylvia Henderson Simmons.Sandy grew up in and attended schools in Eskridge, Kansas. She graduated from Eskridge High in 1963. Sandy’s first love in life was music. Sandy won State competitions in flute and violin. She also played piano and organ.On July 8th, 1962, Sandy married John “J.R.” Rau Maike Sr. in Eskridge, KS. J.R. passed at their home in Hessdale, KS., on October 9th, 2011.Alongside her husband, Sandy helped run multiple family businesses. Some included, Sandy’s Kennel, which was the largest commercial kennel in the United States, Maike Pheasant Farm and Shooting Preserve, and Briarwood Farms LTD, a gourmet food manufacturing company with stores in five malls. She and J.R. were true entrepreneurs.One of her favorite pastimes was watching her children or grandchildren play sports. She was an animal lover and always had time for her pets. Sandy was an avid reader, a passion that she passed down to many of her children and grandchildren. Carl Arthur Tanguay, born on October 7, 1950, embarked on his eternal journey to be with his heavenly Father on April 20, 2025. A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Carl leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strong faith.

A retired Property Management Specialist, for many years at Fort Riley, Kansas, and was also known for his work in Florence Manufacturing in Manhattan, Kansas, where he made mailboxes. His career reflected not only his dedication to his profession but also his commitment to serving his community.

Carl cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his beloved wife, Charlotte Ann Tanguay, with whom he shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. His memory will be forever honored by his daughter, Jennifer Lea Bozarth, and her husband Dwayne. He was a proud grandparent to Kyle A. Bozarth and his wife Sunshine, as well as a cherished brother to his sisters Nancy Maston, Kathy Smith, and Janet Crabtree and her husband Gary. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and a host of friends who were touched by his generous spirit.

Among his many proud accomplishments, Carl was a dedicated member of the Fraternal Order Eagles #830 in Junction City, Kansas. He was known for his unwavering faith as a faithful servant to the Lord and had a unique ability to relate to people, always willing to lend a helping hand.

Carl had a lifelong passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles, which brought him joy and camaraderie with fellow enthusiasts. He also found pleasure in the simple things, such as feeding the birds, reflecting his gentle nature and love for life's little joys.

Carl was predeceased by his father, Raymond H. Tanguay, and mother, Rosita Delector Tanguay, as well as his brother, Richard Tanguay, and sister, Rose Marie Tanguay-Penn. Their memories remain a part of his story as he now rests in peace.

Though Carl Arthur Tanguay has departed from this earthly realm, his spirit and the love he manifested will continue to resonate with all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his light will shine in the hearts of his family and friends.

&nbsp; Jack F. Drummond Jr. Of Abilene passed away April 17, 2025 at his home. Jack was born February 19, 1953 in Ft. Campbell, KY the son of Jack F Drummond Sr. And Luella (Stoneberger) Drummond.Jack grew up in the Enterprise community and spent countless hours fishing the Smoky Hill River that he grew up next to. Jack had a love of fishing that he shared with his children and grandchildren. Jack served his country in the United States Navy and served a tour of duty in Vietnam. On December 9, 1977 he married Sue Whiteley. Jack and Sue have three children; daughters Jamie Gay and Sarah Drummond and one son Eric Drummond as well as 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Jack loved to be outdoors, wether it was gardening or barbecuing or just spending time with his family.Jack is survived by his wife and children as well as his sisters Mary Francis and Kay Hyde and brothers Larry and Tim Drummond. Kenneth Gerard Mohr passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025 with loved ones by his side. Ken was born to the late Clarence Mohr and Arlene Mohr on August 25, 1965. All through his life, he had a passion for fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. He was able to spend plenty of time outdoors hunting and fishing in between chores while growing up on the family farm by the Smoky HIll River. His life on the farm in his younger years cultivated his love for gardening as an adult, as he built a large raised bed garden in the backyard of his Springfield home.

He began his college career at Kansas State, then transferred to Washburn University where he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting. He remained a loyal Wildcat fan after leaving KSU.

Ken was a humble man who lead a simple life, always reaching out to help those in need. He had a strong work ethic and wasn't one to take responsibility lightly, continuing to work full time as the HyVee Deli Manager in Springfield even while undergoing cancer treatment.

He and his love, Audrey, were married for 11 years. The two of them enjoyed going to auctions while living in Topeka and finding a new flea market to explore. He cherished the time spent with his step-grandchildren, whether it was going fishing, walking at the Bass Pro Shop aquarium or riding the coasters at Silver Dollar City. He thoroughly enjoyed being their “Peepaw”.

Ken leaves behind his loving wife - Audrey Mohr, his mother - Arlene Mohr, siblings - Chris Mohr (Jeanette), Jerry Mohr (Carla), Beth Prendergast (David), eight nieces and nephews and one great-niece. His step-children-Dale Giermann Jr. (Megan), Sara Tressler (Joe), Lacy Giermann. Grandchildren-Stratton, Ari, Scarlett, Sutton and Charlie his dog.
