KANSAS CITY —Deputies arrested their Most Wanted suspect Friday evening, which led to an assault on a Sheriff’s Office canine and multiple deputies requiring medical attention, according to a media release from the Clay County Missouri Sheriff.

Deputies had been trying to take 54-year-old Eric E. Frazer into custody since December, when he failed to appear in court for drug trafficking charges. He also failed to appear for a Valentine’s Law charge for fleeing a lawful stop. In just the last month, he fled from deputies two additional times. The Sheriff’s Office placed him on its Most Wanted list on April 22.

Investigation revealed Frazer was at a relative’s home in the 16,800 block of Ragsdale Road at about 6 p.m. May 1. The relatives exited the home and allowed deputies to go inside to apprehend Frazer. Deputies deployed a drone for an initial search of the house, and after seeing nothing, went inside with K9 Argos. 

Argos directed them to a bathroom that had an opening to the attic. The drone showed Frazer hiding in the attic, but he refused to come out. Deputies did not know whether he was armed. After several warnings to Frazer, K9 Argos went into the attic to assist with the apprehension.

Frazer fought Argos, lying on top of him and forcing his head into the sheetrock, then pulling hard on the leash around his neck, causing the leash line to break. Fearing for everyone’s safety, deputies in the living room below cut a hole in the ceiling to get Argos and Frazer out. Argos fell through, with one deputy able to catch him just enough to break his fall. Deputies then pulled Frazer down. After being treated for his bite wounds at the hospital, Frazer is now in custody at the Clay County Detention Center with no bond. In addition to his original warrants, Frazer is charged with Felony aggravated fleeing a stop Felony resisting arrest Misdemeanor assault on a law enforcement animal (Max's Law), Four misdemeanor charges of assault on law enforcement

The Clay County Prosecutor’s Office states this is the first time they have filed a charge under Max’s Law, which became effective in Missouri in August 2024. The law makes it a crime to injure or kill a police animal.

K9 Argos’ handler immediately took him to Long Veterinary Hospital to be evaluated for injuries and treated for inhaling insulation. Four deputies also had to be evaluated and treated at the hospital for various minor injuries sustained during the apprehension.

Wanted suspect injured Sheriff's K9 during arrest

SALINE COUNTY —A Kansas woman who was arrested for a fatal hit-and-run crash on a rural Saline County road in August of 2025 entered a no contest plea during a court appearance on Monday..

Kayla Errebo, 33, Lorraine, did not admit to the guilt, but accepted the conviction of Second-Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery.

The murder charge was for killing&nbsp;Deanna "June" Sommerfeld, and the aggravated battery charge was for seriously injuring Mark Sommerfeld after the&nbsp;head-on collision&nbsp;on August 8, 2025.&nbsp;

Charges such as Improper Driving on a laned roadway, Violation of duty as a driver,&nbsp;Circumvention of ignition interlock device and Reckless Driving were reportedly dropped as part of the plea.

Moreover, Errebo's grandfather Dennis Katzenmeier was accused with Obstruction, after he picked up Errebo from the deadly crash scene. Charges against him were dismissed in April.

Errebo' sentencing is scheduled for&nbsp;July 10&nbsp;at&nbsp;9:00 am.

Errebo also plead guilty back on October 2024 for&nbsp;<a href="https://salinapost.com/posts/fca0f97b-593e-429a-8d0d-ebba84210fe7">fleeing and eluding law enforcement, driving under the influence (DUI) and leaving the scene of an accident.</a>

Plea deal for Kansas woman in deadly head-on crash

BROWN COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating two suspect on multiple allegations after an incident at a Kansas home.

Just before 7p.m. May1, deputies responded to 1288 Fern Road on a report of a verbal domestic incident, according to Sheriff John Merchant.

Upon initial investigation, deputies applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence. Upon conclusion of the warrant, Kayla Shopteese 18, Horton was arrested on requested charges of Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia&nbsp; and Contributing to a Child's Misconduct.&nbsp; 

Also arrested was Jadake Pewamo, 24, Horton on requested charges of furnishing alcohol to minor, Contributing to a child's misconduct, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The Kickapoo police department assisted with the investigation.

Deputies found drugs, booze and kids at a Kansas home

BARTON COUNTY —A motion filed Monday in Barton County District Court seeks to try a 14-year-old boy as an adult in connection with the death of 14-year-old Rubi Perez.

Perez, an eighth-grade student at Great Bend Middle School, was reported missing April 8 and found dead the following day. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding her death.

The juvenile suspect is charged with first-degree murder. According to court filings, prosecutors are requesting the case be moved to adult court, a step that would make the suspect’s identity public if granted.

Last week, a district court judge reopened the case to public access after it had previously been sealed by another judge.

Because the suspect is a minor, his name is not being released.

Just&nbsp; 8:30p.m. April 8,&nbsp; police responded to a call of a missing 14-year-old girl, according to a media release from Great Bend Police. The girl was last reported to have been attending a class at Holy Family School located at 4200 Broadway Avenue in Great Bend.

Great Bend Police Officers fielded multiple calls regarding potential locations and areas where the missing girl could possibly be located, but she was not found.

Just after 9a.m. April 9, Great Bend Police Officers responded to the 4700 block of 17th Street Terrace in Great Bend where the body of a girl, later identified as Perez, was located behind a large dirt pile. She was determined to be deceased.

Investigators and Officers processed the crime scene, conducted numerous interviews, and executed multiple search warrants.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested and transported to the Barton County Detention Center on requested charges of 1st Degree Murder.

The Great Bend Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Barton County Sheriff's Office, The Kansas Bureau of Investigation, and the Great Bend Fire Department.

Upon arrival, a male victim was located inside the home. He was transported to an area hospital where he later died.   Detectives are currently speaking with a person of interest. Police have not reported an arrest.

EDMOND, Okla. (AP) — A shooting at a party at a lake near Oklahoma City sent at least 13 people to hospitals, according to police and hospital officials.

Edmond police spokesperson Emily Ward said authorities received reports of shots being fired at about 9 p.m. Sunday at a gathering of young people near Arcadia Lake. She said late Sunday that no arrests had been made yet.

“This is obviously a very terrifying situation and we understand the concern from the public and those involved and we are working extremely hard to find the suspects,” she said.

“We’re kind of all over the metro speaking with victims and witnesses,” Ward said.

She said that 10 people were taken to hospitals and others drove themselves. She said victims were in “various conditions.”

Police did not immediately respond to an email seeking information early Monday.

Ten people were at Integris Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City and three were at Integris Health Edmond Hospital as of Monday morning, according to a hospital system spokesperson.

While police did not provide details about the party, a flyer seen on social media after the shooting suggested that an event called Sunday Funday had been scheduled near the lake Sunday evening.

Arcadia Lake, located around 13 miles (21 kilometers) north of Oklahoma City, is an artificial reservoir used for flood control that is also a popular recreational spot that offers fishing, boating, picnicking and camping. It's located in Edmond, an Oklahoma City suburb with about 100,000 residents.

Forty years ago, Edmond was the site of one of the deadliest workplace shootings in U.S. history. On Aug. 20, 1986, postal worker Patrick Sherrill shot 20 co-workers, killing 14 of them. He then killed himself.

At least 13 injured in mass shooting at Oklahoma lake party

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement investigating another homicide in Wichita have made an arrest.

Just before 6:30p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to a shooting at a&nbsp; business in the 900 Block of South Seneca, according to Officer Kris Gupilan.&nbsp; First responders found a shooting victim lying in the parking lot of the Lost Sock Laundromat.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Officers began life saving measures until EMS arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary information indicates the suspect confronted the victim in the parking lot prior to the shooting. Investigators believe this was a targeted incident and not a random act of violence, according to Gupilan.

Investigators and officers continued following leads throughout the evening and at 8:20 a.m., Sunday, Wichita Police SWAT team executed an arrest warrant in the 1800 &nbsp;block of S. Euclid and took the suspect identified in county booking records as 26-year-old Ronntreal M. Golston into custody.&nbsp;

Police have not released the name of the victim.&nbsp; Golston is being held on requested charges of murder in the first degree, intentional and premeditated.

Just after noon April 30, a sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan Rogue on U.S. 75 near 222nd Road&nbsp; for an alleged traffic infraction, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

Margaret Ann Thomas, 46, of Havensville, was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a hallucinogenic drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without insurance.

Kansas woman accused of transporting methamphetamine

NORTON COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating four suspects on drug allegations.

A multi-month drug investigation by police in Norton identified and disrupted a network responsible for distributing illegal drugs in the city of Norton, according to a media release from Norton Police. Search warrants were executed by police and deputies from the Norton County Sheriff's office resulting in the seizure of multiple controlled substances, drug paraphernalia and other evidence associated with drug distribution activity.

Police arrested 45-year-old Stephanie Cookson; 40-year-old Savanna Borden; 23-year-old Haley Tallent all of Norton and 27-year-old Joshua Hanson of McCook, Nebraska.&nbsp;

 All four face charges filed through the Norton County District Court.

Police: 4 accused of selling illegal drugs in NW Kansas 

FRANKLIN COUNTY&nbsp;– The Kansas Bureau of Investigation released the name of&nbsp; the suspect in an officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday evening in Ottawa, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The suspect is identified as Zachary Pule, 33, of Coffeyville, Kansas. Pule was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. No shots were fired by law enforcement during the course of the incident.

​At approximately 5:30 p.m., Friday, law enforcement officers from the Ottawa Police Department Special Tactics and Rescue Team, a combined unit of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Ottawa Police Department, attempted to serve a warrant on a homicide suspect out of Kansas City, Missouri. The warrant was&nbsp;being served at a multi-unit residence in the 500 block of South Locust Street in Ottawa, according to a media release from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

​During the initial approach, the suspect fired from within the residence, striking an Ottawa police officer. The officer sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported by ambulance to a Kansas City area hospital, where he is being treated and is expected to recover.

​Officers did not return fire during the encounter. They established containment and transitioned the incident into a barricaded subject operation. The Ottawa Police Department Special Tactics and Rescue Team&nbsp;was later relieved by tactical teams from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI.

​At approximately 9:40 p.m., the tactical teams made entry into the apartment. They located the suspect deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No shots were fired by law enforcement during the course of the incident.

This independent investigation aims to discover all events leading up to the officer-involved shooting. In police use of force cases, the KBI releases details to the public as soon as possible. Suspect in Kansas officer shooting had a history of crime

TREGO COUNTY —A northwest Kansas detention deputy is under investigation for a conspiracy to commit murder.

A probable cause affidavit alleges Trego County Detention Deputy, 42-year-old Jerry Jervah, Jr. conspired with inmates held at the Trego County Jail to murder in inmate held in a separate facility on pending charges, according to a media release from the Trego County Attorney.

Jervah is now no longer an employee of Trego County, following his arrest. Jervah is being held in Sherman County awaiting a bond hearing.

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a shooting that injured three people and have captured a suspect identified as 26-year-old Devonte Parker, of Wichita

Parker is accused in connection with the April 11 shooting of three people who were inside a home in the 2500 block of East 25th Street North in Wichita, according to a media release from Wichita Police.

On April 28, investigators presented the case to the Sedgwick County District Attorney, who charged Parker with discharge at an occupied residence resulting in great bodily harm, discharge at an occupied vehicle, aggravated assault, and three counts of aggravated battery.

On April 30, Parker was taken into custody without incident.

“From the beginning, I said we would leave no stone unturned to hold the person responsible for this act accountable,” Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan said. “This arrest reflects the hard work, focus, and persistence of our investigators, crime analysts, officers, Crime Scene Investigators, and professional staff, who worked to build a strong case and move it forward for prosecution. This was a blatant and senseless act of violence that put innocent people in danger inside a home, where they should have been safe. Suspect captured days after shooting 3 inside Kansas home

JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. —Law enforcement are investigating a registered Kansas drug offender on new allegations after a traffic stop.

Just after 4p.m. on April 28, a sheriff's deputy arrested a man near Mayetta for multiple offender registration violations, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

Brexton Everett, 33, of Topeka, who had been driving a 2006 Buick Rendezvous, was taken into custody and transported to the Jackson County Jail. Everett was booked on 14 counts of aggravated offender registration violations and two counts of offender registration violations.

Registered Kansas offender jailed on new allegations

SALINE COUNTY —A 13-year-old Kansas boy is in juvenile detention after he crashed his mother's car in Salina.

Early Friday, police attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Marcella Drive in Salina for an alleged traffic violation, according to Salina Police Captain James Feldman.&nbsp; The 13-year old driver did not comply and drove away.

During the pursuit, the boy lost control of the vehicle and struck a traffic pole on south 9th Street. After the crash, the boy ran from the vehicle. Officers were able to locate and arrest him along the east portion of Sam's Club, 2919 Market Place.

The boy appeared to be intoxicated, according to Feldman and was transported to Salina Regional Health Center for a medical screening and DUI testing.&nbsp; The boy was very uncooperative and struck a hospital security guard.&nbsp;

Police then transported the boy to the Juvenile Detention Center in Junction City where he is being held on a requested charge of DUI.

Police confirmed the boy was driving his mother's vehicle.

RILEY COUNTY—A registered Kansas offender is in custody on numerous new allegations after an arrest.

Just after 2:30p.m. Thursday police arrested 29-year-old&nbsp;Elijah James Smith of Manhattan, on requested charges that include four counts of violating the offender registration act, two counts of perjury and one count of aggravated violation of the offender registration act, according to the Riley County Police Department activity report.

Smith has been listed as a registered violent offender since a felony aggravated assault conviction in Shawnee County in 2018, according to the KBI offender registry.

Smith remains jailed on a bond of $40,000.

RILEY COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a dispute involving a delivery driver in Manhattan.

Just before 4:30p.m. Thursday, a 47-year-old DoorDash delivery driver reported a 23-year-old man pointed a gun at him in the 500 Block of North Manhattan Avenue, according to the Riley County Police Department activity report.&nbsp;The 23-year-old man reported that the 47-year-old delivery driver brandished a knife. Both are listed as victims and suspects in this report.

Police did not report an arrest or if the driver completed the delivery.

Anthony Irby, 44, Wichita is scheduled to learn his fate in the courtroom of Judge Kathleen Watson.

On April 23, Irby, pleaded no contest&nbsp; to aggravated battery, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office. Charges of criminal possession of a weapon and interference with law enforcement were dismissed,

Just after 8:30 a.m. Sunday, September 21, 2025, a 62-year-old male victim from Wichita walked to Fire Station #2 with a gunshot wound to the leg, according to a media release from police. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and is expected to survive.&nbsp;

Patrol officers responded rapidly and located the suspect identified as Anthony Irby of Wichita, according to Sedgwick County arrest records. Irby was nearby and attempted to flee on a bicycle. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.

The investigation revealed that the suspect and victim were involved in an argument over property when the shooting occurred. Irby was originally booked into jail on requested charges of aggravated battery, criminal possession of a weapon and interference with law enforcement, according to online records.

&nbsp;Irby has previous convictions that include&nbsp; rape and aggravated criminal sodomy involving a 10-year-old girl in 2005 and for drug possession, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections. He was released from prison in 2019.&nbsp;

DICKINSON COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on multiple allegations involving child sex crimes.

In January of 2026, a case involving possible child sex crimes that occurred in approximately 2021 was referred to the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office by the Abilene Police Department, according to a media release.

On Tuesday, an investigator with the Sheriff’s Office collected information and initiated an investigation. As a result of the investigation, Alex Tyler Scrivner, 35, of Belleville, Kansas was arrested and booked into the Dickinson County Detention Facility on requested charges of Rape and Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a child.

North central Kansas man accused of violent child sex crimes

CHEYENNE COUNTY –&nbsp;The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) arrested a Cheyenne County emergency dispatcher following an investigation into the physical abuse of children.

​On September 4, 2025, the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office requested KBI assistance after receiving a report of child abuse. ​At the time of the alleged abuse, the mother of the children, Jamie Keeney, 49, of St. Francis, was employed as a dispatcher for Cheyenne County.

While the investigation took place, the children were placed in protective custody.

On Thursday, Keeney and her son, Maxim Quimby, 20, of Goodland, were arrested for alledged child abuse.

​​KBI agents executed two arrest warrants. Keeney was arrested, at approximately 4:30 p.m. in St. Francis, on requested charges that incluide two counts of abuse of a child and two counts of aggravated endangering a child. She was booked into the Rawlins County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

Kansas woman, her son arrested for alleged child abuse

At about 3 a.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to medical call involving a shooting in the 3200 block of East MacArthur Road, according to Sheriff's Department spokesman Branden Stitt.

First responders arrived and found Jesus Merino Terrero, 14, who lived at the home, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Despite life-saving efforts, he died at the scene.

An autopsy has been completed. Detectives continue to investigate the shooting, which remains under investigation to determine what occurred. No arrests have been made at this time, and all parties involved in the incident have been identified.

This was part of an ongoing investigation into drug distribution in Riley County. A search warrant was then executed in the 800 block of Colorado Street. 

Just after 1p.m., JC Hunt, 53, of Grandview Plaza, was arrested on requested charges of distribution of opiate/opium/narcotic/certain stimulant; 3.5-100 grams, possession of opiate/opium/narcotic or certain stimulant, and passion of marijuana. He is being held on a $30,000 bond.&nbsp;Hunt has previous convictions for Voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, DUI, evading a road block and for drugs, according to the Kansas Department of Correctxions.

Just after 7p.m. police arrested Brittanie Michele Vaughn, 31, of Manhattan, on requested charges of use/possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia in the human body and distribution of opiate/opium/narcotic/certain stimulant; 3.5-100 grams. She is being held on a $41,000 bond.

&nbsp;Jimmie Dale Dodson III, 25, of Manhattan, was arrested on requested charges of use/possess with intent to use drug paraphernalia in the human body and possession of opiate/opium/narcotic or certain stimulant. He met the requirement of a $4,000 bond and is no longer in custody.

RILEY COUNTY -Law enforcement are investigating suspect for alleged drug distribution in Riley County.Just after 12:30p.m. Tuesday, police&nbsp;conducted a traffic stop near Irene Circle and Davis Drive in Manhattan, according to the Riley County Police Department activity report.This was part of an ongoing investigation into drug distribution in Riley County.
