KANSAS CITY, KAN.&nbsp;– A Kansas man was sentenced this week to 192 months in federal prison on drug and firearms changes, according to U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister.

Bryan K. Quinley,&nbsp;39, Leavenworth, Kan., pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

In his plea, Quinley admitted he had more than a pound of methamphetamine and two handguns when Leavenworth police stopped his car on March 1, 2018. Police also found cocaine, marijuana and prescription pills in the car.

On April 19, 2018, federal marshals arrested Quinley again. They found him at a hotel in Mission, Kan., with almost a pound of methamphetamine. They also found cocaine, marijuana and prescription pills in the hotel room.

On May 29, 2018, Quinley was under supervision by the Kansas Department of Corrections when an officer found 66 grams of methamphetamine at the residence where Quinley was living.

Jeremiah Urias, 18;&nbsp;Rico Montes, 27, and&nbsp;Jorge Correa, 25, all of Wichita,&nbsp; were charged with committing a robbery Feb. 4 at EZ Trip, 100 S. Main in Newton.

A criminal complaint filed in the case alleges two robbers entered the store before 6 a.m. One of the robbers in a red hoodie pointed a handgun at a clerk and demanded money, which the clerk gave him. Then a second robber carrying a military style rifle demanded more money. While waiting for the money, the second robber walked around the store firing shots into the ceiling and into an ATM.

Investigators used surveillance footage to identify a license tag number of the getaway vehicle. After a high speed pursuit, the Kansas Highway Patrol arrested the three defendants. Urias was driving. Montes was wearing a red hoodie and sitting in the front passenger seat. Correa was sitting in the back seat with a rifle.

If convicted, the defendants could face up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000

Federal charges filed against 3 for Kansas armed robbery

SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating after a body was found in a burning SUV in Wichita and have identified the victim as 17-year-old Elisabeth Renteria of Wichita.&nbsp;

Just before 4 a.m. on January 29, officers responded to a check shots call in the area of Battin and Osie in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson. Police located a 2002 Ford Expedition engulfed in flames, in a grassy area near an apartment building on Elpyco.

The Wichita Fire Department (WFD) responded to assist on the call and extinguished the fire. After the fire was extinguished, Renteria’s body was found inside.&nbsp; Investigators are working with the Regional Forensic Science Center to determine the cause of death.

On January 30, police arrested Laura Branning, 30, on requested charges of arson and criminal desecration: unauthorized control of a dead body.&nbsp;&nbsp;Through the investigation, investigators were able to determine Branning’s involvement in the fire of the Expedition.

The investigation is ongoing, and investigators are doing further interviews on the case. The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office. Additionally, Branning has previously been arrested and convicted on charges that include flee/attempt to elude a law enforcement officer and possession of narcotic drugs.

Police: Body found in burning SUV was 17-year-old Kan. girl

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Officers who stopped an allegedly impaired driver to end a high-speed chase along the route of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade decided not to shoot at the car or bump it until it slowed down because they feared it could swerve into fans who were already gathering for the celebration, the city’s police chief said Thursday.

Addae Doyle, of Kansas City, Kansas, was charged Thursday in Kansas City, Missouri, with one count each of resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, prosecutors said.

About three hours before the parade began Wednesday, Doyle, 42, drove through a 6-foot barrier at the start of the 2-mile route and reached speeds of up to 60 mph, even after the car’s tires were stripped bare by driving over Stop Sticks, police Chief Rick Smith said at a news conference. Officers were able to slow down the car when it turned, force it into a spin and box it in as it reached an intersection near Union Station, where the route ended and the rally was later held.

Smith and Mayor Quinton Lucas praised members of the Kansas City and Independence police departments and the Clay County (Missouri) Sheriff’s Office for their decision-making and restraint when stopping the car before anyone got injured, including Doyle and a passenger in his car.

Smith said many officers along the route were pushing people out of the way and several wanted to intervene to stop the car “but we were terrified that car would veer off the course, go through the security fence and hit pedestrians that were lining either side of the street.” He also said several officers, including snipers along the route, considered shooting the driver.

“We were very fortunate this ended when it did and how it did,” Smith said. “I can’t thank these officers enough for their decision-making, their abilities, their skill to get this ended correctly. They did a helluva job.”

Officers found what turned out to be methamphetamine in the car, and preliminary toxicology results showed that Doyle tested positive for meth and cocaine, prosecutors said in a news release, noting that further charges were likely. Prosecutors didn’t release the name of the the passenger who was arrested or say whether that person faces any charges.

Smith said Doyle told investigators that he didn’t remember anything that happened after he got high.

Lucas said law enforcement often makes headlines for the wrong reasons, but the officers’ actions on Wednesday was “an amazing example of what went right.” Fans cheered the officers as they arrested Doyle and the passenger at gunpoint Wednesday, and Lucas said the city was grateful to the officers for enabling it to have an “outstanding” parade without a serious incident.

The prosecutor’s office requested that Doyle’s bond be set at $75,000 and said it didn’t know whether Doyle had an attorney yet.

City officials noted that police detained only five people, including the two in the car, during a parade that drew hundreds of thousands of revelers. The other three included a person cited for disorderly conduct, a man on a horse and another man who fell out of a tree. Those two men were removed from the rally and allowed to leave.

The fire department took 24 people to the hospital, according to city spokesman Chris Hernandez, and also responded to several injuries on site, including panic attacks and intoxication.

Chief lauds officers' restraint during Chiefs' parade chase

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Police have located a deceased body in remote Cowley County believed to be 50-year-old Jeffery Jones of Hutchinson, KS, stemming from an ongoing December criminal homicide investigation, according to officer Charley Davidson.

Through continued investigation and interviews, police were led to an area near 107th&nbsp;Street East and 32nd&nbsp;Street South in Cowley County, searching for Jones’ body and any other potential evidence in this case.&nbsp; 

Upon searching, officers found a deceased body in an abandoned structure in that area.&nbsp; WPD will work with the Regional Forensic Science Center to confirm the identity of the body.&nbsp;

Police previously arrested 53-year-old Jeffrey Hill of Wichita, on charges of 2nd-degree murder, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana, and resisting arrest.

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 29, a 50-year-old male reported to WPD officers of Hill being involved in an alleged criminal homicide in the 2100 block of South Water earlier in the month and that the victim was taken to an unknown location outside of Wichita and buried, according to Davidson.

WPD officers and investigators began investigating the case.&nbsp; The investigation revealed the victim was 50-year-old Jeffery Jones of Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp; The examination of evidence and witness interviews led to Hill’s arrest.&nbsp;

Police: Body of possible Kansas murder victim located 

COWLEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a case of alleged abuse of a dependent adult at a nursing home in Cowley County.

On December 16, police were dispatched for a report of a dependent adult who allegedly had been&nbsp;neglected in Medicalodges of Arkansas City, 203 E. Osage Avenue, according to a media release from police.

Officers were assisted by Medicalodges staff, who had conducted interviews of employees. Those employees found to be responsible for the abuse were separated from employment at the nursing home.

Through the course of the investigation, it was learned that a resident had suffered weight loss, and is dependent upon a feeding tube for feedings and medications, according to Police Chief Dan Ward.

Police also identified 56-year-old Kathy Lynne Hale as a suspect in the case. She was out of state during the initial&nbsp;investigation, but police applied for and were granted a warrant for her arrest upon her return to Kansas.

When Hale eventually returned to her residence in January, she was contacted and brought to the Arkansas City Police Department for questioning. She later was taken into custody without incident on a requested charge of&nbsp;&nbsp;felony&nbsp; mistreatment of a dependent adult (deprivation of treatment).

She was booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $15,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City.

The case has been forwarded to the Cowley County Attorney’s Office for the consideration of additional charges.

Employees fired, woman accused of abuse at Kan. nursing home

SALINE COUNTY — Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new charges after an arrest.

Just after 12:40p.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched at&nbsp; the 1600 block of Beverly Drive in Salina after receiving a report that a wanted felon identified as David Eklund, 20, of Salina, was there, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester.

Eklund was known to have an outstanding probation violation warrant from Saline County District Court.

As officers neared the Beverly Drive address, they were notified that Eklund had changed locations and was at the nearby Ambassador Hotel, 1616 West Crawford Street. As officers located Eklund there, he saw them and took off running west along the fence line of the Golden Spur Mobile Home Park just north and northwest of the hotel.

Eklund eventually was intercepted in the 1600 block of Beverly Drive and a short struggle ensued before he was taken into custody, according to Forrester.

 When Eklund was arrested, a syringe was found underneath where Eklund had been on the ground. Additionally, narcotics were found in a backpack found in Eklund's possession.

According to Forrester, Eklund was arrested on the warrant and on suspicion of Possession of methamphetamine, Possession of marijuana and Possession of drug paraphernalia. He has previous convictions for theft and burglary, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Police arrest wanted Kansas felon after chase, struggle 

SHAWNEE COUNTY&nbsp;–&nbsp;Special agents from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are investigating after an officer involved shooting occurred Wednesday morning in downtown Topeka and have identified the man shot, according to a media release from the KBI.

Gaston A. Nava-Saucedo, 33, Topeka, was shot during the incident. He died Wednesday from his injuries, according to the KBI.

Preliminary information indicates that just before 11 a.m. Wednesday, a KHP trooper conducted a traffic stop on a red Pontiac G6 for a traffic violation in the area of First and SE Madison in Topeka. During the traffic stop, the trooper attempted to arrest the male driver, who briefly exited his vehicle before resisting arrest and getting back in his car to flee. In an effort to prevent the driver from leaving, the trooper ended up partially inside the Pontiac, and was dragged by the fleeing car. During the struggle, the trooper fired multiple shots at the subject, who was struck.

EMS responded and transported both the driver and the trooper to Stormont Vail Hospital. The trooper was treated for his injuries and was released from the hospital.&nbsp;

SHAWNEE COUNTY –&nbsp;&nbsp;Special agents from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) are investigating after an officer involved shooting occurred Wednesday morning in downtown Topeka, according to a media release from the KBI.

TOPEKA, KAN. (AP) — A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper shot the male driver of a car he had just stopped Wednesday near downtown Topeka, and both of them were taken to a local hospital, authorities said.

Their conditions weren't immediately available, but the injured trooper was not shot, said Melissa Underwood, spokeswoman for the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Kansas Highway Patrol Lt. Adam Winters said the trooper stopped a red Pontiac G6 car and that the incident involved shots being fired by the trooper.

“Details are really sketchy right now,” Winters said at the scene. “We're still trying to piece everything together.”

The incident unfolded shortly before 11 a.m. near E. 1st and Madison streets, an industrial area that sees little vehicle traffic. The Pontiac ended up against a power pole in a grassy area.

The KBI will take the lead in investigating the officer-involved shooting.

Other details were not immediately available.

A green Ford Taurus approached barricaded portions of the parade route near Front Street and Riverfront Road. Doyle failed to stop and knocked down multiple barricades.

A marked police car with lights and sirens began pursuing the defendant’s vehicle. Police said Doyle accelerated to approximately 60 mph, driving in the closed parade route. More emergency vehicles pursued the defendant. Officers along the route deployed stop sticks, deflating the tires on the defendant’s vehicle. 

At Pershing and Grand Boulevard, officers deployed a TVI (tactical vehicle intervention) to disable the defendant’s vehicle. Officers removed Doyle from the driver’s seat. Officers found substances in the vehicle that tested positive for methamphetamine. Preliminary toxicology results showed the defendant tested positive for the presence of amphetamines and cocaine.

The case remains under investigation and other charges likely will be filed, according Baker. He is being held on a bond of $75,000.

Kan. man charged in car chase through Chiefs parade route

Hundreds of thousands of Kansas City Chiefs fans braved sub-freezing wind chills to celebrate the team's first Super Bowl victory in 50 years. If head coach Andy Reid is to be believed, they'll be back for an encore next year. 

Fans lined the 2-mile parade route on Wednesday to thank their football heroes for bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to Kansas City and ending a Super Bowl drought that began after the Chiefs won Super Bowl IV in 1970. 

Hours before the parade, police stopped a car driven by an apparently impaired driver who drove through a barricade and along the parade route. The driver and another person were arrested.

Andy Reid believes Chiefs will win again next year

BARTON COUNTY— Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on numerous charges after a Wednesday arrest.

Early Tuesday, police in Hoisington were searching for a suspect in an alleged aggravated battery, assault case that had occurred late Monday, according to Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir.

County dispatchers issued an attempt to locate for 35-year-old Timothy Chism of Great Bend. The suspect was considered armed and dangerous, according to Bellendir.

Investigators including officers from the Great Bend Police Department located Chism in a vehicle near the intersection of 12th and Morton Street in Great Bend.

Officers conducted a felony traffic stop on the Nissan Pathfinder and Chism, a passenger in the SUV, attempted to resist arrest, according to Bellendir.

An officer used a Taser when Chism reached for a knife. Officers then handcuffed Chism. During the arrest, officers found 14 knives including a meat cleaver, a garrote, meth, marijuana and other drugs, according to Bellendir.

When deputies searched Chism at the Barton County Jail, they found he had a .380 automatic pistol in a holster between his legs.

Chism is being held on a total bond of $125,000 for the requested charges that include drugs and weapons violations and for the alleged assault, according to Bellendir.&nbsp;

He has previous convictions for&nbsp;Lewd and Lascivious Behavior, theft and drugs, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Sheriff: Kan. felon arrested with 14 knives, garrote and pistol

CHEROKEE COUNTY —Two suspects are in custody after a woman reported being abducted and sexually assaulted in rural Cherokee County earlier this week.

Late February 2, as the woman was walking to her car, two men wearing masks, grabbed her and forced her into her vehicle, according to Sheriff David Groves.

&nbsp; As she struggled, one of the men brandished a firearm and threatened her.&nbsp; As they drove away, her eyes were covered with duct tape and she was sexually assaulted.&nbsp; The attack continued from Cherokee County into Missouri, where the woman was eventually released.

"This was an incredibly violent situation where the victim was acquainted with the suspects and able to provide important and timely details to investigators," according to Groves.

One of the suspects, Zaqouri Traves Archer, 31, of Joplin, was arrested by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, February 4th, 2020, after an arrest warrant was issued in Cherokee County District Court.&nbsp; Archer is facing charges in Kansas of Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Intimidation of a Witness and Theft.&nbsp; He is being held in in the Jasper County Jail in lieu of $250,000.00 bond.

On Wednesday morning, law enforcement in Creek County, Oklahoma located and apprehended the second suspect, 32-year-old Jeffrey David Marsh, of Oronogo, Missouri.

Marsh faces charges in Kansas of Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Sexual Battery, Aggravated Intimidation of a Witness, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Threat and Theft.&nbsp; His bond has been set at $300,000.00.

Sheriff: 2 arrested for Kan. abduction, sexual assault

SEDGWICK COUNTY— Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon after an early morning chase.

Just before 1:30a.m. Wednesday, police attempted to stop a 2006 Ford passenger vehicle in the 500 Block of Mount Vernon at Market in Wichita for a traffic violation, according to officer Paul Cruz.

As officers approached the vehicle, the suspect identified as Lametrius Turner, 19, Wichita, drove away from them. The police chased the vehicle until it stopped in the 2500 Block of north Wildwood.&nbsp; Turner ran from the car into a nearby apartment where police were able to make an arrest.

Officers found a 20-year-old woman passenger and her 2-year-old in the vehicle unharmed, according to Cruz.

During the pursuit, a handgun and marijuana were thrown from the vehicle. Police found both and learned the gun had been reported stolen from another vehicle in 2019, according to Cruz.

Turner is being <a href="https://ssc.sedgwickcounty.org/sheriffinmates/SheriffInmateDetail.aspx?nameId=20054783">held on requested charges </a>of&nbsp; theft, flee and attempted to elude, resist arrest, criminal possession of a firearm by a felon, aggravated child endangerment, possession of marijuana and multiple traffic charges.&nbsp;

He was also wanted on a Kansas Department of Corrections arrest and detain order. He was on parole after convictions for aggravated robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Just after 8:12a.m. Wednesday, a vehicle broke through a parade barrier and all officers in the area were alerted, according to a media release from Kansas City police.&nbsp;

Clay County Sheriff's deputies assisting Kansas City police deployed stop sticks. The vehicle hit the stop sticks but continued southbound down the parade route, turned and Pershing heading for the crowd lined up for the rally.

Multiple police vehicles were prepared to stop the vehicle. Officers then used a tactical vehicle intervention (also knows as a PIT maneuver) to stop the vehicle on Pershing. Police took two suspects into custody, according to the release.

The driver is under investigation for impairment. Police found no weapons during a search of the vehicle and there is no indication of terrorist activity, according to the release. Police do not know the suspect's motive.

Update: 2 arrested after chase through Chiefs parade route

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Kansas is dropping its fight against the compensation claim from a man who spent 23 years in prison for a double homicide before a judge vacated convictions that were secured even though no physical evidence or motive tied him to the crimes, the state’s attorney general said Tuesday.

Attorney General Derek Schmidt said in an Associated Press interview that his office made the decision after reviewing 900 pages of documents from Lamonte McIntyre’s attorney that had not been provided to it previously. He also said an ongoing Kansas Bureau of Investigation review of the 1994 crimes for which McIntyre, from Kansas City, Kansas, was charged turned up new information.

Schmidt said his office will work with McIntyre’s attorney on a settlement to present to a Shawnee County District Court judge. He said that under a 2018 Kansas law, McIntyre is likely to receive $1.5 million from the state — $65,000 for each year he spent in prison — plus money to cover attorney fees and other expenses.

McIntyre’s case was one of several that prompted the law requiring the state to compensate victims of wrongful convictions, and Schmidt, a Republican, had received bipartisan criticism for resisting McIntyre’s compensation claim&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/fee472c2f95747b9a41437866008eef4">while agreeing</a>&nbsp;to two others.

“Because we knew there was evidence that was never placed in front of a court, before we just signed off on a claim, we had an obligation to the new court to collect and review all of the evidence,” Schmidt said. “We’ve now done that.”

McIntyre was 17 in 1994 when he was arrested for the killings of 21-year-old Doniel Quinn and 34-year-old Donald Ewing, who were shot in broad daylight.

McIntyre received two life sentences in their deaths, but he was freed in 2017 after a local prosecutor asked the court to vacate his convictions and to drop all charges, calling his case an example of “manifest injustice.” Prosecutors’ case had largely hinged on testimony that was allegedly coerced.

“Today’s decision by the Kansas Attorney General goes one step further, by recognizing that Lamonte qualifies for compensation under the Kansas statute,” Cheryl Pilate, McIntyre’s attorney, said in a statement. “Lamonte is still dealing with the effects of 23 years of wrongful imprisonment, but the funding and other support provided by the statute will now make his load a little easier to bear.”

When signing the wrongful-conviction compensation law, then-Republican Gov. Jeff Colyer apologized to McIntyre and the other men and said, “We will make it right.”

A bipartisan group of legislators had been planning a Feb. 17 rally to show their support for McIntyre and pressure Schmidt’s office into backing McIntyre’s compensation claim. State Rep. Cindy Holscher, a Kansas City-area Democrat, said it was “retraumatizing” for McIntyre to face a court battle over whether he was compensated.

Holscher said many of her fellow lawmakers thought McIntyre had already received compensation from the state.

“I think there was the assumption that, well, of course, he was exonerated, why wouldn’t he have been paid already?” Holscher said. “Many were not aware of the fact that this was going to be dragging out.”

Schmidt said a compensation claim is essentially a lawsuit involving the state. In some cases, he said, his office can decide that compensation is warranted by reviewing the existing court record, but in McIntyre’s case, he wanted to review the additional evidence available.

As for paying McIntyre, he said: I’m hopeful there won’t be much further delay.”

Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly and the top eight leaders of the Republican-controlled Legislature would have to review any settlement language.

Under the law, McIntyre also is due health insurance benefits, financial assistance for higher education and counseling and various social services.

Legislators cited two other men’s cases from northeast Kansas as examples of why the compensation law was necessary.

Kansas agreed to pay $1.1 million to Richard Jones, of Kansas City, Kansas, who spent 17 years in prison after being wrongfully convicted of a 2000 robbery that he says was committed by someone who looks just like him. And the state agreed to pay $1.03 million to Floyd Bledsoe, who spent nearly 16 years behind bars for the rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl northeast of Topeka — a crime that his brother confessed to in a suicide note. ___

(AP) — Kansas is dropping its fight against the compensation claim from a man who spent 23 years in prison for a double homicide before a judge vacated convictions that were secured even though no physical evidence or motive tied him to the crimes, the state’s attorney general said Tuesday.Attorney General Derek Schmidt said in an Associated Press interview that his office made the decision after reviewing 900 pages of documents from Lamonte McIntyre’s attorney that had not been provided to it previously. Kansas no longer fighting claims of wrongly convicted man

BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new charges after an arrest.

Just before 10p.m. Monday, an officer from the Great Bend Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at 23rd and McKinley Street for a traffic violation, according to a media release.

The driver, and only occupant of the vehicle, identified as Aqeisa Koett, age 38, had an outstanding warrant for possession of methamphetamine from a previous narcotics investigation.

During Koett's arrest,&nbsp; police located a plastic baggie containing numerous prescription pills in the vehicle. Koett was also arrested on a requested charged for possession of a controlled substance, according to police.

Koett was transported to the Barton County Jail where she was booked in lieu of $20,000 bond. She had two previous drug convictions in 2018, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Kansas felon jailed on new charge after traffic stop

SALINE COUNTY — A Kansas man is facing charges for a weekend accident that injured a motorcycle rider.

Just before 10:30p.m. Saturday, a 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Landon Howard, 19, Brookville, was stopped at the light at the intersection of West Iron Ave. and 9th Street in Salina, according to&nbsp;Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester,

An eastbound 2005 Chevrolet Uplander driven by Robert Pirtle, 69, of Salina, struck the motorcycle. 

Pirtle then fled the scene of the accident. A witness gave police a description of the vehicle.

EMS transported Howard to Salina Regional Health Center with a deep laceration and two fractures on his right leg, according to Forrester.

A short time later, a Saline County Sheriff's deputy spotted the Uplander at the intersection of West Ash Street and Broadway Boulevard and conducted a traffic stop for a&nbsp; DUI test on Pirtle.&nbsp;

Deputies arrested him on requested charges of&nbsp;Aggravated battery, Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Duty to give information and render aid, Driving while suspended, Improper driving on a laned roadway and No proof of insurance.

The motorcycle was destroyed and the Uplander had extensive front driver's side damage, according to Forrester.

Kansas man jailed after fleeing crash into motorcycle

SALINA&nbsp; — Law enforcement authorities are investigating suspects involved in a chase and crash in Salina following an armed robbery.

At 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to an armed robbery at E-Z Trip Convenience Store, 100 S. Main in Newton, according to a social media report from police.

Two men had entered the store, armed with firearms. Multiple shots were fired in the store by at least one of the suspects. The store clerk was not injured. The suspects obtained an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing in a vehicle. Officers looked at surveillance video and determined a suspect vehicle description with a tag number. That information was given to surrounding counties and the Kansas Highway Patrol.

About an hour later, Kansas Highway Patrol in Salina located the suspect vehicle and began a pursuit. The vehicle crashed near Salina South High School, and at least one suspect fled on foot. All three individuals are now in custody..

Multiple subjects were inside vehicle at the time of the crash. One&nbsp; subject ran north from the scene, away from high school.&nbsp;

Just before 8a.m., law enforcement reported they had located and placed into custody the suspect, according to Gardner.

Name of the suspect and possible charges have not been released. The KHP did not report any injuries from the crash.

The Latest: KHP catches robbery suspect who ran from crash in Salina 

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on multiple charges after a Sunday arrest.

Just before 4:30p.m. deputies were dispatched to the 5000 block of SW Topeka Blvd on a report of a man pointing a firearm at another individual inside a business, according to Sgt. Todd Stallbaumer.

Deputies arrested 47-year-old Keith E. Austin on charges of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Criminal Threat, Aggravated Assault, Disorderly conduct, Possession of a Firearm while Under the Influence of Alcohol, Battery, and Criminal Use of a Weapon, according to Stallbaumer.

Mr. Austin is being held in the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.&nbsp; Authorities have not reported any injuries.

Kansas man arrested for alleged attempted-murder

PHILLIPS COUNTY — A second arrest from a series of church and school burglaries in Phillips County in December has been made.

"On December 23 and 24, 2019, the Logan Grade School, Logan United Methodist and Catholic churches and the Luctor Christian Reformed Church were burglarized," the Phillips County Sheriff's Office said following a previous arrest in connection with the case.

Jonathan Casey Jones, 23, Phillipsburg, has been arrested on suspicion of four counts of burglary, two counts of attempted burglary, nine counts of contributing to a child's misconduct, three counts of theft and three counts of criminal damage to property, according to the department.

Jones remains in custody in lieu of a $180,000 bond.

The department said further arrests of minors are pending, but their names will not be released.

In connection with the arrests, the department reminded the public that "all individuals are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law."

Phillip Michael Byrant, 23, Norton was previously arrested in connection with the crimes.

Second arrest made in Kansas church burglaries

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas teen in connection with a car-jacking.

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas teen in connection with a car-jacking.Just after 8p.m. January 27, police responded to a carjacking call at Towne East Square, 7700 East Kellogg in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson.A 57-year-old woman at the scene told police that as she was leaving work and walking to her vehicle, a 13-year-old boy and another unknown suspect approached. The 13-year-old demanded her keys and battered her. The suspect took the keys and fled her 2003 Buick Park Avenue.&nbsp; The victim only had minor injuries, according to Davidson.Investigators learned of the teen's involvement in the carjacking and located him Friday at a home in the 500 Block of North Ash in Wichita, according Davidson. Police located the missing vehicle Jan. 29 in the 4600 Block of South Brookhaven after a short vehicle pursuit with Sedgwick County Deputies.The 13-year-old is being held on requested charges of aggravate robbery, according to Davidson.
